Bean class not compliling

In a jsp page, a method of bean class is being called as.... <% beanId.BeanClassMethod( ); %> The problem with my program is that my bean class is not compiling. This bean method uses some "outside" classes which are in a single jar file. I have included that jar file in my classpath. The jar file includes classes in different paths like
a/b/c/x.class
a/b/d/y.class
a/b/e/z.class
Now what I want to know is whether I need to import these classes in my bean class and if yes how? I did import them as below:
import a.b.c.*;
but the compiler gives error as:
package a/b/c does not exists.
Can anyone figure where am I going wrong?

Follow the following steps and your problem will be sorted -
1. Find out if the mentioned class files are present in this jar file
Move to the directory where this jar file is placed.
Like, if your jar file is located in C:/myFiles/myjar.jar , move to
C:/myFiles > jar tf myjar.jar
when you execute this command, you will see the contents of this jar file as -
a\b\c\x.class
a\b\d\y.class
a\b\e\z.class
This ensures that required class files are located in this jar file.
If you could not see the required class files, you have caught the problem.
2. Ensure the directory hierarchy represents the package
First of all the set the class path to include the current directory in the classpath as-
C:/myFiles > set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;.
This appends dot(.) to the class path and this . represents the current directory.
Use the following command -
C:/myFiles > javap a.b.c.x
If you get the message like -
Class 'a.b.c.x' not found
it infers that this class doesnot have a package statement in it or the package statement doenot reflect the said directory hierarchy.
If you see the list of methods it means that everything is fine and the only problem is that directory n which this jar file is locate is not in classpath
Similarly check these other classes
C:/myFiles > javap a.b.d.y
C:/myFiles > javap a.b.e.z
Hope this helps

    Okay, first things first,
    You did put the class into a package? good.
    You did compile the class, so we no longer care about the .java file, only the .class file, right?
    You read documentation on deploying applications in tomcat? If not, do a google search.
    As was started earlier, keep things under Tomcat/webapps/yourapp at least until you get things up and working. Then worry about changing paths, mapped drives, and all those other things. Do this one step at a time and you will get there. Try to do too much at once and you will get lost and frustrated.
    If you find the documetnation about deplying your applications in tomcat, you will also find info on how to change the absolute path of the context and/or host
    A good place to start is: http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-4.1-doc/index.html

    I'd try jar-ing the JavaBean and explicitly putting the path to the jar file into that tag.  This would ensure no issues with subfolder access.Sincerely,Ted Ueda

  • Class not Found when accessing Proxy class from backing bean in VC.

    Hi All,
    I'm attempting to access a class of a webservice(generated as a proxy) within my ADF application and invoke the method within a backing bean of the View Controller(bean scope : backing bean). The proxy has generated an ObjectFactory class among other classes. When I access this Object factory class from within the backing bean, the application throws a Class not found error.
    I don't know where the error lies since I've declared the View Controller of the ADF application dependent on the Proxy and I've imported the class and accessing it within a backing bean. How would you suggest I approach resolveing this.
    JDev : 1.1.1.4
    Thank you.
    Regards
    PP.

    Hello Arun,
    Thank you for suggesting a Data control, but my requirement isn't to drag and drop the method as a button. It's more of a behind the scnes updating data via a database adapter requirement.
    I've resolved the issue. turns out, my deployment archive didn't include the proxy.jpr. Once included it works likea charm.
    Thanks

  • Dynamic Java bean classes for XSD using JAVA (not any external batch or sh)

    Hi,
    How can we generate dynamic Java bean classes for XSD (dynamically support All XSD at runtime)?
    Note: - Through java code via only needs to generate this process. (Not using any xjc.bat or xjc.sh from JAXB).
    Thanks

    Muthu wrote:

    Pretty sure you can't. Probably can do a lot of them with years of work.
    And can probably can do a resonable subset suitable for the business at hand with only a moderate effort.
    Note: - Through java code via only needs to generate this process. (Not using any xjc.bat or xjc.sh from JAXB).The Sun jdk, not jre, comes with the java compiler as part of it. You can create in memory class (I believe in memory) based on java code you create.
    I believe BCEL alllows the same thing (in memory) but you start with byte codes.
    You could just create a dynamic meta data solution as well, via maps and generic methods. Not as fast though.

  • Class not found: org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException

    I am deploying an .ear file to an Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.2. In one container, it deploys correctly. In another conatiner on the same server and configured identically (or at least I believe), I try to deploy the same .ear file but I get the error:

    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException
    Anyone would have an idea why? Thanks in advance.

    Greetings,
    Your error implies that the classpath for the second deployment might be wrong. This cannot be the package if you are deploying an identical ear file. Can you look at the setup for the second container from the admin to see if there is an RMI connection configured incorrectly? Check your opmn.xml file for port info:
    <port id="rmi" range="12401-12500"/>and check the server using netstat -a to see if the configured port is open for use before starting the OAS.

  • Could not load bean class

    Hi all,
    I am beginner to J2EE technology. But I have a few experience in java programming and JSP. Now, I got a problem when I develop a very tiny bean. I can compile java files and I can make new application via deployment tool. But I cannot create new Enterprise bean and I got an error like "The class (mypackage.MyBean) could not be loaded". How can i solve that problem? Pls help me. I used JDK 1.5.0_02 and J2EE 1.4.
    regards,
    mielay

    hi,
    I am sure that all of my bean class, component interface and home inteface is under correct package and I also imported package declaration correctly.
    But I got such error...
    thanks,

  • BeanInstantiationException: Could not instantiate bean class

    Hi,
    I am working on a small part of j2ee app and creating a couple beans. Now I get stuck here:
    This is my bean class:
    public class KomplexniPseudoOsoba extends POsoby{
         public KomplexniPseudoOsoba() {
              super();
         public class KomplexniOsoba extends PAdresy{
              public KomplexniOsoba() {
                   super();
    I want the inner KomplexniOsoba class to be my bean. Now when i add it to webmvc-config.xml (using springframework) like this:
    <bean id="KomplexniOsoba" name="KomplexniOsoba"
         class="cz.edu.mub.pef.ja.xkosteln.model.KomplexniPseudoOsoba$KomplexniOsoba">
    </bean>
    I get
    org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'KomplexniOsoba' defined in ServletContext resource [WEB-INF/spring/webmvc-config.xml]: Instantiation of bean failed; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.BeanInstantiationException: Could not instantiate bean class [cz.edu.mub.pef.ja.xkosteln.model.KomplexniPseudoOsoba$KomplexniOsoba]: No default constructor found; nested exception is java.lang.NoSuchMethodException: cz.edu.mub.pef.ja.xkosteln.model.KomplexniPseudoOsoba$KomplexniOsoba.<init>()
    What am I doing wrong the constructor is there!

    and BTW I absolutely love Oracle forums... some people were sad when Oracle bought Sun but I HAVE TO say that the support went WAY UP. I love the speed with which people reply here. ... It is incredible compared to e.g. Spring forums...I don't know anything about the spring forums, but most of the people who respond in the oracle java forums are the same people who responded in the sun java forums (and in a similar fashion).
    Thank you :)no problem.

  • Can not call bean class from JSp/Tomcat 5.5

    hello everyone...
    i m using one bean class Parser which is called by discussion.jsp page. i put class file in webapps/grid/WEB-INF/classes and JSP page is in webapps/grid/. The whole combination is working fine for tomcat 3.3.2 but not working properly in tomcat 5.5.
    Error is as follow...
    org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to compile class for JSP
    An error occurred at line: 38 in the jsp file: /discussion.jsp
    Generated servlet error:
    Parser cannot be resolved or is not a typeplease help me....
    Thank in Advance

    You still need to import the class from the default package. As a word of advice you should put the class in a package. The later versions of Tomcat do not play well with bean classes that are not in packages.

  • Session scope managed bean is not instantiating?

    We have the need to use a session bean (rather than pageFlowScope) in our application.  But it looks like the session beans are not being instantiated at run time like other beans are.  I created a simple test case to verify.  One bean, named "MySessionBean", defined in the task flow as Session scope, then referenced in a view with an input text box, value:  #{sessionScope.MySessionBean.value1}. When I run the application,  I just get PropertyNotFoundException, Target Unreachable, 'MySessionBean' returned null.
    If I simply change the bean to use pageFlowScope, everything works fine.   I have debug code in the bean constructor, and it never gets called.   Is there some other step I am missing to have ADF instantiate the session bean?

    No luck, I tried it in both adfc-config.xml, and faces-config.xml.  I also tried moving the call to my view, from my bounded taskflow, into the adfc-config unbounded task flow, and then I ran that instead.  Still got the same error.    Here is my code from the the last round of tests with the view called in the main adfc-config.xml unbounded taskflow:
    adfc-config.xml:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252" ?>
    <adfc-config xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/controller" version="1.2">
          <view id="testView">
                <page>/testView.jspx</page>
          </view>
          <managed-bean id="__2">
          <managed-bean-name id="__5">MySessionBean</managed-bean-name>
          <managed-bean-class id="__4">test.MySessionBean</managed-bean-class>
          <managed-bean-scope id="__3">session</managed-bean-scope>
        </managed-bean>
    </adfc-config>
    testView.jspx:
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
    <jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.1"
              xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"
              xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html"
              xmlns:af="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/rich">
      <jsp:directive.page contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8"/>
      <f:view>
        <af:document id="d1">
          <af:form id="f1">
            <af:inputText label="Label 1" id="it1"
                          value="#{sessionScope.MySessionBean.value1}"/>
          </af:form>
        </af:document>
      </f:view>
    </jsp:root>
    MySessionBean.java:
    package test;
    public class MySessionBean {
        private String value1="Hello World";
        public MySessionBean() {
            super();
        public void setValue1(String value1) {
            this.value1 = value1;
        public String getValue1() {
            return value1;

  • Multiple instances of the same bean class in session?

    Im trying to think of a way to have multiple instances of the same bean class in session scope using JSF. For example, lets say that I have two <h:dataTable>s on the same page. They both use the backing bean called genericBean. Now, the content for genericBean will be different for each <h:dataTable>. In fact, the data source that backs genericBean is not known until runtime. It could be a database, web service, etc.
    What I would like is for when JSF needs access genericBean instead of looking for the value with key genericBean in the session map it looks for genericBean_[some runtime ID]. I could specify this id in EL on a custom component, as a request parameter or whatever.
    I think that I need the bean to be in session scope because the tables are complex and I want them to be editable.
    I have some ideas about how I can do this but I was wondering if someone has already solved this problem or if there is a standard way to do this using tools like Shale, etc.
    Thanks,
    Randy

    Well, I came up with an interesting solution to this so I thought that I would post it here.
    I have a page that looks like this.
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>My Page</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <f:view>
    <f:subview id="component1">
    <jsp:include page="component.jsp">
    <jsp:param name="id" value="a" />
    </jsp:include>
    </f:subview>
    <hr>
    <f:subview id="component2">
    <jsp:include page="component.jsp">
    <jsp:param name="id" value="b" />
    </jsp:include>
    </f:subview>
    </f:view>
    </body>
    </html>
    And component.jsp looke like this.
    <f:verbatim>
    <p>
    <h1>Component
    </f:verbatim>
    <h:outputText value=" #{param.id}" />
    <f:verbatim>
    </h1>
    </p>
    </f:verbatim>
    <h:form>
    <h:outputText value="#{component.id}" />
    <h:outputText value="#{component.value}" />
    <h:commandButton value="increment" action="#{component.increment}" />
    <h:commandButton value="decrement" action="#{component.decrement}" />
    <f:verbatim>
    <input type="hidden" name="id"
    value="</f:verbatim><h:outputText value="#{param.id}"/><f:verbatim>" />
    </f:verbatim>
    </h:form>
    The idea is that I want component.jsp to be initialized differently based on the id param. The component managed bean is configured to be in session scope but I want the component instance for id a and id b to be different instances in session scope. Therefore, I added a custom variable resolver to handle this.
    public Object resolveVariable(FacesContext context, String name) {
    // This id will be different for the different subviews.
    HttpServletRequest request = (HttpServletRequest) context.getExternalContext() .getRequest();
    String id = request.getParameter("id");
    // If there is an id in the request then check if this is a bean that can have multiple
    // instances in session scope.
    if ((id != null) && (id.length() > 0)) {
    ExternalContext ec = context.getExternalContext();
    // Build the new name for the key of this bean
    String newName = name + "_" + id;
    Object value = null;
    // See if the bean instance already esists.
    if ((null == (value = ec.getRequestMap().get(newName))) &&
    (null == (value = ec.getSessionMap().get(newName))) &&
    (null == (value = ec.getApplicationMap().get(newName)))) {
         // We could not find the bean instance in scope so create the bean
         // using the standard variable resolver.
    value = original.resolveVariable(context, name);
    // Now check if the bean implements that page component interface. If it is
    // a page component then we want to rename the key to access this bean so
    // that the instance is only used when the id is provided in the request.
    // For example, if there are two components (a and b) we will have in session scope
    // component_a and component_b. The will each point to a unique instance of the
    // Component bean class.
    if (value instanceof PageComponent) {
    // Try to get the value again
    if (null != (value = ec.getRequestMap().get(name))) {
         // Initialize the bean using the id
    ((PageComponent) value).initInstance(id);
    ec.getRequestMap().remove(name);
    ec.getRequestMap().put(newName, value);
    } else if (null != (value = ec.getSessionMap().get(name))) {
    ((PageComponent) value).initInstance(id);
    ec.getSessionMap().remove(name);
    ec.getSessionMap().put(newName, value);
    } else if (null != (value = ec.getApplicationMap().get(name))) {
    ((PageComponent) value).initInstance(id);
    ec.getApplicationMap().remove(name);
    ec.getApplicationMap().put(newName, value);
    return value;
    return original.resolveVariable(context, name);
    }

  • Backing bean properties not getting updated

    I have an input text in my JSP page and it is component-bound to backing bean. The problem is that when I change value of the InputText in the JSP, the value is not getting updated in the backing bean.
    Here is the InputField definition in JSP page.
    <h:inputText binding="#{backing_employeeEdit.firstName}"
    id="firstName"/>
    and here is the setter in backing bean
    public void setFirstName(HtmlInputText inputText1) {
    this.firstName = inputText1;
    Pls note that there is no validation errors because the page navigates successfully. The only problem is that new value is not updated.

    I don't know, wht exactly u wants to do... Here is java code and is working fine for me...
    Emp.java
    public void action() {
         System.out.println(inputText.getValue());
         Emp tt = new Emp();
         inputText.setValue(inputText.getValue().toString()+"bilal");
         tt.setInputText(inputText);
         System.out.println(inputText.getValue());
    JSP...
    <f:view>
    <h:form>
    <h:inputText binding="#{emp.inputText}" />
    <h:commandButton value="submit" action="#{emp.action}" />
    </h:form>
    </f:view>
    faces-config file contents....
    <managed-bean>
              <managed-bean-name>emp</managed-bean-name>
              <managed-bean-class>
                   com.nous.application.Emp
              </managed-bean-class>
    <managed-bean-scope>session</managed-bean-scope>
    </managed-bean>
    Here scope has to be session, otherwise u will lose old value...
