Bet you haven't seen this problem before....

...finally getting around to installing Leopard. Actually pre-bought it before it was released.
Spent yesterday backing up my current OS onto an external hard drive (bootable) and it took awhile but finally finished and tested the back-up. SUCCESS!!!
OK.....ready to install Leopard. Turned off all running apps, inserted the Leopard install DVD, it comes onto the desktop, double click the install icon and then clicked restart.
Computer restarts and what do I get?

*Déjà vu*.....and again, the process and again.....*déjà vu*
Has anyone ever gotten a dud install disk???

I suspect this may be the cause of your problem: the Leopard install DVD must contain a version of OS X capable of booting the target Mac, & the "first edition" disks that were released prior to the release of a few of the newer Macs won't do that because they lack certain hardware drivers those Macs require. IIRC, Leopard's original, slightly delayed release date was early in October of 2007. Your profile indicates you have a 20" 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac, possibly the iMac (Mid 2007) model which was released slightly before that (sometime in August).
Theoretically, that means the DVD was released after your Mac & this should not be an issue, but because of the delayed release of Leopard & the close proximity of the release date of this iMac, it is possible your DVD does not support it. If so, you will need to contact Apple about replacing your retail Leopard disk with the current one, or at least a newer version than the first one released. (I believe that was P/N MB021Z/A, containing OS version 10.5. Any disk containing 10.5.1 or later should work for your iMac.)

I've never seen this problem before!

When I start my half-life/counter-strike application, i hear the music and sound-effects of the opening, but there is nothing at all displayed on the screen. This happened right after I switched my monitor to a flatscreen. I'm not sure if the resolution/refresh is incorrect so it can't display or what, but i need help. Reinstalling did nothing. To clarify, I reinstalled directX, the video drivers, and the game. I have this problem with definitely one other game and maybe others (Axis and Allies doesnt work in the same way haha). A flatscreen or an LCD? It's amazing how many folks get those confused.
If it's an LCD, make sure the Hertz setting in the game (if it has one) does not exceed the Hertz limit of the monitor. I had this happen at work one time when I had my monitor switched out for an LCD. The game we played at lunch was set to 800x600 mode with a Hertz rate that exceeded the max for the LCD. It had the same effect you are describing - went blank every time but I could hear the start up music playing.

Most email I send using warpdriveonline is received with the body blank. Haven't seen this problem in I.E. Not sure if it is the browser.

I am using webmail from USA Cable, which uses warpdriveonline. They are still researching my problem but think it might be browser related. Most but not all email I send is received with the body blank. It is also blank in my sent mail.

If it talks about your password it is probably a scam.
Take a look in your purchase history and see if there has really been a purchase.

Simply feedback from the mic of the camera to the speakers of the iPhone. Nothing to worry about.

I keep typing this question but no one can answer it. I own a MXL-USB condenser mic. I plug it in thn select it as my device in audio prefrences under the core audio tab. As soon as I apply the changes I lose a all audio in logic only. I can still record fne, but if I want to hear what I just recorded I have to change it to built-in- input to get the audio.
Someone said something about an aggregated midi thinger majiger, but in the midi prefrences it says nothing about input or output selection.
I think the problem is that in logic when you choose a device, it uses that devise as your input and output. If thats the case, I am still screwed cuz I don't know how to fix that.
My mic also doesn't require software, you just plug it in.

you have to open Audio Midi Setup, choose from menu Aggregate music device (or something similar..)
Then create an audio device adding BUILT IN Sound Card with your Mic.
Save
Then in Logic Audio Hardware setup select THAT device you created just before.
Finally choose your input output from logic mixer in order to rec from your mic and to hear from your built in sound card

Hi all
For some reason, every time I update my templates, it breaks
all the javascript on the child pages. I have to go in to each
child page individually and re-do the javascript again and then it
works fine. It's all different types - SwapImage,
OpenBrowserWindows, etc. Kind of ruins the ease of a template -
anyone ever see this before? I don't know a whole lot about JS, so
I can't tell what is breaking in the updates. Just thought I'd
throw it out here and see if anyone else had a similar problem.

Just create a new page (or use the existing photo page) on your external site and use html to add an iframe sized to the page and link it to the mobilme gallery page. Works for me just fine when showing my gallery from a yahoo site.

Anyone seen this problem before????

A friend of mine has a Powerbook G4 with the following problem. When you boot the computer, after the initial chime, all you get is the spinning gear and the Apple logo. When I tried forcing the computer to boot from the Leopard Install disk, I get as far as the Select Language window but the cursor remains a spinning ball and I can't select anything to move to the next window where I planned to use the Disk Utility to see if I can trouble shoot the problem. I tried to do a Safe Boot by holding down the Shift Key when booting but all I get, even after several minutes, is the spinning gear.... anybody have any suggestions??? Thanks for any help you can provide.

The first thing to check is that your friend is using a retail install Leopard disk. The gray disk from an Intel Mac won't work at all.
This disk must look like this:

You Ain't Seen This One Before

Apple just replaced my 40gig iPod (for the 4th or 5th time, I lost count). Each time they send me a new iPod I just do a software Restore and then Update with the music in iTunes. Not this time. Every 10 or 20 songs it stops Updating and there's an error message with my name in it: "Attempting to copy to the disk 'Jeff Linder' failed. An unknown error occurred (-69)." Anybody know what this is about? Thanks, Jeff

This is a cautionary tale. Wherever you keep your music files, on whatever drive you use, be it your computer's internal hard drive or an external drive, BACK IT UP. If you have an iPod you often have between 5 and 60gigs of music, video, pictures, books, Podcasts, etc. stored. That's a ton of stuff you accumulate during the life of your iPod or the life of more than one iPod. If the drive dies (and, believe me, drives, like everything else, die) all of that stored information you have worked long and hard to acquire will be gone. Gone. Gone. Mine is. It will take me a very long time to build my files again and they will never be quite what I have collected and bought. So, BACK IT UP, BACK IT UP, BACK IT UP. Thanks for your response. -Jeff

Unsync issues during ingest (anyone seen this problem before ?)

Sometimes I can get sync issues when ingesting straight to my raid. Randomly I will get qtmovies where the picture freezes, but the sound continues, so I have to redigitize the material. It looks a bit like this very short example

I don't see anything special in my systemlogs (xsan), and everything else works ok with my raid. This error is happening on any of our 12 clients..
Any suggestions ? (My raid settings are all correct)

You may want to explain a bit further on your environment:
Assuming you are using xsan (since you mentioned xsan software but this is Xserve RAID forum):
- check event logs on Xserve RAID to see if there are any errors events. Any bad disks. any degraded disks, rebuild going on.
- do you have dedicated meta data controllers.
- do you have metadata stored within their own LUN.
- do you have metadata stored managed by their own controller and not shared with data LUN.
(ok sounds a bit hardware intensive)
- were u doing play back while doing in gest from any of the workstations.
- Were you using DNS for your name services, both forward and reverse records exists.
Use xsan tuner (available on support website) to test your xsan performance.

Firefox 4 Beta crashes everytime I open it. Then I'm forced to close the program and it won't let me restart it since it says it's already running. Which isn't true. I'm done trying it. Do you guys know about this problem?

Everytime I start Firefox 4 beta it crashes. I usually can visit one site on the web (doesn't matter what site) and then it locks up. The only thing that works on the browser then is the close button. After clicking the close button I'll try to restart the browser and I'll get an error message saying it can't open Firefox because it's already open. Which is a bunch of BS. The only I can get Firefox started again is to restart my computer. This is so frustrating that I've given up trying. Hopefully you guys know about this bug and can do something about it. I wasn't trying to post a question here I just wanted to make sure you guys heard about this problem.

Make sure all of the videos used in the project that is having that problem are from the same event. If they are from multiple events, move them all into one event.

We are fellow users here on these forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple.
If your account is disabled (I assume that it what you mean by 'my itunes purchases are disabled') then you might be able to re-enable it via this page : http://appleid.apple.com, then 'reset your password'
If you aren't receiving the email to your rescue email account then you can contact iTunes Support / Apple in your country via this page and see if they can enable it : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
You might then need to log out of your account on your phone by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then log back in so as to 'refresh' the account on it.
Not sure what you mean by 'they also spelled my name wrong' - where are you seeing it ? Your name should be appearing how you entered it.

Dave, same problem here. And I did go in as admin to Administrative Tools, Services, Apple Mobile Devices and tried restarting the service. It seems there is a bug with the newest update, period. All of the normal "easy" steps don't work. Before I remove all of Apple's programs, including Bonjour....I'm running a full system scan.
But the answer will be to remove all of the Apple stuff, then reboot, then use whatever utility you have to remove all temp files...then go download and install it again. This has worked for several people (I read the thread before posting). Win 7 64bit. It just seems that Apple did not thoroughly test this new version. Period.
If Apple reads this...I have many computers...and whenever Apple wants to update something...it just about stops everything else that is going on. Total memory hog, even with 16G RAM and dual quad core processors. It has to learn to play nice with others.
After the scan and I'm sure an hour or two of work...I'll re-post.
Of course if you do image back-ups, as I do, you can simply restore your drive to its previous state and run the previous version of iTunes, declining the update, until Apple gets it right. Depending on the size of your drive, this could take hours. It is a matter of choice, of course.
