BBP_DOCUMENT_TAB- Entries with special charaters afetr unicode upgrade
Hi,
We are on SRM 5.0 (SRM_SERVER 550) Sp07. SAp 4.7 backend.
We are upgrading the system to unicode.
What we have observed is after PO creation the BBP_DOCUMENT_TAB has some special characters in the field 'Key'
For example:
BUS2121001##䟅㳤탇ᾣᾣઃ????#?? ######## 01############################
In the non unicode system the entry reads like below
BUS2121001GAEp#?g8Ia#####o# ################ 01###########
This does not cause problems in most of the SRM systems, but in one of the systems, the Clean_reqreq_up job is failing with a message 'Buffer table not up to date'. We are not sure if this is due to the entries in BBP_DOCUMENT_TAB which have special characters or not.
Can someone please explain the impact/risk of such entries in BBP_DOCUMENT_TAB. Is this a known issue. is there any solution for this?
Thanks & regards,
Srivatsan

Hello
After an Unicode upgrade of an SAP 4.7, there are no entries in "displays alerts".
Table ALALERTDB empty.
ThanksHi Gervase,
I don't know what you have done yesterday, but now I can see note 1032334. Thanks.
I closed the sap call again.
Anyways, it was very strange, in transaction SNOTE I tried to download this note but then the message appeared "this note is not released, please inform your sap support". And on sap support portal it was near the same. Now I will implement it and give you a feedback if you wish.

Adobe Interactive Forms ZCI with special characters
Hi,
I hope somebody can help me with the problem described below.
We are using Adobe Interactive Forms ZCI (IF). On our IF we placed a Enumerated DDL from the Webdynpro Native tab. In the Visual Admin the number of entries for the DDL is 50 (default). The problem is that when the DDL consists of more than 50 entries a webdynpro pop-up screen is shown. In our DDL we have entries with special characters for example the apostrophe (ie. s). When I select one of these entries its not displayed correctly in the form. It is displayed as 's.
We are using Adobe reader 7.08. I also tested it with reader 8.1.0 and there the problem still occurs.
We are using NW04s SP12.
Thanks in advance,
Kind regards,
Maarten.Hello Saujanya,
This is not what i meant.
The problem isn't that not all entries are listed in the EVS, but that when the EVS is displayed and i select an entry with a "special" character like i.e.. a apostrophe (') the selected value isn't correctly displayed in the DDL as selected item. Say the i select from the EVS the value " 's " when the EVS is gone the value in the DDL is 's. This is not correct.
Hope this explanation will help.
Kind regards,
Maarten. -
Park documents with special GL entry - F-43
Dear Friends,
I want to park the document with special GL posting in T-code F-43. But I am getting the error message that:-
Special G/L transactions not defined for bills/exch.and down pmnts
Message no. FP030
Diagnosis
You have selected a posting key with a special G/L indicator of type 'Bill of exchange', or 'Down payment'. Document parking is not defined for special G/L transactions of the type 'Bill of exchange' or 'Down payment'. System Response Document parking cannot be carried out.
Procedure
Select a different posting key or special G/L indicator. If the posting is a 'One-time posting' to a rent contract, select a different transaction type or post the document directly. In FBKP, for this special GL in Properties, I have selected the option Down
Payment/Down Payment Request.
Any clue, how can we park the document with special GL without changing this property of special GL as mentioned above.
Regards
Abhishek KumarDear Abhishek,
I see your situation now clearly. See we also have this type of requirement. You have made a down payment of say 100 and vendor is adjusting 10% of this down payment in its one invoice. You can have this sets of entries:
1) Vendor Down Payment - TCode F-48 or (F-47 and F110)
Vendor Account Dr Posting Key 29 Spl GL A - US$ 100
Bank Cr Posting Key 50 - US$ 100
2) Post Vendor Invoice FB60 or FV60
Expense Acct Dr Posting Key 40 - US$ 1000
Vendor Acct Cr Posting Key 31 - US$ 1000
3) Clear Vendor Down Payment - TCode - F-54
Vendor Account Dr Posting Key 39 Spl GL A - US$ 10
Vendor Account Cr Posting Key 26 - US$ 10
So finally in your vendor account you will have 990 US$ to pay against invoice and 90 US$ as balance down payment to adjust.
Hope this meets your requirement.

Problem figuring out the encoding for filenames with special characters
I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but this does seem like an OS issue.
I brought in a lot of mp3 and m3u files from a Windows machine to my new Mac. Some of the mp3 files have accented characters in their names, and these names appear in the m3u files. But if I add the m3u file to iTunes, it fails to recognize these names and so I lose all the mp3's with special characters in their names.
I tried to fix this by grabbing the files name in Python, but that didn't work either!
Here's an example: the file's name is "Voilà l'été.mp3"
The m3u files says "Voil\xe0 l'\xe9t\xe9.mp3" -- this doesn't work.
From os.listdir(), I get Voila\xcc\x80 l'e\xcc\x81te\xcc\x81.mp3", but sticking it in an m3u files doesn't work either. (Note that here the characters are encoded as unaccented letter + two byte code for the accent).
When I try these strings from python, e.g. doing os.stat(), they both work; but iTunes doesn't understand any of them!
I'd appreciate any hints on how to enter these names in the m3u file so that iTunes can read it. Thanks!I know nothing about "m3u" files and how iTunes interprets the file names in them, but if it is not a relative/absolute path problem, then how about just putting the raw file names (not the ones with backslash escape) in m3u file? For example, just put
Voilà l'été.mp3
in m3u?
As for Unicode encoding, HFS+ file system uses the "decomposed form" for accented characters. This means, as you write, à is hex "61 cc 80" in UTF-8, i.e., "a + COMBINING GRAVE ACCENT". The pre-composed form is hex "c3 a0". But my experience is that in most cases both pre-composed and decomosed forms work at the user level (not at the lowest file system level). -
Problem with special characteres

Any tips, please?First step: read [this excellent introduction into Unicode|http://www.joelonsoftware.com/articles/Unicode.html], it will give you the basics you need to solve this problem.
How do you input and output those characters? Simply print them to the console? Or write them to a HTML file (since you mention &<something>; notation)?
"?" is normally the result when you convert a String (which is always in UTF-16 encoding in Java) to an encoding that can't represent your characters (ASCII for example). -

Problem inserting text with special Hungarian characters into MySQL database
When I insert text into my MySQL db the special Hungarian
characters (ő,ű) they change into "?".
When I check the
<cfoutput>#FORM.special_character#</cfoutput> it gives
me the correct text, things go wrong just when writing it into the
db. My hosting provider said the following: "please try to
evidently specify "latin2" charset with "latin2_hungarian_ci"
collation when performing any operations with tables. It is
supported by the server but not used by default." At my former
hosting provider I had no such problem. Anyway how could I do what
my hosting provider has suggested. I read a PHP related article
that said use "SET NAMES latin2". How could I do such thing in
ColdFusion? Any suggestion? Besides I've tried to use UTF8 and
Latin2 character encoding both on my pages and in the db but with
not much success.
I've also read a French language message here in this forum
that suggested to use:
<cfscript>
setEncoding("form", "utf-8");
setEncoding("url", "utf-8");
</cfscript>
<cfcontent type="text/html; charset=utf-8">
I' ve changed the utf-8 to latin2 and even to iso-8859-2 but
didn't help.
Thanks, AronI read that it would be the most straightforward way to do
everything in UTF-8 because it handles well special characters so
I've tried to set up a simple testing environment. Besides I use CF
MX7 and my hosting provider creates the dsn for me so I think the
db driver is JDBC but not sure.
1.) In Dreamweaver I created a page with UTF-8 encoding set
the Unicode Normalization Form to "C" and checked the include
unicode signature (BOM) checkbox. This created a page with the meta
tag: <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;
charset=utf-8" />. I've checked the HTTP header with an online
utility at delorie.com and it gave me the following info:
HTTP/1.1, Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8, Server:
Microsoft-IIS/6.0
2.) Then I put the following codes into the top of my page
before everything:
<cfprocessingdirective pageEncoding = "utf-8">
<cfset setEncoding("URL", "utf-8")>
<cfset setEncoding("FORM", "utf-8")>
<cfcontent type="text/html; charset=utf-8">
3.) I wrote some special Hungarian chars
(<p>őű</p>) into the page and they displayed
well all the time.
4.) I've created a simple MySQL db (MySQL Community Edition
5.0.27-community-nt) on my shared hosting server with phpMyAdmin
with default charset of UTF-8 and choosing utf8_hungarian_ci as
default collation. Then I creted a MyISAM table and the collation
was automatically applied to my varchar field into wich I stored
data with special chars. I've checked the properties of the MySQL
server in MySQL-Front prog and found the following settings under
the Variables tab: character_set_client: utf8,
character_set_connection: utf8, character_set_database: latin1,
character_set_results: utf8, character_set_server: latin1,
character_set_system: utf8, collation_connection: utf8_general_ci,
collation_database: latin1_swedish_ci, collation_server:
latin1_swedish_ci.
5.) I wrote a simple insert form into my page and tried it
using both the content of the form field and a hardcoded string
value and even tried to read back the value of the
#FORM.special_char# variable. In each cases the special Hungarian
chars changed to "q" or "p" letters.
Can anybody see something wrong in the above mentioned or
have an idea to test something else?
I am thinking about to try this same page against a db on my
other hosting providers MySQL server.
Here is the to the form:

FTP transfer gives incorrect characters after unicode upgrade
Hello all,
We write a file on a FTP drive containing data from an internal table. We use FM FTP_R3_TO_CLIENT to write this file. The internal table contains characters like 'ü'. Before our unicode upgrade this process worked fine. After our unicode upgrade the FTP file contains instead of the 'ü' characters like 'ü'.
The internal table passed to the FM is still ok in the unicode system, only the result seems not. We did set the unicode flag on the SAPFTP RFC destination but this made no difference.
Any idea?

XML conversion for special charaters & , , etc..
Hi ,
I'm trying to generate a XML file to send the sales order details , in the when ever there are special charaters like & < etc..
it's getting converted to & LT; etc...
I'm using IF_IXML interface and create_text method to convert the text in R/3 to XML.
Any idea how to over come this?
Regards,
RaghavendraHello Raghavendra,
You can use identical transformation which is easy and will convert all the special chars while creating xml file.
CALL TRANSFORMATION ID
SOURCE ITAB = ITAB[]
RESULT XML XML_STRING.
Here xml_string will contain full xml file with all conversion taken care.
You can refer to SAP help on identical transformation.
Hope this helps!
