Blending modes bug

I want to report a bug in the program Premiere Pro CC 2014. it first appeared in version CC.
blending modes bug
Compound
Arithmetic
Composite
each time one and the same
Describe a situation in which there is this bug
I apply a preset, any of these effects, or similar so that the clip is mixed with himself blending mode screen. so I very gently increases the brightness of the image.
and sometimes there is a problem. clip is not blended with himself simultaneously. but with some time offset. it turns out that the image becomes lighter, but doubles, blended two different frame.
strict laws, I did not reveal.
but most often the bug occurs when the cut clip already applied effect. or when the effect is applied to the clips that are not on the first track. or when the effect is applied to multiple clips at once.
I found some solution, but it is not very convenient.
if you go to the drop down list with the names of the tracks and re-select the same track, the bug disappears.
for example, we had chosen the "video 1", we once again choose "Video 1" and everything is current, as it should be.
sorry for my english, I am Ukrainian.
and sorry for wedding too)))

Here is another example. guys who have still a problem?

  • BUG: Channel-based blend modes in FW CS5 & CS6

I've observed problems with some of the blend modes in Fireworks CS5 and CS6. Several are definitely broken—most likely a by-product of changes introduced in CS5, which attempted to match some of Photoshop's blend mode behaviors (for Hue, Saturation, Color and Luminosity).
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/logged_in/bbowman_fwcs5.html
The broken blend modes are the channel-based blend modes: Red, Green, and Blue. These have no counterpart in Photoshop, and yet no longer function properly.
To illustrate the problem, I've created a simple test graphic: three white squares, three black squares, three bitmaps, and three colored squares (red, green, and blue).
Now I'll add a black background to the canvas and apply a different channel-based blend mode—Red, Green, and Blue—to each object in its respective group. Here's the correct result, in Fireworks 8:
As you can see, each object appears to be the same color as its applied blend mode. A white rectangle with a Red blend mode becomes red, with a Green blend mode becomes green, and with a Blue blend mode becomes blue.
The way it works is this: The composite image adopts the selected channel of the object and combines it with the remaining channels of the canvas (or objects) below. For example, consider the white rectangle with a Red blend mode. The rectangle's Red channel (R:255) should be combined with the remaining channels of the canvas below (G:0,B:0) to create a composite with the appearance of red (R:255,G:0,B:0).
Now here's the same graphic as it appears in both Fireworks CS5 and CS6:
As you can see, there's no sense to this result. The Red blend mode produces Green, the Green blend mode produces Red, and the Blue blend mode produces invisibility. I simply cannot explain the outcome. These blend modes have been rendered useless and unintelligible in CS5 and CS6.
The reason for my concern here is that, just over a year ago, I wrote a series of command scripts based on these blend modes as they existed Fireworks 8. Without these blend modes, my scripts cannot function.
Assuming there are updates forthcoming for Fireworks CS6, I'm hoping there's a chance that this might still be fixed (if not for CS5, as well). Here's the bug report I've submitted regarding this issue:
    Product name: Fireworks
    Product Version: 11.1.0.205 (CS5.1)/12.0.0.236 (CS6)
    Product Language: English
    Your operating system: OS 10.6.8
    ******BUG******
Concise problem statement: Channel-based blend modes (Red, Green, and Blue) are broken in Fireworks CS6 and CS5.
    Steps to reproduce bug:
    1. Set canvas to black.
    2. Draw 3 white rectangles of any size.
    3. Set blend mode of 1st rectangle to Red, 2nd rectangle to Green, 3rd rectangle to Blue.
Results: 1st rectangle appears Green (instead of Red). 2nd rectangle appears Red (instead of Green). 3rd rectangle becomes invisible (instead of Blue).
Expected results: Each rectangle should appear to be the same color as its applied blend mode, as the composite adopts the selected channel of the object and combines it with the remaining channels of the canvas (or objects) below.
In the preceding example, the black canvas contains no channel information (R:0,G:0,B:0) while the white rectangles contain information in all 3 channels (R:255,G:255,B:255). When a Red blend mode is applied to a white rectangle, the object's Red channel (R:255) should be combined with the remaining channels of the canvas below (G:0,B:0) to create a composite with the appearance of red (R:255,G:0,B:0).
Most likely, this bug was introduced in CS5, which included modifications to Hue, Saturation, Color and Luminosity blend modes (to match Photoshop). For comparison, proper RGB blend mode behavior was observed in Fireworks 8.
For more information about this bug, please see the following post: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1209542

I haven't noticed changes in the way the blend modes work.
It's possible you have a specific problem on your system, or you have an image with a color space that uses a different gamma than you're used to working in.  In the latter case, the math could be the same but if the representation of the colors is changed (which is what the color profile defines) you could get a radically different looking result.
Maybe it would be useful to post some screen grabs, and ideally it would be great if you could post a copy of a PSD file that demonstrates the problem (i.e., looks different when opened in an older version of Photoshop than in Photoshop CS6).
EDIT:  Looks like I was too late in answering; I was distracted after typing and before posting.

  • Wmode transparent and blend mode problem

    Dear all,
I'm stuck with this problem so far, got headache after searching many days on google without solution. Our designer using blend mode: screen (in flash) for some movies and the flash's transparent to save the file size display and then ưe are using html background. All'r working fine for wmode transparent but in Internet Explorer, it's not working to display the blend mode and appear the black background. You can check the image below to see what happen:
Loading the movies within blend mode screen
Transparent's working fine with the normal transparent
Test blend mode with opaque wmode to see how it will display
I've tested with IE7, 8, 9. I'm using window 7 Ultimate, 64bit, Flash player latest version. (And my clients, friends, also got that issues when seeing it with IE).
    My embed code:

We can solve it manually that put the image background into the flash but it's not the good way to do it in our modern web industry.
    Any solution?

dont why i can't submit in the bugbase, it's just hanged out though i submit all the required information T.T
Update: the bug only with IE9. (i concerned IE 7, 8 because i've tested it by IE9 development tool, not real IE 7, 8). Today i've tried testing with real IE7, 8 and it's working fine.

  • Blending modes help?

Hi, I loaded a picture up and placed a white square with opacity "10%" to act as a "watermark". I merged it down and duplicated that square with the same opacity. Then I changed the second square to "subtract". They should cancel eachother out and I should be left with the original image, correct? But the result is a grayish/desaturated square. No values reached 255, so there shouldn't be any data loss. Can someone explain this? And how would I go about cancelling out the first square I made if this is not how to do it?

It's the best solution so far, as it seems to be the closest to cancelling out the square. But it's nothing I haven't tried already. I've tried every blending mode on the second layer with both white and black squares. They all leave a desaturated (not completely desaturated, but less than the original) looking artifact.
I just tried with an even simpler set up. I opened a 10x10 document, and filled it with the color (123,164,93). then i added a new layer of white, turned opacity to 20% and merged. Then I added another layer of white, turned the opacity to 20%, selected "subtract", and merged. The final image should be a 10x10 square that's (123,164, 93) but instead it's (119, 146, 100). And I just checked and that doesn't even return the same brightness value.
I tried different blending modes for the second layer and even tried putting the first white layer on "linear dodge (add)" thiking "well, since add is the opposite of subtract, it should work". Still, I never get the original color.
Is this a bug in just my software??? Have you tried doing this experiment yourself and it works on your end??? Is there a setting somewhere that I can adjust that should be adjusted??? Or is this a bug or issue that Adobe hasn't worked out? Maybe they need another blending mode called "super simple subtract"?? lol please help because I think this should be sooo freakin easy. The programming for it would childsplay! R - R, G - G, B - B... that's how "subtract" should work

  • Why is a layer blending mode result altered by adding and effect?

I've done a search online and haven't come up with an answer but does anyone
know why a layers blending mode result is altered by adding an effect?
I am using CS3 on a PC (Windows XP SP2) and have two layers; one a Tiff and
a second a text layer with an ambient light and a spot shining on them. Both
layers have 3D turned on and accept lights and are in the same position in
    space.
To make the text, which is coloured black, sit better I changed the layers
blend mode to soft light which works well.
I wanted to soften the edge of the text a little so I added a Fast Blur
effect and suddenly the result of the blend was completely different. If I
turn off the effect it goes back to what it was before but even if the Fast
Blur is set to zero, ie no blur on the layer, the blend result is altered.
Does anyone know what's going on?

Many thanks for that. I tried the Box Blur but it too shifted the result of <br />the blend. In the end, to get this job out of the door, I changed the colour <br />of the text to orange, lowered the opacity and used Multiply as the layer <br />blend mode. Adding the Fast Blur effect to this didn't shift the result of <br />the blend mode. It's not as sexy a look as using Soft Light but it works.<br /><br />I wonder if it's something going on with the maths or this a real bug?<br /><br /><br /><[email protected]> wrote in message <br />news:[email protected]..<br />> Presumably a bug that uses the blur's convolution kernel when it <br />> shoulddn't. Adding support for FXG 2.0 additional blend modes that do not have a SWF equivalent. For the optimized FXG case, we now generate an ActionScript SymbolClass and set the corresponding blend shader. This requires checking in the additional shader classes and PBJ files, but note we do not yet use them in MXML graphics.
Note: This change does not address luminosity masks.

  • Changing blend mode changes behavior

I'm trying to have words grow from very small to "swallow up" the screen—all while using them as stencils through which we see water. With me so far? Anyway, the motion is perfect when the blend mode is on normal, but when I simply change the blend mode to Stencil Alpha, at a certain point, it starts moving sharply to the right. All I've done is change blending modes, honest.
Who knows what the h-e-double hockey sticks this is, and, how to fix it? This is maddening.

    Heya,
This is just a guess, as I haven't seen your project, but I think the text is sliding because it is too large for your GPU, so it's getting cropped and recentered.
Why is it happening when you change the blend mode? Good question. I think it's because picking any blend mode but 'Normal' is causing a pre-comp, and since your GPU's size limit is being exceeded, it's cropping (and recentering) the result. Or maybe it's a bug.
Here's a workaround to try: nest the text in its own layer, enable Fixed Resolution for the layer (found in the Layer tab in the Inspector, when the layer is selected), and then change the blend mode of the layer to whatever you want.
Seriously, though, you really should be using (as Patrick suggested) the Image Mask tool, instead of the Stencil Alpha blend mode. Free yourself from the AE-style blend mode tyranny! Vive la image mask!
    (good luck)

  • Blend Mode Selection in Photoshop minor difference between platforms

Guys you REALLY need to do something about this asap. I don't know if it's a mac/pc problem or if it's a CS6 problem. I have been working with photoshop on PC for the past 9 years or so. I recently had to switch to CS6 on Mac.
I can no longer place my cursor in the blend modes field and use arrow keys to quickly toggle through them to find the ideal mode. I used to be able to preview 15 blend modes in just 5-6 seconds and land on the ideal mode... and get on with my project. NOW i have to click this button and click again on each blend mode... lengthening my process by up to 2 minutes. This is an ENORMOUS problem for me as choosing blend modes is critical in my day to day design work.
See the menu right next to it where you can type in the opacity? I can put my cursor in there and use arrow keys to adjust values. Blend mode NEEDS to work this way too. And this is on a mac. You simply HAVE to do something here. productivity impacted severely.
Also.. this problem exists in After Effects CS5 on pc. Let's get it fixed there too. I will hand-write you a letter of praise and send flowers if you can do this.

That could be because some readers are blinded by the white background and shiny badge of MVP and Staff posts.
If not, then it's strange that nobody is interested in working out why the OP has the problem or how to restore correct behaviour to his/her installation.
I can tell you the rationale behind my post, if it helps. The original poster's real goal was to "...preview 15 blend modes in just 5-6 seconds and land on the ideal mode... and get on with my project."
On my Mac, I can certainly click in the menu and use the arrow key to go up and down, as conroy said. But what that does not do is apply the blend mode, unless I also press Return. But pressing Return kicks you out of the menu so you have to start the click/arrow/Enter cycle again, which is a long way just to try the next blend mode. So while the superficial reading of the problem says "I can arrow key through the menu, problem solved," it doesn't solve the real goal of "preview 15 blend modes in just 5-6 seconds."
But Shift+ can, because it saves so many steps over click/arrow/Enter (and because the native OS X pop-up can't do any better). So Shift+ was a more appropriate solution, and the original poster already said it solves their problem.
If you read the original post, I think what is really going on is a Windows/Mac switcher issue, not an unfixed bug. Windows and Mac pop-up menus work very differently. In Windows, you can enter text into a drop-down list directly and up/down arrow through the list without the menu actually popping up. (For a Mac example, see the Type tool Font and Size menus in the Options bar in Photoshop, which I assume are custom-coded. Compare to the Font and Size menus in Apple Pages or Keynote.) He switches to Mac Photoshop, and Blend Modes menu doesn't work that way. It might never work that way, because native Mac pop-up menus are much more mouse-oriented.
Now, if there is a verifiable bug in the menu, Adobe should fix it. You might want to make sure it's listed at the Photoshop Feedback site, and add it if it isn't there.

  • Can I make custom blend modes with Pixel Bender 3d?

So it seems PixelBender does not work in GPU mode, which is essential in iOS.
I want to create a custom blend mode for adobe air in iOS and was wondering if it is possible with Pixel Bender 3d.

for the mesh, hexagon is actually better than photoshop. Since it can create the actual mesh. Though, you can import the mesh into photoshop so you can see it while you paint the texture.
The 3d creation portion of photoshop is still a bit limiting. (But my experience stops with CS5. I have not tried CS6 yet, so impovement could have been made)
The issue I have with hexagon is the amount of bugs in it. I prefer a more robust and more expensive alternative. But thats me
A free alternative is Blender. But I find the UI a bit outdated and hard to grasp. But again, thats me.
Generate your UV maps as you normally would then load them into photoshop and get painting. You may like other texture generating apps to go along with photoshop. Genetica is great for making tileable textures.

  • Blend modes in "stroke"-layer styles not working ?

Hi. Anybody else got problems with the the blend modes in the "stroke" layer style, or am I doing something wrong?
right click on layer > blending options > stroke > blend mode
    (position=inside)
I want to use "fill type"="gradient", but the blend modes do not even work with "fill type"=color. For both fill modes, the stroke does not let any pixels of the layer shine through, no matter what blend mode I choose.
I often use blend modes, for example "darken", etc. I know how they work, but somehow for the stroke layer style it seems not to work at all.
I know, it's pretty basic, but I have spent several hours on that and simply don't succeed. Thanks for any help.

As there's only a single sentence refering to the stroke layer style in the CS3 manual, I'd also be thankful for an Adobe comment, clarifying whether this is a bug or not and if it will be improved.

  • Photoshop Help Video - Can't Locate Katrin Eismann Blending Modes Video

I bookmarked a Katrin Eismann video on blending modes on May 7, 2010. I am trying to locate that video now, so far without success.
    Here's the former link: http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/video_workshop/?id=vid0012
As I recall, she showed a great example of how to isolate just a portion of a night time scene. As best I recall, the trees were colorful while everything else was black and white.
I have been hunting for a while without success. I believe it used to be associated with the help file. In fact it still is. If you search on Adobe's help for "blending modes" your first link is likely:
    Photoshop Help | Blending modes
And as you work your way though the discussion, you find this:
These examples show the result of painting part of the image’s face using each blending mode.
For a video on blending modes, see www.adobe.com/go/vid0012.
Does anyone know how I can locate this video?

This same non-existent link is still listed on various Adobe web pages, but alas, the page with the video no longer exists. This is obviously an error on the part of the (huge) Adobe website.

  • Smart Object and blend mode issue

I have an object that I moved from another image and needed to resize. The object is an image of a bottle and glass, with both the bottle and glass having reflections from their base. They both also have some layer masks with the reflections. I grouped the glass and bottle and created a smat object before the move to the new file). Anyway everything worked fine, except the reflections are much stonger in the new file (they are sitting over the same colored backgrond as in the original. If I open up the smart object and put a background behind the images  and the reflections (background is transparent)everthing looks as they should. The reflections have a blend mode of multiply).
So why does the smart object not render the reflections properly (without lowering the opacity more within the smart object group) they appear almost at 100% in the new file. Any suggestions?
Can't post the files as this happened at work.

  • How to change blending mode on multiple layers at the same time

I'm using CS5. I have a document with about 70 layers. I would like to change the blending mode to "lighten" for each layer. Is there an easy way to do this?

Photoshop doesn't allow multiple layer editing. That's why the styles are grayed out. Only 1 layer at a time.
What version are you talking about?
CS5 definitely let’s one apply a Style to multiple Layers.
rfcommagere, I don’t know how to make it much clearer:
    • set the Blending Mode on one Layer
    • with that Layer selected create a Style with »Include Layer Blending Options« checked
    • select all other Layers that should have that Blending Mode
    • click the Style in the Styles Panel

  • Is there a way to get the result of using multiple blending modes in one object?

    Hello,
I wonder if there's a way to merge multiple objects with blending modes to one object. Here is the example:
On the left rhere are three objects with the same appearence but different blending modes(color dodge, normal, overlay), on the right they are overlapped, which are still three object. I'm looking for the way to have the same result as the right overlapped one, but as one object. Having the same multiple objects only for the result of color blending mode uses too much memory for my computer.
Thank you for your help in advance.

create one object: then in your appearance panel, duplicate the fill twice. Select the top fill and expand the sub menu, click on opacity, choose blending mode. repeat.
