Basics Learning Question (Display Issues)

Question

Hey everyone, just as an introduction I'm brand new to flash and AS, and I'm working on learning the basics. I've done a little bit of coding in a slightly modified version of Ruby of which I'm drawing most of my knowledge from (it's object oriented as is AS).
Anyways, I've been trying to work out the basics in commands. I've created a couple of drawings which I then converted into symbols/movieclips. These are just simple things like a triangle and a path for it to "walk" along. Now, i've figured out how to make it move, but I can't get either of the two symbols to show up on the stage during a debug test for anything. The only reason I'm able to tell that the symbol is moving is because I used the trace(object.x, object.y, object) command which is returning [x-value, y-value, object sprite] as it moves across the screen.
As for displaying my sprite, I'm using this code,
var Object:Sprite ;
Object = new Sprite() ;
addChild(Object);
Object.y = 30 ;
Object.x = 0 ;
I'm returning 0 errors but I can't figure out why the sprite will not display on the stage. I've tried it with the drawing initially on the stage with the instance name, 'Object' and off of it. Neither way works and gets it to move across the stage. Can anyone help with this? I've tried searching around for a solution for this, but I can't find an answer to this in particular in either google, or the help file.

Alright, sorry for taking so long to reply, the screen for my laptop with flash died and so I haven't been able to do anything until just this morning.
As for getting this sprite to show up, it's just not working and I have no idea why... I've been playing changing around things and whatnot, but all I keep getting is errors. I'm wondering if I missed something in setting it up right. Here's what I have...

Man = new Sprite() ;
Man.addChild(Guy) ;

Man.x = 50
Man.y = 200
trace(Man.x);
function moveright(event:Event)
    if(Man.x < 640)
        Man.x += 1
Man.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, moveright);
and when I run that code, I get the following errors:
Scene 1    1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: Guy.
Scene 1, Layer 'Layer 1', Frame 1, Line 8    1118: Implicit coercion of a value with static type flash.display:Sprite to a possibly unrelated type flash.display:MovieClip.
Scene 1, Layer 'Layer 1', Frame 1, Line 11    1120: Access of undefined property Man.

Scene 1, Layer 'Layer 1', Frame 1, Line 9    1120: Access of undefined property Man.
My movie clip name is Guy, and the class name for it is Guy also... Either I'm just missing something simple here, or just understanding really bad... :\  in any case, thanks for your patients with me and help.
