Best Video/audio format to upload to YouTube

Please recommend best Video/audio format to upload to YouTube, for a) upload speed, b) picture and sound quality.

Emailing video can be a real drama.
You can easily convert YouTube video if you have the free software MPEG Streamclip: http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
Download version 1.9.3b4 and install in your applications.
Open then File > Open URL and copy/paste the YT clip address.
Then File > Export to QuickTime and select Apple Intermediate Codec for the compression.
The converted file will import into iMovie.

  • What's the best video/audio format for PPCS4?

Question looks like a simple and stupid one, but I've noticed many differences using various kind of file extensions.
For example when you have to put an effect.
Mercalli is very performing if the effect is applied to an .avi file instead of a native .mpeg file taken from my Sony HDR-SR videocam.
    So the question is:
If I have to change the video file format, what is the best one (or one of the best) I can use?
Avi, we know, is an uncompressed (and eavy) one, but, if you have 700/800 file to edit, maybe PP could go slowly. Am I wrong?
Of course I have tried using the same video strip differently converted.
    Wait helps.
    Many thanks,
    Ciao

    Re-thanks Harm,
I know about .ac3 audio problems, I've posted a discussion time ago concerning this trouble.
But now I'm mainly looking for a video format.
    Example:
clips in native video compression are 'round 25Mb each
converted in .avi file can reach 630 Mb
Honestly I'll fill my entire pc with a format like this.
What I'm asking is a suggested kind of file that can easily work with PP and if you know a sw that do it.
I have Tmpge but I do not know  how to set it for the best results (unless I just set AVI output with the problem mentioned above).
I've read on the forum that DV AVI could be a good chance but which good sw can give me this files?
    Ciao

  • What is THE best video file format to import into Premiere Pro CS6?

What is THE best video file format to import into Premiere Pro CS6? I am tired of the guess work of "this might work if you do this." Just tell me which is, flat out, the easiest for Premiere to read?? I generally animate in Adobe Flash, and some times with a Live camera. Premiere seems to pick and choose which video file it wants. I import from the File drop down box in the upper left hand corner, then move the video file to timeline. Under the "scrubber" there is a thin red, (or when rendered) a green line. The videos I put in the timeline show a thin yellow line which means Premiere is confused. So, in basic terms, which video format is MOST commonly accepted with the least amount of trouble/hassle?

Premiere has a function now where you can import a clip and drag onto a timeline and it will prompt you with a message about changing the timeline settings to match your clip, (or if there is no timeline it will automatically create one that matches your clip.) This is in CC of course so you might consider upgrading. They have fixed a lot of compatibility issues from CS6 to now. If you don't want to get all of CC for 60/month then you can at least shell out 20/month on premiere. It's worth it. They've made it where you don't have to worry about 99% of all video formats. They just work.

  • Best video file format to email for use in imovie09

Does anyone know which video file format is best to send by email so as to be able to then use the file in imovie09. For a business project, I have to request short videos to be emailed to me from a variety of individuals, and then I will put them together as an imovie project. Should Youtube be avoided as a source ? Thanks.

  • Video quality downgrade after uploading to Youtube

Hey everyone, I've just started making movies and been playing around with video options for a few days and gotten past a few major milestones, however I just want to see how I can increase the video quality as the exported file doesn't look nearly as good once it's uploaded to youtube.
Quick notes about how I do it atm: First, I use FRAPS to capture video with Adobe Premiere 4.0 exporting my files as full 1900x1200 @ 29.97 FPS using the Windows Media Video 9 codec.
    Encoding process: Two
    Bitrate mode: Variable Unconstrained
    Pixel Aspect ratio: Square
    Decoder Complexity: Auto
    Keyframe Interval [seconds]: 5
    Average Bitrate[kbps]: 10,000
Exported video looks fine, however when I upload to youtube the quality really downgrades...viewable and correct resolution but still crummy for such a great looking vid. Hoping someone can help me out here! Thanks in advance.
    Source video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avzzkywqRcE

First, I would do a Search on this forum for "FRAPS." There are several articles with comments on the best workflow and also settings for Import and for Export.
Next, YouTube is trobulesome. First, they re-encode everything and their specs seem to change weekly. It's tough to find out what they want on any given day. I'd go to their site and get the very latest instructions and attempt to duplicate those perfectly, knowing that they might be different tomorrow.
Good luck with this one, and good luck with the FRAPS footage.

  • I'm new to FCPX and Compressor 4.  My HD video looks terrible when uploaded to YouTube and are no longer 720 or 1080p HD.  Are there codes or a secret handshake to have my HD video remain HD on youtube.  All help appreciated.

I have been editing in FCP X 10.0.6 and have had success with that on my Mac Book Pro Retina.  But when I go to compress the 1 minute video detined for YouTube inputing that I wish for it to remain in HD (720 and or 1080p) via Compressor 4, the video compresses and I upload it to youtube via their uploader and when the video is played back it looks aweful.  Needless to say it is no longer HD and very blurry.  Is there any help you can give me with step by step codes to follow to ensure my 1 minute video is viewable in HD? I sure would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Thanks a million Russ for you time and input.  I have recompressed my project several times and that aspect has worked a charm.  But I seem to come unstuck when I upload my compressed video to youtube only.  All the presets seem fine and I have done it using either ProRes or Youtube/Vimeo HD options.  I have just left them on my desktop and uploaded to youtube via their uploader from there after sucessfully compressing them with Compressor 4.  Yet, there seems to be no improvement in the picture quality.  Mind you the sound is fine.  I will get busy with some screenshots if you still think they would be handy.  Many thanks again for your consideration. I really had hoped it was as simple as a secret handshake too. Darn. LOL  -RR

  • RTMP video/audio format

    Hi,
I'm trying to make a software which sends video and audio data to a flash media server by using RTMP protocol.
Currently, my program can communicate with a flash media server correctly.
RTMP specifications does not describe about the raw data in video/audio messages, so I muxed raw H.264 and AAC data into video/audio messages and sent to the server.
The server seems to accept them, but a video player cannot playback the stream sending from the server.  The player just says "Loading..."
For a test purpose, I sniffed the network packets between Wirecast and the flash media server and ripped off only video and audio data.  Then, I muxed those data into video/audio message and sent to the flash media server.  In this case, the video player connected to the server can playback the stream correctly.
I checked the stream sent from Wirecast, the stream seems not to be H.264 raw data because those data are not started from 0x17 instead of H.264 start code.
With those situation, I am wondering what kind of container format I should use for H.264/AAC data to the flash media server.
    Does anyone have idea?

Hi NpComplete, Thank you for your answer.
Hmm, No. I muxed raw H.264/AAC stream into rtmp video/audio messages and divided into rtmp chunks, then send to the server.
The problem is that the stream in rtmp video/audio messages is NOT usual raw H.264/AAC data.
It seems to be muxed data for FLV video/audio which is described in FLV specs.  And, the rtmp specs does not mention about it at all.
    flv specs: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flv/
    rtmp specs: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/rtmp/
I am still reverse-engineering the Wirecast stream to find out what kind of muxing format it is.  Because it is seemingly FLV video/audio muxed data, but also it seems to be little bit different from them.
Also, thank you for telling about FMS/rtmp sdk, but I didn't notice that before implementing rtmp protocol into my program.
And, I already implemented rtmp protocol into my program correctly, so the problem is only data which are inside rtmp video/audio message.
Even so, just in case, I'll contact to adobe to get the SDK. =)
Do you know about the muxing format inside rtmp video/audio message for H.264/AAC?
    Thanks,

  • Rotating videos in Quicktime Prop & uploading to youtube

I recorded a video on my digital camera, and rotated it from horizontal to vertical with Quicktime Pro. However, on uploading it to youtube the video has rotated back to its original state, which means you have to tilt your head to watch it. Is there a way of preventing this from happening?

Open the file as is in MPEG Streamclip.
Export to a non lossy QT format like Animation. (File export to Quicktime, select animation as the codec)
    Open that in QTPro.
Rotate and save in a reasonable format, H264 with a bitrate of 1400 will do a good job.
You cannot export MPEG 1 or 2 at all from QT and not lose the audio so you will have to convert to QT with Streamclip to get a workable QT file that you can edit in QTPro.
Since it will be gigantic you need to compress it so it can be submitted, if they handle H264 then use that, if not use MPEG-4 and a 2500 kbps bitrate.
Note MPEG-1 looks pretty lousy most of the time, and a lot of Youtube clips look pretty awful too in Flash due to low bit rates originally and upscaling bigger than 320X240 (MPEG-1 standard) so this should look no worse.
I don't rotate clips as a rule, but when it is open in Streamclip have a gander at the options and see if you can rotate and save in MPEG-4 and all in one step. I know you can crop the size, so rotation, maybe too.

  • What are Best Video Settings format to be used in Encore?

    Hey,
So I have been raking my brain an issue or two I have with Encore.  I am Exporting video files to be used in Encore CS5 and am coming up with mixed results.  I created a 30 sec video and exported it as an .avi, .mov, .m2p all with mixed results.  Once I render a DVD from Encore the Avi is the best results with crisper quality but I loose some quality and all the colors are muted but the blacks are fine.  The M2P is blocky and jump on the footage and the MOV file is close to the M2p file output. I am using footage that is SD 29.97 4:3 format and the settings are correct when I export it.  Also the Menu when it is finished and on a DVD is muted in color as well in comparison to the one I created and imported from Photoshop.  Is there something I am missing that allows the quality to be its best on the menu screen in Encore?  I am transcoding the settings out in Encore as Mpeg2-DVD and I am setting the rest to match my assets that I am importing.  Please any help on these issues would be apprieciated.
    Sincerely,
    Confused

    > created a 30 sec video
How?  Capture/transfer from camcorder... web download... animation... the dreaded fraps?  What CODEC is your source?
When I used to use NTSC DV AVI type 2 with 48khz as captured (digitized) via Pinnacle Dv500 from a Sony analog 8mm camcorder, the same specification AVI I output after editing in CS3 to give to Encore for authoring looked exactly like the source
Now I have a Canon Vixia HFS100 so copy AVCHD "MTS" files from SD memory to hard drive for editing in CS5, I simply use a DV NTSC Widescreen output setting to create AVI... and the DVD I create with Encore also looks very close to the original

  • Best video asset format?

Help! I'm working out of FCP, original footage in 24pA, Sequences in ProRes 422 with Markers. When I export two Sequences as self-contained QT files and then import them into DVD Studio Pro, one of my videos looks like 4:3 (squeezed) and another looks like 16:9, but stretched horizontally too much. One comes in with the Chapter Markers and one doesn't. What's going on? And, if I start over, what's the best Sequence format and Export format out of fcp such that 24pA footage will arrive in good shape, with markers?
    Thanks!

Not sure if this wold help, but I usually export the sequence from FC to compressor first, and make the mpeg files in compressor, then pull those assets into DVD Studio Pro.

  • Best Video Archive Format?

This is my first post ever - I am using a MBPr 10.8.2.
I am in the process of copying all our VHS, 8mmHS, and miniDV tapes to DVD using a VHS/DVD recorder that also allows you to hook up the cameras and record to the DVD.
After I do that, I copy the files (VIDEO_TS) to my computer and an EHD.  I have Steamclip and understand that I drag the VIDEO_TS folder to Steamclip.
That is where I have questions - What settings do I choose to get the best quality and long term access to that conversion?  These are precious (irreplaceable) videos of my wedding, my children as babies/children and footage of family members that are either now gone or won't be with us much longer.  I want to do everything I can to keep this footage safe, hight quality and accessable for many years.
    What format meets those qualifications?
    Thanks a bunch,
    Julie

I have no experience with the iGrabber so I can't comment one way or the other. The Amazon comments might be useful.
The EyeTV Hybrid is the one I have used.
Here is a link. http://www.elgato.com/elgato/na/mainmenu/products/EyeTV-Hybrid-10/product1.en.ht ml
It is a little more expensive because it allows your Mac to receive TV signals through a rabbit ears antenna as well. I think EyeTV makes a version without the TV capability just for video capture, but I have not had any personal experience with it.
Here is the video capture product.
    http://www.elgato.com/elgato/na/mainmenu/products/Video-Capture/product1.en.html
Here is a sample of the quality I am getting through the EyeTV Hybrid.

  • Recorded a Playbook video and want to upload to Youtube

Not having any luck. Is the Playbook video file type not compatible? Suggestions on path forward would be appreciated.

Upload speeds from your ISP might be a big factor. 720p video is huge. If you I stall AIR browser from Apple World you can check the size. If your upload speed is low you might need to downcovert it. You can use MS MovieMaker on Windows and I Am sure Apple has probably a free app as well go downcovert it to 480 to make the files smaller.

  • BEST GNU audio format ?

I am looking to convert my entire .mp3 collection
over to something more GNU friendly, any suggestions?

jfca283 wrote:i heard mpc is the best lossy format

    both are free
Flac is kind of the golden middle road of lossless formats, it's not really spectacular in any way but it compresses quite well and fast. Also it's supported by everything.
MPC is good. It has quite low hardware support though. I would prefer using Nero AAC or AoTuV OGG instead.

  • Why does my video get blurry when uploaded to youtube?

I shot my video on a 5d m2, Processed it in premeir Pro cs6 and exported full res and encoded for you tube. It is tack sharp on my computer quick time player etc, but when loaded into youtube looks like a cell phone video.  Please help!  Thanks to all for your help.

Try exporting using the H.264 preset for YouTube at the dimensions of your video. It sounds like you may have done that but you were not specific.
Also, verify that you are looking at the HD version of the video when you use the YouTube player. All this assumes that you waited long enough for YouTube to process the HD version. It first encodes a SD version, then it encodes the HD version.
