Bluetooth Verifier Fault caused by HP C8180

I have an HP C8180 wireless printer, copier & scanner.  I have it set up on a new Dell Microsoft Vista laptop computer as a standalone - one computer and one printer - NO network.  No other computers have access to this printer.  After the latest HP Security Vulnerability update - I believe it's dated 11/26/2008 - I have been getting the following critical Windows Vista error message "BC_BLUETOOTH_VERIFIER_FAULT (0x00000BFE)."  I've noticed that as soon as I designate just the C8180 printer connected to the computer with a USB 2.0 connection, then everything is OK.  As long as I'm Bluetooth wireless then I get the critical error message and the blue screen.  Before the Security Update everything was fine and the printer worked just fine wirelessly.  I looked at Device Manager and tried to Roll Back the driver without any luck.
Does anyone out there have any ideas?  Thanks in advance.

UW_Nathan,
Microsoft sent me the following reply when I complained about the bluetooth verifier problem.  Hope it helps you.  Rick
Generally, the blue screen and crash issue is caused by outdated or corrupted hardware drivers. Regarding to our issue, since you have recently installed Windows Vista SP1, it would update several system files and device drivers. When SP1 is installed, some older drivers are reinstalled. If these older drivers do not reinstall correctly, the problems can occur. At this point, I suggest reinstall and update all the hardware drivers as the BIOS to the latest version, especially the printer driver, its driver may have corrupted after the installation of Vista SP1. If the issue persists then, please follow the steps below to troubleshoot our issue.Step 1: Clean Boot
===============
Please disable all startup items and third party services when booting to avoid conflict: 1. Click "Start", type: MSCONFIG in the search box and press Enter.
Note: Please click "Continue" if the "User Account Control" window pops up.2. Click "Services", check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray). 3. Click "Startup", click "Disable All", click "OK" and restart your computer.
Note: Temporarily disabling the Startup Group only prevents the startup programs from loading at startup. This shouldn't affect the system or other programs. We can manually run these programs later. 4. Please check whether the issue may occur in clean boot mode.To restore the computer to use a Normal Startup, repeat step 1 above. Then click "Normal Startup" on the General tab, click "OK", and then restart the computer.If the issue persists, please continue to perform Step 2.Step 2: Safe Mode
==============
1. Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when you see the boot menu. 2. When the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, select Safe Mode, and then press Enter. 3. Log onto Windows by using the Administrator account or any user account with the Administrator privileges. NOTE: In Safe Mode, your system display and Desktop will look and perform differently than in Normal Mode. This is only temporary. To return the system back to Normal Mode, we can simply restart the computer.4. Please check whether the issue may occur in safe mode.   If the issue persists, please collect the following information for further research. Please be sure that the information does not contain any of your confidential and private information. It’s for troubleshooting purposes only. Thank you for understanding.System Information
===============
The System Information can provide us with more information about the current status of the system. I would like to check it for you. Please send it to me using the following steps:

  • T410s bluetooth driver update causing BSOD

    A bluetooth driver update seems to be the cause of bluescreen crashes on my T410s running windows 7 64bit.  this has happened with all bluetooth driver updates I attempted to install in the past year.  a windows optional update installed a broadcom bluetooth driver which caused crashes. I unstalled the update and the system returned to normal. two lenovo updates had the same problem specifically: thinkpad bluetooth drivers 6.5.1.4500, and 6.2.1.3100.
    for anyone having similar problems, I found that using the older 6.2.0.9421 bluetooth driver has resolved the issue.

    If it's not broken, don't fix it.

  • Broadband faults caused by RAIN

    Hi can anyone tell me if my only option is to change service provider. My broad band keeps dropping out and is never up to the line max given which was 3.5Mbit. Since raising a new fault recently BT Openreach engineer has been in attendance and confirmed my line is not at fault and has only slightly poor characteristics. He was V excited to announce a major radio frequency issue he had detected. It turns out a faulty CCTV camera power pack is emitting a signal that is blocking my line via the drop wire acting as a receiver and this causes the exchange equipment to see errors and reduce my broadband. SO THE FIX IS NOT IN OPENREACHES REMIT, THEY SAID THEY CAN'T GO AROUND FIXING EVERYONE ELSE'S FAULTY EQUIPMENT. So I guess they mean tough luck but good luck getting your neighbour to shell out for a fix they don't need as the cameras are still working. Question is can I get a screened dropwire to stop this interference?

    I think you mean REIN (Repetitive Electrical Impulse Noise). I would be very surprised if that was the issue, as the line is normally balanced, and would only pick up a small amount of signal anyway.
    What are your ADSL Statistics ?

  • Bluetooth hardware failure, cause by using a usb bluetooth adapter

    My laptop is MBP 13" early 2011,  after using a usb bluetooth adapter( built-in bluetooth had compatiblity problem with my mobile phone) and unplug it,  and then found the built-in bluetooth is not working any more, it can search devices, but it won't establish connections or pair with other devices.  At firs I thought it was the bluetooth driver or configuration problem, I try to reset factory setting using the develper tool Bluetooth Explorer,  then reset kext file, even tried installing a new lion,  but the problem remains.  So I think it's not driver/configuration problem now, it's hardware failure, but wait.. just caused by using other usb bluetooth adapter?  I really can't understand why apple will let such thing happen....

    it turns out the hardware is fine , the problem is solved after resetting SMC : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

  • Charged for repair even though fault caused by Ope...

    BT sent out an Openreach engineer to investigate BT home hub disconnection every couple of days, and also slow broadband speeds. He spent over 2 hours fixing line faults outside the house, which should clear the reconnection problem. He then found loss of signal in the wiring between where it enters the house and the master socket. This wiring dates from c. 1990 so is not CAT 5. He replaced the faceplate on the master socket as he said that could be responsible for the drop in signal (it didn't make any difference). After he left we realised we couldn't make outgoing phone calls (the phone called random numbers).
    A second Openreach engineer called 2 days later and found there was now a short on the wiring leading to the master socket. With my help he replaced the wire. We have now been charged £129.99 for the second visit. BT claim that the internal wiring isn't their responsibility, even though it is before the master socket and the fault was caused by an Openreach engineer's visit.

    The faulty wire was inside the premises but before the master socket. My point is that the short circuit was almost certainly caused by the first engineer. Before he arrived the phone worked, after he'd gone we couldn't make outgoing calls.
    When we queried the bill we eventually got a callback (after 2 days waiting and a call from BT to say they were too busy to call back). At first Edna said she hadn't got a record of the first visit. Then she said that it was a coincidence that the phone had stopped working and that it would probably have stopped working soon anyway as it was old wiring! She said that the engineer wasn't allowed to leave if the line wasn't working, but all that happened was that he asked if the broadband was working, which it was. There wasn't a phone test. She offered a partial refund and I ended up agreeing to pay £65 instead of £129.99 for the repair. This isn't because I agree with her "logic", I don't think we should pay at all for a problem caused by Openreach. It's just that life is too short and I am so happy to be almost free of BT.
    In fact it didn't quite end there. We waited for a week for the refund to be credited to our bank account. When my husband phoned to chase it, the refund had been credited to our closed BT account...and they wonder why we've left!

  • Handling invalidVariable fault caused by onMessage

    Hello.
    I have many receive activities in my process. Each receive activity is in scope with catch activity which handle invalidVariable fault (validating XML). When incorrect message come to receive invalidVariable fault is thrown. Catch activity handle this fault and reply to client with error message. And scope with receive activity is looped back until correct message is received.
    But how can I handle invalidVariable fautl caused by onMessage branch on whole proces?
    Thanks

    Right. for InvalidVariable the scope (and therefore the onMessage) will always terminate.
    You will have to catch it outside the scope, and loop around.
    process[ receive, while [ scope_with_catch [ scope_with_onMessage [ stuff ] ] ] ]
    The nasty consequence is that the "stuff" will also restart at the beginning when the loop comes around, and not just simply continue.
    The "stuff" code will therefore need to detect if this is a restart and act accordingly.
    But generally, you should never get an "invalidVariable" fault, it suggests somebody sends the wrong message?

    Oddly enough, when I disable Avast! antivirus, the problem dissapated. Somewhere in there though the read logic from quicktime is probably flawed. It needs to read bigger blocks or something like that for HD video. Never have seen this problem for non-HD.  I noticed that searchindexing goes haywire with tons and tons of reads and like 10+ sessions when quicktime is reading an HD video file. I disabled indexing on the drive and  For now, I disable Avast! to use it.

  • Ralink Bluetooth Controller Drivers Causes Blue Screen Of Death

    Good morning, I have a HP Envy 17-J010el notebook, born with Windows 8 and now I have updated it to Windows 8.1 Professional.
    After the update, I noticed that the bluetooth controller drivers couldn't be installed:
    Bluetooth Controller: PCI\VEN_1814&DEV_3298&SUBSYS_18EC103C&REV_00\4&2051f34d&0&01E0
    HP Support Assistant and Windows Update are unable to find them. I downloaded them from HP Envy-17J010el drivers page (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-125314-1&cc=it&dlc=it&lc=it... and tried to install them but I got the blue screen of death and I had to format my pc. These drivers are only for Windows 8 and evidently don't work on 8.1.
    I searched the web for a solution but I discovered the everybody are in my same position, and anybody can't find a way to solve the problem.
    At the moment I don't know what to do, I need the bluetooth but  I can't use it or simply activate it.
    Are updated drivers going to be released for Windows 8.1 soon?
    I apologize for my english.

    Do you read English?!
    No one tell you to format your pc!!
    Just go to program and features - Uninstall Update.
    Find KB2887595  Uninstall it, restart your pc.

  • 10.6.8 update causes bluetooth to repeatedly "crash" while using headphones

    I'm having severe problems with bluetooth "crashing" during headphone use, causing bluetooth to become "bluetooth not available".
    This problem is very frustrating, causing me to stop using my Sony DR-BT101 headphones with my iMac. I've tried resetting the PRAM and the SMC, but the problem still persists. In fact, last night, after resetting the SMC for what seems to be the millionth time, my bluetooth became "unavailable" about 10 minutes into using my Sony headphones, or 15 minutes from the SMC reset. But It's not all bluetooth activity that causes this problem. I use my Magic Trackpad all day without any hiccups. It's only when I use the bluetooth headphones that bluetooth crashes.
    But I use the term "crash" loosly, since I can't find any problems identified in the console, and the bluetooth diagnostic utility doesn't work when the bluetooth controller becomes unavailable. I'll be watching a movie with my Sony headphones when all of a sudden silence, followed by a "lost connection" message from the Magic Trackpad. I check the bluetooth icon in the menu bar, and it's "Bluetooth not available" all over again.
    Does anyone have an insight as to some solution to this problem? I was hoping that the last update to 10.6.8 (HDMI) might've fixed the bluetooth problem, but no luck.
    Thanks.

    Apple might fix the problem with SL; they did release the 10.6.8 Supplemental Update, which fixed an HDMI problem. So we might get a fix.
    Don't know if this problem affects Lion. I haven't read much about it, since I'm not upgrading for another few months.

  • Bluetooth causing dropped calls?

    If I'm on my iPhone 4S near my new Macbook Pro setup on my desk (with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse) I drop 100% of my calls. Does anyone know if a wi-fi or bluetooth connection can cause a disturbance? This just started happening when the computer came into my house - I never drop calls anywhere else!

    doubt it bluetooth is only 1watt or something gsm signals are many watts

  • Fault and Error handling questions

    Hi,
    I have a few of questions regarding exception handling :
    1. Where can I find documentation (i.e. details and when thrown) on all the Standard faults available with BPEL ie. those in
    http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2003/03/business-process/" and
    http://schemas.oracle.com/extension
    2. Let's say I do not know in advance what specific fault to catch. I add a catchAll inside my scope. When catchAll triggers, I want to get the detail faultmessages of whatever fault caused the catchAll.
    3. I want to use a message type from the RuntimeFault.wsdl in my project. Should I copy over the wsdl file to my project folder ? If I do not copy over and import it from it's location (integration/orabpel/system/xmllib), the console is failing runtime when I try to render the input page.
    How can I do that ?
    Thanks
    Arindam

    You can find the standard faults from the BPELspec
    1.1.
    In 10.1.2.0.2 (the latest released version), youcan
    use some system xpath functions to extract thefault
    information in <catchAll> block:
    getFaultAsString( ) returns String
    Or
    getFaultName( ) returns QName as fault name.Hi Muruga,
    Thanks for your reply.
    Can you please also let me know :
    1. what's the signature of these methods ?
    2. I have 10.1.2.0.2 local version. However under
    catchall -> assign -> xpath expression builder, I do
    not see these 2 functions.
    Can you please help.
    ThanksHi Muruga,
    I tried doing the following :

    <catch faultName="bpelx:bindingFault" faultVariable="bindingFaultVar">
    <assign name="assignBindingFault">
    <copy>
    <from expression="concat(bpws:getVariableData('bindingFaultVar','code'),bpws:getVariableData('bindingFaultVar','summary'),bpws:getVariableData('bindingFaultVar','detail'))"/>

    </copy>
    </assign>

    <copy>
    <from expression=""Unexpected Error in the BPEL Process""/>
    <to variable="outputVariable" part="payload" query="/ns1:TransmissionAck/ns1:TransmissionText"/>
    </copy>
    <copy>

    <to variable="outputVariable" part="payload" query="/ns1:TransmissionAck/ns1:StackTrace"/>
    </copy>
    </assign>
    </catchAll>

  • Bluetooth Desktop Manager communications - a Solution

    There has been some chat about this already on this forum, but I haven't seen a simple statement of the problem, its cause, and the solution.  As of today I have a Blackberry (an 8310) successfully resyncing over Bluetooth, so here's a quick summary.
    The Problem (if you have one)
    ======================
    You can't get the "Synchronize" Option in Blackberry Desktop Manager 4.1-up to work over Bluetooth with your Blackberry.  (And for this discussion we will assume that you CAN get it to work over USB - just not over Bluetooth.
    The Cause
    ========
    The cause is that your computer and your Blackberry are not communicating properly over Bluetooth.  You may have no Bluetooth connectivity between the two at all, or it may seem that you have the BB and computer properly paired - either way it is an illusion and makes no difference.  If you can't complete the following on your computer - get to the Options/Connection Settings dialog box in Desktop Manager, check the "Enable Bluetooth Support" box, hit "Configure Bluetooth", hit "Add" and then successfuly see and add your BB handleld - then you can safely assume you do not have the proper type of Bluetooth connection you need to make it all work properly for the BB.  Quit trying and read on.
    Assuming you have Bluetooth on your computer working properly for other uses (ie. not broken), that you have Bluetooth discoverability turned on for both computer and BB and that your BB is healthy, the problem is with the Bluetooth drivers on your computer.  Specifically the problem is that many Bluetooth drivers handle the usual Bluetooth functions like audio connection and networking, but NOT the one function you need, which is data transfer.  Hence these drivers - which are almost always proprietary, non-Microsoft drivers - may work just fine for many purposes but they will never, ever talk to your BB in the way that you need them to.
    The solution is to replace the Bluetooth driver you have with the generic Microsoft Bluetooth driver from Service Pack 2 or later.  These Service Packs are easy to download and install from Microsoft, but the trick is that this does NOT replace the Bluetooth drivers your computer is actually using.  Even deleting the Bluetooth drivers doesn't work because the computer instantly realizes it is missing the driver, looks for the appropriate Okie Fenokee brand driver that goes with the Okie Fenokee Bluetooth driver definition still sitting there in your proprietary computer, thoughtfully re-installs it and leaves you back right where you started.
    The Solution
    =========
    The solution is easy once you know.  I DO NOT PROMISE what this may do to other Bluetooth applications you have working perfectly right now, so if Grandma's kidney dialysis machine is hooked intimately to your working Bluetooth setup as it is right now, then proceed no further.  Otherwise, hit "Start" and right-click on My Computer, then left-click on "Properties".   Choose "Hardware", then "Device Manager".  Find "Bluetooth Radios" in the list you get, expand it, and then delete EVERY entry you get below it in the hierarchy.  Now get back out of all that.  You have left your computer with a piece of hardware (the Bluetooth radio) and absolutely no software to drive it.  Your computer will realize this and immediately start searching for software (drivers) to remedy the problem.  It will ask you where to search, so make sure it either picks up the current MICROSOFT drivers from the web or the MICROSOFT drivers you have lying around (unused, till now) on your computer from a previous installation of Service Pack 2 or higher.  This is easily checked just by going back into My Computer/Properties/Hardware/Device Manager/Bluetooth Radios and looking.
    Give it all a minute to settle and then the previously-mentioned procedure- get to the Options/Connection Settings dialog box in Desktop Manager, check the "Enable Bluetooth Support" box, hit "Configure Bluetooth", hit "Add" and then successfuly see and add your BB handleld - should work.  Moments later you'll see the PIN of your BB appear at the top of the Connection Settings dialog box, a sure sign of success.  Now just go ahead and finish configuring Desktop Manager as you would normally, do the Sync and all's well!  Contrary to some beliefs you do NOT need to do one successful USB sync before Bluetooth synce will work; the Bluetooth problem is entirely about having the right Bluetooth drivers that can cope with the special needs of the BB.
    Hope this helps and good luck!

        Your solution sounds pretty good but doesn't work for me.  I'm running Vista with service pack 1 and two USB-Bluetooth adapters I've bought have no Microsoft driver.  The manufacturer's driver works great but device manager does not find a Microsoft driver.
        Is there a registry key I can modify?  What about a list of compatible USB-Bluetooth adapters?
        I'll try another adapter from a different manufacturer but most of them do not list Vista as a supported os.
        By the way.  Just what is so special about the Microsoft driver that Desktop Manager needs?  The whole point of a Bluetooth and USB interface is to isolate the app from the implementation to avoid just this type of circumstance. Almost implies that Desktop Manager doesn't support Vista.
    Thanks,
    Bill

  • Mouse stops, computer freezes. this problem occurs with any mouse: bluetooth, wired, and a spare logitech wired mouse.  iMac 0S10.6.8

    Help! Mouse stops, computer freezes. Restart helps for a while, then mouse doesn't respond. Problem occurs with my 4 "mice" - bluetooth, apple wireless, logitech wired & microsoft wired. Any solutions?

    Problem solved!
    First, the underlying cause MAY have been an unusual circumstance: a smartphone (Galaxy Android) was placed next to the iMac, turned on and with Bluetooth enabled, and left for hours to charge.  Could this proximity have resulted in the Mac getting some strange Bluetooth input?
    Fix:  Using the temporarily-installed mouse and keyboard, I removed the existing Bluetooth keyboard and trackpad entries. (I just removed every Bluetooth device.)  Then I used the standard procedure to re-pair the wireless keyboard and trackpad.
    After removing all Bluetooth devices, I could not get the Mac to detect any Bluetooth devices until I restarted the Mac, at which point device detection and pairing worked flawlessly.
    My best --and admittedly ignorant, sketchy-- theory:   Some mal-formed event got stuck in the Bluetooth input stream, causing the trackpad up and/or down states to be hyper-sticky.  That event couldn't be cleared without removing the originating device and re-pairing.

  • After downloading firmware for airport utility, airport express base station no longer registers with airport utility on my Mac. Now the base station is blinking amber with no info of what is causing all this to happen. Any suggestions?

    After downloading firmware for airport utility last night, airport express base station was deleted from airport utility and only Time Capsule remains. When I plug in the base station, an amber light blinks without being able to verify the cause. Any suggestions to remedy this problem?

    There are only a couple of things you can do to resuscitate a nonresponsive Express:
    "Hard reset":
    Press and hold the reset button with a pen or pencil until you see the status light (LED) start to flash amber rapidly, which should occur after about five seconds.
    If that does not work,
    "Factory defaults reset":
    Unplug the Express from power.
    Press and hold the reset button with a pen or pencil, then plug the Express back in while continuing to hold the button until you see the light (LED) flash rapidly. This should happen after a few seconds.
    Release the button.
    In either case you will have to reconfigure the Express as a new device. A moment or two after it has been reset, the LED should be blinking slowly. It must then appear in your Wi-Fi menu like this:
    Earlier versions of OS X will report it as "Apple Network nnnnnn".
    In either case, select it, and then launch AirPort Utility.
    If it does no appear in your Wi-Fi menu after it has been reset using one of the two techniques above, it is defective. Other than attempting another reset, there is nothing you can do.

    Hi Guys,
    I've been using a Home Hub 3 for a couple of years without any real problems. I recently decided to plug a USB HDD into the hubs usb port to act as shared storage on the network. I initially tried using an unpowered portable HDD which failed to work (I've since found out that the port does not have the power to power these devices).
    I then tried a powered HDD which worked well and I was able to map to my network. However with in 24 hours I started noticing very frequent intermintant dropping of my internet connection. Through elimination I have isolated the cause to the USB drive. On removing and powering the drive the internet connection returns to being stable with no problems.
    To test if it was just a fault caused by that particular USB drive I installed a USB flash drive (I have read that the port outputs enough power for a simple thumb drive) to see if the problem was recreated. Again the drive was recognised and I mappped it to the network sucessfully. However the intermitant problem has again become apparent. It has again also been corrected by removing the drive from the home hub.
    The outages seem only to be with the internet connection. The wireless network with in the home remains up and running without interfernce. The outages are all for several seconds before self correcting and can happen almost continually making the web virtually unusable. For example it has taken me 5 or 6 attempts to post this message.
    Any help on the cause of this problem and solutions would be greatly appreciated. I'd really like to avoid buying a NAS etc if unnecessary.
    Many Thanks,
    Jeff

    ...HDD needs to be formatted in FAT32...
    Hi Nick,
    Thanks for that info, and the above probably explains why it didn't work with the drive I tried it on - I'm pretty sure I formatted the one I tried to NTFS - I shall have to test it with a thumb drive.
    Also, if you're looking at going down the NAS route, I've also been looking into getting a NAS and have had Netgear recommended to me - I know they're a good manufacturer, and from what I've seen it looks like you get pro-level features (such as RAID 5 (improved error correction/redundancy (for models with 3 or more drive bays)), hot swap (so you can swap out a dead drive without switching the unit off), and so on) at much closer to consumer-level prices - not 100% sure if they do one with FTP/web access, but I'd be surprised if they didn't.
    Worth shopping around - there's a lot of alternatives on the market these days.
