Best Approach: All IDocs in one software component or not

Hi All
We are in the process of importing IDocs into PI system. We are maintaining software components based on legacy system.
We have two oprions to imports idocs into software components
1. Import all idocs into common software component (In this case i am thinking with respect to transports)
2. Import to respective legacy software component
Could you please suggest best approach?

Actually we have some idocs common across sofwtware components. Thats why we are planning go for common software component which can maintain all ECC objects.
If we maintain like this, is there any problem in test and production mainly during transports- dependency from one SWC to common SWC.

K remember while transporting only active objects can be transported and if the object you want to transport is not active then last active version will be transpoted.
While transporting design objects prerequisite the s/w comp version has to be same.

I am getting the following error :-

I see at least 3 errors
1. <RegionRenderer> <encodeAll> The region component with id: pt1:r1 has detected a page fragment with multiple root components.
the page fragment should only have a single component under the jsp:root tag. If you see more than one, wrap them in e.g. an af:panelGroupLayout or af:group component
2. SAPFunction.jspx/.xml" has an invalid character ".".
check the document (you can open it in JDeveloper if the customization was a seeded one. Seems that editing this file smething has gone bad
3. The expression "#{bindings..regionModel}" (that was specified for the RegionModel "value" attribute of the region component with id "pePanel") evaluated to null.
"pageeditorpanel" does seem to be missing in the PageDef file of the page holding the region

I have a problem, i want create a new project of Mobile Service Component, but, when i want select MyComponents [demo.sap.com], in the top appear:
"Software Component does not support selected Development Component Type. Required DCs are located in an SC that is not visible from the selected SC "

Hi Victor,
the issue is that the archive pool in your NWDS is not set up properly. Could you check the configuration of the development configuration? I guess you are developing in Local Development, right? Please check in the "Component Browser" that the two Software Components "NWMCLIENT" and "XOCA" are present and contain some DCs inside them. If this is not true, than something went wrong with your setup of the IDE. The modifications of the default.confdef are most likely not right.
Please come back to me if you don´t know how to proceed.

Best approach for IDOC - JDBC scenario

In my scenarion I am creating sales order(ORDERS04) in R/3 system and which need to be replicated in a SQL Server system. I am sending the order to XI as an IDoc and want to use JDBC for sending data to SQL Server. I need to insert data in two tables(header & details). Is it possible without BPM? Or what is the best approach for this?

Yes, this is possible without the BPM.
Just create the Corresponding Datatype for the insertion.
if the records to be inserted are different, then there wil be 2 different datatypes ( one for header and one for detail).
Do a mutlimapping, where your Source is mapped into the header and details datatype and then send using the JDBC sender adapter.

To access any Database from XI, you will have to install the corresponding Driver on your XI server.

Upgrade Support Package for one Software Component

Dear Experts,
I am new with SAP Basis Administrator and I have new task to upgrade EA-HR software component from release 600 sp30 to release 602 sp9.
Actually, EA-HR component in Development system already in release 602 sp9 while quality and production in release 600 sp30. This is where the problem started, since there is one SAP Note we need to apply that depends on the release version. The consultant wants to do the changes in development and transport it to quality then production. Since the way to apply SAP Note is vary based on EA-HR release version, the consultant wants the release version of EA-HR in all systems to be the same.
I have download support package for EA-HR 602 sp9.
My question is very basis, how to upgrade EA-HR component to release 602 sp9?

This is a no go... This is why most people call for a development freeze while the system is been patched.

You system is not consistent, transporting data into a system with a different patch set can cause serious problems. You are going to have to tell your consultant that he'll have to wait until the whole landscape is patched to the same level.
Who upgraded the component in DEV??
The note also states that this corrections are available for 600 so there was no need for 602 if you are not planning a EHP upgrade..

Illegal dependency while using a DC from one Software Component in another

SCENARIO
I have a Software Product (e.g. SP1) with 2 Software Components (e.g. SC1, SC2) defined in the SLD. Now, we have defined a track with these software components (as per the correct procedure).
This Development configuration was imported into NWDS and we have developed 2 WebDynPro Development Components under each of these Software Components (e.g. DC1 in SC1 ; DC 2 in SC2).
All works fine and everything is smooth till now.
The ISSUE
When I try to use DC1 of SC1 as a used component in DC2 of SC2, I get an error.
The exact step: In NWDS-> DC2, I go to USED DCs -> Add Used DC and try to add DC1's public part (all as per correct procedure),
I get the following error:
Illegal dependency: The compartment of com.test/xss/dc2(com.test_SC1) must explicitly use compartment of com.test/xss/dc1
This error comes only if DC1 is in SC1 and DC2 is in SC2. If 2 DCS are in the same SC (eg: DC1 and DC2 to SC1), then the error does not come.
Should we configure any compartment or other data in CBS/CMS?

In the SLD, has a dependency been setup between SC1 and SC2? If not, you will have to add this dependency, which is done in the same way as adding the initial SAP_JTECHS,
SAP_BUILDT and SAP-JEE dependencies to the SC.
Once the SC1 has been added to SC2, you will have to go to the Landscape Configurator (link is in the CMS), go to the Domain Data tab and click on Update CMS. Next, go to the Track Data tab, add the new SC and then click on Synchronize SC Dependencies. Click on the Save button and then do a "Save and Restore".

How do I best share all photos on one iMac with two user accounts?

I recently bought an iMac and Aperture. I am converting from a windows-based platform. My immediate pain point is the ability to share one library in Aperture under both my account and my wife's user account(like we do our iTunes, for example). We would both like access to all the photos, and I am searching for the simple way to both store them and manage them. Either of us may download the pics from our Canon 40D at any point, and our current photo count is nearing 40k & 175GB (and increasing rapidly).
I have read several support articles about where to place the library, most of those articles are dated around 2008. I have the library in the "shared" folder, not in a user folder. I have set the permissions so that each of our accounts have "read & write" access. My wife's user account is unable to access the library.
I currently have the original files in a directory structure sorted by years, then essentially events, and have not imported anything besides some test photos into Aperture.
Any advice on how to optimize our set-up so we can both view / sync to iPhones / manage / etc our collective photos would be greatly appreciated.

First off all I would recommend against shating between accounts since Aperture was not designed for this and your might encounter library corruption.
You might try this tip on Macworld.com. It requires you to use the Terminal though. Make sure you follow the commands exactly, without any typo's before you hit the enter key to execute a command. (And make a TimeMachine backup before you start.)
After you've complete this, start a new library in the place where you set the extended permissions on. Then everything should work.
A seccond tip is to setup the Aperture library on an external drive and set this volume(drive) to ignore ownership permissions.

Best approach to use 2 one dimensional position stages for laser engraving

I currently have two 1dimensional position stages (NRT150 from Thorlabs) that I want to use to hold a sample object as a fixed high power laser engraves the moving object. How should I go about programming these stages so that they can move together to engrave either an image or some lettering onto the object?

But you've told us nothing about how they are to operate.
Somebody else has speculated they are GPIB or RS232.
Is is GPIB? Is it RS232? Is it TCP? Does it have analog inputs?
Does it have a command set?
I don't understand what you need to know.

Fragments with more than one root component may not display correctly ...

Using JDev 11.1.1.3; have a page fragment that contains a layout component for the content, but also an af:popup definition as child to the root tag of the fragment. I get the above design-time warning; wondering whether this is customarily ignored when the secondary components are popups, or whether there is a better way of defining the popup which needs to package with a fragment ?

I get it in the structure pane along with the other Warnings (eg: Reference selectedRow not found).

... would put 1 warning in the Structure pane alerting developer to the fact that the popup isn't expected.

Unable to create DC using software component

Hi,
I have created Software component, and later downloaded track into my NWDS but while I am trying to create DC using above Software Component which is in gray out.
The software component does not support the selected development component type. At least one required DC is not visible.
I am working on CE7.2, NWDS v7.2 SP04 PAT0008

Hi Dev,
Please check required dependancy for the software component which you have created for CE7.2 track and make entries in the Name reservation for custom development. Once you modify then stop/start SLD server. then in the landscape configurator, do the update CMS.
Please check all the required parameters in CMS are updated properly and you have checkin and imported component in checkin and development tab repestively in transport studio.

Hi,
In thise case your SC2 Software Component is dependent on SC1.
Go to the SLD, go to the software component SC2 and you will have an option Dependency and as shown in michal's blog make this SC2 dependent on SC1.
Next, reimport your Software Components SC1 and SC2 in your IR . The old objects will contnue to exists but still clear the SLD cache, and reimport the SC1 and SC2 from the SLD.
Now in SC2 you will see a new option called BASIS objects under which you can see the message interfaces of SC1.
