Blackboard and iWork attachment issues

i am unable to insert an iWork09 document into blackboard where the instructor can edit the document...the format changes and is to a point unreadable and certainly uneditable. i can't even save a mac doc as a .doc. any ideas?

If Office 2008 is working properly, there's no reason to upgrade to Office 2011 if you don't need any feature included in Office 2011. Also, Office 2008 is supported in Mountain Lion, so you can continue using it.
You shouldn't have any problem if you upgrade to Office 2011, but you will get new features. was trying to setup Blackboard 8 application and have installed oracle client manually..still while running the installer we get following error,

What does the listener.ora and sqlnet.ora files on the database box look like?
i do not have access to the server
What do you see when you execute 'lsnrctl status' on the database box?
listener is fine as other clients are using this DB server.

ICloud lack of preferences and attachment issues

I've been using iCloud mail for a few weeks after leaving Outlook/Hotmail due to problems. It seems like I've traded off one set is issues for another set with iCloud mail.
There appears to be no preferences available at all to set up preferred body typefaces and styles, email signature (ie. setting sections in bold or italics), colours or anything like what I could do through Outlook. Even this forum box has more type settings, smileys and indent settings than iCloud
More annoyingly, any pdfs I attach and send through iCloud mail more often get a renamed to something along the lines of 'ATT000046.pdf'. This creates real issues for me as a freelance designer reliant on jobs being sent to my clients which are precisely named. I cannot work out why some clients receive the correctly named file, and others receive an 'ATT........' one.
Some files also change to .dat files (a Windows file!?) – this often happens when I zip several pdfs together.
It's getting really frustrating having no great functionality and the attachment issues too, I'd say iCloud mail is worse than Outlook.
Can anyone help?

This has happened to me as well and it's making me seriously consider going back to gmail. My pdf attachments are being received as .dat files. Plus, just this morning a pdf that I received came over as a .dat file into my iCloud mailbox. I forwarded the message to my gmail account and it was a perfect pdf that I opened.
I got my Mac about a year ago (which I LOVE) and I decided to go all Apple all the time. But
-The iCloud email thing has so many quirks, like thei .dat file thing.
-The Apple maps aren't as good as the Google Maps app. I was in NYC this weekend with the family and I tried to use both- Google just worked better (it hurts me to say that).
-I know that iCloud for documents is the wave of the future (or so they say), but Dropbox just works so effortlessly for my document storage.
-I know that iWoks is the future, but I can't collaborate with Pages-- my clients all need .doc files and I can't always export to a .doc file. Sometimes Pages won't let me export, other times things like indentations are off. I got picked for the beta test of iWorks in the cloud and it's nice, but limited in functionality
I'm wondering if I should be all Apple devices and go back to gmail/google maps/office. I don't want to do that- I want to be all Apple...not sure what to do because this is driving me crazy. I'm thinking of waiting for iOS7 to come out and see how it works. I know that Apple Maps is being updated too. Not sure.

My organization need to attach quotation scanned copy to PR and PO.I have following questions regarding PR and PO attachment.can any expert focus light on them? Right now we have not Configured the Document Management System.Latter we want to go for it but not now.
1.What is the Maximum size of the Document that can be attached to PR?
2.Any standard SAP practice to archive the PR attachments as a part of House Keeping?
3.Are there any limitations in type of file that can be attached? (.doc,.jpeg,.jpg,.bmp etc)
4.What is effect of attachments on Server performance if the attachments are piled up over a period of 1 year? How to cleanup?

1. There´s no maximum size for attachment,

2. If you have archive server then you can store all that attachment in archive server rather than saving it on SAP database.

4. Yes, it would have a performance issue if you store all of your attachments on SAP database, (depends on the sizes of attachments). Archiving these attachments would be a solution to this.

I need to merge my apple accounts to get proper function of iCloud and iWork apps

I like so many people now have two apple ids. Becase I was a mobile me subsriber and I had a itunes account. The migration from me.com to icloud.com created another apple id.
So if I want my apps and music i have purchased over years i have to use one id and if I want my mail (years of messages)and calander and the storage for which i have paid for i need the second apple id.
Apple allows you to sign into icloud with one id and the itunes store with another which although is a pain did work.
Until I bought the pages app for my ipad in the app store with the account that all of my itunes purchases are contained in. For me the major reason of this app purchase is to get my documents into icloud and readable on my phone.
Problem: Since the app was purchased with an apple id other than the icloud id icloud dosent know it exist so it wont sync the files to icloud. When im logged into icloud and click on the iwork section i get prompted to get pages which i alredey have and when it takes my to the app store it tells me that i have downloaded it. An annoying cycle of not "just working". *** Apple?
Will you please remedy this situation by allowing me to merge my ids. And please let me use an id (user name)of my choice. Why does it have to be an email address?

Attachment issue

I'm having this attachment issue since last 6 months or so, before I was sending around upto 10 jpg attachments through my curve, what happens now that even a small jpg image takes ages to remain in process of sending and than after some time I get error msg that msg could not be send "unknown error" My intelegent service provider Mobilink puts all blame to blackberry main server.

Your carrier should not say this to you. Blaming RIM will not take away the responsibilty of your carrier!! If RIM is to be blamed then carrier should escalate the issue to RIM. They can't take such a long time to resolve!!!

I found the solution like this
first you go to the directory of your computer and go to that folder where your database and other files are like
folder having database and files then > Right click and > security > then give full rights from which user you LOGIN and then apply > ok after that go to SQL Server 2008 > Right Click > run as administrator

Office 2010 standard attachment issue

We have encounter an attachment issue when we upgraded the MS office from Office XP to Office 2010. When we attach 2 or more attachments (I tried .PDF or .JPG). Office application will not response and the outlook trace icon will appear "Outlook is
retrieve data from exchange server". The attachment will appear at the message after 5-10 mins (The longest time was ~45mins to attach a 1MB .pdf).
I also tried to disable the outlook add-ins and run as safe mode (run outlook /safe). But the problem still exist.
Our exchange server is running at version 6.5.7638.1

Hi,
The "retrieve data" popups are usually an indication that the client is taking unusually long time to receive information back from the server, or contact the server. The causes for the popups are:
   - Exchange server performance problems
   - client (or add-in) problems
   - network related issues
   - large number of items in mailboxes
   - Active Directory related issues (performance issues etc)
Does this issue happen to all your clients or just a few users? If it happens to just a few users, please first make sure the mailbox size is not too large. Make sure these users don't have a large number of items in a folder. See:

Problems with 10.4.10 when installing iLife 08 and IWork 08

Hi there, I just bought iLife and IWork 08 and am having trouble installing them successfully. I upgraded to 10.4.10 to meet the requirements of IWork but my MacBook runs oddly when I install these two packages. Firstly the usual installer is not available so I am using a third party installer called pacifist to install the new software. The programs such as garageband and itunes and iphoto won't launch - other programs like safari crash. I am now back at 10.4.07. Any ideas on what could be causing these problems? My crash reporter references problems with frameworks and systemGUI. i did get Garageband to work briefly one night but the next day the problems returned. I have used disk utiity to check preferences but it was okay and does not seem to help. A hardware test was also okay and the system is operating fine in 4.7 so this seems to be a software issue. Any ideas? Should I wait unti the next version of 10.4.10?

I can see from your answer and others on this board, that we are not alone.
I was thinking of emailing Macworld or some of the other mac sites to get them to take up the story.
Otherwise I suppose it will be a period of denial from Apple
And then with a bit of luck an update that will iron out these bugs

Cannot use Live email in Firefox; will not send and the Attachment icon dissapears

When I open Live Sign In in Firefox on this computer, it will not let me send email and the Attachment, Photo, etc icons disappear. You cannot attach anything or send email. The Live email works fine in Chrome on this computer. Any suggestions?

This issue can be caused by malware.

Not distributued and Not included issues.

We have a couple of issues with Not distributed and Not included issues. First, since they are commingled with our variances they do not get passed through to PA so we are off between GL and PA. Second, the not distributed are not part of inventory since they remain in the variance account.
Anyone have experience with these and any solutions for these issues?
SAP says we can turn off the price delimiter but we are uncertain as to the effect overall.
Anyway to isolate these to a different GL account posting?

 **'Not distributed' price differences can be due to three reasons:
 A) System applied a 'Price limiter' logic (stock coverage check).
 You can analyse this case using the value flow monitor transaction:
 - for release 4.7 , transaction CKMVFM
 - for release 4.6C, program SAPRCKM_VERIFY_PRICE_DET (note 324754 is required).
 - for release < 4.6C: Program ZVERIFY_PRICE_DET included in the note 324754 Or directly checking the field CKMLPP-PBPOPO manually.
 In this case, the value field CKMLPP-PBPOPO > cumulative inventory.
 If you still want these price differences to be distributed , you can switch off price limiter logic. Then all price differences are posted to stock, and the price difference account is cleared. You should decide
 for each material if you want to switch off price limiter logic or not.
 So you can achieve a compromise between realistic prices and clearing
 the balance of the price different account.
 Price limiter logic can be switched off in the following way:
Resetting the price limiter quantity:
 In release 4.7 this is done uising transaction CKMVFM.
 In release <= 46C using the ZREMOVE_PRICE_LIMITER (see note 325406).
Note 855387:
 Application of this note will create an additional selection parameter for step 'Single Level Price Determination' to switch on/off price limiter logic.
 This option is the better way, as it is faster provides more flexibility (see the note for more information).
 B) System applied a fallback strategy during price determination
 (see note 579216) to avoid a negative periodic unit price (PUP).
 Please check the attached note 579216:
 If the regularly calculated PUP (based on 'Cumulative Inventory' line) would become negative, the system uses a different strategy to calculate the PUP:
 The PUP is calculated with these priorities:
 1.'Cumulative Inventory' line (no fallback)
 2.Receipts ('ZU') line (Info message C+ 135 in the log)
 3.Beginning inventory ('AB') line (Info message C+ 135 in the log)
 4.PUP-price of previous period (Info message C+ 136 in the log)
 5.S-price (->(Info message C+ 137 in the log)
 The fallback strategy is active by default for Single-Level price determination.
 For multilevel price determination it must be activated with parameter 'Negative price: automatic error management'.
 As a solution, you might check the postings of these materials if they really need to have such big negative price differences or if there is some kind of error in the posting or the production structure
 If you find such errors, you might reverse the corresponding postings and report them in a correct way.
 Or, you might use transaction MR22 (debit/credit material) in order to post a small positive amount of differences to the concerned materials
 so that the resulting actual price would no longer be negative. Then you could perform the period closing (which you had to reverse before).
 In the next period, you might remove this manual posted value from the materials (again with MR22) in order to correct the overall stock values back to their original amounts.
 C) Due to a source code error with transaction CKMM.
 The above situation may be produced because transaction CKMM was executed during the corresponding period.
 When transaction CKMM is processed the system deletes the price differences for the material in the period and these differences are not longer in the period record tables.
 See note 384553 for further details.
 The fact is that the price differences are still visible in CKM3 (as not distributed). This is due to the missing reset of summarization records (MLCD).
 This error is just a problem of CKM3 display, because the differences shown as 'not distributed' do not exist in the periodic records. The PUP of the material is calculated correctly.
 This error is corrected by note 838989 for the future.

Not having a media card in your BlackBerry may affect your ability to transfer media files onto it. There is a file size limit of 2.86MB when transferring files into device memory. http://bbry.lv/9XNuy0
Have you verified that the applications you are trying to install are supported by your current wireless provider? Unlocked devices from one provider may not have full functionality on another network.

After Lion and iWork-update: all fonts are kind of broken

After updating everything: Really had some issues with iTunes and iWork not starting anymore, and didn't update anymore, too.
Worked that out by downloading it directly from Apple's download-website. Everything seemd fine.
But now: every iWork-files seem to be corrupted. All text is unreadable, fonts/characters are chaotic. EVERY iWork file is unsuable!!!!
Strange thing: everything worked out fine with my other Mac.
Any idea? This is a desaster!

After deleting all caches everything works fine again (⌥ ⌘ P R while booting, waiting for second or even thinrd "beep").
The problem only occured on my MBP, not on my iMac. As my MBP became unsualy very hot, too, my guess is: The MBP ha to less time for re-indexing afte the installation of Lion (I almost immediately started working again). Over night there is no heating-up issue anymore. Seems the caches-clearing and enough re-indexing time did it.

Gmail/Exchange email and calendar syncing issues

I have wiped my email accounts several times and entered in my data in the various ways as shown through the forums but my email accounts do no sync properly whether it is manual or active synced.
I read my emails in my gmail and my Microsoft exchange account and will delete or file them away but then when I check my accounts on my desktop, they are not synced as I've done so on my phone. I've also noticed that my calendars are not synced correctly either.
Could someone help me understand why and how these issues can be fixed? I'm in meetings for most of the day so I rely on my phone to keep me mobile. Was this a bad purchase?!?!
