BEx Analyzer for connection issue

Hi Everyone,
I received the following message while using RRMX transaction from SAP BI 7 system and unable to connect BI and BEx Analyzer.  However, I am able to connect to BW system from BEx Analyzer when manually enter user id and password after this error.  There is no issues in Dev, QA and has this issue in Preproduction system.
Verified with my colleague who have same SAP GUI 7.2, MS Excel 2003 versions and my colleague is able to conenct to BEx Analyzer successfully.  Please advise.

  • Webi Vs Bex Analyzer for the same query

    Hi Experts ,
    I face an issue in Webi Vs Bex Analyzer for the same query :
    Output of Bex query:
    Transport System     Location ID     Quantity
    PIPEC1-Z4          LOCCP1-Z4     1,000.000 BBL
                              LOCCP2-Z4     400 TO
                              LOCGAL-Z4     *
                              LOCRAS-Z4     200 TO
                              Result     *
    Here as the Unit of measure is different, the RESULT displays a *
    Only in cases where the unit of measure is the same, the result
    is displayed correctly.
    However in webi, the sum function blindly adds up without any possibility
    to check whether the uom is the same.
    How can I check to add only when the units are the same ?
    Regards, Jerin.

    Hi Jerin,
    Each Key Figure used in a BW query can have up to three different sets of information:
    Numeric value of the Key Figure corresponding to the Key Figure without the unit.
    Unit or Currency information, A Dimension object with character format that contains the unit or currency. For example, 'USD', 'u20AC', 'km'
    Formatted value, representing the user-specific formatting. A Dimension object with character format that contains the Key Figure and the unit (formatted value) based on user preferences configured on the SAP server. For example, '200 USD', '345 u20AC', '25 km'
    Each Key Figure is represented with a Measure object in a Class u201CKey Figures.u201D In the case where the Key Figure is configured in BW with a unit, an additional Dimension object will be added representing the unit information. The u201CFormattedu201D value represents the numeric value Formatted as a string value, following the user-specific formatting settings.
    Or if doesn't appear the Unit, for some CKF or RKF it happens, you can add to your BEx query and then to the universe the unit or currency and create a separate dimension with that information.
    I hope this help you.
    Best regards,
      Fede

  • Bex Analyzer not connecting

    Hi
    I'm working on a new implementation. The Bex query designer, WAD and report designer all give me the log on box when trying to connect.
    But the Bex Analyzer does not come up with this options. It just shows the normal Excel screen and when I click on the offnen (open) icon, nothing happens. My security setting in Excel is low.
    Do youhave any idea?

    Strange, it won't let me access the note now on the market place either. I did however save the note at the time we needed it so i'm certain it's the right number. Basically the note only points you to download a windows patch which fixed the issue for us;

    Symptom
    You start the BEx Analyzer after you have implemented the BI tools.
    When you start the BEX Analyzer, the system displays the Analyzer toolbar, but it does not execute the functions when you choose the pushbuttons.

  • BEx Analyzer for Power Users

    Hi
    My Power users have been given access to design their queries in Bex Designer and publish via the web.
    For no reason, they don't have access to run their queries via Bex Analyzer. I am trying to push for them to have access to Bex Analyzer but I need some concrete reasons for them to be able to have this. I have always been a fan of being able to develop in BEx and immediately view in BEx
    Can anyone think of advantages or reasons why the Power Users should view in Bex Analyzer?

    The BEx Analyzer would give the users the power of BW and with it the power of XL. This could be a very good option when one is faced with a very rigid formatting requirement. One can use the BEx/workbook combination to design a formatted report which could otherwise have not been possible with the web. Of course some formatting features are as I understand are provided with the new report designer in NW04s, but XL could still be powerful for this.
    Some developments in BW could be avoided if we use XL like when you have to manipulate data from multiple areas and queries. For instance, you could have a sales query, a Finance query and even a purchasing query in a workbook and do some calculations with the data. If you were to do it in the QAD, you might have to have created a multicube with all the above and then write a query.
    In addition to that one can use the macro feature of xl and carry out further formatting/analysing/processing of the data
    Cheers

  • BEx Analyzer 7.0 Issues

    Hello everyone,
    We recently started using  BEx 7.0. I have 3 issues currently with BEx 7.0.
    1. When I run the query I keep getting a message that says "System is not set to changeable - objects are not changeable".
        RSA1> Transport connection>object changeability>XLWB - is already set to Everything changeable.
    2. When I make the changes to the workbook, I cannot do "Save workbook" because it is disabled. Only option availabe is "Save  workbook as".
        I have checked authorization profile and S_USR_AGR has All Activities.
    3. When I try to do use "Copy Sheet" function, the query short dumps with an error  "Exception condition "BAD_VALUE_COMBINATION" raised.
    Please note we are using Support Package 3 and Revision 1728 on Business Explorer Analyzer.
    Also, we have not had any issue with Saving workbook or inserting queries in the workbook in BEx 3.5
    Thanks in advance
    Lakshmi

    Hello Lakshmi,
    Thanks for your feedback,
    Error "BAD_VALUE_COMBINATION" should not be there with the latest front end patch. Can you please download the
    latest frontend patch from service market place. This will resolve your issue.
    Please let me know once this is not resolved the latest patch.
    regards,
    Arvind

  • Roles not displayed in BEx Analyzer for NW2004s

    We are evaluating a technical upgrade only from BW 3.5 to Netweaver2004s.  Under this plan, the 3.5 security will not be migrated to 7.0. We are using SAPGui Frontend 6.40 for BI. The existing BW 3.5 roles are not display in the Role Menu of SAP NetWeaver BEx.
    Any ideas on this?
    Isbell

    Got the following response from SAP and this resolved the issue
    please add the parameter
    DELETE_DOUBLE_TCODES with PATH = 'NO'
    into the table: ssm_cust (via tx: se16)
    The settings in SSM_CUST defines a compress mechanism for the user menu
    known as "Redundancy avoidance" and described in notes 357877 and 357693
    Redundancy avoidance deletes easy access menu entries for doubled
    transaction codes whenever SSM_CUST contains
    1. an entry CONDENSE_MENU with PATH = 'YES' and
    2. either an entry DELETE_DOUBLE_TCODE with PATH = 'YES' or no entry
    DELETE_DOUBLE_TCODES, at all.
    If you don't want doubled transaction codes to be deleted, then simply
    add an entry DELETE_DOUBLE_TCODES with PATH = 'NO' into table SSM_CUST.

  • How to set variable value in BEX analyzer for IP Layout

    Hi All,
       I have created a simple planning function to copy data from one account to another and I have used mandatory selection variable for Fiscal year /period. When I execute the planning function through Planning modeler I get the prompt for the variable and the planning functions execute without errors and return the values. But now when I design the Bex workbook using my Input ready query that have button to execute the planning function,I don't get the prompt for the mandatory selection variable. I need to set the variable vaule in design mode then the function return the values. Is there way to get the prompt for the variable when I choose to execute the planning function. Also is there a option in Web application designer too?
    Please let me know what I'm missing.
    Appreciate you help.
    regards,
    Balaji

    Hi,
    At the back of button specify the following parameter:-
    CMD    1        Execute_planning_function
    Planning_function_name  1   xyz
    Var_name     1    variable_name
    var_value      1    blank

  • RRI sending restrictions issue in BEx Analyzer - Known SP Issue?

    We have two queries linked through an RRI interface that is designed to "send" a restriction of one characteristic when the user right clicks on the cell containing the value they want to see in the second ("Goto") query and selects "Goto" and the second query's name. This interface works fine on my machine with both my ID and the test ID the users are using to test these reports. My machine is on SP8, Patch 1 Revision 1443. However, when the users execute the same query and try the RRI they see the second query with all of the values in that column, not just the one they "selected". They are on SP7, Patch 1 Revision 1352. Is this a known issue with this version of Analyzer? I have been searching around and can't find any documentation saying so, but something "official" from SAP that documents this would be perfect to recommend and upgrade to SP8 to fix this problem.
    Thanks!

    Hi Somenath,
    Are you sure that all the data in cube is affected? I mean also the data loaded in cube before GUI upgrade?
    I have a feeling that instead of GUI upgrade something happened to the background user that is extracting the data in source system. E.g. this user master data has changed - in decimal format.
    So check the user and check data loaded before/after change of GUI.

  • SAP BEX Analyzer Set values for variables

    Please help us out in sorting out this problem,
    We are automating BEx Analyzer for a Testing Project with Quick Test Professional (QTP) a functional automation tool uses VB script.
    Problem:
    There are 5 steps in automation
    Invoke BEx Application
    Log in to BEx server
    Run Query
    Set values for Variables for Query
    Display Report
    We are able to do 1,2,3 steps using BEx API functions and running BEx macros but we struck up with 4th step,
    1. Invoke BEx Application
    ‘Launch Excel
    Dim app
    Set app = createobject("Excel.Application")
    ‘Make it visible
    app.Visible = true
    ‘Attach add-in to Excel file
    app.Run ("'C:\Program Files\SAP\Business Explorer\BI\BExAnalyzer.xla'!SetStart")
    2. Log in to BEx server
    Login to Bex server
    Function logonToBW(app)
    Dim myConnection
    Dim logonToBW2
    On Error Resume Next
    logonToBW2 = True
    ' Create logon to system with following user and system details
    Set myConnection = app.Run ("'C:\Program Files\SAP\Business Explorer\BI\BExAnalyzer.xla'! SAPBEXgetConnection")
    With myConnection
    .client = "600"
    .User = "USERNAME"
    .Password = "Welcom123"
    .Language = "en"
    .systemnumber = "00"
    .System = "BWDCLNT600"
    .systemid = "BWD"
    .ApplicationServer = "156.158.7.161"
    .SAProuter = ""
    .Logon 0, true
         If .IsConnected = 0 Then
               .Logon 0, False
    If .IsConnected <> 1 Then
    MsgBox "Automatic logon failed. Please enter your username and password in the next screen ..."
    Exit Function
    End If
    End If
    End With
    ' Run connection query to see if connected
    app.Run ("'C:\Program Files\SAP\Business Explorer\BI\BExAnalyzer.xla'!SAPBEXinitConnection")
    logonToBW2 = True
    End Function
    3. Run a Query
    app.Run "'C:\Program Files\SAP\Business Explorer\BI\BExAnalyzer.xla'! runQuery", "ZZCCA3_M01_Q0003"
    Till here the script is running fine then the “Select values for Variables” window is displayed.
    This is where exactly we struck up; in this window we need to select values.
    Name of the Fields
         Field Name     Technical name of characteristic     Variable Name     Value
    1     Company Code                     0COMP_CODE     ZM_COMPCODE     1000
    2     Cost Center Hierarchy          0COSTCENTER     ZS_CCTRN     1000MDON
    3     Cost Center Node     0COSTCENTER     ZS_CCTRN     1000COP
    4     Cost Element          0COSTELEMENT     ZS_COELN     1000GDON_6999
    5     Fiscal Year     0FISCYEAR     0P_FYEAR     2007
    To select values for variables, we are trying below code but its giving an error,
    app.Run  "'C:\Program Files\SAP\Business Explorer\BI\BExAnalyzer.xla'!SAPBEXSetFilterValue", “1000”, "0COMP_CODE"
    app.Run  "'C:\Program Files\SAP\Business Explorer\BI\BExAnalyzer.xla'!SAPBEXSetFilterValue", “1000MDON”, " 0COSTCENTER "
    app.Run  "'C:\Program Files\SAP\Business Explorer\BI\BExAnalyzer.xla'!SAPBEXSetFilterValue", “1000COP”,  "0COSTCENTER"
    app.Run  "'C:\Program Files\SAP\Business Explorer\BI\BExAnalyzer.xla'!SAPBEXSetFilterValue", “1000GDON_6999”,  "0COSTELEMENT "
    app.Run  "'C:\Program Files\SAP\Business Explorer\BI\BExAnalyzer.xla'!SAPBEXSetFilterValue", “2007”,  " 0FISCYEAR"
    Any help highly appreciated, thanks in advance.

    Hi Reinhard,
    Pleas look at this:

  • Automated start of Excel BEx Analyzer via Web VBScript

    Hi all,
    at first... all the versions:
    SAPGUI 6.40 Patch Level 19, BW 3.5 Addon Patch 9, BI 7.0 with NetWeaver 2004s, Excel 2002 SP3.
    I got the following working code to start Excel out of our Intranet, start the BEx Analyzer and connect to our BW:
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>Excel Script</title>
    <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="VBScript">
    sub bwreport()
    Dim app
    Dim myConnection ' As Object
    Dim logonToBW2 ' As Boolean
    ' Launch Excel
    set app = createobject("Excel.Application")
    ' Make it visible
    app.Visible = true
    ' Open xla file
    app.Workbooks.Open("C:ProgrammeSAPFrontEndBWsapbex.xla")
    app.Run("SAPBEX.XLA!sapBEXinit")
    ' Logon to BW
    logonToBW2 = False
    Set myConnection = app.Run("SAPBEX.XLA!SAPBEXgetConnection")
    With myConnection
    .client = "001"
    .User = "myuser"
    .Password = "mypw"
    .Language = "de"
    .systemnumber = "00"
    .ApplicationServer = "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx"
    .UseSAPLogonIni = false
    .Logon 0, True
    If .IsConnected = 0 Then
    MsgBox "Verbunden"
    .Logon 0, False
    If .IsConnected <> 1 Then
    MsgBox "Fehler beim Verbinden"
    End If
    End If
    End With
    app.Run("SAPBEX.XLA!SAPBEXinitConnection")
    logonToBW2 = True
    ' Give the user control of Excel
    app.UserControl = true
    end sub
    </SCRIPT>
    <P> </P>
    </head>
    <body>
    <button onclick= "bwreport()">Alternative Excel</button>
    </body>
    </html>
    I'm still working on two issues here and hope you can help me:
    1.
    app.Workbooks.Open("C:\Programme\SAP\FrontEnd\BW\sapbex.xla")
    The Webscript will be used by many BW-Users so the full installation path is not the same for all users. Is there a way to start the Analyzer without the full path ?
    When I start Excel with "Excel.Application" via OLE out of my Script, then BEx is not automatically loaded, that's why I need the above line.
    But when I start Excel manually, it's loaded automatically. So there has to be some way Excel "knows" the location of an installed BEx Add-In. Maybe there is some addition to say Excel to start all it's usual Add-Ins, or to start in standard behaviour ?
    2.
    app.Run("SAPBEX.XLA!sapBEXinit")
    Before I added this line, I always got the BEx Analyzer title "xxxsapbexxxx" and was unable to use any macros or functionality of the BEx Analyzer.
    I found hints and code examples to use "RunAutoMacros" so sapbex.xla is fully initialized but wasn't able to make it work in my code.
    So I checked the macros of sapbex.xla and "sapBEXinit" seems to do the job although I'm not sure if this is a complete/clean initialization of the sapbex.
    Thx,
      Thomas

    Welcome to SDN.
    First of all thanks for sharing the script, good work.
    coming to your first question.
    you can get the path by reading the system registry
    its under <b>"SAP.BusinessExplorer.Analyzer\path"</b>
    if you analyze the FM "RSAH_LAUNCH_EXCEL" in BW system, you can get the logic for your script.

  • How to prevent a portal user from using the BEx Analyzer ?

    Hi,
    we have different type of users : most users may use the portal as well
    as the analyzer ;
    we have one special user with extended authorizations : this user
    should use the portal , where he has a limited set of queries to run
    with hardcoded filters ==> this user should not be able to use the
    analyzer however, since he then would be able to call all other queries
    by using the find function ;
    how can we make sure this user cannot use the analyzer , using SAP
    authorizations ?
    best regards,
    Erwin Van Giel.

    Hi,
    if I remove the complete S_RFC authorization for the user then the BEx Analyzer cannot connect anymore to the BW system, but neither can the user run reports from the portal : it needs the S_RFC with 'SYST'.
    If I only remove the RRMX from the S_TCODE and from the S_RFC, it does not prevent the user from starting the BEx Analyzer and connecting to the BW system. It only stops the user if he would start the RRMX transaction from within an SAPGUI session.
    Perhaps there should be a value in the S_RFC that allows connections from the portal but not from the BEx Analyzer .... ?
    so not solved yet ....
    best regards,
    Erwin.

  • Query executes in RSRT but not in BEx Analyzer

    Hi Everyone,
    I have a query for an infocube and ods object, in the bex analyzer for the infocube the query executes which has around 5000 records but for the ods object which has also 5000 records comes up with this error.

    when I execute the query in RSRT it comes up.
    After closing and re logging into bex analyzer executes the query for the first but for the second time again it throws up this error.
    What could be the problem? Can anyone please let me know. Its really really urgent.
    Thanks,
    Prashant.

    hi Prashant,
    try check in RSRT, after choose your query, click 'properties' and set cache mode to 'main memory cache without swapping'.
    also check oss note 656060-OLAP: Cache main memory displacement not functioning.
    hope this helps.
    Symptom
    Although one of the following two cache modes
    Main Memory Cache Without Swapping (mode 1)
    Main Memory Cache With Swapping (mode 2)
    is set for a query, long runtimes occur when you execute the query. The statistics (table RSDDSTAT) display the database times.
    If there is a heavy system load, the following message can also appear: RS_EXCEPTION000: No left space in shared memory.
    Other terms
    Cache, performance, displacement, shared buffer
    Reason and Prerequisites
    This problem occurs because the shared memory is insufficiently dimensioned.
    <b>Solution</b>
    Increase the amount of shared memory. The size of the shared memory should be at least 200 MB. You can refer to transaction RSRCACHE for the amount of memory reserved by the main memory cache (RSRCACHE -> Main Memory: Shared Memory/Buffer Reserved).
    The corresponding settings are (at least):
    rsdb/esm/buffersize_kb = 200000
    and, as a precaution, also
    rsdb/esm/max_objects = 10000.
    Alternatively, for queries with large resulting quantities, you can convert the Cache Mode in transaction RSRT1 to
    Cluster/Flat File Cache for Each Application Server (mode 3)
    Cluster/Flat File Cache Across Each Application Server (mode 4)

  • Variable screen not seen when running BEx Analyzer

    Hi Gurus,
    when i execute my query in BEx Analyzer for some reason i dont see my variable screen and it gives me a message saying variable values not entered. If i run the same report in RSRT i do get my variable screen. It was all find till yesterday and for some strange reason i dont get to see my variable screen.
    Can anyone help me
    Surya

    What version are you on?
    Did you try resetting personalized variables? You may have hit that by mistake, happens a lot here. Not sure that would be the case with no values entered however.

  • BEx Analyzer Not showing report result in canceling "Change variable Icon"

    Hi Experts,
    Do we have any settings in BEx Analyzer for retrive the Result set even after I click 'Change variable Icon' in Toolbar and cancel the variable pop-up window??
    Eg: My query Result is displayed in Analyzer selecting some vaues in Selection screen.And when I click the Change Variable Icon from 'Analyzer Toolbar' its showing me 'Select values for variable' window.If I select the cancel button in it, then Query result becom blank showing the message "There are variables; change variable values". Do Analyzer having an option or settings to keep the result even if i cancel the variable selection from "change variable icon".
    Thanx in advance..

    Sari-
    If SAP provides such a function, I have not found it. The way I understand it., the change variable value initiates the OLAP back end. This clears the Presentation Manager front end, and clears the 'results' that are displayed on your workbook. If you cancel the OLAP run, the front end clear still executes.
    HOWEVER... if you turn OFF Automatic Refresh before clicking on Change Variable Values and then clicking on Cancel, the presentation manager will not write any changes to your workbook. So that is your best solution.
