How to make a Quicktime movie start when I want, not automatically?

Is there any way to control when a Quicktime movie starts playing? I can pause and resume it pressing the K key, but I would like the ability to start a movie inside a slide clicking a key or the mouse.

Hugo, in Keynote movies automatically start whenever they appear on a slide, either because they have "built in" on a slide, or because the slide they are on has transitioned in (and the movie has no build itself).
Given this, there are two ways to control the start of a movie. One is to put the movie on a separate slide, and advance to that slide when you want the movie to start. If you like, you can do a screenshot of the first frame of the movie and put that on the prior slide, so that it looks like the movie is paused on the first frame, and when you click, it runs. If there is no transition effect used on the second slide, the audience won't be aware that you have used two slides to achieve this effect.
The other way to control the start is to assign a build to the movie, so that it builds in on a click. Again, you can have the first still from the movie already on the slide, and then, when you want to play the movie, have it build in directly on top of the still -- this will again give the appearance of a stopped movie suddenly starting up.

Deadlock when deleting a not linked data record in a parent table

Hello, who knows about this problem with Oracle 10g:
Our installation of Oracle 10.2g behaves different from Oracle 9.2 concerning locking of data records:
To prevent that different users edit a complex data record at the same time and store it, the user has to put
the data record into the "edit mode" and we lock it with "Select CharFieldZ from TableX where ID = 1 for UPDATE NOWAIT".
In this data record references (= foreign keys) to other tables are used; with foreign key constraints we
prevent those data records of these tables from being deleted, which are used in data records of tableX: on
deleting such a record Oracle gives an error message ORA-02292, which the application translates for the
user: "You cannot delete this record, because it is used somewhere else".
Now when locking data record A under Oracle 10.2g, which contains a foreign Key upon data record 1 of tableF,
and trying to delete data record 2 of tableF, a deadlock appears, even when this data record is not used
anywhere else.
Further conditions:
- Data record 2 was created before locking of data record A.
- In the same session tableF was opened for reading before.
Is there a parameter, which leads Oracle 10.2g to return to the former behavoir ?
or: how is it possible to prevent a deadlock anyhow else ?

I'm not aware that the locking mechanism did change between Oracle 9i and 10g. Can you provide a simple and reproducable example?
You current description is very "uncomplete", e.g. this statement would lock the full table, but I think that is not what your application does.
Select CharFieldZ from TableX for UPDATE NOWAITAs Peter already mentioned you should check if there are any other differences between the databases. Let me mention just a few points that I can think of at the moment:
* indexes
* FK constraints with DELETE CASCADE
* higher oracle block size (can lead to more ITL locks)

Detecting when a variable:URLVariables receives data

Is it possible to add a 'Change' event listener to URLVariables similar to adding addEventListener(Event.CHANGE, function) to a textinput?
I'm loading data and need to detect when it has completed and send those variables to another class.
Basically I need to know when it's 'safe' to retrieve the data from my URLVariables variable and that means I need to detect a change on URLVariables.
I have a workaround using a textinput that is changed in the complete function and then loads the data into a seperate URLVariables var meaning I have a textinput to dedect change and then another variable that hold the actual data which is a waste...

you can detect whenever data is received by using the Event.COMPLETE listener and listener function. whether data is new, changed or previously defined and unchanged, you'll need to code yourself after your complete listener function is called.

Make a grid only appear on top another of another object

hi everyone
having trouble with trying to make a grid only appear when its over another object. Basically i'm trying to lay 45 degree lines over a circle, but i only want the grid lines to appear over the circle and not outside.
any suggestions without scissor tooling the lines outside the circle and it not looking good.
very new user to illustrator so sorry if this is a dumb question

You could use the polar grid tool
You could use pathfinder's divide function, but that will also cut the circle into 45 degree sections.
You could turn your lines and shape into a Live Paint Group and then use the Live paint Selection tool to just select the overhanging segments and delete them

How can I make my 3G take over when my wi-fi has connectivity issues?

My wi-fi usually works fine but every so often it starts to work very slowly and usually not at all. How can I make it where I always stay connected to the wi-fi for the speed and convenience, but then my phone switches over to 3G connection when it can't receive data via it? I have an iPhone 4S so I've been having trouble making this work.

You can turn off WiFi from the pull-up menu on the bottom (swipe up from bottom of device and click on the WiFi symbol to turn it off).

Your mailserver is sometimes requesting authentication and sometimes not. The reason for that can't be found in the SAP system but in the mailserver since that is requesting the authentication.
"Webmail" is the application on top but that is not the system sending and receiving the mail.
The SAP system is out of scope here. I'd check the mail server logs why it is requesting authentication sometimes and sometimes not.

Itunes charged my account when songs where not purchased

I was going through the process of purchasing songs from iStore. Right after I hit "Buy Now" I would get a Windows error. I tired this 3 times figuring that nothing downloaded. Well nothing downloaded, but the songs where charged to my account each time. Finally, I was able to pruchase the songs, but now I have charges to my account when I did not receive the music. What do I do?
I sent an email because no one in customer service will help over the phone. That is over 40 dollars in charges for nothing.

I have had my IPAD2 for quite a while but haven't activated my cellular data for about a year. I am now trying to activate and when I go to cellular data, turn it on and try to tap view account i just get a message that says "connection to server lost".

It sounds like the cellular data will not activate for some reason on the iPad.
I found this article that will help you resolve this issue here, named iPad (Wi-Fi + Cellular Models): Troubleshooting a cellular data connection, found here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4249
Check for a carrier settings update.
Update your iPad.
Toggle the Cellular Data setting off and on under Settings > Cellular Data.
Restart your iPad.
Tap Settings > General > About. Locate the Carrier entry and make sure that your carrier is correct.
If your SIM card has SIM PIN enabled, try turning it off: Tap Settings > Cellular Data > SIM PIN.
Make sure you're in an area of good coverage. If the cellular data connection works in another area, contact your carrier to report the original affected area.
Reset network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Restore the iPad as new.
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store, contact your carrier, or contact AppleCare to troubleshoot further.
I know you may have done one or two of the steps here, so you can skip those.

The "system" performed as designed. All devices syncing to one iCloud account are kept in common sync. The idea is that all such devices belong to one user. Different users should have different iCloud accounts. Once your contacts were edited, all devices were updated as well and subsequent backups (from yours and her device) reflected the changed contacts (and any other data that may have been edited like calendars). Your first task is to change your daughter over to a new account before she makes other changes.
The only way I see for getting back contacts is to restore them from a time machine backup, assuming you also have a Mac included in the account which syncs the contacts. However, I'm not sure whether time machine includes contacts from iCloud along with those that are local, "on my Mac".
Otherwise the deleted contacts are gone.
