BI IP Executing planning sequence via process chain not possible

Hi,
we use BI IP and have defined a process chain (RSPC) with value type process planning sequence. When we execute it, we get error message
"Inconsistent input parameter (parameter: <unknown>, value <unknown>)"
When we execute this planning sequence via the modeller or via SE38 RSPLS_PLSEQ_EXECUTE everything works fine. I thougt the cause could be the user of the job itself (job is executed with different user, and variant of planning sequence is user-dependent!), but I changed the user in the job itself as well without results.
any thoughts?

Hi,
I executed with my user and have a SAP_ALL authorization. Perhaps it could be because we use authorisation with the old method (4.0) (-> I'm not sure on this). I also think it has to do with authorization. I'll check this out with our authorization consultant.

IP: Error in packaged planning sequence in process chain

Hi all,
We run a planning sequence from within a process chain. As the data transferred are quite a lot, we have packaged with setting "automatically" and with 30 packages to be built. Now the function returned (it ran already successfully before!) an error message stating:
Master cannot read return value from subprocess 2
and another error:
An error occurred with the maintenance of the query directory.
Do you have any idea what this could be?

Hi Rakesh,
It's a BASIS problem. After transport during process chain activation, the background user tries to logon with the password and if it fails the chain will not be activated. The contents will be transported though. You can manually activate the chain. You can request the Basis guys to fix this.

Error in execute planning sequence variant in process chain

Hi ,
While creating an Execute planning sequence variant in process chain in Quality system , i am getting an error" variable variant not selected ' though i created a variable variant and selected it in execute planning seq variant.
Transporting it from development system didnt work therefore i am trying to create it directly in Quality .
Any idea what could be the issue.

Variable variant can be saved for planning sequence in modeler and then cab be used in process chains.
In process chain you can choose "Execute planning sequence"( separate process type) and add planning sequence with variant.

I have 6 ODSes. I load these on a daily basis with 6 different flat files. ODS1, ODS2 and ODS3 needs to be loaded first before ODS4, ODS5, ODS6.
Once all six ODSes are loaded, they are then aggregated based on some two key fields to and loaded into a cube. Npw I want to automate the process.
Can you please check if my plan for the process chain is right:
1. Start Process:
direct Scheduling
Change Selections:
Start date & Time
Period Jobs: check
Periodic Values: Daily
Restrictions: Always execute job
2. Indexes:(this flows into the first 3 ODSes)
Delete indexes
3. Load Data:
Load Data ODS1
Load Data ODS2
Load Data ODS3
4. Activate ODS1
5. Activate ODS2
6. Activate ODS3
(? What do I setup here so that the following will be loaded only if ODS1, ODS2 and ODS3 are successful)
7.Load Data
Load Data ODS4
Load Data ODS5
Load Data ODS6
8.Delete Indexes
9. Load Data
Load data from ODS1, ODS2, ODS3, ODS4, ODS5, ODS6 to the CUBE
10.Activate Cube (?Needs to activate cube? Is there a process type like that of activate ODS)
11. Create Index (Hm, will the Delete and create indexes in this plan take apply to both ODS and Cube)

2. Load the data to ODS in parallel (ODS1 , ODS2 & ODS 3)
3. Activate the three ODS , with separate ODS activation process type.
4.Put an AND condition
5. load data to ODS4 ,5 and 6
6. Activate ods4 ,5, & 6.
7. delete index for cube
8. load different data from ods to cube
9. create index.
                start
load ODS1 -- Load oDS2 -- Load ods 3
Activate ODS1 - Activate oDS2 - Activate ODS3
                 AND (process)
Load oDS4      load ods5    load ODS 6
Activate oDS4 Activate ODS5 Activate ODS 6
                 AND
          Delete the index
           Load data from different ODS to cube
            Create Index
   there is no concept of activating the cube .. it is only applicable to ods.

Process Type ABAP does not work properly via process chain

Dear SDNers
I am running a process chain and it contains process type ABAP program. ABAP program was running correctly till now via this process chain. ABAP program process type generally takes approximately 2 hours to run. But now, this process type for ABAP program just run for less than 1 minute and finishes successfully. The issue is that ABAP program does not run at all.
I ran the ABAP program in background and it took approximately 2 hours to run. ABAP Program is local means in our BW system and does not involve Remote Function call. We have BI7.0 system
Has some one came across this type of issue?

Has the aleremote user or which ever user you have defined for background scheduling changed permissions recently?
What happens if you create an adhoc chain and include this ABAP variant, does it run then?
What does the log say in SM37 when run via process chain?

UTF-8 file via process chain doesn't load

Hello all!
I've a big problem. I try to load a UTF-8 file via process chain. I have a script which generate the correct name and the process chain will load the file daily. The file format is UTF-8. I've created a info package with the adapter OPEN_DS load text type file from application server and the character set is 4110 (Unicode UTF-8) but it doesn't work. I try it directly - not via routine - and it works perfect but I can't load with the adapter GUI-UPLOAD load text type file from local workstation via process chain.
I switched the code page back to 1100 sap internal ISO 8859-1 but with this settings I have a lot strange chars in my texts. Any solutions?

Loading master data via process chain

hi experts,
I have to load data in infoObject via process chain, my infopackage has update mode as full update. Now my question is do I have to delete the previously added data from infoObject and then run this full update infopackage in process chain or system will only fetch the newly added records from source.

You can not delete the data from master data once the transcational data is posted against the master data value. Attribute value can be deleted, but you can not delete the value of the main characteristics from master data table.
Moreover, you dont need to delete the data when loading master data. Master data always overwritten with the new reocrds.
As described, first load the full load and then on daily basis you can load the delta.
DO NOT FOGET TO SCHEDULE ATTRIBUTE CHANGE RUN to activate the newly loaded data into master data.
Make sure that your master data is not enhanced, otherwise any change in the enhanced field will not generate delta record. If this is the case, then load in full mode everyday.

Delete older data via process chain

Business needs only data for the past 45 days at any given time and the data loads are daily basis via process chain.
so I would like to have a step in Process chain to delete any data older than 30 days from today's date , on a daily basis.
How can I do that in the Process chain?

You can use a process type called Delete overlapping request from Infocube in process chain. To delete requests older than 30 days select Deletion selections and write ABAP routine under Request selection through routine using following template.
Routines for determining the old requests to be deleted after successfully loading a new request.
form compute_<InfoCube-Name>
tables l_t_request_to_delete structure rsreqdelstruc
using l_request like rsreqdone-rnr
changing p_subrc like sy-subrc.
*Insert Source Code to decide if requests should be deleted.
*All Requests in table l_t_request_to_delete will be deleted
*from Infocube <InfoCube-Name>.
*Add new requests if you want to delete more (from this cube).
*Remove requests you did not want to be deleted.
$$ begin of routine - insert your code only below this line-
     loop at l_t_request_to_delete.
     endloop.
     clear p_subrc.
$$ end of routine - insert your code only before this line-
ENDFORM.

Toggle Option in Process Chain not working

Hello SDNers,
I am experiencing the below scenario with one of my process chain.
Process Chain FLow
Start
|
|
Local Chain (To delete the already existing file from Application Server(ZFTP))
|
Local chain to rename the file
|
|
Local chain (Load data to cube)
|
|
Local chain to backup a file from Appl. Server
In the above flow, the step 2 has been set to proceed further even if there are no files to delete in the application server. To achieve this I am using a toggle option between the step 2 and 3.
At times, the chain progress further when there are no files to delete as expected but not all the times.
I am trying to figure why the step which is supposed to progress further is not progressing some times even though it has been set to move further.
Any advice would be helpful.

Error in Step Copy Plan version in Process Chain

Hi all,
We have step in Process Chain called 'Copy Plan version'.This stet is getting failed quite frequently. I just repeat it and the error is getting solved. I just wanted to know that is there any permanent solution for that. We cant afford to getting it failed that frequently.
I dont have any idea about this step. Can you please provide me information about this step and a possible remedy aw well.
The error messaage is :
Selection accesses data that is currently locked; user
Job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE.

This is due to "Selection accesses data that is currently locked; user" , there is another process from another process chain which locked the object at the same time frame , so due to that this step is failing
you can increase waittime 30mins(example)before this Step Copy Plan version executes in the process chain.
OR, change the schedule time for this process chain

Urgent : Download file from Application Server via Process Chain.

Hi Experts,
My requirement is to download the file from Application Server to local work station using an ABAP Program .
I want including the above ABAP program in a process chain to execute the program daily,
I tried to use ARCHIVFILE_SERVER_TO_CLIENT and GUI_DOWNLOAD but unfortunately both the above FM doesn't support to run through Process chain.
Can any one of you help me to send the code which selects a file from application server, downloads to local system and deletes it.

Regarding your case ..
I suggest you to create the program where it run this function: WS_DOWNLOAD.
After it, the program is run by your process chain.

How to delete masterdata via process-chain

Hi Specialists,
I need to delete masterdata which is not used in any cube/osd on a daily base.
But I cannot find a possibility to do that via the process-chain. There seems only to
be the option to delete the content of cubes and ods-object, but not of info-objects.
Could you please gimme some hint?!

Use function module RSDMD_DEL_MASTER_DATA in a ABAP program.. then schedule it in process chain..

Process chain not executing

Process chain is activated, but not getting execute.
Also no jobs are being scheduled for the same.

First check whether the process chain has been started or not. If not then schedule it again .
U can check whether the PC is started or not by using the Tcode : sm37
