Blue boxes w/ links in IE

I have linked social media icons to their respective pages, but they appear differently in different browsers:
- IE: a blue border surrounds the icons
- Firefox: a white border surrounds the icons **this is how it is supposed to appear
- Safari: no border around the icons
The only thing that bothers me is the blue border in IE. Is there anything I can do to change this?
Here is the code for the page:

  • Blue box around link wont go away

Im using DW cs3 and trying to redo a website. I have
everything in place, but when I add a link to an animated gif in
center of my page, it adds a blue border around the image. How can
    I turn this off?
I have a nav column on left side of page will rollover
effects and there is no blue box around those images.
If thats not bad enough, I also have an animated gif above my
nav column, and when I add a link to it, It gets a blue box as well
and expands my nav table. I havent experienced this with older DW.
Any ideas on what Im doing or not doing right?
*****Disregard. Finally figured out you have to put a 0 in
for border. I dont remember ever having to put that in before. I
    may just be getting old.

  • Blue box around linked picture

I am trying to link some pictures on my homepage to other
pages in my site and when I link them, a blue box appears around
the picture. When I preview it in my browser, it gives me the
impression it is like a rollover or visited link. It turns the
default purple if I have clicked on it previously. I have changed
the page properties to make the link colors white, but that does
not help. Any suggestions or ideas??
    Thanks!

Add this to your CSS -
    a img { border:none; }

  • How do I get rid of blue boxes surrounding links?

Viewing .pdf files in Reader on my Android tablet, all my links are shown in a light blue field.  This looks terrible and does not happen when I view them in other .pdf readers.
How can I get rid of these???
    Thanks!

I don't think you can change the text box field properties using Reader; you would need an Acrobat type of app.  The blue field box lets you know there is an active hyperlink and not just blue print that is underlined.  If you open the same pdf in another pdf viewer you probably see the url with a blue underline but it isn't active.  Kind of frustrating to see a blue underlined url and it doesn't work when you want to jump to it.  In Adobe Reader, the light blue field box lets you know the link is active and not just blue print that is underlined.  If you want to be able to follow the link you won't be able to in other readers.  It's also handy to be able to identify the active links to more easily avoid making an accidental jump.  The hyper-link field boxes are not always blue - in a colored background they might look like shadows.  The colored field box should not show when you print the doc or when you view on other than mobile devices.

  • How do I get firefox to stop displaying blue boxes around my linked images?

I am talking about Firefox 3.5 on mac.
I was wondering if there was some way of turning off link highlighting on my website in Dreamweaver or if there is some kind of code I have to enter.
What happens is that i have images with hyperlinks and firefox puts blue boxes around them and it is ugly.
Safari works perfectly so its not me.

The answer to this question, Getting rid of blue borders around links is in the Dreamweaver FAQ.

  • Blue box around image link

I seem to get this obnoxious blue box around all image links
I create in Dreamweaver cs3. Has anyone experienced this and if so
how do I get rid of that bugger

    >I am very new to this, but the way I got round this
    problem was to add
    >border="0" after the height="xx" for that image.
That'll work but it requires border="0" to be individually
    added to every
single <img> which is a link in every single page on
    your site.
The method suggested by Alec is created just the once and
    applies
automatically to every single <img> which is a link on
    every page both now
and into the future i.e. nil maintenance.
    I know which I prefer :-)

  • How Do I get rid of a blue box around my picture "links"

    Hi,
I had troubles finding out how to make a menu bar, so I went: insert>image objects> Image Placeholder, I uploaded a button I made at a website.. the image works fine, but somehow I have a blue bar around the image... How do i solve this? Also, how do you insert an interactive image (a button that links to another page on my website?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    In your CSS add:
    a img {
        border: none;
and the blue box will go away.
Did you read that post yet?  The purple is just the default color for a visited link, but that code in your CSS will remove all borders from the images with links.

  • Safari broken image link question mark in a blue box icon

The url I get the safari broken image link question mark in a blue box icon most often is "apple.com/startpage/". There may be 10 or 12 of them. However, most apple.com pages have at least 1. In fact I am looking at 1 right now. I have emptied the cache. I do not wish to reset Safari because I do not want to reenter all of the passwords to various sites. Is there a simple answer?

If you don't have another account you can use System Preferences -> Accounts -> [+] to create a test one (and [-] to remove it if needed)
Also, do you use any third party internet software (Norton, Intego, etc.)?

  • Blue Boxed Question Marks In Safari...HELP

    Hey Guys,
Just messing around with iWeb and created a quick site at:
    http://web.mac.com/tjmerwanji
I've noticed these blue boxes with a question mark in them in numerous areas, in place of some pictures or sometimes just randomly
Looked through the forums about text encoding and it didn't work or I'm doing it wrong
Just published normally to .Mac using iWeb,
    Really need help!
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
I'm using the black template (i think), and I tried to add the "Add Comment" function. The i republished, and now i get is the '@post" where "add comment" should be....
Also on my blog entry page all the link functions ie. a link, Email Me, Read More, Add Comment...all appear as blue square with questions marks. But if you click on the blue squares the links do work and it takes you through to the page you want. All images etc are still there, it's just the links that have the questions marks.

If anyone has any suggestions other than just sitting it out and see if Mac sort it, it'd be great to hear.
    Thanks.

  • Safari Image turns to Tiny Blue Box with Question Mark

    Hi all,
I get tiny blue question mark a lot in Safari.
Many Website where i visit almost everyday, the images appear as "tiny blue box with question marks". My Firefox also fails to load the images and had the same problem with "tiny blue box with question marks". Before every site work fine. I have been searching through Google and many others search for almost 12 hrs for a solution to solve this problem but none of it really works out. Basically, I have tried everything, I just can't find and still not able to fix this issue in Safari and Firefox.
Is this a Safari 3.0.4/Firefox 2.0.0.9 problem, or is there some setting on my Mac wrong or is it a new virus recently?
If anyone has any solution to solve this problem, an very much appreciated...
    CK Lee (From Thailand)

Hi guys, I am also in Bangkok and working (I use the term loosely) with True. Like you, the images have not been loading over the weekend and I have been trying to track this down. I went through all the motions of restarting, clearing caches, etc., but that was no good.
On Saturday morning, I went into my office where I have access to another network (I don't usually use it as it is a bit flaky), but when I tried that, the images did load.
Back at home, I tried again and the blue squares reappeared. I checked some of my own web pages which also had the squares, but only selectively (images in the same directory were OK; those that were accessed via internal links were not). Using FTP I checked the website: images were all OK as were the links on the pages themselves.
As an experiment, I uploaded one image. When I tried the page again, the image appeared. I then uploaded both of the affected directories and the pages were back to normal after a couple of reloads. What this indicates to me is that the cache, either at True or upstream, has a problem.
I do think however that it is True as the other server I used would also access the CAT caches and they seemed OK.
A series of notes to the True helpdesk might jolt them into some action on Monday morning after they have had their starter coffee. I have had some success in the past with [email protected]
    All the best.

  • Blue box with question mark

I previously posted a question regarding a blue box with a question mark in it being displayed instead of a picture. I have updated my Flash player and I have ensured that everything in the quicktime section of the system preferences was checked (except for PDF's).I was asked to post a link to the site I was having a problem with before, however it was password protected. I am again having problems, but I found a site where this occurs that it isn't password protected. Here is the link:
    http://oilers.nhl.com/team/app/?service=page&page=NewsPage&articleid=387732
The Blue box is on the left side under the tab for "Tickets". This isn't a huge deal this time, however when this problem occurs on the other site, I need to be able to access the pictures and can't. Thanks for your help!

http://cdn.nhl.com/oilers/images/upload/2008/10/header_features.gif is the missing image in your example.
Safari is reading the page code and knows an image file should appear. It places the ? mark to show you the error.
    No Flash or QuickTime involved.

  • Why am I getting a blue box with question mark instead of logo image?  It happens in my signature (in gmail) and in mailchimp (again, only with the logo).

Why am I getting a blue box with question mark instead of logo image?  It happens in my signature (in gmail) and in mailchimp (again, only with the logo).

The question mark in the box, if it looks like this:   means that safari cannot find the linked image.  On windows machines, this would be the equivilant of  the small "page-with-a-red-X" logo that appears in the same scenario.  Check the reference to the image and make sure that the image is in the correct location, and is accessable by the reference.

  • Blue boxed question marks on photos after publishing?

All of my photos have white question marks in blue boxes when I publish my site to my FTP server. I've read where this is caused by pictures not being linked properly, but I have re-linked and have left the location of the photo file unchanged, to no avail. I've contacted Yahoo (my provider), also to no avail. I have not fully published my site to my domain yet due to this, but this is the URL of my temp domain:
    http://nashvilleleader.com.p8.hostingprod.com/Nashville_Leader/Home.html
Any help would be greatly appreciate. Thanks!

The files haven't been uploaded. Take a look at the Activity for your home page, Option-Command-A, to see the URLs of the missing files.
Look HERE to see the directory and note that the files aren't there.
How are you uploading the files - iWeb FTP, an FTP app or Yahoo file manager?
Good luck with getting help from Yahoo - their tech support is the bottom of the barrel.

  • Blue boxes instead of pictures

When ever i go on a page in safari that has pictures, i only see half of them. The rest show up as blue boxes with a question mark. Anyone know what's up?

That's normal. It means that the server where those images are obtained is not functioning or the image links themselves are no longer correct or no longer active. Nothing you can do about it except report it to the site's webmaster.

  • All attachments now blue boxes with question marks

Something happened over the weekend to Apple Mail on my laptop... ALL attachments now just show up as funky little blue boxes the question marks. Instead of showing me a JPEG, PNG, or PDF inline in the message, it's just a little blue box. If it's an XLS file, for example, it doesn't show me the file name inline, it's just a funky little blue box. This is true for BOTH incoming and outgoing messages. If I create a message and attach a PNG screenshot that I just took, I can't see the image in the message, all I see is a funky little blue box. For the incoming messages, these images that I can't see are not linked to an external server, they're attached images.
    Here are two screenshot examples:
    http://johnhmoore.com/AppleMail1.png
    http://johnhmoore.com/AppleMail2.png
In both cases, I should be able to SEE the images.
    I'm in Apple Mail 3.2 (919/919.2) on OS 10.5.2 on a MacBook.
    Thanks,
    John

I'm having the same issue and came across this page while searching for solutions.
What really bothers me is that the attachments are there I just can't see them!
i found this older discussion that mentions the same basic issue. Just thought I'd post it on the offchance it could help. (I haven't figured out how to find my plist so it doesn't help me much.)
