i have spoken to Blackbery twice and they tell me i have to speak to vodafone
sems as though no one can fix it

Hello,
Well, unfortunately, here in this user-to-user community, there is even less hope of any help for this. Only your carrier and/or BlackBerry can resolve this, and therefore you need to persist with them.
Good luck!

  • Video Chat via Playbook PIN's, having problems...

I have two Playbooks on OS2.0 sharing the same Blackberry ID. I'm trying to use Video Chat via Playbook PIN's and I'm not having any luck. Call attempts fail with "The person you called is not currently available".
    - both Playbooks have Accept Calls On
    - both Playbooks are on the same home wi-fi network, i.e. same router
    - the router has firewall enabled (Toggling off the firewall doesn't seem to help and I'd rather have it on. Skype works from the desktop computer with firewall on.)
    - in Contacts, both Playbooks show each other with green video chat icons. Turning off Accept Calls will actually change the state of the video chat icon to gray, as expected. (The state change doesn't update immediately, but after a failed call.) This tells me that the Playbooks are talking to RIM's servers?
    - I'm not getting the "A Firewall is preventing Video Chat from connecting" or "Unable to Connect to Server" error messages. http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB26845 This leads me to believe that the Playbooks are able to see RIM's servers?
    - Some people have reported that putting the Playbook in the DMZ (DeMilitarized Zone) of the router works, but it's risky security-wise (The Playbook is open to the general internet.). My router only allows for one IP address in the DMZ, which isn't useful with my two Playbooks.
    - The alternative to DMZ is port forwarding, which is more secure. My router only allows specific IP's to be used and since the Playbook IP's are dynamically allocated, setting this isn't helpful. http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB26816
Could someone with two Playbooks sharing the same Blackberry ID's please try to use Video Chat via Playbook PIN's and report whether it works or not? I'd like to isolate out whether it's a problem with Video Chat or my router/home wi-fi.
    Thank you!

It won't work since they have the same blackberry ID.
I have tried many time and it won't work. Only the playbook that last connected to app world can use video chat.

  • Arc S ICS sim-lock (pin) and APN problems

I had a problem with mobile network APN settings. After Upgrade to ICS I had a working 3G connection, but after less than a week I was unable to use mobile internet. I tired in several different ways to fix APN settings (auto config SMS from provider, manual set and auto config from google servers). Strangely that internet had  been worked KIND OF (just get notifications about facebook changes but can't fully load facebook, can't load web pages or skype, but some internet related notifications worked). Then I found some information on forum that sim-lock (a.k.a PIN) removal could help. And that worked. So I want to inform Sony Ericsson  about this problem. I could give some more information if you tell me how (have some experince in linux bug-tracking and debuging)

We are aware that this was an Android/operator problem back in a older Gingerbread version but I have not noticed it on ICS. I suspect that this might be related to the SIM card. So check if your can use PIN code if you get a new SIM card from you network operator.

  • I have OsX 10.6.8, and imac 2007-08, and enough disk space to download yosemite but still Apple tells something is wrong and generates a list of maybes but not a specific reason. Any ides as to how to pin point the problem of the upgrade?

Want to upgrade from 10.6.8 to yosemite  and I have a imac 2007, and enough disk space. but when trying to download, I get a "I can't" due to a list of possible issues, but how to isolate the problem?
    Thanks,
    josefromaptos

Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion/Mavericks/Yosemite.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.
iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) model number 7,1 or higher
    Your Mac needs:
OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
2 GB or more of memory (More is better - 4 GB minimum seems to be the consensus)
8 GB or more of available space
Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.
    Application Compatibility
    Applications Compatibility (2)
    Do a backup before installing.
If you can/do upgrade, I recommend you make a copy of the installer and move it out of your Applications folder. The installer self-destructs. The copy will keep you from having to download the installer again.  You can make a bootable USB stick to install using this free program.

  • 4-pin and 6-pin USB cable- problems

    Hi guys,
my original 6-pin Apple USB cable has often been used and thats what it looked like. So I bought a non-Apple USB cable. I noticed, that it has only 4-pins and it doesnt work with my 3G. The strange thing is, that it works great/as good as the Apple one on his 3G. I know that you`ll probably sugest buying a real Apple one, but they were to expensive for me.

  • 24 Pin Power Supply Problem with 6507

Have fitted new (quiet) PSU Akasa P400FG to a Mobo MSI 6507 and it does not work. The PSU has 24 pins so used 24 to 20 pin adaptor. Noted that nothing was going to pin 18 (-5v) on the Mobo, but understand this is normal as not used on more modern boards.
Monitor blank/all fans running/CD & HDD nothing/Power on and HDD lights on case continually illuminated.
Refitted original JeanTech 300w PSU and all worked. Got a replacement unit from Akasa and situation unchanged.
    What could be wrong.
    Processor P4 2GHz
    Ram 128Mb
    Graphics Radeon 9800PRO
    40Gb HDD
Please help as have nothing else to try.
    Paul

What about the 4-pin connector that goes to the MOBO as well. You have 2 connectors to go to the MOBO, the 20 pin and a 4 pin. The 4 pin connector is square and, on my MOBO, the connector goes to JPW1 on the board. This is what provides power to the CPU.

  • Blackbery Torch 9810 Hardware Problem..

I Bought A Blackberry Torch 9810 Few Weeks Ago, And Trid To Upgrade My Phone From 7.0 to 7.1 OS But Was Not Able To Do From My Home So When I Went To The Blackberry Service Centre For The Upgrade Of OS 7.1 From 7.0 They Said That The Upgrade Cannot Be Done Due To Hardware Problem And Your Phone Will Be Sent To Bangalore For The Same Querry For 15 Days.
Plz Help Me What Should I Do, My Phone Is Brand New And They Are Telling That Its Hardware Problem?
    This Is What Blackberry Is?
I What To Update My Phone..

Since you said your phone is brand new & the blackberry service centre confirm its a hardware issue. are you still able to bring this brand new phone back to the carrier and exchange for another one? Since exhange with carrier for a brand new phone is faster than 15 days. If they don't allow exchange i guess your only option is wait 15 days for them to fix it.

  • I tried to delete and reinstall Lightroom 5 and have the same problems. I was on chat last night and got a reinstall. This Am The shortcut is broken and when I open directly it is asking me for my serial number. I did that last night.

I successfully got Lightroom to open, it does not show my SD drive. I added the SD drive (folder) and it opened a few photos but then opened an old catalog. I tried again and got grey thumbnails with the correct Canon file numbers but no images. When I selected import, it opened an old catalog and began to convert it. I recently got the creative cloud subscription and I can open these photos there after pinning.  The problem is, I don't have time to figure out Photoshop before I need these photos.

Thank you for responding. I can display my CR2 files in any program that
will show them. I can drag or "pin' them to the Ps logo or button at on the
task bar and they will be available in Photoshop. I purchased Lightroom
before the Creative cloud was available. that's why I have a serial number.
You've got me thinking I have two "dueling" programs of Lightroom. Could
this be the problem? I have now deleted Lightroom and was going to
reinstall. I will wait and figure out the reinstall from the Creative
    Cloud. thank you again.

  • GPIB and RS232 communication problems

I've been having several "interesting" problems with GPIB and RS232 communications in LabVIEW VIs.  Some I'll mention at the end for curiosity, but right now I'm facing a rather big problem.  I'm essentially self-taught at doing LabVIEW (using 8.5.1 right now), but by now I've had a lot of experience as their either has not been any drivers or pre-made VIs for the instruments I've needed or I've not been able to get the available drivers to work and had to write my own anyway (such as with the HP 3458A), but nothing seems to be working right now.  I'm not at work, but we typically find forum sites blocked anyway (I can't even download the NI drivers at work since they house them on a ftp server, go figures) so I can't give the VI itself (it wouldn't be easy to get approval even if I could) so the best I can do right now is in words describe everything I've tried.  I will be happy to post follow-ups of specific details if I can if they would be helpful.
I've been working on a routine to read data from an MKS 670 Signal Conditioner/Display with a MKS 274 Multiplexer with 3 connected MKS 690A Baratrons.  Previously I've worked on programs using other older displays and the analog outputs which were being read by a DAQ card, but for a new project it was decided to try and just read the data directly.  I first worked with a unit with just an RS232 Serial Port which I managed to get to work, but had so much problems with garbage readings and having to add checks and re-reads that by the end no matter what delays I added between each reading and how simplified the command routine down to just 2 sequences and the read that it took at least 10 seconds to get 1 reading from each channel.
Figuring maybe it was a limitation of the serial communications for these instruments I tried to re-work it for a unit with a GPIB port with which I'm actually much more familiar.  The problem is that I cannot get anything at all from the unit through GPIB.  Everything even the bare-bones built-in GPIB CLR function times out with no response from the instrument no matter how long I set the timeout limit and it also freezes the entire GPIB bus as well.  It isn't a waiting issue as it freezes on the very first command.  The GPIB initialization function seems to work (I typically find this to be unnecessary), but the instrument itself doesn't even respond with a status code.  I've also tried just the basic GPIB write functions with even just passing the <cr> and <lf> characters as well.  In Measurement and Automation Explorer most of the time the instrument won't even appear when doing search for instruments and when it does it shows as not responding to the *IDN? command (yes I've messed with the EOI, EOS, etc settings and I've even changed the GPIB address even though when it gets this far it confirms that I have the correct address) and even tried manually doing the *IDN?, *RST, and *CLR commands even with <cr> and <lf> characters which the manual for these units clearly states are compatible commands and NI SPY and everything show no response at all.  I've tried 2 different GPIB units, 3 different computers including several that are not online and haven't been updated for a while, and using older LabVIEW versions, extensive re-booting and resetting of computers and devices and still nothing.  I'm using an NI GPIB-USB-HS GPIB to USB adaptor which I've used extensively on other systems and even re-connected to those systems and everything worked fine.  When I hooked up equipment that I knew was working, it would either freeze the entire GPIB bus until well past whatever timeout setting I set at which point all the instruments would appear, but none responding to *IDN? queries or nothing would appear at all, or if I manually turned it off when frozen the other instruments would work and most even respond to the *IDN? queries.  The same goes for both of the GPIB instruments of this type that I tried and again for different versions of LabVIEW, difference computers (all Windows XP though), and every GPIB configuration setting I can find to mess with in every combination.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  I've had all sorts of weird problems with equipment and LabVIEW (you've got to love undocumented design features) that have frustrated me before, but I've never had an instrument never respond at all especially a GPIB one.  Getting garbage yes, no response at all, no.
The side side issues I'm just mentioning as they may be related, but I'm really interested in the above as I have working solutions for these:
One I've had is with a Hart Scientific (prior to being bought by Fluke) 1560 Black Stack that would continually stop responding to GPIB commands when on a continual read function taking readings just every 4 seconds with 250ms between each GPIB read or write command but for up to hours in total and the times it stops responding are random as far as I can tell.  I even started sending the *RST command before and after every read or write command and still it freezes.  The only thing is to manually turn it off and then back on or manually go through the menus and manually trigger the GPIB reset routine at which point it immediately starts responding.  However, when I got sick of having to babysit it and just decided to try the RS232 serial port (as that is all it has without the extended communications module) it works fine no problem and I can even get readings slightly faster from it.  Using a Hart Scientific 1529 Chub-e it could give me data on all 4 channels every second without problems.  I just find it a bit odd.
When I couldn't get any of the HP 3458A driver packs to work to even give a single measurement reading and just made my own using basic GPIB read/write commands using the programming manual I still have a few interesting problems in randomly when reading off the full possible 256 bytes on the bus and clearing the bus I often find garbage partial readings on the bus every now and then.  I've added a few routines to do some basic checks, but it is annoying.  What is really weird is when just doing basic DC Voltage reads the "-" sign will randomly be dropped from some readings (started as about 1 out of every 5, down now to about 1 out of every 10).  Fortunately I'm taking several readings and averaging and taking the standard deviation with limits on the deviations and basically added a routine to say if there is even 1 negative number take the absolute value of all then make all negative, but again I find it weird.
    Thanks.

    Greetings Leif,
I understand you have completed extensive troubleshooting techniques to pin-point the problem with the GPIB communication. To begin, I want to ask you a few questions to help me understand your set-up and the issue at hand.
    1) Is the NI GPIB-USB-HS cable the one which cannot communicate with your instrument?
    2) When using the GPIB-USB-HS, does the GPIB interface show up in MAX?
    3) If yes, does the instrument appear in MAX after scanning for instruments (from what I understand in your issue, it does so in an intermittent manner..)?
    4) What driver version of VISA do you have installed in your computer?
    5) Are you able to communicate to the same instrument using another GPIB cable?
Thank you for trying out some of these steps again, but we want to make sure we rule out other aspects in the systems which might be affecting the GPIB communication.
As for your other issues, please post seperate threads for each so we can help you accordingly. Thanks!

  • Premiere pro CS4+media encoder CS4 problem encoding to WMV and MOV

    Hello,
I am new to CS4. I lurked around the meanders of CS4 help and FAQ. In spite of the large help database I could not find a solution to my issue.
I edited a little movie from shots I took during holidays. I edited in premiere pro cs4 and it is a bit faster than CS3 <yoohoo>
However I want to export the movie as NTSC source to high quality download. In the Expot settings,  I wrote a file output of course so it can encode and compile the movie somewhere on my HDD and I did not touch anything in standad NTSC source to high quality download values and tabs. In the end the movie should be around 848 mega.
I press OK, then Media Encoder pops up on screen. my project comes automatically in Media Encoder which is neat so I just had to click on start Queue but here is my problem...
I can wait for 4 hours or more, Media Encoder status states Encoding but nothing moves forward. Elapsed time remains at 00:00:00, Estimated Remaining remains blank.
Although something triggered my attention when I widen Media Encoder Source Name tab. It sounds like my project from Premiere Pro is placed in a temporary folder instead of using the regular save project file folder in ...>adobe>premiere pro>4>sebsofie2010b which strange.
I try to place a picture of my issue and perhaps it will help everyone.
This picture was taken about 1 hour and half after I tried to encode the movie for the fifth time.
    The status quotes "Encoding"...
Thanks in advance for any help

    Hello,
This is Song to an Illiad. I had to change Email address and password as I am switching provider soon.
So Ok to bypass the issue at that time, I simply transfered all files to a jumpdrive and re-did the composition at a friend house. Although my problem persist and Thank you for the Wiki link it was helpful. Sherlock free ware discovered several erronous Codec. Do not ask me why, how, when please. I do not toy around with codecs and all I do is update software but I have several software going from Adobe to Autodesk series as well as Nero Light version that came with my Dvd burner.  Should I also mention I play video games when down time permits, as such I updated several time the DirectX software. Beside this, what is it called... Dvix or Xvid, well something like that... prompted me about 2 months ago to update to a newer version which I did. Finally I installed a freeware to export an avi type to another found on Cnet.com a few months ago as the file could be seen in Premiere pro but there were no Audio track seen in premiere while the client gave me his camcorder and I knew there should be an audio track, it was a sort of camcorder that records on a memory sticks which is why the camera was small. It was a canon but nothing more detailed than that. Anyway, I had the camera with no drivers whatsoever and I had a hard time to find the driver for free online which is why I found a freeware or perhaps was it a shareware or a trial (I am not sure), anyway it decoded and re-encoded the movie which it did successfully with lots of image loss quality but it was succesful. I know I deliberatly threw the shareware or trial straight in the garbage once I was done because I do not want this kind of junk on my PC. Perhaps could it be the issue with Media Encoder not able to start?!?!
Here comes a couple of texts Copy/Past & image to describe what Sherlock found

What should I do? Can I just reinstall the codec from my Adobe CS4 Production Suite (Without) creating more issues and problems? It seemed the Wiki hints were helpful to pin point a problem but not always at giving solution.
    Thanks in advance,
    Seb
P.S: Could Adobe throw a little software to download to ensure all codecs are what they should be like and prompt user to reinstall straight from our Dvds? It would be soo much easier that way.

  • Vga cable: 14 vs 15 pin

I recently bought VGA splitter, that's 14 pin. My VGA cable is 15 pin.
After connecting the Cable to the splitter the monitor resolution goes down, then if the VGA cable is directly connected to the PC vga adapter.
So, I looked online to see diffrence between the 14 and 15 pin VGA. I could not find much information, but few blogs. They say 1 or 2 pins are obsolute, so there is no diffrence between 14 and 15 pin cable.
Then, I boght a 14 pin VGA cable to try. But it don't give the high resolution as 15 pin cable. It's same low resolution picture as 15 pin cable with splitter attached.
So is it right that 14 and 15 pin VGA cables are same, and if that's right do I need and display setting changed?
Connecting 14 pin cable don't even  give the resolution option as 15  pin cable give in Display settings. There is only 3 option.

I have seen this problem and question in various forms many times, and have never seen the correct answer given. So here is the answer. Please spread it around, since many people seem to have the problem:
VGA 15 pin cables often have only 14 active pins. Pin 9 is missing. (This missing pin is on the middle row of pins, one pin from the end.) This missing pin is a problem for flat screen TVs.
Pin 9 is required by most, if not all, plasma and lcd TV's to supply back to the computer graphics card information about the available resolution of the monitor. Pin 9 carries a 5 volt signal to the DDC (display data channel). New computer monitors (LCD or CRT) do not seem to need this pin, and work fine without it -- as a result the majority of VGA cables labeled as "15 pin" really only have 14 pins, and this is never explained or noted in the packaging or product specifications! The only way to tell if a "15 pin" VGA cable actually has all 15 pins is to look at the connector and count the pins. If the middle row has only 4 pins, then the critical pin 9 is missing.
From the posts I have seen -- and from my own experience with my 50" Pioneer PDP-5070HD plasma TV -- nearly all flat screen TV's DO NEED this pin to return information about the native screen resolution.
I have seen dozens of posts by people trying to set up their HTPC's to work with their big screen plasma, but not being able to set the resolution (usually 1360 x 768) on their video adapter card. Some people on the forums argue they had "no problem" while others cannot make it work. People blame the video card or video card drivers. No one seems to figure out the problem is a missing pin on the supposedly standard "15 pin VGA cable" many people are using!
I had the same problem with my ATI 9800 Pro graphics card using a 15 pin VGA cable with only 14 pins. When I changed to a full and true 15 pin cable, the ATI 9800 immediately sensed the native resolution of the plasma TV.
So the difference between a 15 pin and a 14 pin VGA cable is not "just one pin", as one sarcastic idiot answered to a previous post of this question. The absence of the pin 9 signal (5 volt to the DDC) means your your very expensive plasma or LCD TV cannot notify your computer graphics card about its supported resolution. Get a VGA cable with all 15 pins, and your problem may be resolved. But you will have to search to find one by visually examining the plug. Remember, all the VGA cables are labeled and sold as "15 pin VGA cable" even if they actually have only 14 pins. Check it out.
(BTW, there is a reason to leave the 5 volt signal off the cable when it is not needed. However, for LCD and Plasma TV's, it is needed.)

  • Problems with Pages 5 docs converting to Word docs

It seems with the new upgrade on my MacBook Air, I have a glitch. Now when I convert a Pages doc to Word, the page breaks get removed and the doc turns into a sea. Also, I sent this new Word doc to my Kindle to upload into ebook form (never had a problem with Pages 09 previously, always came out beautifully) and now the doc turns into a digitally mangled mess. Any ideas?? Thank you.

Usually when it does that it is because there is an XML table somewhere buried in there and either the table width or margin indents are forcing the text far left.
Hard to pin down the problem with being able to examine the actual file contents.
    …and Pages 5 is buggy.
So why don't you just use Pages '09? It works.

  • Problem while emailing after exporting as PDF.

I have this strange problem. Basically, we have this VB6/SQL2005 application that exports crystal report into pdf attaches it to email and then send it in email...now most of the time and i would say about 95% of time, the email goes fine and they receive it fine. But recently it has started where they dont receive email on the other side. No rejection email message. No bounce back message.
Becuase of different email clients on the other side, it is very hard to pin point the problem.
    We are using Crstal XI.
    Any help would be appreciated..
    Thanks
    Raj

It may be the other mail server is detecting the attachement and blocking it. Check with them first.
Please re-post if this is still an issue or purchase a case and have a dedicated support engineer work with you directly:

  • Macbook airport problems linked to battery power?

I too have experienced the macbook/airport problem, specifically since 10.5.8 came back. When I upgraded to 10.5.8, it was so useless that I just reinstalled tiger. Then Snow leopard came out and I upgraded only to experience the same problem but not as severe.
I have just been able to pin/point the problem today (mainly because I just grew so frustrated and spent considerable time trying to figure out). I have tried all the other potential fixes posted on here to no avail (changes airport settings, replacing card, changing dynamic IP to manual, encryption etc).
This is what I have determined and was able to reproduce it:
When macbook is running on power (plugged in):
If battery power is below 60%, connection is spotty - the lower it is, the worst the problem.
If the battery power is above 60%, no problems at all, runs fast and no drops.
When macbook power is not plugged in and running on battery:
    Below 60% almost useless
Above 60% spotty and worse as the battery drains
Can anyone else test this out? I've sent Apple an e-mail.

I've gone down to maybe 15% without any noticable difference in connection.

  • Two problems with recent kernels - KMS resolution and fan speed

Two issues have arisen since kernel26-2.6.32-6.  One is that that the boot process and all consoles only use approx. two-thirds of the screen, with the correct console font - as if the resolution is being detected as 800x600 rather than 1440x900.  The other, which may or may not be connected but also cropped up in that upgrade, is that my main laptop fan jumps to 100% speed near the start of booting, and stays there.  Downgrading to 2.6.32-5 solves both problems, which persist through to 2.6.32-9.  (That I normally boot into a custom kernel which I haven't bothered upgrading is why I've not tried to pin down the problem(s) until now.)  Any ideas of what might be going on?  I've got an Aspire 7730 with an Intel Mobile 4 chipset, using i915.

Returning after another gap, still relying on a now-fairly-old kernel...

if there are more than one display enabled, the console will take the space of the smallest..
This seems plausible - unfortunately, I don't have access to any external device to check directly what's happening - where should I look in logs or the file system to see what's happening?
under i915, you have to pass to the kernel: video=VGA-1:off
    or whatever the display is.
This, and VGA-0 or 2, make no difference.
about the fan thing, if you can bisect that and report the commit that actually breaks your fan, they will probably fix it for future versions
I've tried and failed, and so have resorted to posting a rather unhelpful bug report - http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/19017
