Been waiting since June for landline connection in...

Despite numerous contacts with BT, I am still no closer to getting a landline installed in my new build home nearly 4 months after I ordered it (having been told it would be sorted within 21 days max).  This is despite a letter of complaint and a number of confirmed engineer appointments which have resulted in me sitting in the house twiddling my thumbs for half a day only for no-one to turn up.
I keep getting billed for broadband, which would be fine if I actually had it and today I have learned that the landline number that was allocated to my account has now been given to someone else, which means I am back behind the starting line.
Every contact with BT seems to be an object lesson in total incompetence, including the fact that my issue was passed to the escalation team who closed down the call before it was resolved because the engineers (ever so reliable before that point) had confirmed an appointment (guess what, they didn't turn up again).
Please don't suggest that the developers are at fault here, there have been numerous contacts between them and BT and people up the same street have got their landlines.
What else can I possibly do to just get connected to a telephone line and get broadband.  It's not as if I can even choose a different supplier because BT have a monopoly on landline installation.

    The engineers don't have that information. That engineer means he hasn't had one in HIS queue for ages.
    There have been large engineer backlogs, my friend ordered their line around the same time and got swithced on on 12th Jan.

    Howdy Kathleen,
    It sounds like your iPhone is syncing to your library, but seems to be getting stuck on the last step. I would use the troubleshooting in the following article to help you resolve that issue, named:
    iTunes: Resolve USB-related alerts
    See if the cable connection at the device or computer has come loose or unplugged.
    Unplug the cable you're using to connect your iOS device from the USB port on your computer, and then reconnect it. Then unplug it from your iOS device, and reconnect it.
    Remove any third-party battery packs or cases from the device and ensure that the USB cable is connected directly to the port on the device.
    If your Lightning or 30-pin cable is connected to a keyboard, display or USB hub, try plugging it directly into a USB port on the computer instead. 
    Close any virtualization apps (such as Parallels or VMWare).
    These apps may interfere with your computer's ability to communicate over USB if they aren't properly configured, or up to date. If this resolves the issue, contact the developer of the app to see if an update is available.
    Restart your computer.
    Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
    If you're using an accessory or third-party cable to connect your device, try using an Apple cable with the device instead.
    Update to the latest version of iTunes if you haven't already.
    Disconnect other USB devices from your computer, except for your keyboard and mouse. Then, reconnect your iOS device. If the issue is resolved, reconnect the other USB devices one at a time. Make sure your iOS device is still recognized by the computer after adding back each device. 
    If one of these steps resolves the issue, but it comes back later, make sure you haven't changed how the device is connected. For example, check to see if you plugged the device into a specific accessory, or used a specific cable that reintroduced the issue.

    At this point you have no choice but to update the or delete them and reinstall them since you wont be able to use them until they update - or come out of the "waiting" loop.
    Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
    If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
    Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
    You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
    You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.

    Seems like so many are having the same problem, but Apple has not offered any advice or statements yet.  I was also asked to verify my apple id, but no email arrived and I have been locked out of my itunes account and icloud ever since...this apple id has been verified for many years already and it makes no sense that it needs re-verification.  I researched my account at http:// appleid.apple.com and found that my original apple id ([email protected]) was still associated with my current email address, which happens to be my current apple id as well.  (This merging occurred a few years ago at the request of Apple, mind you.  I did not choose to make this change.  But now my @mac.com original apple id and my current email address are no longer merged for access itunes account.) 
    So, I reverified my original @mac.com apple id which asked for a password change and credit card information for itunes.  I reluctantly did this simply to have access to itunes...but, this created a "NEW" itunes account that is no longer linked to my regular itunes account that I am currently locked out of.  (Strangely, the email address associated with my @mac.com account is the same as my old account....I am totally confused now)
    I then signed into my iCloud account, through my iphone, using the @mac.com account.  And now that part works.  But still locked out of itunes account.

    The OS X Lion installer takes more than 4 GB of space, so it is normal for most Internet connections to take the download more than an hour.
    If you want to see the download progress, open the Mac App Store and go to Purchases.
    Before upgrading, make a backup of your files with Time Machine and check that your apps are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com

    There are no subscriptions for mobiles only, so you need to purchase one covering calls to landlines and mobiles.

    I just turned on my lap top,15 minutes ago and fire fox still hasn't loaded,I recently upgraded to fire fox 4 and since it has been terrible.

    I've posted this elsewhere but am getting not satisfaction so here goes again:
    I've had this problem since Firefox 6.0 came out. I reinstalled a backup disk image file from back in June, uninstalled FF, did all the updates, installed FF 3.6.21 and everything was fine. After using it for a while, I downloaded and installed FF 6.0 and the same problem is back. When I go to various websites, part of the images on the page will load, then it stalls out. Sometimes hitting stop and refresh will help, sometimes not. I've tried various patches recommended but none do anything to help.
    My system is Windows 7 Pro SP1. IE works fine. I'm really getting frustrated with this and almost ready to give up and start using Chrome.

    I'm in a very tight financial spot, and was hoping I could cancel text, or something.   My son hasn't used his phone since he got his own service in June of last year, and it's just silly to continue paying for it.  Very curious how the account continues to show text messages connected with the phone. 

    You might look into one of the services that helps match you up with a buyer that wants a phone and willing to take the contract with it (such as celltradeusa.com for instance).  I am listing this site only as an example, there are others as well.  Or alternatively find a friend or other family member who wants the phone and again willing to accept the contract with it.  It is legal and allowed by Verizon (and other cell companies) to transfer the contract to another person.

  • Can't get a landline connected

    We have been waiting seven weeks for a date for a connection, and still no idea when we will have a line connected. On the original date when we were due an engineer visit we waited in all day for a no show. Every week we are told we will get a connection the next week.
    The broadband supplier we chose is EE, and they are unable to provide the broadband until BT complete the exchange work. It does look like if we don't use BT as the provider we are left out in the cold.
    We used the BT complaints system yesterday and got a prompt response telling us that we need to complain to EE. That's not helpful, and the delay is wholly down to BT. The OFCOM website tells us we can't make a complaint to them for 60 days after we first complain - that means unless BT gets a grip we will be unable to get a response from OFCOM until we have waited nearly three months.
    In a competitive market we would be able to go to a different supplier. BT have the monopoly and have a poor attitude to customer service.

    I have to say i had my broadband from the orginal company over 13 years ago,i think it was freeserve they were then taken over by wanadoo and then by ee a couple of years ago,i always stay with a company if they are good more so with the customer service side of things as that is where all things are sorted.Anyway around 6 months ago i started having trouble with very slow internet and it was cutting out all the  time,went through the usual rubbish of have you done this that and the other,which if course i had,you can tell they are reading of a menu.Was sorted for a couple of weeks,well sort of and then it was worse we could hardly use the internet about 20 mins a day,Phoned them kept being promised someone would phone,as ever no one did given many excuses so for me that was it,dont like being lied to and i had given them many chances.Signed up to bt,hub received by the date said but no internet at all tried everything,anyway said they would send an engineer,lovely lady came turned out the hub was no good and she also sorted out the noisey line which ee on more then a few accasions said was fine(no way was it fine the crackling etc was awful also explained to them sometimes it was worse then others)my internet has been great since and so far customer service has been second to none i hope this continues,EE let me down badly and never sorted it out.
