Blocking specific IP address' for iWeb made website

Hi,
I want to block IP address' that I don't want to access my website for security reasons. How do I do this? Is there any script I could use in the HTML snippet?

Use .htaccess IP restriction by creating an .htaccess file with the following code:
ErrorDocument 403 http://www.example.com/403.html
Order Deny,Allow
Deny from 127.0.0.1
Deny from 127.0.0.2
Deny from 127.0.0.3
Allow from all
Enter the IP addresses you'd like restricted and place the saved .htaccess file in the directory on your server that you'd like restricted based on those IP addresses. Add additional lines for Deny from if you want multiple IP addresses restricted.
Creating an .htaccess file may be a little tricky for inexperienced users. On OSX you can use Terminal to enable Finder to display hidden files and then rename htaccess.txt to .htaccess locally before upload. Alternatively you can upload htaccess.txt to your server and rename it to .htaccess on your host after it's uploaded.

  • What are correct FireFox preference settings so don't have to always provide email address for a certain website?

Ever since upgrading to OS Mountain Lion I have to provide my email address for a particular website if my Mac has been restarted, even though I indicate on the website that I want to stay signed in to the website for two weeks at a time. When I had OS Snow Leopard, at this website I did not have to input my email address more often than every 2 weeks, no matter how often my computer was restarted.
What settings in FireFox preferences should I input so I don't have to input my email address at this website every time my computer is restarted?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

  • Best FTP for iWeb produced websites after Mobile Me?

best FTP for iWeb produced websites after Mobile Me?

If you're asking about an FTP client there are several very good FTP clients.  YummyFTP and Transmit are two commercial clients that provide two finder like windows of your local website folder and the online site folder.  That makes it very easy to drag and drop or do automatic syncs.
Cyberduck is a free FTP client and provides a Finder like window to the online folder.  You can open the local Finder window for the web site for dropping and dragging. It will also do an automatic sync.
As for hosting sites IMO the two best are HostExcellence.com and ixwebhosting.  They are owned by the same company and operate essentially the same.  The only difference is that HostExcellence has a free customer support phone line for customers outside the US. Both offer excellent ear to ear customer support.

  • Print every email containing a specific email address for a court case

I need to print a hard copy of every email I've sent or received that contains a specific email address for legal records. Is there a function that will make this less tedious than doing searches and printing them one by one?

I think you should be able to do that with a filter.
run a search and copy all the relevant emails into a local folder for the purpose.
Use a filter and set the criteria as subject does not 0contain something like &&&&&**# that is about as improbable as a subject as a Martian in your room and select the action to print.
Now run the filter on the appropriate folder and wait for your printer to catch up.
Note I have had issues in the past with Windows printing just not keeping up with hundreds of print requests in a few seconds, but that was printing to PDF from Excel

  • How to Block Specific IP Address (YouTube)

This is a follow-up question to one I posted earlier this week. I want to block YouTube (and a handful of other sites) from my stepson's new iMac and it was suggested I try/use Leopard's "Parental Control" feature.
I tried that, but the problem is, when he attempts to visit the site, a warning page pops up informing him Parental Controls have blocked the site, then gives him the option to log in as the administrator or to email the admin for access...and that's pretty much the worst thing that could happen. He has serious Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and it HUGELY upsets him that he can't guess the Admin password.
Soooooo...can anyone suggest an alternative means of blocking a specific IP address that does so WITHOUT serving up a "Contact the Administrator" message? Someone has suggested blocking the IP address via the network router, but I haven't a clue how to do that.
    Any help?
    Thanks.

Something else you might look at to see if it is suitable for you is to use the DNS servers from www.opendns.com (on your router for example) and set up an account on there, then exclude the sites you don't want accessed - either by the names of the sites OR by the category of site they are.
What that does is NOT actually "blocking the site" as such, what it does is when the workstation wants to resolve the hostname into an IP address, OpenDNS will fail the request. The user will see a browser page from OpenDNS saying that the site was blocked by the network administrator - you can change the wording and even add an icon if you like.
If the user doesn't have admin access to the workstation (whereby they could change the DNS server locally to your ISP's normal DNS, which presumably doesn't offer this sort of lookup-filtering) and they don't know the IP address(es) of the sites they want to access - obviously if the workstation doesn't have to go to a DNS to look the address up, it doesn't matter whether the DNS is blocking the lookup for you - this works well.
There's more information on www.opendns.com - as I said maybe it won't be appropriate for you, but if it is, it's pretty easy to set up and to administer.

    Hey Bishnu,
Check the authorisation group through transaction code - SU24. You can provide the transaction code FS00 there to find out the respective authorisation object.

  • Seeking simplest replacement for iWeb family website

OK, with MobileMe about to bite the dust I am seeking the simplest, free (or lowest cost) replacement for iWeb that offers the following:
    1. Ability to create web pages for major family events (wedding, births, etc.).
    2. Ability to use our purchased domain name to name the site.
    3. Ability to link to our genealogy site and other web info.
    4. Tight integration with iPhones - to import new photos and pages.
Basically, our website is an online scrapbook. I don't really want a blog to tell the world about all our recent activities; I just want a place that mainly offers photo albums and maybe some written content. I'm not interested in Facebook because I want to be able to have the site separate from Facebook.
    Suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I can't see why anybody would want to pay this (or any) amount for a simple transfer. In any case, nearly all the files in a MobileMe account should be first downloaded to your Mac since most of us used it for more than just website hosting.
Unless you have a very basic site, you will have folders of assets outside of the main website folder. These need to be uploaded to the root folder on the new server and the URLs to them need to be changed in iWeb. Anybody who doesn't take the time to learn basic FTP and the server file structure is going to have even more problems with this part of the operation!
The actual files produced by iWeb don't need to be moved anyway since its just a question of publishing to the new hosting account using one of the methods shown here...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/Publish-Website.html
The first two companies mentioned on this page will move the files for free for new customers...

  • IWeb-made website posted to Google Page Creator

I've got a website that was made in iWeb and I want to upload it to Google Page Creator as a non-homepage subpage. My problem is that when I publish the iWeb page to a folder, it creates subfolders for the graphics and extras. GPC doesn't support folders, so when I upload the page, it is missing its pictures, since the iWeb page is referencing the subfolder. I was told on GPC support forum that I have to specify in iWeb for the pictures to be referenced to the root directory of the page. Then I would be able to upload the page and all the pictures, and the page would still load correctly. How do I get iWeb to reference the pictures in the same directory as the page....or how do I get iWeb to output the page without the subfolder?

Thank you for your suggestion. I eventually hacked out a fix by editing the html code produced by iWeb like you suggested. I changed all subfolder references to point to the same directory the html file was in, then I moved (and in some cases renamed - both in finder and in the code) the files in the subfolders up to the html root folder. After uploading, everything looks and works fine. Except for one issue with IE6, which I have started another thread for. If you would like to help out with that issue as well, I would be extremely grateful! It's located here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1359321&tstart=0

  • Keynote as movie on iweb made website?

    Hello,
I am new to this.... can I make a keynote presentation and then save it as a a movie and put it on my website (made from iweb) so that whenever someone goes to the website the movie will play?..with music too? In a fairly large screen/format?
I would like it to be automatic, not a "click here to play movie" kind of thing.
    Thanks!

  • How do I block specific email addresses?

I am receiving spam that is offensive and unwanted. I want to block the sender's address.

Firefox doesn't do email, it's strictly a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.
If your problem is with Mozilla Thunderbird, let us know and we can move this thread to the Thunderbird queue. This question currently is in the Firefox queue for answers.

  • How do I choose a specific email address for a person in a group?

I want to create a group in my address book. Several of the people in the group have 3 or more email addresses. How do I specify which email for a person is used when I send an email to the group?

Create the group. Drag in the folks you want to include in the group. Right click on the group and choose "Edit Distribution List" and a window will pop up showing which addresses are selected in bold, and those that are not selected in plain text. Just click on the emails you want to use and it switches the selected address.

  • WRT610N - Reserving a specific IP address for a given MAC address

This is the first router that doesn't allow this. I have to set up a computer to get an address using DHCP then I need to use that IP address and related info to set up a static IP address. That's just plain dumb. Then if I take a laptop to another location, I have to fiddle with setting up for DHCP again. Then When I come home, I have to reset all the settings on the laptop to do the static IP thing. If you move the computer around a lot, that's a lot of unnecessary fiddling.
Why not just have the router keep a table of MAC address and the IP address assigned for those computers. It would be a lot easier to configure the router once than reconfigure a compter a whole bunch of time. It's not rocket science or brain surgery. A lot of other routers do this and allow the user to set up reserved addresses

You may have stumbled over a known bug!
What you want to do is click on [DHCP Reservation] on the Basic Setup page and assign the Ip address based on the MAC of the connecting device.
But there is a bug!  The JavaScript code generated in DHCP_Static.asp puts an extra space in a few Array definitions which result your browser not properly rendering the HTML code.  So you get a window that is intended to allow you to manage the Ip assignment based on MAC, but the page is BROKEN.
(Right click on the page a select "View Source" from the context menu and you'll see something like this.)
    ===================================
     | (Note:  angle brackets replace with square brackets to prevent errors in the forum post.)
    | [script language="JavaScript"]
    | document.title = adbutton.dhcpres;
    | var statics_table = new Array(
    |     'Dummy1','00:01:02:03:AA:FF','101'
    | ,'Computer2','00:55:FF:ED:04:99','102'
    | ,'Roku','00:0E:44:55:66:77','110'

    | );
    ===================================
I believe that blank line between the last entry and the final ");" is causing the problem.  At least in every browser I've tried, a JavaScript error is generated at that point with:            Message: Expected ')'
My guess is the router work fine.  But since your only way to communicate with the router is via a web page that is broken, you can't make the changes you want to make!
I was told by Tech Support that they know of this issue and are working on a fix.  I was also told....
:: Since the problem you have is regarding the DHCP Reservation, we will escalate
:: this case to the Case Management Team Irvine.
    and...
:: We will escalate this concern to the Headquarter and a Senior Technician would contact you within 48 hours.
We'll see... I'm not holding my breath.

  • I need to change the MAC Address for Airport on MacBook

I have a specific need to change my son's Airport MAC address as his school requires the use of USB network cards that aren't compatible with MACs. These cards are needed because the school's router uses MAC address filtering.
Before we upgraded his Mac to Snow Leopard, we were able to change the MAC address to the MAC address of the useless dongal the school supplied. We basically created an AppleScript program that ran the "sudo ifconfig en1 ether xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx" and all was good.
This command no longer works for changing the MAC address. We tried it as root user as well and by typing it into the terminal window as root. After running the command, we can run "ifconfig en1" and it does display the new mac address but when we turn the airport on and try to connect, it just hangs and won't connect.
Our other non-Snow Leopard still works fine after running the commands so I'm guessing Apple disabled this functionality. It's hardly a security issue by being able to change your mac addres.
Is there a new way to accomplish this? I've searched everywhere.
    Thanks!

Would an easier solution be to provide the school's IT admin with your mac address and have it added? If they can add a block of mac addresses for the usb dongles, they can add more for machines that cannot use the dongle.
Also: "It's hardly a security issue by being able to change your mac address."
While it may not be a security issue for your machine, it is a security for the school network who is using mac address filtering as hopefully only one part of their wireless security.
That being said, have you read this?

  • Can I block an email address from sending me iMessages?

I am receiving harassing iMessages from an unknown person. I can turn off iMessage, but then I can't use it with my family. Is there a way to block specific email addresses?

No, there is no such way.  Sorry.  One thing you might consider doing is changing Settings > Messages > Send & Receive to eliminate the specific address receiving the bad messages.  For example, if you're getting them at your phone number, change to only have your Apple ID there.

  • Caution:buying themes for iWeb in MAS can be a problem

A few weeks ago I bought Themes for iWeb, and it just didn't work. I asked for help from the developers, but then the changes totally destroyed iWeb and my site.
I now notice another themes for iweb on the Mac App Store and all the reviews say it not only doesn't work, it does the same thing for iweb in Lion. Read all the reviews and the warning from Apple to get a feel for problems that can arise.
I don't blame developers, other than for the fact they should have tested it out. I suspect that last update from Apple for iWeb made it functional in Lion, but without its code, no themes will be working.
Now, I love iWeb, but seeing the handwriting and all, am moving to another website creator. Considering how much trouble I had with the destruction of my site, I want to warn off people from buying any themes package that doesn't clearly say it has been tested in Lion.
    Hugh

I just reinstalled iweb and the updates. Actually, it may be a blessing as it will force me to redo the site and check every link. In the last year a few just don't work anymore.
I find that I can copy and paste pretty well from the site still on the web, and use the old video from YouTube.
Some stuff is gone, but all in all, it was an interesting lesson.
I got cocky because I knew the trick of making sure I duplicated and saved the domainsites file.
I know I had at least one sitesfile that was original and perfect, but didn't work.
    Oh well.
I really do like iweb. Now I think I will not be the first to download software again.
In fairness, while the software didn't work, I did play around in the application support, iweb, themes section a lot more than I should have.
