BIP report "•" show "?"

It can show normally in my local pc, but uploaded the tmeplate the BIP server which is a linux server, the output PDF file shows "•" into the "?", can you tell me why?

Can u try with equivalent unicode character & #x2022;

Can BIP report have a progress bar/indicator?

Hello,
I have a BIP report embedded in a dashboard along with the BI answers report.
While processing, the BIP report shows a clock symbol indicating the progress bar where as BIP report is not showing anything.
this gives the end user a wrong impression that whether the report is executed or still processing.
Is there a way to set a text message or a symbol to show progress?
Please reply if you know how to.

Siebel BIP report not show correct data when current view=my programs view

Dear All,
I have report that contain field approval,
which is when i login as 'SASKIA' as example then i want to print report budget request,
this report contain field approval like :
Employee Login
HOKIONO
BAMBANG
PONGKY
SASKIA
but when i print the report it just show:
Employee Login
SASKIA
and it happened only if i print report in 'MY Programs' view,
the report show ok in 'All Programs' view.
and when checked in siebel tools, IO Program Container(that used in report), the link already set to all.
Please help me on this.

try adding a user property to your integration object:
User Property Name: "ViewMode"
User Property Value: "All"
see if it has any effect - for me it solved some issues with data not being displayed!

BIP Report in Siebel mobile is not working in languages other than English

Hi,
We have upgraded our Siebel from 7.8 to Siebel 8.1 and in that we have moved from Actuate to BIP Reports. We have created a customized report in which we have put in the Filters on '.rtf' file to show a particular set of data. This report is deployed for 3 languages : English (ENU), Portuguese (PTB) and Spanish (ESN).After deploying this report, on Web application, it is working fine for all the languages but we are facing an issue on mobile client, the report is only working fine in ENU but for other languages(PTB & ESN) it is failing (means the filter which we put on '.rtf' is not working on other languages).
Is anybody face this issue and what will be the solution for this?

I think you need to first translate the smartform into other languages. Before translation, it wont work.
Steps for translation:
1. goto Transaction SE63
2. in R3 Enterprise select form menu
Translation - ABAP Objects - Other long texts
3. select FS - SSF-Smart Form
4. Object Name: choose your smart form
5. select target language
6. press edit

1. Is it possible to compare 2 variables in single if statement in BI Publisher report as follows-
<?if: xdoxslt:get_variable($_XDOCTX,'RVal1') = xdoxslt:get_variable($_XDOCTX,'RVal2')?>
2. Is it possible to compare 1 variable with 1 xml tag in single if statement in BI Publisher report?
eg - <?if: ObjId = xdoxslt:get_variable($_XDOCTX,'RVal2')?>
We are having 2groups QuoteItem and QuoteItemXA. QuoteItem is a parent group and QuoteItemXA is a child group of QuoteItem. We want to compare value of field QuoteItemId from QuoteItem group with value of field ObjId from QuoteItemXA group in inner for loop(QuoteItemXA for loop).
We want to display values of one field only when values of these two fields matches. Hence we are taking 1 variable for QuoteItemId and comparing it as follows -
<?if: ObjId = xdoxslt:get_variable($_XDOCTX,'RVal2')?>
The RVal2 variable is already initialized and assigned value of QuoteItemId in outer for loop.
But above for loop is not filtering out any data.
When we tried giving hardcoded values as -
<?if: ObjId = '1-151QGPO' and xdoxslt:get_variable($_XDOCTX,'RVal2') = '1-151QGPO'?> then its showing report only for this QuoteItemId.
Please suggest us the solution- how to compare above two fields?

We have a BIP report on the Quote , Line Item and XA entities and we have the same issue with duplication of attributes due to use of Hierarchy parent lKey. I am assuming you would be having the same issue as well; as a result of which XA.ObjId is compared with QLineItem.Id

Link from OBIEE Report to BIP Report

I have a requirement in which I need to Create a Report in OBIEE and the values used in the prompts to execute the report in OBIEE needs to be passed through a link to BIP and Execute BIP report for selcted parameters.
The Report is working fine and I am able to pass the parameters from OBIEE to BIP but to make BIP Report function correctly. I have to apply same set of Parameters in BIP and they are visible in the header of the BIP Report.
Now the Requirement is to hide those parameters from BIP Report and BIP Report should run for the selected parameters from OBIEE dashboard.. On doing this the values passed from OBIEE are not getting filltered in BIP report and BIP Report is running for all records. Is there an alternate way to achieve this?

Enhancements to Parameter Display Options
Enhancements to parameter display options include:
Support for radio button and check box display of values
Parameters that are defined as a menu in the data model can now be configured to display the menu options as a list of radio buttons or check boxes. Parameters configured to support one value support the option to display as radio buttons. Parameters configured to support multiple values support the option to display as check boxes.
New options for placement of parameters in the report viewer
Previously the report viewer always displayed the parameters in a horizontal region across the top of the viewer. In this release the display of the parameter region can also be configured in one of the following ways:
In a vertical region along the right side of the viewer
As a dialog
As a separate full page
New report viewer action button to show or hide parameters
This release adds an action button to the report viewer to enable users to hide or show the parameter region. This enhancement complements the new parameter display options. When report parameters are configured to display as a dialog or in a separate full page, the parameter display region is dismissed when the viewer displays the report. Use the Parameters button to redisplay the parameter region to make new selections.
Search added to menus
All parameter menus having more than a specified number of options provide a Search option. For more information, see Section 3.3.1.1, "The Parameter Search Dialog."
Option to remove the Apply button
Reports can now be configured to remove the parameter Apply button. In these reports the action of selecting a new parameter value automatically reruns the report.

ApEx BIP report using webservice: could not convert null to bean field

Seems like a pretty straightforward problem but I don't manage to find a solution.
I have a BI Suite implementation on one server.
And a database with ApEx on another server.
I want to call a BIP report from within my ApEx application using the webservices (runReport) available in BIP 11g.
I used soapUI to test my webservice. Result : OK
When called from within ApEx, ApEx gives me a succes message but the report isn't generated. Instead the console on the BIP server shows the following error:

'sizeOfDataChunkDownload' is a field of the webservice that is left empty.
That indeed is the only difference between my soapUI test and the ApEx situation.
In soapUI I removed all empty fields. In ApEx this does not seem possible...
Some extra information:
- the webservice is created on this WSDL : /xmlpserver/services/v2/ReportService?wsdl
- it's defined as a SOAP v2
- no basic authentication
- the reports are defined in the BIP environment; not in ApEx

I overlooked a not nillable field...

View BIP report with parameter in Dashboard, but the parameter not appear

OBIEE 10.3.4.1 on Redhat 5.2.
I have a BIP report with 3 parameters which work fine in BIP. Now I embedded it in BI Dashboard, but not see the parameter menu when view in Dashboard. Is this the feature, or I missed something.

On the BI publisher Report Properties window, for Display Mode, select 'Link'. Then you should see the Report Object appear as a link, save and on the dashboard page when you click that link, the BI publisher report will show with the parameters..

HTML tags in BIP Report

Hi,
I have a BI Report which is based on OBIEE analysis report.
There is one column which contains HTML Data as stored in the database.
This column contains data with "<p>" tags
In the OBIEE analysis, I have converted the data format of this column to 'HTML' and the OBIEE report shows only the text i.e'test data' in this case.
But the BIP report still shows the data in the way the data is stored in the database.
Is there a way in BI Publisher where the data will be changed to normal text rather than HTML?

I tried thesame thing. I am able to see html data n CSV format, and data in xml format
when I select other than these two fotrmats, it is givng error.
Error: The report cannot be rendered because of an error, please contact the administrator.

Supporting drilldowns in BIP reports defined in Web Layout Template Editor

Hi Experts,
We have a requirement to show a table in a BIP Report defined in a web layout template editor and within this report, if there is drilldown on one of the columns, we would want to display more details in an additional column to be displayed afresh. Also, we have a requirement to display the same whenever there is a selection from a report prompt. In addition, is such a drill down feasible from within a graph? Is this achievable? We know this is feasible in OBIEE - not sure about BIP. Any pointers in this direction is appreciated!

Can u call a BIP Report from within Oracle Forms?

We want to use BIP as a reports solution for a Forms 10g Application. Currently we use oracle Reports. I would be very grateful if anybody can show us how to do the following as I could not find it in any documentation. Of course, I get the feeling that these cannot be done, but I want to double-check.
(1.) How to call a BIP report with a input parameters from within an Oracle 10g Menu? i.e. when the user clicks on the menu item, BIP should be started and it should run the report within the BIP.
-- So we also need a way to pass parameters to the BIP
-- Also BIP has a different username/password also
Is this possible or NOT POSSIBLE( i.e. U have to ask the user to login to BIP and then run the report)?

Can we change the size of image dynamically in bip report. If yes can I get some doccument or samples on it.

I am doing small POC
I have a rtf template with three sample images on it with three different sizes for 1” by 1” , 3” by 3” and 5” by 5”.
I have a standard size of 2” by 2” image in my server (Could change size in future depending on req)
Now when I run the report the template should call the standard image from server and replace the sample images on the rtf and show the the standard image in three different sizes.
Pls let me know if i am missing something

This is exactly my case. There are NO options to customize BIP Report's control area (where filters are). There is NO way to change look-and-feel of Online Report Viewer!
In my case we've shifted to Dashboards (user set Report parameters via Dashboard Prompt), but here is another problem...
OBIEE - Publisher integration(multi-select value via Presentation Variavle)
It's really ununderstandable why OBI is so expensive and so bad!

Using OBI answers report as source in BIP report

All,
I am creating a BIP report using OBI answers request as source. I defined the data set, created RTF template from MS word and uploaded the same into BIP.
I am using dashboard prompts for this reports. I have 2 issues with this.
1. When I embed the BIP report in the dashboard along with BI answers report, the BIP report is not retrieving data when different metrics are selected in the prompts. for ex: grams and Kgs.
The logic to apply the factoring on data is already implemented in OBI. When i change the dashboard prompt, it is changing the data in BI answers report and not in BIP report. I am wondering why this might be happening. If you have any thought please share.
2. The BI report has some saved filters applied which uses some presentation variables in the filters. But those seem to be not effecting in BIP report. Please suggest any reasons and fix for these.
If any one have idea, please suggest.

The BI answers request contains saved filters, in which some filters have presentation variable and a default value set for the same. we are using this as source for the BIP report data set.
In this case the answers request is working correctly based on the prompt value selected where as the BIPub report is not working. The BIP report is working for only the default value. If we change the prompt for that parameter, it is showing no rows.
How BIP takes care of such answers request based reports?

Another shortcoming in BIP: Can show only 1 column in an LOV.

There are two options.
You choose'd, the parameter type as MENU
you got to use it other way.
select NAME, CODE from TABLE
BIP shows, NAME and internally CODE will be passed inside the parameter.If you want to show both in MENU format, do this.
select NAME||CODE "NAME", CODE from TABLEIf you want more Advanced Type LOV,
Choose, Search in the parameter type.
it will automatically show all the columns
