BEx query : results and exceptions
Hi people,
I'm using BI 7.
I've two questions.
In a first part i want to know if i can use an exception in order to color all the line (characteristics + key figures) ?
Because just the key figures are colored with many options I tried.
In a second part, in the same query, i'm using a hierarchy, some characteristics and a key figure.
I want to have a line of results for each hierarchy node (node at the top), and too a line of results for a following field.
Like the following example :
Hierarchy node level 1:A field1:2 field2:x k_fig:17
global result for field1----k_fig:17
Hierarchy node level 1:A field1:1 field2:y k_fig:12
Hierarchy node level 1:A field1:1 field2:x k_fig:3
global result for field1----k_fig:15
global result for hierarchy node level 1-----k_fig:32
Hierarchy node level 1:B field1:1 field2:z k_fig:4
global result for field1----k_fig:4
global result for hierarchy node level 1-----k_fig:4
I hope you could help me for the two problems.
Points will be assigned,
Cheers,
Vince

Nobody has a solution in order to highlight the whole row (characteristic and key figures) for a value of a key figure ?
With WAD or Query Designer, I'm trying to highlight a line with an exception on a key figure but it apparently colors only key figures.
For example i would have entire colored rows for negative key figure :
field1:a field2:x field3:e key_figure:1
field1:b field2:x field3:e key_figure:7
field1:b field2:y field3:e key_figure:-5
field1:d field2:z field3:j key_figure:1
I can use WAD or Query Designer but not Visual Composer or Report Designer...
Thanks for help.

BEx Query Designer and Exceptions
I have a simple enough task. I was tasked, with marking items on a query with an exception, however the value is not static. I have a column marked hours, and five columns for each day of the week. The current day with data should yield an exception if the current day has less hours the the calculated hours column. So my first approach was to create a formula where I evaluate both the hours calculated from the query and the current day. I called this field fday1. I created an exception stating that if fday1 = 1 then to mark the field Bad3. but I want the affected structure to be the Actual Day such my column days are: Day 1 (current date), Day 2 (current date + 1) etc... but when I visit the query (ie, adhoc query) only the formula field fday1 has the exception day triggered. In the exceptions list I define the keyfigure fDay1 (time of evaluation [before list calculation]) Under the display tab I have exception affects data cells for the following structure elements: Day 1 (current date).
like If I execute this query through the portal the exception shows up correctly on the proper field. if I execute the query through the adhoc (BEx Ad Hoc Analysis) view, then the wrong field has the exception.
any thoughts on a better way to approach this query?Nobody has a solution in order to highlight the whole row (characteristic and key figures) for a value of a key figure ?

Exporting BEx Query results to CSV or other files.
Hi All,
We have a report designed in WAD, which uses a BEx query to display department’s information. Because of amount of data in the results it crashes when u get all the Free Characters into ROWS(Error is : Result set too large(552244 cells); data retrieval restricted by configuration (maximum =500000 cells). It is a requirement from the user to have all the free characteristics in the rows( which I can understand is not the right way to go ahead). As it is crashing when you add last characteristic(WBS Purpose) into the rows, they aren’t able to export data into spread sheet from the results. (as there are no results)
Now my question is…..is there any way we can export the results from BEX query into any format for example text or csv? If yes, can we schedule that process? Please note that this characteristics are displayed as hierarchies.
Am new to SAP BW and its been only six months since I have been in this role. Any help would be much appreciated???
I looked online and some where in the forum it was mentioned of using program RSCRM_BAPI, but looks like it needs some sort of downloads from SAP.
Is there any other way to export the BEx query results?
Cheers
SandeepHello Sandeep,
You can use the Item "Context Menu" in your WAD and in the properties by default you can see the Options:
Export to Excel & Export to CSV will be there and also there are many options which you wanted to see.
It works for you!!!

Issues with Bex query structures and Crystal Reports/Webi
Hi experts,
I'm having an issue with Bex Query structures and nulls. I've built a Crystal Report against a Bex query that uses a Bex Query structure. The structure looks like the following
Budget $
Budget %
Actual $
Actual %
Budget YTD
etc
if I drag the structure into the Crystal Report detail section with a key figure it displays like this
Budget $ <null>
Budget % <null>
Actual $ 300
Actual % 85
Budget YTD 250
the null values are displayed (and this is what is required). However if I filter using a Record selection or group on a profit centre then the nulls along with the associated structure component are not displayed.
Actual $ 300
Actual % 85
Budget YTD 250
Webi is also behaving similarly. Can anyone explain why the above is happening and suggest a solution either on the Bex side of things or on the Crystal Reports side of things? I'm confused as to why nulls are displayed in the first example and not the second.
Business Objects Edge 3.1 SP2
SAP Int Kit SP2
OS: Linux
BW 701 Level 6
Crystal Reports 2008 V1
Thanks
KeithHi,
Crystal Reports and Web Intelligence will only show data which is in the cube. You could have an actual 0 or Null entry whithout grouping but by changing the selection / grouping in the report the data does not include such entry anymore.

BEx-Query results in error in SAPLRRI2 and KFB_FUELLEN_CONST
Hello,
I hope anyone has a solution for the following problem.
When applying the "Calculate with Attributes"-how-to, I got the following error message
in a BEx-Query. It is reproducable and only occurs if I have a formula A minus B
(key figure A alone and B alone work and A minus 123 also works; plus or multiply also do not work).
It occurs before the parameter call, although the parameter is only a global filter.
Unfortunaltely I had to translate the essential content of the error messages,
for I only have the German ones.
In the web I get (The proposal for characteristic ... does not fit to the filter.):
Es wurde eine Abbruchmeldung gesendet.
WARNING BRAIN (459): Die Vorschlagswerte für Merkmal ZMLST_USE stimmen mit dem Filter überein
MSGV1: ZMLST_USE
ABEND RSBOLAP (000): Programmfehler in Klasse SAPMSSY1 Methode : UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION
MSGV1: SAPMSSY1
MSGV3: UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION----
In the query designer I get (Systemerror in program SAPLRRI2 and form KFB_FUELLEN_CONST):
Abbruch: Systemfehler in Programm SAPLRRI2 und Form KFB_FUELLEN_CONST -01- (Langtext beachten)
Diagnose
Has anyone a clue? I use SAP BW 7.0 with a version from last summer.
Best regards
Thomas
P.S. I think the following old note "UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION and filter of items or input help" (SAP Note Number: 950992) does not apply.
P.P.S.
See also thread "Error while executing query on portal-SAPMSSY1 method : UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION"
Recommended help are:
- "rebuilding the query and adding 0FISCVAR last"
- "standard variable (filter on company code). I change it with another"
- "reducing the BW OLAP Cache from 5 GB to 1 GB" (we have only 200 MB)
- "Query Properties in the Variable Sequence Tab and remove any variable that is not being used"
- At least till Spring 2008 seemed to be a problem in the SAP software, may be still be a problem.
P.P.P.S.
Found a workaround to design my query. But I still wonder why this does not work.
Error message seems not appropriate for the problem, if any.
Edited by: Thomas Köpp on Mar 10, 2009 3:36 PMHi Thomas,
I am experiencing exactly the same issue and after debugging my report on RSRT TCODE I get exactly the same exception error message: "KFB_FUELLEN_CONST-01-" on Program: "SAPLRRI2".
Can you share please how you corrected the issue and/or what was the workarround you performed?

Retrieving BEx Query Results Area for use in Excel formulas
Hello,
I run BEx queries in workbooks and then use Excel formulas ( mostly VLOOKUP(LookupValue, ResultsArea, ColumnReturned,) ) to retrieve certain information from the query ResultsArea.
****Problem:
Depending on the query parameters, the query "Results Area" is larger or smaller.
****Non-optimal solution:
One way to define the ever changing Excel range occupied by the Results Area is to create an Excel name as:
QueryRange = OFFSET(QueryFirstCell,,,COUNTA(OFFSET(Sheet1!$A:$A,,COLUMN(QueryFirstCell)-1,,)),COUNTA(OFFSET(Sheet1!$1:$1,ROW(QueryFirstCell)-1,,,)))
Then, the only input required is the top-left cell of the Results Area, which stays the same (unless the query definition changes).
****Question
What is the best way to refer to an ever-changing query Results Area in an Excel formula?
Thank you!
LouisIt is actually much easier than that.
Use a VBA statement like the following:
Set RptRng = ActiveCell.CurrentRegion
This will retrieve the data in the Results Area, no matter what the size is.
Hope this helps...

BEx Query results not getting updated
Hi,
I am using a BEx Query based on a multiprovider which is fetching data from a multiple remote cubes and multiple regular cubes.
Now when data in the source system is getting changed the corresponding remote cubes are getting update but query result are not getting re-fresh for at least 2 hours.
We have already tried doing logging out and and logging into the bex system.
Is there some cache setting which is required?
Default cache mode in query is 'Main memory cache without swapping'.
Kindly advice.
Regards
VivekHi,
Just generate your query once with program RSR_GEN_DIRECT_ALL_QUERIES.
By selecting your multiprovider .

Output of BOBJ (Web Intelligence Reports) are twice BEx Query Result
Hi Experts,
Incase of first level of hierarchy, correct values (i.e same as BEx Query) are displayed in BOBJ reports . However on selecting two and more levels of Hierarchy, values, twice the corresponding BEx query values, are displayed in BOBJ reports .
For e.g.
For level one of hierarchy (one level of object from hierarchy ):
Actual Amount keyfigure value in BEx Query : 100
Actual Amount keyfigure Value in BOBJ Report : 100
For if we select two and more levels of Hierarchy, then we get following inconsistent values:
Actual Amount keyfigure value in BEx Query : 100
Actual Amount keyfigure Value in BOBJ Report : 200
We have implemented SP5 ,as suggested in SAP note 1373220 . However issue still persists...
Can you please suggest, how to resolve this issue?
Regards
MohitWe had the issue close to your issue. Basically, Webi does a Cartesian product of the characteristics value and duplicate the number of rows. But when we add the key figure in the report, it was showing the correct result.
Not sure, why the Key figures are also duplicating in your case. Please try adding removing characteristics and see if that resolves your issue.

Problem with Queries Structures in Bex Query Designer and Universe Designer
Hi everyone,
I have a problem when i try to do a Universe from a Bex Query Designer.
When I use a Characteristic Restrictions in a Structure, the universe only show me the structure without the objects inside it.
EJ:
1) Bex Query Designer
Colunms
(Structure) ZSRT_123
- (Characteristic Restrictions) Reg Guayana
> (InfoObject) 0Product = 'XXX'
> (InfoObject) 0Country = 'YYY'
- (Characteristic Restrictions) Reg Caracas
> (InfoObject) 0Product = 'AAA'
> (InfoObject) 0Country = 'BBB'
Rows
(Structure) ZSRT_456
(Key Figure) Net Sales
2) Universe designer
(Class) ZSRT_456
>(Measure) Net Sale
(Class) ZSRT_123
>(Dimension) ZSRT_123
The universe dont translate the two Characteristic Restrictions in the structure ZSRT_123.
Any information would be much appreciated. Thank you.Hi,
I assume that you are using BOE XI 3.1 SP2.
We have added an option in SP2 to generate or not the L00 level.
Unfortunately this option applies not only on characteristics but also on hierarchies, hierarchies variables and structures: that's the reason why you have no elements belonging to the structure generated.
I recommend to always generate L00 in order to have your structure generated correctly.
This issue will be fixed in SP3.

OLAP Universes - Based on BEx Query - Month and Previous Month Functions
Hi,
I created a Universe based on SAP BEx queries and I like to create a filter so that I use in Web Intelligence report to run for "Previous Month" data always. There are "Date" filelds in BEx Query(No Month info only date data). I have no knowledge of SAP BEx Queries and new to OLAP universes. Could you help.
How to create filter that show Previous Month.
Nanda Kishore
Edited by: Nanda Kishore B on Dec 26, 2010 6:15 AMThe easiest way (but NOT the most efficient one) is to create a local variable (Dimension) in your report with the following code:
=if (Month(CurrentDate())=1 AND Month([[MyDate]])=12 AND Year([[MyDate]])=(Year(CurrentDate())-1)) OR (Month(CurrentDate())>1 AND Month([[MyDate]])=(Month(CurrentDate())-1)) then 1 else 0
where MyDate is the field from your query containing the data information
Activate the report filter area in your report design panel by pressing the Report filter icon and drag and drop your variable there and apply it to the entire report. Filter value 1 and you will get the data for the previous month.
Keep in mind that this approach is not optimal especially if you do have many rows of data delivered to your WebI report because filtering takes place only AFTER the data is retrieved. The Best practice here is to work with BEx variables.
How many rows of data does your WebI report normally fetches?

I am on 2.1EA2 (JDK 1.6.0_16) and been playing with the new SQL Worksheet pin query results functionality. I have found that it is possible to run a query against one connection, pin the results and then change connection and run the same (or a different) query against another connection. I really like this, but found a few problems:
#1 There doesn't seem to be any way to tell which connection a query result tab was actually run against
#2 Even if all rows are fetched, if I then disconnect from the first connection it can get quite messy. Sometimes I get an empty connection dialog (I can't remember the exact title and it doesn't reproduce consistently) with only the close window X in the corner. Some times I get prompted to log in with a connection information dialog with no reference to the connection it is connecting to - cancelling only brings up the same dialog again until I successfully connect. Some times I get prompted to log in and while that is still on the screen, SQL Developer logs me back in to the connection (even though I don't save passwords) - I even get a new worksheet for the reconnected connection.
theFurryOneRaghu,
I am happy with both.
#1 - I would be happy if the connection name was at the start of the tool-tip style pop-up when hovering over Query Results tab and the Query Result SQL dialog that opens on the SQL button. -K-'s suggestion makes it immediately obvious for the currently selected Query Results tab, without having to move the mouse or click on something.
Ideally, I would like something similar for the other output tabs (ie Script Output), but they seem to show results for all connections that the worksheet has used, so the same concept may not work.
#2 - I am used to the grid being cleared when disconnecting from earlier versions - I assumed that this was a bug where SQLD was not checking the connection of the results, just the current connection of the worksheet.

Output mismatch between BEx query output and WebI Report output
Hi All,
I have a BEx query in which there are only characteristics placed in rows.
There are combinations of the values of the characteristics giving different records in the query output.
Date is one of the characterisctics in the query output.
There is an output mismatch between the query output and the WebI report output in the following case:
When there are 'Not Assigned' or '#' or blank values, there are additional entries(rows) in the WebI report, giving repeating or wrong entries in the Date field. This is incorrect data.
Is this because of the 'Not Assigned' or '#' or blank values of the Characteristics or is there any other reason?
How do I fix this?
Please helo me with this.
Thanks and Regards,
Srilakshmi BHi Rajesh,
I need to verify the WebI report output for records with # and 'Not assigned' values for the cHracteristics in the report.
So I cannot check the WebI report by hiding the # or Not assigned values.
The problem is that in the Query output the records are like these shown below:
Char1 CHar2 CHar3 Date field
A B C Date1
#(Not assgined) #(Not assgined) #(Not assgined) No value
Where as the WebI report output is as below:
Char1 CHar2 CHar3 Date field
A B C Date1
#(Not assgined) #(Not assgined) #(Not assgined) Date1
As shown here, there are wrong/repeating entries for the Date field in the WebI report output.
Please check this and let me know what could be the issue and how do I fix it.
Thanks and Regards,

Query Results and display behaviour
Hi all,
sorry for this strange thread name but i couldn't find a better name.
Problem: In my developed application you can search for user. When the page first loads after login you can still view the results of the last query and of the last session. It should be an empty table. Only if you navigate in the application without loggin out the result should be viewable again if you navigate back to the search page
Please excuse this brief explanation but i am in a rush right now.
Some advice?
Thanks in advance
MarkusHi Peter,
Thanks for your answer. Because I didn't had much time yesterday I didn't mentioned that I allready tried to clear the session state in a page process. I think the problem is not the session state but that the query is executed when the page is loading. I want to start the query only when a button is pressed or submitted via enter. The first time after login there should be no query result.
I hope it is a littlebit clearer now.
Regards
Markus
Edit:
One thing I forgot. I can't use condition with 'request = expression 1' (expression 1 = P_GO request) because the condition is allready in use for some other application needs.
