Best setting to export an HDV sequence to Encore

I have a sequence in a Premiere CS3 project (HDV NTSC preset) and I want to export it to Encore. What is the best setting to export a movie to be imported by Encore?
As a test I have exported it as DV NTSC (720 x 480) but final quality is poor.

Are you planning on burning a BD Project, or do you want to down-rez to SD?
Good luck,

  • What is the best setting for exporting an HD sequence as DV?

I want to make sure that my end product is the highest quality and for some reason I don't think I am getting it. when I play it on my big screen, it doesn't look sharp.
I am doing a project weekly that has 3 movies; one is nothing but pictures trasitioning to music. The second is a corporate TV 30 second spot that I converted to a .mov file (it came to me as a super huge .wmv file). The third is high def with photos to music.
For some reason, when I put all three in the same time line, it freezes FCP. (I guess that is another thread....) So I am doing all three in separate timelines, then bringing them all into DVD Studio Pro.
I do the clips 1 and 3 in HD, but have to export them as apple pro res 422 1280x480 30 because if I go "current settings", it makes it a HD .mov. The reason I don't want this is because in DVD Studio, I can't have 2 HD clips and 1 that is not. (I posted that problem in that forum and figured out that was the reason why the DVD wasn't playing)
So my question: am I down grading this HD sequence the best way? Here are the sequence's settings:
    frame size: 1440x810
    pixel aspect ratio: hd (1440x1080)
    field dom: Upper (odd)
    editing timebase: 29.97
Quicktime Video setting: compressor hdv 1080i60
Also, the fact that a 7 minute movie is only taking 10 minutes to render makes me nervous.......
    Thanks in advance!

    Aubry,
why don't you send your sequences straight to Compressor first, encode your movies as MPEG 2 and AC3 audio and import all assets in DVD studio PRO?

  • Best setting for exporting my fcp6 sequence for DVD

    Hello,
So I imported all my footage from an HD Cam into FCP 6... it gave all my clips the apple pro res 22 codec, with the 1440x1080 setting
I cut the sequence... and now I'm ready to get her onto a DVD.
When I go to export, what are my best options? I'm going to play the cut on an HD tv.
    Thanks

What kind of TV you play back isn't as important as the media and player. What kind of player (DVD, Blu-ray, HD-DVD) is it? To what kind of disc are you burning, (SD) DVD or HD-DVD? Also, how long is your sequence?

  • What is the best setting for export movie in widescreen format?

Please tell me what is the best setting for exporting movie in Widescreen format?

Like in After effect we use "NTSC D1 Widescreen Square Pixel".,
Carefully examine the codec and pixel dimensions of that output file. That's certainly easy for an experienced VFX person like yourself.
Then carefully look over the presets in FCP to find the same attibutes. You can also use the online help system for FCP and search for "D1"
However, your question remains unanswerable because we don't know how you're getting to the monitor. What are you playing back you AE sequences on that displays them on your LCD? You're assuming we know what you're doing and, I assure you, we do not.

  • Exporting an hdv sequence for sd viewing

can anyone advise on how best to export an HDV sequence (using compressor and dvdsp) for standard definition viewing?
i would be interested in hearing suggestions for both (a) letterboxing and (b) cropping in on the sides. thank you.
    danny

Though I'm woefully underqualified to step in for Jerry, what you're experiencing is one of those oddities about working in Native HDV - a standard definition DVDSP project will not accept it.
(And this qualifies as 'odd' because the same DVDSP project would accept the footage if it's Apple Intermediate Codec, a format that I suspect Jerry prefers and uses normally)
There is much debate about how to achieve the best quality conversion from HDV -> SD DVD without spending the 25+ hours that Compressor 2.x would take to do a proper format conversion. The most discussed of these workarounds is The Bonsai Solution™, so give that a shot and see how that works out for you.

  • What are the best setting to export video from after effects to get the best video quality ?

    Hi
I am editing a raw time lapse in after effects and also some short video clips I would like to export them from after effects and upload them online afterwards but i get a bit lost in exporting settings and formats and mbps..
What are the best settings to export a video and get best quality(high) in full hd 1080 ? in 4k ? and what would be the best setting to export animations/logo/intro and get best quality ?
    Thank you very much.

    Thanks for reply !
I used until now quicktime in H264 codec was that OK ?
    two more questions :
what are the export settings for 4k files for web/you tube ?
to play on my PC using  windows media player or Quicktime player and getting the best quality ?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Exporting a HDV sequence using Adobe media encoder

When editing a multi-camera shoot for insertion into a larger project, my method in PP1 DV days was to import the clips as AVIs, cut it together as a standalone sequence, and then export a completed AVI which I simply dropped into the final project.
With HDV footage in CS3, I imported the footage as 1440X1080 mpegs by default, cut it, and then used AME to export it as a 1440X1080 mpg2, to be dropped into the master project. The footage was captured 'Lower Field First', so would I be best to export the mpg2 as 'Lower Field First' or 'Deinterlaced' for maximum quality...or does it not matter? I assume exporting it as 'Upper Field First' wouldn't be a bright idea. I'll be authoring the final product to DVD to start with, but I want to keep all the source footage as 1440X1080 for a Blu-Ray release in a few months.
    All opinions gratefully received.

    > I imported the footage as 1440X1080 mpegs by default, cut it, and then used AME to export it as a 1440X1080 mpg2
    Why?
    > The footage was captured 'Lower Field First',
HDV is upper field first, so how did you capture from what?
    > I'll be authoring the final product to DVD to start with
So export with AME to MPEG2-DVD 720x480 LFF.

  • Cannot export entire HDV sequence

Hey guys - now I'M stuck.
I have a 16 min HDV 1080i sequence that I'm exporting out using FCP - sending it out as Pro Rez 1080i for easier dealing with.
But it only sends out 6 or so minutes - always stopping at the same spot.
    A few things -
    1 -in/out is set correctly
    2 - the export doesn't quit - it goes to 100%.
    Any thoughts?
    pJ

I'd get rid of the In/Out points, Send To Compressor, drop the ProRes 422 preset onto it, let Compressor do it's thing.

  • Best setting for export to web

I want to upload videos to the web.  Some will be to youtube and I assume that the export to youtube format is best for that.  But Youtube degrades the image resolution a lot.  Is there a way to minimize that?
Also, if I upload to my own site what would the best settings be assuming I shot the video in the highest resolution setting?
    Thanks

The YouTube presets built into Premiere Pro CS5 were designed with YouTube and do not require any transcoding once they've been uploaded to YouTube.  Most video that you send up there gets transcoded by them into their file format.  This usually results in pixelated output that is what you're trying to avoid...
Other than that, try to stick to H.264 for encoding whenever possible and higher bit rate.  Knowing how your video is going to be presented is really the key.
    Basic things to consider are:
    Total available bandwidth
    frame size
    frame rate
amount of motion/action in the scene or video
In the end, I will say that creating good output is still more art than science as there are a lot of variables.  Do some research  on the subject and I know that it will result in better video for you.
    Hope this helps,
    Dennis

  • Best Setting for Export

I am trying to figure out what setting I should use to export a movie using Export to Quicktime Movie. I want the best resolution for display on any type of TV. Most of the footage is 16x9 / 480P. What will give me the maximum quality? Thanks for the help!

You cannot add quality using an export or conversion.
    Export QT/Current Settings/Self Contained/Audio and Video/No recompression.

  • Exporting FCP HDV Sequence To MPG-1

    (Re-Posted From FCP Forum)
I need to compress a 60 minute 16:9 video for the web.
It's HDV, in an HDV timeline, in FCP5.
I'm using a 2 minute test clip while I try to figure it out.
I've tried using Quicktime Conversion (since I'm a little bit familiar with it) and it doesn't offer MPG-1. I see MPG-4 and MPG IMX, etc.
I've also tried the MPG-1 setting in Compressor but it dims out the frame size options in the geometry pane. So the resulting MPG's are the wrong aspect ratio.
I have a workflow on the PC that I used prior to HDV by exporting AVI from Premiere into TMPGEnc Plus for MPG compression. So I decided to try and get an AVI to use with that. I used the Quicktime conversion to AVI and my two minute clip ended up at 16GB. Something's not quite right with that.
SO... hopefully somebody knows the magic word to make compressor let me change the frame size of my MPG (don't know why it wouldn't let me). OR... someone knows how to make Quicktime let me make an MPG1.
    Thanks in advance...

    Compressor will only output MPEG-1 at 320 x 240 or 352 x 240. Thus, you can't output HD resolution using Compressor's or QuickTime's MPEG-1 codec.
If you really need to do HD resolution with MPEG-1 on the Macintosh then you should check out Digigami's MegaPEG product.
    http://www.digigami.com/megapeg/
Also, the ten to twenty-five dollar MPEG2 Works product(s) supports custom MPEG-1 sizes, but I don't know if they will support something as large as HD.

  • Best setting for export to revver/youtube/vimeo

    Hey,
I've been trying all different settings and i still haven't been able to find the combination that makes for good quality video on sites such as revver/youtube/vimeo. I've tried all types of tutes online but none seem to work for me. I know theres a youtube setting but most people seem to say this is exports too small a size.
    Any suggestions? Thanks

I'm not familiar with revver. YouTube is not up to the quality of Vimeo. I suggest exporting for Vimeo, using the suggested settings on the Vimeo site. Use that same file for uploading to YouTube/revver.
To give you an example of the quality you can achieve on Vimeo, here is a clip I posted. The source material was 4:3 DV in a 16:9 SD project, encoded to 1280x720 (Vimeo HD) WMV with 2-pass unconstrained VBR with target bitrate at 5500 Mbps and audio at 128 Kbps.

Even on YouTube it looks decent.

  • Can Print to Video HDV sequence

Hello, I am trying to export an HDV sequence to a miniDV tape for broadcast. I am using a Sony GV-HD700 tape deck. I am using Print to Video and it just wont work. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I am having this same problem, and need help urgently. Does anyone know how to resolve this? I can control the deck through FCP and the FireWire cable, and can even initiate automatic recording from FCP, but once it starts playing the content the deck freezes and does not actually record anything.

  • Print to video / HDV sequence

I am about to export a hdv sequence to my z1.
I have to make a master tape for broadcasting.
I normally export my commercial hdv work to mpeg2 and make a dvd....
To make a master tape for tv broadcast I need to make a dv camtape.
How do I create a dv cam master with the right 16;9 aspect ratio and the leat quality loss?
I understood that I can not use edit to tape. So print to video is my only option....
I thought of first rendering the hdv sequence to an appropriate format.
Which format should I choose. Is pro res an option?
    Any expert out there.
    Advice hightly appreciated.
    thnx
    xx
    Jane

I think what you should do is put the HDV sequence in a DV sequence, then after rendering just lay it out to tape. You could also send it to compressor for the tranfer, but don't think there's much difference if any, in quality. It should end up letterboxed.

  • Best quality for export?

What settings for best quality when exporting an HDV video to disk?
Using QT w/H264 but the quality is not acceptable. Can I tweak the settings?
FWIW, I get better quality using Sony Click to Disc at its default settings. Just trying to match that at this point.
    Thanks.

Which "disc" are you exporting to? Hard drive, CDR, DVD-R, etc. And is the point to get as file a file size as possible or are you just trying to archive video but don't care about file size?
And to answer your question, yes you can tweak output settings for H264. When you go to Share -> "Export using QT..." on the export pull down you pick MPEG-4 then directly to the right is a button for "Options". Pick that. Also in there is a button for "Video Options" to refine it even further.
