Battery problems with Droid Razr M

Over the last 2 weeks my droid Razr M has lost battery power. It appears that my screen is using anywhere from 42% to 55% power. I have had a "soft" update done at the store and that lasted about 2 hours. My screen is on auto batterty saving mode, and dims after 30 seconds. I generally use my phone for texts, limited calling and occasionally checking my email. I have not downloaded anythig lately. Up to this point my battery life has been good.

Keep your screen lighting to no higher than 20-25% and do a normal reboot again. Next try to rebuild your battery by doing the following:
Li-ion batteries needs to have a rebuild charge from time to time. Give this a try, Do a full 6-8 hour charge with device in sleep mode, next run it down to about 45-50 % and then a 4-5 hour charge. After that use your device and take it down to 30%. Another 6-8 hour charge and then down to no lower then 20-25% and one more full 8 hour charge. At that point your battery should be rebuilt back to a normal life cycle. This should eliminate a short battery life if all is working normal.

  • Problems with Droid RAZR phone

I purchased my Droid phone 12/19/12.  Circa 2/5/13, I started having problems with it, that are still continuing as of today, 2/20/13.  I went into a VZ store twice in the span of 4 days about these problems.  On the first visit, the VZ person did a phone reset and other stuff, didn't work...no surprise, right?  They might as well have told me to unplug it for 30 seconds, plug it back in and try again.  A few days later, after the problems didn't go away, I went back in and the employee, after reading documented information from previous visit, automatically ordered me a replacement phone.  Once I got the replacement phone, I refused it because it was a certified used phone.  I spent nearly $180 for a BRAND NEW phone and I'm suppose to accept a used phone and possibly have even more problems?  I don't think so.  I sent the phone back the day after I got it with a long letter protesting the replacement phone and giving a detailed description of the problems.
So, I am posting this note, along with (some of) the problems, to see if anyone else in the VZ world has had these problems; with the Droid or any other phone, and how to fix them.  Here are the problems:
Several times a day, it will show the time as 15 minutes late than what it is (if real time is 4:45, my phone will show 4:30; if real time is 8:36, my phone will show 8:21).
Related to the time problem above, it incorrectly lists my texts (sent and received); it will show that I responded to someone’s text 15 minutes before they sent their’s.
On Thursday, February 7, 2013, I was unable to call out when I really needed to.  It took me 4 attempts to be able to call my boss. The phone got stuck on “dialing” and the call never went through.  Even after turning my phone on/off twice, I still could not call out.
Any advice how to fix these problems; at least the time problem?
    Thanks,
    Joe

Hey there AshleyR0518. I want to start off by thanking you for your continued support to Verizon Wireless. Customers like yourself have allowed us to grow into the company we are today and we are forever greatful. I am saddened to hear that your most recent experience has caused you to look else where and I want to do whatever I can to retain your business. I am here to provide you with the customer service you deserve.
I am sorry to hear about the issues that you are having with the Droid Charge. That is one to many issues to be having so I can certainly see why you are upset. The Droid Charge is a great phone, we just need to see what is causing the issues with the phone and make sure those bugs are exterminated.
I am sorry that the store wasn't much assistance to you. They should have been able to resolve your issue in an efficient and professional manner and by your description we did not do that. If you provide the specific store location I can submit feedback to the store manager so that we can assure that this never happens again.
How many hours do you get out of the Charge battery? The specs say you should get about 11 hours out of the battery, but that could differ on how you actually use the device. Do you have any battery saver or task killer apps? Sometimes these apps can do more harm to the battery than good. If you do please uninstall them and test the battery to see if the battery life improves.
As for the phone freezing, this could be caused by a third party app that possibly has a corrupt file. To test, please put the device into safe mode and let me know if the freezing issue persists. For steps on how to put the device into safe mode please visit http://vz.to/n2EIBZ. If the phone doesn't freeze while in safe mode, that means that a third party app is causing the device to free.
When is your upgrade Ashley? Dial #UPG from your cellphone to find out.
Also if you are still under warranty we can replace your device at no cost to you as long as there is no physical or water damage done to the device.
I want you to remain with us and also have a fully functional phone. There is alot more we can do than a factory reset and we are here to assist. Please try the steps provided and keep us updated on your results.

  • Problems with Droid RAZR HD

    Hi,
I have had to post this into the Droid RAZR MAXX section due to the Droid RAZR HD no longer being posted on Verizon's site anywhere.  I first acquired this phone on 6/18/2013.  After a month I started having a few problems with the phone.  Being my first smart phone I just thought thats how it operated.  In December of 13 the problems had gotten so bad that I had gone by my local store several times and was basically told that if I wanted a different phone to buy one off Craigslist.  I couldn't believe that! The phone was only 6 months old and still under warranty.  The associate never offered to complete a warranty claim either.  Since then I am on my second replacement, third phone all together and have called Verizon a few times about every phone I get that turns out to be defective. Would Verizon not allow an exchange seven months into a two year contract if every phone I've had has been defective? I mean, its not even on their web site anywhere and the Droid RAZR MAXX is and it came out the same time as my Droid RAZR HD.
A VZ rep once offered to exchange and downgrade me only to another Droid.  I did not care to downgrade and stay with the Android OS.  I want to get away from the Android OS completely and change over to an Iphone and be done with it.  I'm not asking for the latest and greatest Iphone just because it might seem as though "I dislike the Droid I have now".  I want to change over to an Iphone because every Droid I get turns out to be defective. I wish I had NEVER EVER selected the Droid in the first place and hope I don't regret signing up Verizon, their service is awesome and CS is great too.  I've just been in this string of defective phones that's not even listed on their web site anymore and I don't care to have a phone that locks up and freezes when I need to make a call.

We appreciate you taking the time to contact us. We also want to make sure you have a phone that is working properly for  you, 10.8denson.
The warranty will replace the same make/model for you.
If you are looking to get a different device, you can look into Certified Pre Owned http://bit.ly/NTcxRW, a possible Edge upgrade http://bit.ly/1br8ZPg. Have we been able to troubleshoot this device with you?

  • Problem with Droid Razr Maxx and Jelly Bean update

My Droid Razr Maxx was updated this morning and right away found a couple of problems. First, although I was sitting next to my wireless router, the signal display indicated a really weak signal. This seemed to clear up after a reboot and an on-off-on cycle of the wifi on the phone.
The second problem was that, with the wifi off, I had no data signal. None. The phone worked but no 1x/3G/4G. I traced that problem to the phone configuration. Somehow the update turned off Mobile network data access. (Menu -> System Settings -> Wireless Netwroks -> More... -> Mobile networks -> Enable data access over mobile networks)
Seems like a dumb thing for the update to do.

Put all of your contacts in one place, Gmail contacts.  Gmail will only sync one copy and is an excellent way to restore contacts after a factory reset.  If you have contacts in Gmail, Verizon Backup Assistant, Facemail, etc. then you will probably get multiple copies.  Ditch Backup Assistant ASAP if you have it activated.
Make sure all of your contacts are in Gmail Contacts, erase all contacts from your phone (clear data in Settings > Apps > All > Contacts Storage), and resync with Gmail Contacts.

  • Battery Issues with DROID RAZR

This is the 2nd RAZR I've gotten from Verizon, and I'm having the same issues. I have to charge the battery several times a day, even when I'm not using it. The so-called "Smart Actions" do nothing for saving my battery - they just annoy me. The battery gets hot as fire when I'm using the phone for extended periods of time, whether talking, texting, navigating, or playing games/music. I've only been with Verizon since February, and this doesn't give me very much confidence in their products. I'm seriously considering going a different route completely. Just wondering if anyone else is having the same issues and how Verizon fixed them.

I was with another provider for years.  I finally switched due to the needed coverage that Verizon provides.  I just got the Maxx so I am not familiar with the battery life of the Razr, but there are several things you can do to help improve the battery life.  Without knowing what all you have tried (with the exception of the smart actions app), I don't want to bore you with things you may have already tried.
Are you in a location that gets good 4g coverage?  If not, then try setting the phone to the 3g coverage, as 3g will not eat up as much battery.  Menu>Settings>Wireless & Networks>Mobile Networks>Network mode>CDMAonly will put you on 3g
Limit the use of background running widgets on your home screens
WiFi uses more battery than 4g also, so only use it as needed and then make sure it is off when not needed.
    Same with bluetooth and GPS.
See what applications you have downloaded that might require running background data.  Some applications run in the background and using data will run down the battery quite a bit as well.
Visit the Android website to see what others suggest about how to save on battery life too.  This can be very helpful and may tell you other ideas that could help.

  • Lots of problems with droid razr maxx hd

I think they all started after the update.  My phone was working fine before that time but since then all sorts of strange stuff is going on and I don't know if it's due to the update or if it's the phone itself.   The problems are as follows:
    1.  Phone seems to get stuck and gets hot....but not while I'm using it.  I will go to use my phone and the screen is stuck to black and the phone is hot.  I have to turn the phone off (sometimes takes several attempts) and I remove the otterbox and let it cool down.  When I start it up it is fine.  Sometimes it gets hot and the battery suddenly drops but it isn't stuck...I check to see if it's updating something but I shows that nothing is happening.
    2.  Sometimes it won't send my text......I just the "sending" notification.
    3.  When someone sends me a group text, I suddenly do not get the first group message (which explains everything) but I will get everyones reply.
    4.  It suddenly will no longer allow me to send a photo by text...it will let me send it by gmail.  If I try to send a photo or retrieve a text with a photo someone has sent me,  I will get the notification that "unfortunately messaging has stopped"
    5.  It randomly turns itself off or get stuck in the black screen (this is not good when it turns off during the night and it is your alarm clock.
    Anyone with similar issues?

  • Problems with Droid Razr

I sent a couple of message to my e-mail from my phone. Shortly on after that night I got a thing on the top of my phone saying that there is 4 items waiting to upload and Remote device offline. I have no idea what this could possibly be. Everytime I push on it to open it, it just closes it and doesn't remove it from my phone. It is driving me nuts!!! Any ideas as to what it could be and how to get rid of it! Please Help!!!

        Hello Kelt11JR,
Don’t let it drive you nut!!  (Smile)  I would love to assist.
First, I’d like to thank the Community for the great feedback & suggestions!
The notification is being generated by MotoCast.  The RAZR is detecting that there is something on the device to be uploaded to the remote device (e.g. PC), however the remote device (e.g. PC) is offline.  The message will not go away until the remote device becomes available.  To disable this notification:
    1. Make the remote device available (power it on with internet connection, etc)
    2. Disable MotoCast settings on the RAZR as follows:
-Enter either My Gallery or My Music application
    -Press the Menu key
    -Select Settings
    -Select MotoCast settings
    -Select MotoCast auto upload settings
-With the "MotoCast auto upload option, uncheck/deselect this option
This will remove the notification.  Please let us know how this works out for you.
    Thanks,

  • Reception / Battery problems with iPhone 3GS after upgrading to iOS 4.2.1

There are major reception and battery problems with iPhone 3GS after upgrading to iOS 4.2.1.
I can not believe that Apple did not test this for major bugs like this one is.
I am a business user and can not effort to have bad reception. Apple wants to gain in the business clients... I never had this with my former BlackBerrys!
I need a reliable phone not a play thing like this is right now, it just needs it to work propely. And if a major bug like this comes along, fix it immediately. After the iPhone4 story, now this...incredible! Going back to my reliable BlackBerry! It just ain't reliable and takes forever to fix a problem.

I have the same issue after iOS 4.2.1 update. I am using iPhone 3GS officially unlocked by Apple. I tried using different SIM cards and both carriers show same problem when using phone in 3G mode. Phone falls back to EDGE mode showing 'E' from '3G' at start. I have reset the phone and rebooted several times and moved to different cell areas in the city just to verify the problem.
I had no such issues earlier. I also have Nokia E71 which shows full signal and has no such issues.
I have posted the bug on apple iphone feedback page. I hope they Apple will fix the problem and test the release properly on all models before releasing to public.

  • Battery Problems with MacBook

I've been following the various threads about battery problems with MacBooks.
I too have experienced a problem with my battery on a 2 month old MacBook.
It suddenly refused to charge. It showed a battery icon with a black X through it.
I followed various suggestions that I found through various posts and support pages - eg. resetting PMU etc., even downloading the deep sleep widget which I found difficult to get to work - but nothing solved the problem.
Yesterday I went in to the Apple Store in Birmingham and waited until I could talk with one of the tec experts (incidentally, they were very helpful even though very busy and I didn't have an appointment). The tec guy said he though that the battery was faulty. It didn't work in another MacBook they had. But another battery would work in my MacBook. So, I was given a new battery, which seems to work fine now.
However, I have read in various posts that people have had the same new battery solution which works, but then the problem reappears with the new battery over time. I will wait and see. If that is the case, then I think it will point to the problem not being with the battery, but rather with the system, PMU, OS X, motherboard or whatever. So, I think it makes sense for us to post any difficulties we have so that Apple can see that there might be a problem with the batteries in MacBooks and start working on a solution. Otherwise, it will probably cost them a lost of money providing replacement batteries !

    Hey Christopher...
I posted the same in another thread. I'm not a big fan of duplicate posts... but it seemed appropriate in this case. Take a look at the last paragraph regarding discharging lithium ion batteries. I'm not sure if it would be the electronics in the battery that tell the MacBook it's time to charge, or the MacBook's power management unit...
"Talk about a jinx! I've had my MacBook since shortly after they came out (week 9). Never had any problems. I've calibrated my battery about once a month or so. It seems after my last calibration, I got the dreaded "X" in the battery indicator. My MagSafe indicator was green. System Profiler showed that there was no battery. I reset the PMU and the SMC firmware... also tried reseating the battery (one of those things you're sure won't work... but ya just have that little bit of hope anyway). Alas, nothing would bring my battery back. Took a trip to my local Apple store. I had made an appointment online, but still had to wait over an hour (they really need to enlarge their Genius area now that they have so many more machines out there). Told the Genius what the problem was... he swapped out the battery... but the one he tried was fully charged because he took it from a machine that was plugged in. So the tension was mounting... would it charge or not (I was hoping it was just the battery and not something else). He had me use my MacBook for a bit to drain the battery. I ran Parallels and did a Windows virus scan (that should drain the battery pretty fast)... After I got the battery down to about 90%, the Genius plugged it back in. To my delight, the MagSafe indicator went orange and started to charge the battery. With that, the Genius went in the back and got me a new battery. He had me stay there for a little bit just to make sure everything was okay. I'm sort of afraid to calibrate my battery now... at least properly as in letting it completely drain. I had done a few calibrations in the past without a problem, but it seems this problem tends to occur after someone does a calibration. I'm just happy it was just the battery.
I came across this little tidbit from the Battery University webiste:
Some lithium-ion batteries fail due to excessive low discharge. If discharged below 2.5 volts per cell, the internal safety circuit opens and the battery appears dead. A charge with the original charger is no longer possible. Some battery analyzers (Cadex) feature a boost function that reactivates the protection circuit of a failed battery and enables a recharge. However, if the cell voltage has fallen below 1.5V/cell and has remained in that state for a few months, a recharge should be avoided because of safety concerns. To prevent failure, never store the battery fully discharged. Apply some charge before storage, and then charge fully before use.
I wonder if there is a fault with some of the batteries that is allowing them to discharge below this minimal level, making them impossible to recover."

Actually, battery size has a definite impact on battery life, and larger batteries tend to weigh more.
I had made the point that the Handset size (not the "battery size") does not affect battery life.
Furthermore, I wen't on to explain that the batteries are comparable in size regardless.
On this point Sholton, if you want a physically larger battery (which yes, I agree, naturally will yield better battery life) then perhaps the Samsung Galaxy SIII or Galaxy Note would be a better solution for you.
But then, because of a poorly optimised operating system on those systems, your battery will be working inefficiently anyway.
    sholton wrote:
can't replace the battery once that limit has been reached -  at that point you either buy a new phone and discard the "old" (not very green of you...), or ship the old one off to the factory for an expensive replacement, and no phone for the duration of the shipping and replacement).
Apple offers a battery replacement program where they will either replace a consumed battery or replace the handset if need be for a reasonable price of around $89.
The aforementioned service can be carried out at your nearest Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider in a matter of 10 minutes - rendering your point about being without a phone moot.
Once again, I appreciate your frustration, but perhaps the iPhone just isnt for you.

  • My In Store Experience With Droid Razr Battery Life

I have a Droid Razr. I took it into a local store because my battery life is HORRIBLE. The phone had been off the charger for 1h40m minutes and it was already at 60%. The CSR told me it would take 40 minutes. When I came back he told me the test said the battery "was fine", and he went on to explain that it had only gone down 10% in the 40 minutes which is pretty bad. I left and checked the phone and it was at 40%. I thought I could get the battery replaced or possibly get a new phone but he just gave me the information and walked away. I had to track him down to ask him another unrelated question.
the battery has been on the charger the past few days more then i have been using it. i can't make a full day on a 100% charge, not even a half day. I charge at least once during the day, and around when im going to bed.

        Hi there Sas1983!
Having a battery that will last is definitely important! I'm so sorry for the less than super experience with your phone and at the store location. I would be delighted to provide some information and suggestions.
4G LTE Smartphones run a different radio so battery life is a little bit different. As you already know you can't remove the battery from your Razr so we absolutely want to ensure it's good!
You can manage your phone by using Smart Actions on your phone. Here's some information: http://search.verizonwireless.com/?q=smart actions razr&x1=t1&q1=support
You can also close running applications easily by "double tapping" the Home Key and then swiping the open applications to the right to close them.
Let me know how these additional steps help!

  • Thoroughly disappointed with Droid Razr

I paid a premium price less than a year ago for a LEMON of a phone -- the Droid Razr by Motorola.  I have now replaced by new phone with three (3) refurbished phones because of the faculty Google operating system and poor manufacturing by Motorola, which is now owned by Google.  Sorry I abandoned my old Blackberry, but I feared the RIM would not survive.

If you could explain the problem you are having, somebody here might actually be able to help you.
And FYI, the RAZR was already being designed, probably built, possibly released before Google took over.  Sounds like you have some pre-determined issues with Google, which should probably be addressed to Google themselves.

operating with the T520 either.  I have spent hours by myself and with others and have no other ideas. HELP!!
Click Away - could get other cell phone Wifi to connect with T520.  They thought the Droid Razr M was rejecting the
connection to the T520 due to a MAC ID flagged as bad by the phone.  Explained this to Verizon but they didn't pursue this.
Verizon - Opened a ticket to look into it and after a week still had no response. Customer agent that answered my call to follow up on open ticket said their network people didn't find anything operating incorrectly, thus no call.  Called 611 and phone person tried clearing cache and then resetting different settings to see if could get connection.
Motorola - tried extensively to test different setups, took over control of phone and did a lot I didn't follow,  ended running through different specified Broadcast channels ( rather than auto) to see
