Blurry titles in QT export

I am editing a project in which there are words that scroll and go left to right. The font is pretty large and they were created within FCP. They look fine within FCP (admittedly on my computer screen not a proper monitor) but when the project is exported to a QT file (I kept the settings the same) they appear blurry and are really hard to read.
Is this a frame rate issue? Or something to do with field dominance? It's really annoying!
Also there are various images that move by keyframe that lose a crisp edge when they move... I have always been told you don't need to render before you export... would that make a difference?
Thanks a lot....

Unless you're exporting with Compressor, its best to render FULL. Also keep in mind that QT Player may not be displaying at best quality. With the file open in QT, hit Command j to open the movie's properties so you can set the high quality flag.

  • Titles squeezed when export from 16:9 FCP project but video OK

    Hi,
I'm using Compressor to output a small QT file from FCP 5.1.4 to stream on the web; the source media is DVCPROHD 16:9. When I use the H.264 LAN presets, the video is displayed in the proper aspect ratio but the titles are tall and thin...any suggestions on how to correct this?
    Thanks,
    David

    Hi David,
There is something wrong with the way Compressor handles stills & titles.
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=6548813#6548813
The only workaround that I have found is to export titles separate using "Export-Using QT Conversion", and then paste them into the resulting QT file created by Compressor... Really convoluted and time consuming when dealing with a lot of files and a lot of titles.
It would be great to hear from Apple about this issue.

  • Blurry Titles within Titler, even blurrier on Timeline

I know there are a lot of documented issues about blurry text and titles after rendering. I am encountering blurry titles within the Titler interface, and on the timeline in Premiere Pro CS6. It is just white text on a black background, nothing has been scaled up or transformed or anyway, but the text is just totally crappy looking. It will probably look ok when you look at the small screenshot cap below, but if you look at it at 100%, you can see that the text is blurry and there are broken horizonal lines.
Perhaps it will render out ok, but I'm still mystefied why Adobe would put out such a sub-par program.

Ok, this is what I did:
    Open Adobe Premiere Pro CS6
New Project > DV - NTSC > Standard 48 kHz
Dragged an image onto video track 1
    Title > New Title > Default Still > Video Settings: 720 x 480, 29.97fps drop-frame, pixel aspect ratio D1/DV NTSC (0.9091)
Inside Titler: Area Type Tool, drag area inside title safe area
    Typed some text
Changed font family to Adobe Garamond Pro, font size 60, background of black
Adjusted text area to be at the bottom of the text safe area
    Closed Titler window
In sequenced, dragged title to video track 2
When I delete the image from video track 1, the text does look better -- still blurry, but the broken lines go away. But ultimately I need to have the text over the image (no background) -- I just used the black background to isolate the text for this experiment.
I rendered out this arrangement (title with black background over image), and the broken lines weren't there in the render; however, the text was still noticeably blurry.

  • Blurry titles when exporting from interlaced to progressive?

I have a project which is DV PAL (720 x 576) and needs to be exported as a progressive H264 mpeg file. The video looks good in the export, but the titles are blurry. I just did a test and exported the project interlaced, and titles were fine. So the problem is clearly the transition from interlaced to progressive. Is there any way to get crisp titles in this situation?
Using Premiere CS6. Have tried exporting to progressive with several alterations to the title clips (reversing field order, always deinterlace) with the same result.

    Hi JR Dungan,
How about you create a new progressive sequence, and then copy paste all of the content of your current interlaced sequence into the new progressive sequence, and export from there.  I haven't worked with interlaced footage for years so I don't know for sure if this will help or not, but since it's quick and easy to do, it's worth a try.
    Cheers!

  • Blurry Titles in Premiere CS6

Is Adobe doing anything to correct the problems that Premiere CS6 has when creating titles that look great until they are rendered, at which point they become blurry...titles created in Photoshop and/or AfterEffects render out the same way in Premiere.

Here is a simplest workflow using the PPro Titler to generate a title.
ie. Create a Title on a White, Black and Alpha BG.s  ( alpha is the centre section)
The samples show screen grabs of the process plus a frame that is grabbed from an H264 HD 1080p Export playing in Windows Media Player.
    Everything is at  Default Setting.
I doubt you can see much difference between any of them and no loss or blur on the "export" in the WMV player. Last frame bottom right.
    Top left Titler Grab
Top Right Full Screen Program Monitor Grab ( Tilde Key Shortcut)
Bottom Left Source Monitor Grab - (Full rez)
Bottom Right - Screen Grab - Playback from WMV Player - H264 1080p file ( YouTube Preset)
You still not have told us your export settings or any settings for that matter!
(Makes it difficult to work out what you are doing without that info.)

  • Blurry titles in iMovie 11'

    Hi,
I have noticed recently that the titles in iMovie are blurry, I thought that when ill export the movie the titles will syncronize to the resolution of the movie, in my case 1080p but they didn't.
does anyone have a sloution to my problem?
    cheers.

Our brain is programmed to naturally accept that if the object is static, it looks sharp. If an object is in motion however, it will look blurry.
What happens if you make a moving object static?!? Your brain needs to see this as being sharp, but it can not being it is actually in motion. This is the function of in camera stabilization and iMovie and pretty much all the other software stabilization setup. It stabilizes the image, but does not prevent motion blur. Preventing motion blur is a function of shutter speed, but the problem with upping the shutter speed is that it removes a certain cinematic feeling our eyes and brains are naturally atuned to. Which goes to show why, even with the shaky footage of the movie "The Blair Witch Project", the movie went on to be one of the hits.
There's always a trade-off using camera stabilization or software stabilization and that is, do you want
1, stabilized footage but at the expense of seeing motion blur
    or
2, unstabilized footage that gives you sea sick but keeping the acuity as is.
Most people will choose stabilized footage and use in conjunction a steadicam setup..

  • Blurry text upon Compressor export

Finished a feature film, and exported through Compressor. Using fairly large font sizes in the movie, but upon export through Compressor and subsequent disc authoring, all the text throughout the movie (opening credits and end credits)gets blurry. Not like super blurry, but, like, say, the bottom of a line of text, almost like compression artifacts or something. When the DVD is paused, the problem clears up, and the text is almost as crisp as it is in the original project in FCP. I feel like I have overlooked a simple setting somewhere, like a field dominance setting or something.
    Thanks in advance.
    -van

I have never liked the results from FCP's built in title tool.
Have you tried LiveType? I always get nice crisp titles with it. You can combine different typefaces, do neat animation, textured backgrounds and stuff with it. LiveType gives you a file that uses the Apple Animation codec.
For scrolls, Photoshop is a good choice. What I do is start with a PS Film & Video preset and increase the vertical Canvas size to fit all the text into one document. If I have more text, it can be increased further.
Saved as a Tiff with transparency, it will composite automatically and a simple start and end keyframe applied in the Motion tab is all that is needed.
There are some excellent tips on titling [here|http://library.creativecow.net/articles/hodgetts_philip/titles>.

  • Title not getting exported to excel when i use ALV oops.

    Hi Friends,
I have split the container and used cl_dd_document to display my Title data in TOP of page ( Container 1 ) and displayed my table data in the second container. I'm getting the output perfectly but when i try to export to the excel sheet, only table data ( i.e data in Container 2 ) is getting downloaded. i'm not able to bring the title ( Container 1 ) details in the excel while exporting . pls help. .
Note : I also want the title details to be displayed when i click on the print button.
I dont get this problem when i use REUSE_ALV_COMMENTARY_WRITE but in my senario i cant even use this FM as it doesn't supports more than 60 characters.

Since you have two different container for Header & ALV data, the buttons on ALV grid ONLY will only consider the data within itself.
To be able to download header and data both, you need to add additional buttons to either PF-status or ALV and write a code to do that.

  • Blurry Interactive PDF when exporting from InDesign CS6

Hi there, wondering if anyone can help me out with this question,
I've created a new document in InDesign, with intent set to 'web'. I have set the page size to exactly the correct pixels that I need. I've inserted my image, which is 72dpi and the exact pixel size I need. Everything looks good, and seems to be correct.
Problem occurs when I go to export.
I'm exporting the PDF as 'Interactive', but no matter what setting I put it at, the finished PDF seems to push the final view by about 30%? and therefor makes the PDF blurry.
It seems a little crazy to me, as everything seems in place and correct?
    Any suggestions?

Acrobat views files at 96 ppi.
You can see this in Edit>Preferences and go to Page Display.
    Solution - I'd use 96 ppi images.

  • Titles not working, Exports lag with Snow Leopard Update. PLEASE HELP!

I just installed Snow Leopard yesterday and it installed very cleanly. Afterwards, I went and opened up iMovie '09 and everything was working smoothly except for the titles. In both the preview box and the projects, all the titles and effects were either all black, or had black boxes all around them. Also, when trying to export a video to Youtube regarding my problem, I looked at the video and for the first time ever, the audio and video were not in sync. Is this Snow Leopard's fault? I have tried everything I can think of but nothing is solving either problem. If ANYBODY can help with either problem PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me out! Also, if anybody is experiencing the same problem, please let me know. Thank you very very much.

I'm having the same problem. In addition to the titles doing the exact same thing you described, the titles in the globe/map also have a black box, and some of the transitions don't work properly. I called Apple Care last Friday, and spoke to 2 people. We were not able to resolve my issue. I tried deleting and reinstalling iMovie, removing the preferences, reinstalling snow leopard, creating another user account, and a bunch of other stuff. I did receive a case number, so as soon as I find out more information I can let you know. I am not having any problems on my other computer, so I guess it's a computer specific problem.

  • Boris Title 3d after export....

...looks squeezed and distorted - even to the point that it gets clipped at the top and bottom of the frames on the frames that have a bunch of text.
All updated software, late 2007 MP, sequence is HDV 1080p, 23.98, no field dominance, and I am trying to export the sequence using compressor and the iPhone VGA preset.
This sequence and workflow is the same as several other sequences that I have exported in the past, just different content - but otherwise the settings are all identical and even the titles that are being distorted are simply copies from other sequences that have worked in the past. This is really like one of those "all of a sudden" things.
This is driving me nuts because everything else in the exported quicktime looks great (images, HDV video, imported Motion graphics), but just those Boris 3D titles are squeezing and distorting - and they've never done that before. I read in one thread about someone mentioning that the Boris titles are using square pixels -- true, but still this has never been an issue upon export in the past. Anyone have any ideas - I'm under a mild deadline and this is making me look like a moron - usually not that hard to do though, I admit. Thanks in advance.

I've been having this same problem for years. Exporting a timeline, from FCP version 5 and higher, using compressor to create quicktimes always squeezes/distorts titles created with boris. If I use quicktime conversion in FCP, the titles look fine, so it seems like it must be a compressor issue. I will try exporting a stand alone quicktime then re-importing that into compressor to see if that works. For big batches, it's not really efficient to export a bunch of fullres qt's only to then re-import them into compressor to output web qt's. I'm using fcp 6.0.5 with osX 10.4.11 on a mac pro quad core. Does anyone else have insight into this?

  • CS 5.5 Title Aliased After Export

Hello, I have a strange issue with CS 5.5.  I have a 3 minute video that has 3 titles in it.  All were created with After Effects.  One of them however, although it is perfectly smooth within the viewer premiere, becomes aliased and blocky after being exported.  I'm using 1080p 24 h.264 as my export.  The other tites are fine, but for some reason this one is aliased.  What can I do to trouble shoot this?

Ok, I exported the after effects comp as quicktime with "best settings" for my render settings.  The quicktime file itself plays back fine without any aliasing.
I went back into premiere and reexamined the text in the viewer, and it turns out that the text in question is indeed aliased within premiere, so the problem must be something within premiere.  The viewer shows the file perfectly fine without any aliasing, but the program window(showing my sequence) displays the same text but aliased.  I will include a screenshot of this:

  • Title for Excel Export

    Hi all.
In BI 7.0, after executing a query, I can download the results to Excel and the description of my query name shows as the first row in the Excel sheet.
When I use this query in a template that also uses the tab item, the data is dumped to Excel but the name of my query does not show.  I have tried changing the Export command parameters to have a header but that seems to only apply to PDF downloads.
I've considered putting in a label item (or something similar) with the title in it,  to download to excel with the data, but I'd rather not if there is a simpler soultion.
    Thanks for your help.
    Jeff

    Hi Jeff,
when you execute a query from Query Designer, the web Template 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN is used. If you lookup the button group parameters there, you could see what and how it is exported to excel.
So, you have to add a text item to your web template and bind the text content to the query title. Then it will be exported to excel.
The parameters according headers, page format etc. is not used for Excel export.
    Look up [note 1178857|https://service.sap.com/sap/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=1178857].

  • Unable to use Titles- will not compile or render titles (preview or export)

I have been unable to insert titles in Premiere Pro CC. I just installed it yesterday, and everything seems to work except when I try and insert titles using PPro's internal Titler. The preview line above the title (and only the title) remains red and when rendering the preview a "Error compiling movie: Unknown error" pops up. When exporting, once it gets to the title, it will also stop the render with the same error. If I remove the title, it renders fine. When creating a new Title, I have made sure that the pixel size, etc. is the same as the rest of the project. Occasionally, I can make a modification to the title and it will display properly in the preview window, temporarily. Once I take some other action even as minor as saving the project, the title will revert to its failed state. In this state, it won't render and when playing the preview, the image will freeze on the last frame before the title and once it is past the title, the video continues. It is a simple rolling title for end credits. If the title is temporarily working in the preview window, it will also work in the project box. However, when the title is in its failed state, the thumbnail in the project window also does not work. Click it gives that multi-language media rednering screen. Double clicking the titles anywhere brings up the Title editor screen and everything appears fine. The screenshot below shows the error after trying to render the preview of the title. I tried disabling the CUDA acceleration (I have a GTX770 card) with no change. I have also tried various file formats in the export to no avail as copying and pasting into a new sequence to no avail. The C: drive has over 70GB free and the disk with the scratch files has over 170GB free. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
    Rob

I am still having the problems with it however I will have to re-create the test case as I accidentally cleaned it out when I cleaned up my APEX space at oracle's public server. I will rebuild the test case and post a link later today.
