BI installation on HP UNIX.

Hi Experts,
We have to install BI (ABAP stack only) on HP UNIX HA cluster, Oracle database.
Kindly suggest how to plan for it and where do we find the relevant documentations.
Thanks and Regards,
Amit Jana.

The official installation documentation (http://service.sap.com/instguides) contains special sections for HA installations.
You have additionally the resources here on SDN: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/ha.

    Hi,
    I need to install oracle 9.2 on AIX server whose OS is version 5.2 and hardware is IBM P-Series P615 . Will there be any problem in doing this activity or successfully it can be installed ?

    Hi;
    Why oracle 9i? If possible use supported version like 11gR2. If you have to install oracle 9iR2, yes you can make installation on 5.1, 5.2, 5.3 (5L)(64bit only)

    NLS_LANG=AMERICA_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859-1 is not indentifierFirst - it was suggested you enter "WE8ISO88591", not "WE8ISO8859-1"
    Second - the suggestion was made assuming a shell such as Bash. You may be using ksh or other. Try doing this in several steps
    NLS_LANG=AMERICA_AMERICA.WE8ISO88591
    export NLS_LANG
    and perhaps try surrounding the literal with quotes
    NLS_LANG="AMERICA_AMERICA.WE8ISO88591"

  • OC4J and BC4J Runtime installation for Solaris (Unix)!

    We have successfully installed, configured and deployed JSP/BC4J apps using OC4J and BC4J on Windows NT/2000. However, our production environment is Solaris.
    We have installed OC4J on Solaris, with some difficulties. How/where is the installation process for the BC4J Runtime Installation? The download (bc4j-ojsp.zip) for this utility is Windows only.
    Is there a method or process to install BC4J Runtime on Unix? If not, we are stuck.
    We cannot use JServ (servlet limitations) and refuse to use OSE (to many issues).
    Any guidance or assistance would be greatly appreciated...

    Stephan,
    I have located multiple "connections" files and will remove all but the default located in the OC4J classes directory. We have been developing with JDeveloper and it often created multiple connections files that appear when you "jar" project components.
    We also installed JDK1.2.2_008 and are using this. However, when I use the classpath method of starting OC4J, I receive numerous errors. Using the jar method, everything works, with the exception of BC4J apps. I'll have to look into the errors more.
    Thanks for the response. At least I know one other person (organization) is using this successfully. I hope to join the "success" crowd tomorrow!
    Thanks again...

    you may need to check the sysliblist file in the rdbms/lib directory. I ran into a similar issue where the sysliblist file did not have the correct settings listed. consequently oracle was not starting in the correct order, I received the same message when trying to start my database.
    in adidtion, you may want to check the installation logs for any errors.
    hope this helps.

  • BO Enterprise 3.1 SR3 Installation with existing Oracle database

    Hi,
    I'm completely new to Business Objects and have been reviewing the installation & planning guides for the installation. I'm hoping to use an existing Oracle 11.2g installation as the location for the CMS / Audit. The guides don't really explain in detail the steps to do this, but say this pre-requisite must bein place prior to running the installation.
    The section "Setting up an empty database for the CMS" sumarizes the tasks :-
    create tablespace, schema or database
    create new users/passwords for the CMS / Audit
    specify correct permissions to create.modify,delete tables and to create procedures
    Does anyone know of any further documentation that expands on the above to detail the steps further ?
    Regards,
    Brian.

    Hi Brian,
    Have you looked at the XI 3.1 Installation Guide for Unix? This has information specific to Oracle (page 38).
    The PDF is available at:

  • Run-time, unix or dbms service ?

    'couldn't find a clear answer in Install Guide so here I am again, place where I get most of the answers to my problems (please let it be so once again):
    - we migrated from OWB v9.0.2 to v9.2
    - an important system novelty (and pain) was to HAVE to install runtime repository on server side using Universal Installer from the Unix bundle instead of from client
    - we're encountering hostility from production team from the unix bundle being so opaque
    - especially since it deals with a "runtime service"
    QUESTION(S):
    - is the run-time service a strictly internal database job or is it a Unix process ?
    - does the OWB runtime install package actually ends up setting up Unix processes or anything else outside the database ?
    - why that ? (what couldn't be performed a simpler way through a sql*net connexion to make sysops feel safer about it ?)
    Thanks

    Hi Gautam,
    I hope there is some configuration missing out for the Service desk.
    The client where in you are having service desk was generated by which client as the source?
    As per my information it should be 001 and not 000.

  • SAP CRM 5.0 installation

    Hi,
    Can anyone please advise whether I will able to install SAP CRM 5.0 in my laptop having configuration as 500GB as HD, 4GB as RAM.Intel i3 processor,HP pavilion?

    The installation guides ARE step-by-step - you have a planning guide on how to set up your operating system (kernel parameters, filesystems etc.) and you have the installation guide itself where it guides you step-by-step through the installation steps.
    Every installation, especially on Unix, is to some extend individual so just following screenshots will bump you out at the first error that will occur.
    I'm not blaming, I'm just saying that following screenshots without understanding what's happening won't be that successfull.

  • SAP Content server hp unix apache issue

    Once we completed the DMS installation on HP Unix ( HP 11.23) we found
    that the apache server is not running and gaved the following error
    while trying to start that.
    $ apachectl -v
    Server version: Apache/2.0.52
    Server built: Mar 26 2011 15:20:39
    $ apachectl start
    Syntax error on line 233 of /home/sapcsc/conf/httpd.conf:
    Cannot load /home/sapcsc/modules/mod_sapcsc2.so into server: Invalid
    argument
    We followed the note 664384 and exported the following enviorement
    variable in the system. We logged into the system with user sapcs and
    executed these commands.
    export LDFLAGS="+DD64 +DSitanium2"
    export CFLAGS="+DD64 +DSitanium2"
    After that we again configured the apache with following command.
    configure u2013prefix=/usr/users/sapcsc --enable-mods-shared=most u2013with-
    mpm=prefork
    Now, when we are trying to compile the apache by executing the make
    command we are getting following error.
    ld: Mismatched Data ABI. Expected EF_IA_64_ABI64 but found None in file
    xmltok.lo
    Fatal error
    Please advice are we missing any steps .
    Regards

    Hi Markus ,
                         Few things I noticed
    1. The apache was installed as per the three steps mentioned in the guide and note 664384 , however we did not exported the environment variable for 64 bit. when we tried to run the apache after the DMS installation it gave this error .
    $ apachectl start
    Syntax error on line 233 of /home/sapcsc/conf/httpd.conf:
    Cannot load /home/sapcsc/modules/mod_sapcsc2.so into server: Invalid
    argument
    2. Now when we tried to install it using the 64 bit after exporting the environment variable it gave Mismatched Data ABI error , now even when we have unset the enviorement variable it is not getting installed and giving same Mismatched Data ABI error.
    Here is the required information.
