Block Filter Summary

Hi,
I understand that I am able to use the =ReportFilterSummary() function to capture any filters applied in a report, and in doing so, I can parse this to retrieve which filters are applied on specific blocks.
But, is there a more straightforward way to do this?
(i.e. Is there any route I can take that would be similar to using a BlockFilterSummary() function if it were to exist?)
The end goal here is to capture whatever filters are applied to a block without having to parse the Report Filter Summary.

Yes, I do have the songs with the m3u file.
I tried your solution and it worked. It's not as simple as using an m3u file, but I'll take what I can get. Hurrah, my road trip and other playlists can be updated without gnashing of teeth!

Block / Filter html in email, specifically URLs

Exchange 2010 in a Windows 2008 R2 domain.
I'm trying to find a way to block any html url from being link enabled in email. For instance, if I type www.bing.com in an email it link enables it by default and makes it clickable by the recipient.
I need to either filter the entire url or change it to plain text so it's not link enabled and clickable.
The endstate here is we're trying to reduce the possibility of a user clicking on a link in a rogue phishing email. At the very least we want the user to have to copy and paste the plain text url into a browser in the hopes that will reduce the phishing
success.
Any ideas?

Based on my knowledge, I'm afraid that we can't block the messages with link from server side. But we can use Outlook to do that. Suspicious message detection is always turned on in Microsoft Outlook.

BEx - empty value(#) in navigation Block (filter)

Hello experts,
i have navigation attribute in navigation block (query). It means that data in filter are read directly from master.
This nav. attribute has 2 compounded IOs.
i can see value in filter as below.
#/#/001
#/#/002
#/#/003
1/2/004
2/3/005
The values #/#/001, #/#/002, ... are stored in master data table. I would like to see only rows where fields are filled (1/2/004, 2/3/005, ...).
Do you have any idea ?
Maybe it's possible to supress these values in Info Object - folder "Master Data" - "Master Data Access" - "Own Implementation" - class

Nav Block Filter Affected but not in Expand/Collapse

Hi,
Does anybody know if is possible to setup a Nav.Block to affect two queries (Dataproviders) only with FILTER option. This mean: When we choose expand/collapse, affect only one of these Dataproviders.
We have two Nav.Block and Two Tables. When we choose a filter in one Nav.Block, and this characteristic exist in both tables, the filter act (It´s Ok). But when we collapse the same characteristic, we don´t want to collapse in both tables.

Webi report looses merge dimension and block filter during Universe Change

Hi All,
I have come across a weird behavior in BOXI 3.1 SP3. Please find below the details for the same:
1. I have a report which has a varible built on formula using a merged dimension.
2. When i migrate the report from development to acceptance environment and change the universe from report properties, formula using merged dimension object gets corrupt.
3. Same issue is available with block level filter also.
Please let me know if there is a solution for this and this looks to be a bug in the BOXI tool.

I am not sure what you mean by changing the universe from report properties. Do you mean that you edit the report and go to the Query Panel and change the universe from there?
If this is your workflow, then this is not a product defect. You will have to revalidate your formulas. As the Merged dimensions will be recreated.
Normally when migrating from one test to dev and dev to Prod, the only change should be the connection that points to the correct database. The connection of your universe should be the only thing that change.
Please note that the connection name remane the same. But you edit the connection and change the database to which your universe is pointing to.
Provided that the tables name and columns name are identical between your different environment, there should not be any issue.

Best-fitting glare-blocking filter?

I hate the glare on my iMac and bought a 3M filter to deal with it (model af100xxl). I found it on ebay for $30 or so, and it works wonderfully; trouble is, it doesn't quite fit, though it was billed as covering 20" screens. I lose about a half-inch on either side of hte monitor, and just a millimeter or two on the top.
I can deal, but would like to do better. Has anyone found a third-party screen filter that fits the 20" imac perfectly? Bonus points if it looks good. Mine is purely functional and the off-white-plastic frame really kills the look of the (beautiful) machine.

Sorry, I didn't realize that you'd asked me a question. If it's still relevant, I find that the anti-glare screens work quite well. There's a big market for them: google 3M and AF100XXL if you want to see the one I use, which is moderately priced. (I got mine used.) They vary in price and size.
They hang over the screen, and there's a gap between the iMac screen and the anti-glare screen, but that doesn't affect usability. It eliminated eyestrain for me.
The photodon sheets, or so I've read, make the images on the screen look weird: You see individual pixels, or something like that. The only drawback for the screen I use is fit (and style). I'm losing a fraction of an inch on the left, right, and top.

How can I block / filter to protect kids when searching?

When searching images (google or any) with kids for school projects we often get nude, crude, lewd, etc. - what settings can we adjust to keep that type (and other porno type things) out of the results?

How to reference a column value in a particular block.

I am having problem in referencing a column in a particular Block in WEBi report.
Scenario: I have only one query in the query panel and i am creating a sample report having different blocks.
               Now there are four blocks in my report,
               1st Block: It it a table with two columns [country name], [Turn over]. Now this is converted into pie chart.
               2nd Block: It is the same table as above but it is linked with the block 1 so that whenever i clicked on a particular company name
                               in the pie-chart then this block will be showing only the company name and its turn over for that particular company.
               3rd Block: It is also the same table as above having same columns but it is showing top five company names and their turn over value.
                               I used ranking function through a variable for impelmenting this.
               4th Block: It is a table having columns [Company Code], [Company Name], [Turn over], [Company Address].
Problem: Now i want to show hide 4th block when the [company name] value in 2nd block lies in the list of top 5 companies in 3rd block or else 4th block
               will show the table having complete info of the particular company which has been clicked in the pie-chart and 2nd block will be showing the
                comapny name and its turn over value.
Please help me with this problem as soon as possible, i am learning WEBi tool and now i am stuck with this use case.

Thank you for providing an example, from the example try the steps from 3rd block to reach your requirement
1st block: Let's say i clicked on country name- ITALY in the pie chart.
2nd block: Now the second block will be showing ITALY in column [country name] and its turnover in [Turn Over] column
3rd block: This block is showing the names of top 5 countries in column [country name] on the basis of their turnover and their corresponding turnover in column [Turn Over].
Here on 3rd block you have to place logic for ranking
1. Create a report level variable of type Dimension with name "Ranking"
Ex:
=NoFilter((Rank([Turn Over];[Country name];Top)))
2. Add a block filter as:[Ranking]Less than or equal to 5 , to show top 5 countries
3. Create a new Dimension Variable with name(As you like) "Show" with the below definition
=If([Ranking]>5;1;0)
4. Add the Variable Dimensions created [Ranking], [Show] objects to2nd block
* Right click on [Show] column and choose "Hide" ->"Hide dimension", this will hide [Show] column from the table.
* Select 2nd block right click, select 'Format Table'->Select the check box "Hide when following formula is true" and define a condition as
=([Show]=1)
5. On 4th block add Variable dimension objects created [Ranking], [Show]
* Right click on [Show] column and choose "Hide" ->"Hide dimension", this will hide [Show] column from the table.
* Select 2nd block right click, select 'Format Table'->Select the check box "Hide when following formula is true" and define a condition as
=([Show]=0)
With this when rank of a country greater than 5 then block 3 will be displayed, otherwise block 4 will be displayed.

How to add a filter/selection into the report title?

Hi experts,
Currently I try to fugure out how to set up a field into the page header (title) of a report in order to dynamically adapt the title to selected filter criteria. I tried to use the Reprot Filter Summary, but since I do have several sheets in my reports the information given through it is not applicable.
What I would like to achieve is that the end user can select e.g. a category X and Y and the title says: "Report title - categories: X,Y" Somthg like this. I'd appreciate any tips.

I would like t achieve that the filtered criteria in the report title is separated through a comma like in the report filter summary - e.g.: {001, 002, 003, 004} followed by just 1chart/table that is including the whole information.
When I however just drag a variable into the report it automatically created different sections, right? Like ........ table, chart, whatever... .......table chart whatever........

Pass filter value to a column

Hi all,
I am using oracle bi ee 11g. I am planning to create a report which contains two columns namely "ACTUAL" and "BUDGET"
ACTUAL:

above mentioned is the format of the report Person Number Column values contains a hyperlink to a another environment and if the user click on COUNT column it navigates to a seperate report and it should pass Person Number and type as filters i am able to pass type but not Person Number since it is in HTML format if we change that to general format the hyperlink doesn't work so i need to keep that in HTML format and i need pass that as filter to next report.

How to hide some column filter operators in Interactive Report

Hi,
I have an APEX 4.2 application what includes Interactive Report page.
Is there possibilty to hide or disable some filter operators in column filter?
But I don't want to disable all filter functionality for end users.
For example how to hide/disable operator "matches regular expression".
Some filter operators are too complicated for end users.
I have searhced but not found solution.

I wouldn't really recommend this. Users will quickly recognise what works for them and avoid options that they do not currently understand. However, over time—through training or advice from more experienced users—they may come to understand and use all of the available features. Blocking access (especially in a non-standard way) to options that users may eventually need is likely to result in unnecessary development work now and at some (possibly inconvenient) time in the future.
That said, this really isn't difficult to implement using CSS. Use your browser web inspector to identify which filter types are to be blocked, using the value attribute of the filter Operator select list in the generated IR HTML. For example, in APEX 5.0 a filter operator select list looks like:

Additional selectors for other filter types can be added to this rule as required, for example:

to eliminate the "is not null" filter.
To implement this for all IRs in your application, create a custom CSS style sheet containing the rule, upload it to your workspace, and reference it in all of the page templates used for IR pages.
This is not a 100% foolproof solution. CSS is not an appropriate way to implement security restrictions. A web-savvy user could use their web inspector to disable the CSS rule and access the blocked filter(s). However there is little risk here as (1) it appears that your users will lack the required expertise; and (2) doing so will only allow them to further filter data they already have access to.
