Blue line scanning iPhone screen

Hi! I have a strange problem with my iPhone 5. A transparent blue line of a half inch is scanning my screen from left to right. Not only it's weird but also it makes the running application crash! This problem occurred after iOS 7 and it did not go away with the update. Does anyone experience this problem ?

Hi, Honeyatapple.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Before processing any of these steps, make sure to backup your data.

I would start with processing the steps for display issues in the link below.

The last step would be to restore the device and test the results after the restore.  If the issue persists, see the last section labeled Issue not resolved in the article above.

My iPhone 4 has blue lines down the screen which occasionally change colour. I've tried resetting it and restoring the settings but it is continuing to do this. please help....

To rule out a software issue, set it back to factory settings without using the latest backup.

If still lines on the screen, this is hardware related and the phone needs to be serviced:

  • I've just downloaded software -now have a thin blue line on my screen? pls. help.

I have just downloaded some software...when my computer restarted, it now has a thin blue line on the screen.  What's happened?

A: is it in all screens or just Chrome (unlikely)?
    B: reset SMC
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
C: Your LCD is highly likely NOT broken rather a signal feed hardware issue in the monitor cable that travels thru the hinge from the logic board.
D: make a screenshot and verify if the screenshot shows the same or not.
E: the LED backlighting is showing thru implying, of course, that the LCD feed for that vertical line is not being fed.
    Reset SMC and verify.
if same, you have either bad monitor cable or connection of same at junction with logic board.
At which point make appt. with Apple for diagnostic / service

  • Thin blue line on Iphone 5 screen

Was wondering if anybody has any ideas as to why I would have a very thin blue line, running about three quarters of the way up my screen, about half a cm from the left. It's only noticable when the screen has a white background. Otherwise the phone is in perfect working order and is just over a year old. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello there, SuePop.
The following Knowledge Base article gives us a few recommendations for troubleshooting issues with your display:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802
    Particularly:
    Display image issues
This can include bright or dark pixels, lines in video, or sections of video missing.
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
Verify the issue is not content related, by viewing different content.
If the image is too dark, adjust the brightness. In General Settings choose Brightness and Wallpaperand slide the slider.
If the issue persists, there are recommendations at the end of the article as well:
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?

  • Qosmio F30-117 - green and blue lines on the screen

So my F30-117 has been working well recently until I turned it on and had green and blue lines (sort of like scan lines) overlapping the screen.
I tried to install new drivers from nvidia, but that didn't work, as Vista just picked them up as unknown.
Anyone got a solution? Do you think the graphics card needs to be reseated?
    Thanks in advance!
    - Shayde Zehetbauer.

You can easy determine what the reason is for this.
    Do you know how?
Just connect an external monitor to the notebook and check the picture on it.
If you have the same issue on the external monitor the reason is the graphic card and/or mainboard, if not its an internal display issue.
    Check this!
Furthermore you should only use the drivers from Toshiba. The Nvidia drivers dont have an overheat protection so the graphic chip could be damaged. Its on your own risk.
So try to install the drivers from Toshiba.

  • Blue line on the screen

A vertical blue line has suddenly appeared on the display of the screen it goes from the top all the way down to the dock.
Any way I can fix it?

Sounds to me as though you have a screen defect. This is a known problem, it is not unheard of, meaning you are not the only one who have experienced this.
To make sure: You are not seeing this 'blue line' on an external display your MacBook is hooked into? It is on the MacBook's screen?
Judging that you have purchased the Service Plan for your computer, it can be replaced or fixed free of charge from Apple. It doesn't sound like you have voided your warranty in any way.
Take it to your local Apple Store, and make an appointment online with an Apple Genius to have your laptop looked at and examined. From here, all the repairing mesures wll be taken to repair your laptop to full strength.
Apple - Retail - search for your local Apple store, and make an appointment.
Maybe someone else has some further insight on this topic to guide you in another direction.

  • Blue lines down imac screen

I have an iMac4,1 with an Intel Core Duo processor, and on the right side of my screen I developed a blue line running from the top to bottom of my monitor. A couple months later, another line appeared right next to it. Does this mean my iMac is crashing? Can this be easily fixed?

The iMac 4,1 was made from Jan 2006 to Sep 2006 so it is five years old. At that age it's possible that a problem is developing in the on-board graphics card. The fact that it's an iMac means (1) it isn't easy to take it apart and (2) the graphics card isn't removable, it's part of the main circuit board. It may not be practical to fix it. Run the Apple Hardware Test as Carolyn suggested. Maybe it will find something less catastrophic that can be repaired inexpensively.

  • HELP! my ipod has a thin blue line across the screen whenever i play videos

i got my ipod a day ago. i havent dropped it or anything and when i play a video there is a thin, blue, vertical line on my screen. is it broken or what!?

It could be a problem with the way the videos were encoded. Where did you get them from or did you encode them yourself.
If you encoded them yourself, what program did you use?

  • Blue line running through screen (T400 1440 x 900)

    Hey guys,
So  my monitor has this blue line running straight through my monitor vertically. When I first got it, if I tapped my monitor on the side a bit, it would go away but then the line was permanent! I thought my screen was busted and started looking into a replacement screen. Now, suddenly, as I type the line flickers and it will go away so the monitor will be normal. But after some more typing the line will reappear. Now Im thinking the vibrations are affecting some sort of connection to the screen and the screen may not be bad. What do you guys think? Is it the monitor or a connection? If its a connection, what connection would it be?
    Thanks,
    John
    P.S.
I took a picture of the screen right here. You guys can see the line that runs straight up and down in the middle of the picture

that is usually the problem with cable connection between motherboard or the LCD itself.
Also, try to connect to an external LCD, to see whether this problem comes up.

  • Blue line on the screen of my new Iphone4, pls help!!!

I bought one Iphone4 at London, yesterday I try to power on and find out that there is a blue line on the right of the screen. Please help me, I do not know how to post photos here. If you want to see the phenomenon, please send me email.
    Another question:
Can I take it to the Apple Service Center in Netherlands for repairing? My Iphone4 was bought in London and have one year hardware warranty.

Try a soft boot......hold the power button (on the top) simultanenously with the home button (the button on the front of the phone). Hold them together until the Apple Logo appears. If the swipe to shut off bar appears, keep holding the two buttons until you see the logo. Once you see the logo, release the two buttons and the phone will reset. Settings will not be effected, but this may solve your issue.........

  • There is a blue line on my screen since upgrading to FF 4. (Windows 7) It appears in all windows in exactly the same spot. Is there maybe a plug-in problem?

Checked all plug-ins for updates, uninstalled FF4 and re-installed it, cleared history, checked plug-ins again. Everything seems to be working fine but the blue line is still there. It is vertical and runs from the top of the screen next to the bookmark star down approx 3/4 the way.

What happened is the update forced your phone into recovery mode. There's been a lot of issues with this, but the only thing you can do is plug the phone into iTunes and do a restore on it. Hopefully you have a backup so you can restore your information.

  • Blue line burned on screen

    Hello community,
I'm not sure if anyone else has had this problem but recently I have what appears to be a burned in blue line horizontally across the screen about 1/3 of the way from the bottom. Is there anyway to fix this? It's not a complete deal breaker but it's annoying especially as the phone is only about a month old.
    Thanks!

You could download a screen test app and see if it produces the same blue line, but I am sure it will if your problem is the one I have seen before. Do a factory reset (No real way out of one in this case, thankfully its easy to back up everything now). If the line is still there call Customer Service and get a new device. If you are within your 30 days you will more than likely get a brand new device, if not you will get one that a certified one, which is just as good as a new one, without that new phone smell.

  • Satellite P300-150 - Blue lines across the screen

A question about my blue screen but as a computer non geek havn't a clue how to describe. Here goes.
The normal white screen of my computer has begun to appear with moving blue lines across it. However when I push my laptop screen back toward my knees the screen stabilizes and is normal.

    Hello
That means if you have the display, the picture will not be display properly anymore?! Is this right?
And what you mean exactly with white screen exactly?
At the moment it sounds like that the LCD cable has a loose connection and must be replaced. Therefore you can contact an authorized service provider in you country to replace this part.

  • Ipod Nano 7th Generation with thin green, dark blue and light blue lines on the screen?

I have an Ipod Nano 7th Generation. It was brand new about a year ago, but roughly 5 months in the screen had a single dark blue line running down the screen, this has now developed into 4 light blue lines running horizontally and another green line running vertically.
I think it may be something to do with the pixels and the screen - something to do with the fact that they display red, green and blue colors?
I have restarted the ipod but to no avail. I have tried getting into the system settings as well but cannot seem to manage to access them.
    Any help?

Take it to the Apple Store to get it fixed.
