Before I call Presonus..

Hello,
I am having trouble with a Presonus Firebox. Before I call them I wanted to drop a post here to get some feedback.
Equipment:
iBook G4 1gb ram
WD USB 2.0 external hard drive for audio tracks
Presonus Firebox
Shure 57 mic
M Audio Condenser Mic
NEW firewire cable for Firebox
Situation:
I just purchased and setup the Firebox. I swapped out the included firewire cable with a "better" one per the salesman's direction at Guitar Center. I configured my Audio Preferences settings to use the Firebox for Input and Output and set the levels to 100% I configured the Firebox Mixer and set the sliders to full as well as bypassed the Mixers Out to avoid feedback and noise through the monitor speakers. I first tried my Condenser mic to record some acoustic guitar. I found that I had to turn the Preamp gain wide open on the Firebox and nestle right up to the condenser to get even the weakest of signal in Garageband. (yes phantom power was on) I then enabled the Firebox Control for the +12db boost on all inputs. Still getting a signal but it is not what I expected. The signal is not even getting to -8db in Garageband. This is a condenser mic that works fine with an EMU 1820 on windoze. I am a bit frustrated so I remove the condenser and hook up the Shure 57. I placed it infront of my amp and go to town. Same results...Better signal but I would expect to get clips on the Firebox with everything set to full. No luck. So, am I missing something? The preamps seem to be weak. The gain is more like an on off switch and provide no value due to the fact that I have to crank them to get a decent signal. Furthermore, the mixer software that came with the Firebox seems to be of no value for I get no usable signal unless they are wide open. The condenser should NOT need cranked at the preamp. I should NOT have to crank every setting I can find to get a subpar input signal. I have to me missing a setting or configuration somewhere. This product is of no use if this is, in fact, how it is designed to work. Am I missing something?? Is the product defective?
Thanks!
Mojo

Sounds like you may be running into the same problem.
I took the Firebox back to Guitar Center and spoke to a salesman who owns a Firebox and was very happy with it. We spoke about my situation at length and he was pretty sure it was defective. We finally decided to hook it up to one of the iMacs they had on display. It produced the same results. The salesman grabbed the in-house audio recording and Mac expert to review the setup. After 30 minutes of toying with it on multiple Macs using a variety of apps including GB3, Logic, Logic Express, Cubase LE and Sonic they agreed it was a defective device. I was able to swap it out for an M Audio FireWire 410.
I must say that the M Audio FireWire 410 was perfect. Very well built. Many output options. Clean Preamps and very very low latency.
Presonus...they told me the device was working fine and suggested I contact Apple...not very impressed with Presonus.
Hope you find this helpful and good luck.

One more thing. I just update my iphone that my boss gave to me but it seems to be like it giving me some trouble. My iphone was updated not too long and was successful. I try to lock into it and it telling me emergency call. I plug it to my itune and it telling me that the sim card is not valid or supported. So I inserted my sim card that I usually use to call and it still saying the same. Please help me get into it.

And as far as paying for phone support, here are a few tips:
If you call your carrier first and then they route you to Apple, you usually don't have to pay for phone support.
If you are talking to Apple and they ask you to pay a support fee, ask if you can get an exception this time.  That usually works once, but they keep track of the times you've been granted such an exception.
If you still end up paying the support fee, that fee only applies if it's not a hardware related issue.  In other words, if it can be fixed by just talking over the phone and following Apple's instructions, then the fee applies.  But if your device is deemed to have a hardware failure that caused the issue, then the fee should not apply, and you can ask for it to be waived after the fact.
This forum is free, and almost all of the technical support articles the Apple tech advisors use are available on this website.  Literally 99% of what they can do over the phone is just walking you through the publicly available support articles.  In other words, you're paying the fee to have them do your research for you.  It's like hiring a research consultant to go look stuff up in the public library so you don't have to.  You're capable of doing it; you'd just rather pay someone to do it for you.
It's like Starbucks.  You know how to make coffee.  Everyone knows how to make coffee.  And Starbucks coffee isn't any better than what you could make at home for far less.  But you want the convenience.  So you're really paying a convenience fee.  Milk is more expensive at 7-Eleven than it is at the grocery store... because it's a convenience store.

  • How to add  variables in SOAP header before to call my Physical Service?

    In ODSI,
I created a Physical Service for an external WebService (third part).
In a logical Service (inside a XQuery Extension Function) i am calling the previous Physical Service. However, I need to add some variables in the SOAP Header Request before to call that Physical Service.
    Thanks

Since your webservice accepts a SOAP Header, the wsdl for your webservice should describe that SOAP header (as well as the body). And when ODSI creates the physical data service from the wsdl, the read function will take two arguments - one is the SOAP header and the other is the SOAP body. All you need to do is populate the soap header and body.
If your wsdl does not describe the soap header - fix it so that it does. If need be, make a copy of the wsdl, modify it to describe the soap header, save it in your DataSpace, and then (re)create the physical data service from the wsdl.

  • How do i get rid of the message "the time availiable for this call is" before every call

How do i get rid of the message "the time availiable for this call is" before every call

        cheap.phone.owner,
I understand you want to deactivate the message advising you of your balance every time you make a call. To obtain information about your Prepaid service, you may contact them by dialing "*611 SEND" from your wireless phone, or (888) 294-6804 from any phone, to speak with a Customer Service Representative.

  • Info i type before the call had gone.

this evening i was entering some stuff in the calendar on the phone, then a call came though answer it. after the conversation i return back to the calendar to carry on typing more stuff. i cannot belive the info i type before the call had gone.
Wow still no fix , can't even iron out the bugs on firmware before release a shiny update

No different when adding a new event and before selecting Done to save the event, selecting the Home button to open another application. This quits the Calendar application.
An automatic save or in effect selecting Done when leaving the Calendar application while entering an event before finished and selecting Done should be implemented.
This isn't a bug, just no option for an automatic save before selecting Done for an event when quitting the application.

  • 2 beeps heard in earpiece before outgoing call connects

I have scoured the internet and called Verizon yet I can't seem to figure out why my phone is doing what it's doing...for the past 1-2 months, whenever I make an outgoing call on my iPhone 5, I hear 2 beeps in the earpiece before the call connects (I hear it when on speaker phone as well).
The sound is similar to the beep/tone you hear if someone calls in while you're on the phone. My location doesn't matter (at home, out and about, etc...), I hear the beeps everytime.
Does anyone else hear 2 beeps when attempting to make a call? I've looked at every possible setting on my phone, did a couple of hard resets, and nothing seems to work in turning it off.
BTW, the beeps are more annoying than anything (calls still connect and are audible) but my phone never did this before and was just curious.
    Thanks!

    Hello!
More than likely your phone is under a network extender coverage area. You can check this by dialing #48 and call - if it says "You are under network extender coverage" - this means you are pulling from either yours or a nearby neighbor's Wireless Network Extender.

  • Before I call Apple.............

Before I call Apple using my complimentary 90 day support, I hope to get help here.  I am more confused after reading countless support documents.
I bought my friend a new ipad air, have it all setup and backed up in the cloud. She has no computer to use itunes.  This device has never been synced in itunes.  My friend has a CD she wants on her new ipad air.  I imported the CD into my itunes library on my computer, thinking I could just connect her ipad air to my computer and itunes and install this particular cd to her ipad air, but that is where I was unsuccessful.
Please help with getting this cd in my itunes library to my friends lpad air that has no computer.
    Thanks in advance.
    Rick

As long as you understand that Apple can rightfully refuse to replace or fix the screen since it is not a covered issue. If you are near an Apple store you might try going in and talking to them. Some people have claimed that Apple store reps replaced their iPhone on the spot when they presented it to them with a broken screen. At the end of the day, the worse answer you will get from calling or going in is that the phone isn't covered and you have to buy a new one or pay for the repair yourself.

  • Playing Annoucement to called party before conference call starts

    Hi,
I have an interesting requirement here.
My customer wants to play annoucement to the participants of adhoc and meet me conference before bridging them in call. The announcement would be something like this "This call will be recorded, press 1 if you want to join the conference press 0 to hang up". If caller presses '1' then the he should be bridged.
Is it possible to use IVR server for this??
For the adhoc conference this is what I thought:
The conference initiator calls an a number to initiate IVR Script, the script asks him to enter the number to be called(conference participant's number), then the IVR script places call on this number(use "place call function"), once the recipient answers the call, IVR will announce the prompt to him "This call will be recorded, press 1 if you want to join the conference press 0 to hang up".
    Questions:
1.Now how to merge this call with the conference initiator call(as conference call) if recipient presses 1??
2.What treatment can be given to the conference call initiator, for the suration when IVR is placing call out? Can we give him some hold music??
2.Is there any better way? Can I use "Call Consult Transfer" function instead of place "call function"??
3.Will it be easier/possible to use Unity instead of IVR server for this?
4.How can the same be done for meetme conference??
    Thanks

yes that works to use the new contact which set by 'set contact info' step.
So now I am able to play prompt to called number after the call been connected.
But I found I couldn't collect entered digit by Called person if I use Menu step.
For instance, if I use 'Menu' to collect the digit from Called person, then when enter '1', redirect the original (or this new) call flow to reception.
My sub steps within Menu step (using new contact session) seems no working.
    Any thoughts?
General idea is: I can use IVR to place outbound calls, play prompts, then collect digits from called party and make sub call flows decision.
    Thanks

  • Verizon wireless before phone calls

Is there a way too turn off the feature that gives a voice alert saying "Verizon Wireless" before placing or receiving a phone call?

Try Settings > Sound and uncheck Roaming Tone

  • GetReportPath before MainSequence call

We are running 2012 with a flavor of the Sequential Model.  We are going to have the Report Path option set to "by expression" so we can set the folders based on Serial Number and other inputs we take from the operator at run time.  At the moment I'm duplicating this expression "by hand" just before the MainSequence call so that it will match the Report Options setting, but I don't like doing it this way.  I just found that the path gets calculated in Model Pugins - UUT Start in ModelSupport.seq which calls Model Plugin - UUT Start in NI_ReportGenerator.seq before Main Sequence, but it doesn't seem like this Path gets passed back out and it seems to get calculated again after Main Sequence is called in Model Plugin - UUT Done.
It seems like I'm overlooking something and the Report Path must be available before Main Sequence call even when using an expression.

    Hey SmokeMonster,
It is possible to get the report information in the process model, but it's a bit less intuitive. You'd need to index into the array of model plugins and get the path from there. One thing to keep in mind about this approach is that it's dependent on the order of your plugins as configured on the Configure > Result Processing screen. If this will never change (for most developers, it doesn't) then there shouldn't be any problems. Otherwise, you could include a check to make sure it's the correct plugin.
The actual path to this data in the model  is going to start off as Locals.ModelPluginConfiguration.Plugins[0].PluginSpecific.RuntimeVariables. If you set a breakpoint in your Sequential model, you can navigate to this location at runtime and see the data associated with the plugin. Notice there is a "UUTReportFilePath" member inside the RuntimeVariables container. This UUTReportFilePath property has a comment which describes in which situations the path will be stored here. If it's not stored in this location, it'll be stored inside the PerSocket container as described in the comment.
I do think adding get/set functionality as you describe could be helpful for these situations. • Change ANI before redirecting calls

I want to change ANI(calling number) before transfer the calls to the voice mail.  Is there a Step in the CCX editor i can use to change ANI?
Depend on the DNIS number CCX received, i want to change the ANI as the DNIS number and send the calls to the Unity voice mail.
    For example:
    -called number is 1234,
    -calling number is 5678,
    -Voice mail number is 7890.
if the call center receives the call from the above number and if all agents are busy or after hours,
I want to change the ANI to 1234 or some other number than transfer the call to 7890.
I think this is possbile but i can't seem to find which step i need to use for this.
    Any help would really appreciated.
    thanks,

Are you sure you meant to change the ANI to 5678 or to 1234 ? By default ANI of calling number is 5678 so there is no need to change.
