BO tools licensing on SAP clients now

We have a dashboarding requirement to be delivered in 2008.
As a SAP licensed customer, can we start using the BO toolset now so our migration path will be easier next year?
What would be the point in creating something in WAD or Visual Composer this year, if we have to change it to XCelcius(+) next year?  We would like to create it using the BO toolset of XCelcius this year so there would be minimal impact.
Would we have to pay licensing for this, this year?  It is apart of the SAP suite now, but how is the licensing handled?
Thanks.

Hi Tracey,
As far as I know to use the BO toolset you would have to pay additional fees at this time.
On the upgrade to Xcelsius, it is relevant to bear in mind that the BI7 tools (Bex and WAD) will be supported until 2013, and extended maintenance till 2016, so you have the potential of 8 years before your development is not supported.
Looking at the roadmap, and knowing some of the hard times implementing BI7 back in 2006 I'd have thought that in 2009 it will not be the slick finished tool, and will probably require a number of OSS notes etc...
It will also depend when in 2009 the toolset changes, I would have thought if it is not released to mid 2009, unless on ramp up, a customer would probably not want to upgrade to the new tools till at least 2010.
I suppose I am basically saying if you have a need today for the dashboard then use the current BI7 toolset. If your need could be delayed for at least a year then you may want to wait, but you will probably not get to see the amalgamted products until 2009 anyway.

  • WebTools Demo License installed and now sap clients can't connect.

    Hi,
I have installed a WebTools Demo License on the SAP/SQL Server. Now, SAP Clients from the other computers cann't connect to SAP, the error is:
    Connection Failed:
    SQL State: 08001
    SQL Server Error: 233
    Best Regards,
    Kafil Shumon.

    Hi Bryce,
Thanks very much for the reply. Somehow windows firewall got enabled and that's why we were not able to connect.
Now, I have already installed the "Demo WebTools License" for testing at the customer site. Now, how do I go back to the Initial "License Request" page so that a "test server license" can be requested?
    Thanks,
    Kafil Shumon.

  • BMC APPSIGHT for SAP client diagnostics - License

    Hi,
I downloaded the BMC Appsight tool for SAP client diagnostics and also blackbox. As i understood there is no license required to use this client tool. If i launch the appsight system and gave URL of solution manager :
http://<host>:<port>/sap/bc/srt/rfc/sap/AGS_CHECK_LICENCE_SEP?sap-client=<Solution Manager client number> but it is giving connection failed ... is it something related to license ? or could be some other issue...
    Thanks,
    Murali.

    Murali,
I'm having the same issues you had.  I believe I've saved everything correctly in WSCONFIG, yet the BMC Client is still getting the error "Solution manager connection failed".
Did you find any documentation for this part of Solman_Setup for Solution Manager 7.1?
When I put the URL to the AGS_CHECK_LICENCE_SEP in a browser, I get a blank page, which leads me to believe that the service is being reached.
    Any tips would be appreciated.
I've gone through all the BMC notes, and followed the documentation in solman_setup 20 times now, with no luck.

So can you tell me how to add the license key For BO XI R3.1 SP3 Integration Tool Kit For SAP in Linux Server.

On Unix / Linux you should be able to leverage the response from Raphael and change:
    Location=%BOBJDIR%/bobje/data/.bobj/registry/software/business objects/suite 11.5/sap/keycode/.registry

  • When starting SAP client always ask about license server

    Dear Users,
from few days every user who is loggin into SAP 8.8 PL16 is asking about license server address.
After typing license server address everything works fine until next start of the SAP client - prompt for license server shows again and again.

The same situation - names are resolved propertly. This issue occurs only on that customer installtion from few days.
I have even upgraded 8.8 from PL14 to PL16 believed that it helps, but helped not...

  • Install SAP client got error license server is unavailable

    Dear All,
Our client is on SAP88 PL21, SQL2008, Win Server 2008
    The workstation is windows7.
After the user reboot her computer (No error about anything. Not because of Windows Update she aware
of. She just felt the computer is slow. So she reboot the computer), SAP cannot connect. After she
click choose company, SAP said no responding.
I create ODBC connection from the workstation to the server. It works fine.
Then I de-active UAC. Turn off firewall. Same issue.
    Next I remove SAP client.
    Then install.
One of the screen is asking license server. I entered SAP server name. Got error (license server is unavailable). Then I entered IP address of the server. Got error. Attached is the error message. License server is unavailable.
Check your license server name and port.
This is the only workstation has issue. She can login from other computer by using her SAP user no
problem. I checked SAP note 1142479 Connection with license server failed /TAO NT Naming Service.
But it doesn't look like our case. I also research on SAP portal. I cannot find any helpful document
since her case is, after reboot cannot connect to SAP license server. And she said, nothing changed
    on her computer.
I got an answer from SAP. They asked me open port 30000, 30001, 1433 on both server and workstation. I know we need to open 30000, 30001, 1433 on the server. But I am not too sure why we need to open 30000, 30001, 1433 on workstation? We already deactive firewall on workstation. We've never did this for any workstation. Thanks.
    Regards,
    Yuka

    Hi,
If they dont want to reinstall the whole OS you may try using Terminal License or
Remote Desktop Connection to run the program since your SAP client installation is a failure.
Or you may try to use VMWare to connect but consumes RAM and resources in your computer.
Thats the remaining options you have if you dont want to reinstall your OS.

  • SAP Client to the SAP Server: internal Error (-1102)[Message 131-183]

    Hi,
    We are using Windows 2008 Server R2, SQL 2008 Standard, SAP B1 8.81 PL08.
When we trying to connect SAP Client to the SAP Server. There has internal Error (-1102) occurred. We can view the database on client, but we always get the same error message after enter the User ID and Password. We have checked the native client and it is installed and also opened the following ports: 1433, 30000, 30001. We have tried to open all of firewall, but itu2019s no use.
When I set a computer in to the engine room and set the network connection, this one can connect SAP Client to the SAP Server.
But when client connect to server by VPN, the IP address will not in the same section. Then We tried to set the IP address has the same network section with the server, but it's still disable.
I set a computer for SAP Server without firewall, complex network, virtual IP and no router in my office. And use a SAP Client which is in different network domain to connect to SAP Server by internet, not VPN, but the SAP Client still canu2019t connect to SAP Server. I get the same internal Error (-1102).
It can not only ping to SAP Server IP, but telnet to the port 1433, 30000, 30001, 445.
When I use a pc with server tools, it can connect to the SAP Server by the localhost license. But if I use a computer only install client and assign the server license. The latter one always got the error.
How could we solve this problem? Is there has another setting I am missing which might be blocking the connection?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
We are using VPN and using Terminal Licensing or Remote Desktop Conneciton.
The idea here is VPN will connect you to the network and when you are connected to the network
dont use the direct LAN IP connection use the Terminal Licensing to connect.
Again both are needed VPN and Terminal Licensing. VPN for the connection and if successfully connected
use or connect from Terminal Licensing or Remote Desktop connections.
    Thanks.

  • KMS license activation issues client systems within child domains

    KMS Server Setup:
    OS: W2K12 R2
    KMS ver: 2012
Multiple child domains including a single domain in which the KMS server resides. All client systems and servers are scattered across the child domains throughout the enterprise.
The new KMS server, running OS 2012 R2 and KMS 2012, sits within a separate domain. All systems will eventually get migrated to this domain. I have two (2) KMS servers I plan on using to accommodate the pending activations. From reading I think you're allowed
to have a totla of six (6) KMS servers.
I've modified DNS to include placing the two servers within a security group and granting that group Full control permissions on the new _svc record.
As of right now I'm able to discover servers and client systems scattered across the enterprise. I've also confirmed the ability to update license status on a number of servers.
When attempting to update license credentials on client systems I get the following error:
Unable to connect to the WMI service on the remote machine.
I've come across a few systems that I've been able to update, most sitting within the same location. So I'm a little confused on how best to troubleshoot this issue.
In addition I have a few Macintosh systems running a virtual parallel of Win7 that are also getting this error when attempting to activate.
I've had other instances where when attempting to update license status the office products will get activated but not the OS.
This issue only occurs on client systems so I'm hoping to get some direction as I've ruled out firewall and blocked ports as the cause.
    Any response appreciated.

    remote WMI needs a few things to work;
    a) networking/routing (can the destination machine be resolved by name? can you route to the destination machine?)
    b) permissions (is the account you are using to connect to the target, permitted or denied?)(is there a trust?)
    c) is WMI and DCOM on the target machine, healthy/configured correctly?
    d) can you successfully connect/authenticate to the target machine, using tools such as msinfo32, compmgmt.msc, "WMIC /node:computername csproduct get name"

  • Mapping of different SAP Clients

    Sir
I would like to know that My Company A (SAP system) would like to buy New Company B (which is also SAP ) and Company C (Non-SAP) , we would like to integrate all these systems  to get consolidated information ( especially financial information  ) and we also do not want to disturb present individual companies.
Is there any approaches for consolidation of SAP Clients.
    Regards
    Ramana

    Venkat,
There are some tools for the same but then consolidation especially across geographies and accounting standards is not as easy as clicking a button and voila!!
Also does Integrate mean - a merger ? / a buyout ? and will the companies merge under one company name after that or exist as different companies ?
If they are going to exist a different companies - then you could look at a unified reporting standard between the companies that could be used to report consolidated data / BCS or on the lines of the same.
If it is change of company name and an integration in that perspective - it would become that more complex by way of legal requirements.
You could however try and see if the big 4 have anything on it - especially KPMG which does a lot of work on the SAP side of things also might have something.

  • License Assign in Client 8.8

    Hi all,
we have imported the productive license via the sap license manager. I can see the Hardwarekey, SystemNumber and the Installation Number on the Licensmanager under setting.
When I start SAP 8.8 I get all the licenses in the license administration (register components), but the SAP Client under Help (Information about) has no Hardwarekey, System Number and Installation Number. It writes -1 in Installation Number and 0 in Application ID. Therefore I cannot assign the licenses to the users!
    Regards, Nick

    Hi Nicholas,
    This is what you wrote:
"When I start SAP 8.8 I get all the licenses in the license administration (register components), but the SAP Client under Help (Information about) has no Hardwarekey, System Number and Installation Number. To assign the license to a user you only need the information that appears under the licenses administratrion form and not the information under Help. Therefore, you still can assign the license to users eventhough the Help menu is "empty".

  • Including SAP-Client in Service-Settings?

    Hi,
i try to connect to cFolders-Settings using Portal Drive, but i need to switch between two different SAP-Clients on the same server. How can i tell the Portal Drive to connect to a specific SAP-Client?
    Thanks a lot!

    The configuration is okay,
i try connecting to Service /default_host/sap/bc/kw/cfs. This works for standard SAP-Client 001. But now i try to connect to cfolders-Settings (Service /default_host/sap/bc/kw/cfs) for SAP-Client 421. Do i have to create an external alias?

  • SAP Learn Now space moderation

Just wanted to bring this to the attention of Moderator community - is anyone aware of the content posted in SAP Learn Now space? It seems many new SCN members misunderstand its purpose as "post any random basic SAP question here". In case it does get moderated here is a sample of what is being posted there:
Looks like not much traffic (and therefore "community moderation") in that space. Considering the low number of posts that are actually relevant to learning (even remotely), is this space actually needed? We already have Career Center for "how to become..." questions.
    Thank you.
P.S. Special thanks to my "brother-in-initials" Jyoti Prakash for bringing this up.

I don't think the text ist meant as "You are learning SAP and don't understand something? Ask here!". I think, they are talking about asking questions and sharing knowledge about the topics regarding the learning tools SAP provides.
At least that is what I understand. *g* But I guess, it can be pretty misleading. Maybe the description should be made alot clearer (not that most of the members posting there have ever read the space description, I bet).
When I look at the topics there, maybe it would be easier to go "tabula rasa" and just start fresh. Right now, that place is a mess. And I don't think anybody would miss any discussion, that is currently in that space. Maybe then the space can be used again for what it is meant and poor Greg here is not going through abuse reports half of his day. ^^

  • No more device licenses in WPF Client

    Hi All,
I am working on SAP Service Manager 4.0 which was running perfectly in WPF client CRMSMWPF00_0-10013291.exe
But suddenly it started giving error -  "No more device licenses in WPF client" and in Agentry Server the log shows - "Device licenses limit exceeded"
I reinstalled the WPF client but the issue remains the same.
I tested the application in ATE and the application was downloaded without any issue.
Please suggest me why I am getting this issue and what should be done to solve this issue.

    Hi,
What you can do is do some settings in SAP GUI and distribute those settings to all users via some kind of network distribution tool.

    Hi Anand,
While installing the WCF LOB adapter SDK, I guess you haven't chosen "Complete" installation.
    Try this:
    1) Open Add/Remove programs in control panel.
    2) Select the change option WCF LOB adapter SDK and enable 'Tools' in the list of features to be installed
(Tools install the Add adapter service ref Plug-in).
    Alternatively,
You can also uninstall and then install the WCF LOB adapter SDK, but this time make sure you do a custom install by checking everything not just the default.
