BO6.5 ORB error after moving server to new location

Post Author: seetr
CA Forum: Older Products
Our server was forklifted to a new location within our network, so the IP address changed but everything else remains the same.  Now we are unable to restart the BO server.  We found a location in the Configuration Tools > ORB setting where the IP was hardcoded.  We were able to change the IP after stopping all BO services running on the server, but we could not complete the setting change as we keep getting the following error - "Configuration script cannot be started (Error: CFT 06002)".  Any ideas?  Thanks!

Hi,
What steps did you perform in the Configuration Tools to update the IP address?  Can you provide details?
You may have to Update the ORB or completely recreate it.
Note that if you recreate the ORB, you need to backup your Storage folder.
But before proceeding with the above, please check the following note:
1182500 - Error: "Configuration script cannot be started(Error: CFT 06002)" when customer trying to update the ORB
Symptom
When trying to update the ORB the following error message appears: "Configuration script cannot be started(Error: CFT 06002)" You are then unable to ping the IP address for a server name.
Cause
The "C:/Winnt" or "Windows/System32" value is missing for the System variable PATH.
Resolution
Perform the following steps:
- Add C:/Winnt or Windows/System32 to the System variable PATH.
- Reboot the server.
- Update the ORB.
Hope this help.

Jeff

  • ORA-01031 (Insufficient Privileges) after moving server to new domain

    Hello SAP/Oracle experts,
We recently performed a 'lift & shift' to move our SAP test system (QAS) from our HQ to our hosting partner's data centre. Although SAP works fine, we've lost the ability to run database operations through DB13. We now receive ORA-01031 - Insufficient Privileges errors whenever we try anything through DB13.
Because moving the server involved changing the Windows domain to which it belonged, we created a trust relationship between old and new domains so that we didn't have to change the details of QASADM and SAPServiceQAS. We ran the usual oradbuser.sql and sapdba_role.sql scripts. We also removed and reassigned the ORA_QAS_DBA and ORA_QAS_OPER groups to the QASADM and SAPServiceQAS users. All of which seems to have made no difference and we still get ORA-01031 errors in DB13.
Even stranger though is the fact that at the Oracle level, user sys is able to log in 'as sysdba', whilst user system cannot. e.g.
sqlplus “sys/<password>@qas as sysdba” – Works.
sqlplus “sys/<password> as sysdba” – Works.
    sqlplus “/ as sysdba” – Doesn’t work
    sqlplus “system/<password>@qas as sysdba” – Doesn’t work.
    sqlplus “system/<password> as sysdba” – Doesn’t work.
This leads me to believe that the problem is not SAP-related (i.e. sapdba_role won't fix it!), but is more likely Oracle-related and perhaps down to the fact that ths system was built in one domain, but now resides in another. I guess the easiest thing to do would be to create QASADM and SAPServiceQAS accounts in the new domain and try that, but that's clutching at straws and doesn't explain why Oracle user sys works, whilst system doesn't.
Has anyone moved servers between domains and experienced similar problems?
Thanks in advance of any help,
    Arwel.

is the recommended procedure when moving SAP Systems (or the server where they installed on) from one Domain to the next one (at least if the user accounts are in the same domain as the Server).
You have following dependencies when installing in a domain:
    1. domain groups
    2. local groups containing domain groups and/or domain accounts
    3. Domain Accounts
    4. maybe domain groups are used in Access Control Lists of local Files / Directories
    5. User rights Assignment in registry
    6. as in Oracle Database internal users reflecting Operating System users.
In Windows Security Objects (ACLs of Files, Directories) a Windows Account is referenced by it's SID which is unique (you can have a look at those strings in Upper Keys of the Registry HKEY_USERS). This means that a Domain User XYZ in Domain A has a different SID than Domain User XYZ in Domain B. The same applies to Windows Groups.
As a result of this c:\documents and Settings\XYZ will not be for the use with the same name if you move the computer to a diferent domain.
Windows will create something like c:\documents and Settings\XYZ.NEW_DOMAIN. As a result of this all envrionment variables of XYZ in the old domain are not visible in the new domain, because they are stored in the users registry which resides in c:\documents and Settings\XYZ\ntuser.dat in the old domain and c:\documents and Settings\XYZ.NEW_DOMAIN\ntuser.dat in the new domain.
Too many things to do, to many possibilities you can make mistakes  - therefore --> homogenious system copy.
    regards
    Peter

  • SoundBlaster X-Fi Driver Installation Fails After Moving Soundcard to New Slot

NSoundBlaster X-Fi Driver Installation Fails After Moving Soundcard to New Slot4 I recently moved my X-Fi Elite Pro soundcard to a different PCI slot to accommodate my new large PCIE graphics card.
Prior to moving the card, my?original SoundBlaster install went fine without any trouble. When I booted up after relocating the card,?it was not detected at all. So I uninstalled my SoundBlaster driver software and?rebooted the computer?thinking that was necessary to clear any hardware configuration settings from the old install. This made no difference. I then discovered my card was not seated properly and corrected it.
Next I installed the SoundBlaster driver software. The installation proceeded and finished with a request to restart the computer. Once I did, the computer detects my card and starts the hardware installation wizard asking if I want Windows to search online for driver software. It does not recognize the just installed SoundBlaster driver installation. I have a dual boot setup and this happens in both WinXP Pro and Vista 32 Home Premium.
    What's wrong here?

Forget it folks...couldn't wait for any suggestions so I just cleaned off my hard dri've and reinstalled everything. Works fine.

  • 1487 error after moving ws object

    Hello,
I'm recieving the 1487 error when trying to remote control a WS after
moving the WS object to a different container.
I've search through many posts with the same problem but nobody seems to
post a solution. Here is what I'm doing...
    1. login and the WS is succesfully imported, I can then remote control it
    succesfully.
    2. Move the WS object to a new container.
    3. Reboot the WS, now I get the 1487 error.
At this point I can see that the registry is not updated on the workstion
    with it's new location.
    HKLM>SOFTWARE>NOVELL>Workstation Manager>Identification>Workstation Object.
    4. The workstation then re-imports itself to it's original container
    defined in the import policy.
    5. Now I'm unable to RC either the moved or the new WS object.
    6. If I delete both the moved and new objects, reboot. It will then
re-import and can now be remote controlled again.
I'm suspecting a possible problem with the search policy. I have tried
different variations of the search policy placement and configuration but
none seem to get me any better results (mostly worse). I'm not exactly
sure how the search policy should be configured if it even is the problem.
Any help would be apreciated, thank you.
    I'm running Zen7 sp1 w/ hotpatch 6.
    I have nwclient 4.91sp3
    I have reinstalled the zfdagent.
    I have removed nmas.
I tried 4.91sp4 client, same issue.
I have enabled debug logging on the WS and Server, can't seem to find any
    errors.

  • Finding and installing cartridges after moving to a new country

HP customizes some products and cartridges to meet specific local customer needs. During your initial printer setup, the printer automatically set itself to accept cartridges specific to a country or region. If you take your product from that country to another country, you might not find cartridges with the same number on the label as your original cartridges. These cartridges will not work in your product even though they appear to be compatible with it. If you purchase cartridges that you believe are compatible with your product, and then try to install them, you might see one of the following error messages:
    'Incompatible Cartridges'
'Cartridge Not Intended for this Printer'
    'Incorrect Cartridges'

  • D101 Error after moving a GW Resource

Hi, I've seen a few posts on D101 errors, but none seem to fit my circumstances. I have a resource "Dept Calendar" owned by USERA on POA. Everything works fine. Other users can proxy to the calendar with no problems - everyone is happy. USERA then leaves the department. I moved the resource to POB and give ownership to USERB (who previously had r/w proxy access). USERA is removed from the proxy list. Now, whenever USERB opens an appointment that USERA had entered, she gets a "D101" error with the calendar appointment referencing POA. The D101 makes sense, sort of, because the resource is no longer on POA. But why?
Our GW is 7.0.4 on both server and clients. I ran an analyze/fix on the resource but it came back with no errors.
This is a new one for me. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

  • Can't mount share points over VPN after moving server

I'm tearing my hair out over this one. We have a server that was located in our office. I just moved it downtown to a colo center (no longer in office) and set up VPN access.
However, nobody is able to mount the server share points, even though the connection to the VPN seems to work fine (e.g.: I choose "connect to L2TP..." and it connects, VPN icon shows I am online with the server).
Any attempt to mount a share point fails. I've tried using afp://servername.com and I've tried afp://64.xx.xx.xx (where that's the machine's public IP address). Am I supposed to use a different address (such as an internal 192 address that works over the VPN) or should I be able to mount the afp point using the server public domain name? Should I try NFS?
Any help would be appreciated -- really need to get access to this system's files again! Thank you!

And does anyone know which IP you enter for your sites in the web service? The public static IP or the internal private static IP?
For the external DNS server I am sure you have already deduced that it should be the static IP issued you by Comcast and this will be forwarded by your router to your server.
For your internal DNS server you could use either the internal LAN IP, or the external IP although the later might be affected by your firewall so this you will need to test.
For the Web Server service in Server admin, if your only running a single website you could avoid the issue by just using the wildcard entry which will respond to any IP address, so this would be an empty host name and an IP address of *
In fact you don't have to specify an IP address you could just use the hostname, so it will listen to traffic arriving at your server addressed to any IP address and as long as the URL that was requested includes the hostname you define for the site it will get responded to. So if as an example you have two websites you want to serve
    www.example.com
    site2.example.com
then as long as both have the IP address for the site as an * (asterisk) then both should work as separate sites for traffic addressed to either the LAN or WAN IP address of the server.
You will still need to use two IP addresses on the server to enable VPN, you could use a USB Ethernet adapter for the second one. Port forwarding for VPN is not as simple as other traffic as VPN requires traffic different to the standard IP and UDP packets. Routers that support 'VPN Passthrough' are specifically designed to accomodate this but I don't know if the AirPort Extreme does this. I have also found PPTP copes better with this sort of setup than L2TP although PPTP is generally regarded as less secure.

  • HT6012 "no importable files" msg after moving library to new user

I had to create a new user profile, old one was corrupted. I moved all iMovie files to new user profile's folders. Although I can see all my projects when I iMovie Library package contents, I cannot get them imported into iMovie. I get "no importable files" msg.
    I have:  iMac w/OS X Mavericks (10.9.5), iMovie 10.0.5

If you're going to move the file to the new location (e.g. shared account called photo), you need to change the permissions on the file. It's not just a simple question of where the file is located -- but also who has read/write rights to the file (which is a folder).
So if you have it in the /Users/Photo directory, you should do this:
    sudo chown -R photo:photo "Aperture Library.aplibrary"
You'll need to enter the password of an admin user to do this.
Assuming your Aperture library is called that (you need to do this from terminal and see what it's called). You could perhaps also do that from finder as well, but the recursive permissions thing, I'm just not as sure what it will let you do.

  • Playlists not showing up after moving itunes to new computer

moved itunes to new computer and used an externa;l harddrive to move "iTunes" folder over.  the most recent "setup" of itunes on old computer is not showing on new computer.  For example "music" file size on external drive is 133GB - on new computer itunes, only 33GB.  and, playlists have disapeared.  any ideas?

See Make a split library portable for some background on moving the library successfully. You need the main iTunes library.itl file, its supporting files and the Album Artwork folder as well.
If you can find that data it should be possible to put everything together in the right shape and make it work.
Otherwise I have two scripts called ImportDevicePlaylists and SyncStats which may prove useful.

  • After moving files to new iMac, an iMovie project won't play audio music tracks

I bought new imac. Transferred files using target disk method and firewire - drag and drop.  All files appear to have moved OK to new imac.  But when I try to resume working on an imovie project that I had started on the old imac, the itunes music clips I dragged into a series of clips does not play the music, even though the green bar appears under the clips and the audio adjustments appear to be the same as in the old imac, which I still have.  The audio that is "built in" to the original clips when the videos were made on the camera are still there and play.  Help, please ?  Thanks.

    Hi
*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows.*
    • Delete iDVD pref file - *or rather start a new user/account* - log into this and re-try
    iDVD pref file resides.
    Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
    and is named. com.apple.iDVD.plist
While iDVD is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
    Now restart iDVD.
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
    • Hard disk is untidy. Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)

    • iDVD (08) v7 Locate theme folder. Move out iDVD1, iDVD 2 and eventually iDVD4 folders to desktop - re-try
    • Try a Cleaning CD/DVD that cleans the laser lens on the DVD burner/player
iDVD 6.0.4 and iDVD 7.0.1 are compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
Last resort. from Craig. Solved the problem!! Finally!!
I deleted every iDVD application and folder from my boot drive,
emptied the trash and then installed iDVD 08 using the customize option
and I am up and running.
If You do a re-install be sure to get rid of all iDVD old parts AND then EMPTY the Trash-basket !
    iDVD updated ?
    Apple Codec updated ?
Start a New Clean project - or delete project assets

  • Replicating server to new location

hello all, im new to SAP, and need some assistance with replciating my server out to a new distribution point.  The issue is that the "extra" files that I have included in my install that are in my customerfiles folder location on my original server are not being replicated out to the new location.  i am using the command in the chm file to replciate the server out, and as far as I can tell, it works but my files do not get replicated out, so my install fail.  My package is there i think, but then again, i really dont know how to tell.. if anyone can let me know how to tell if my custom package has been replicated over to my new server distribuion point, that would be great.  Thanks in advance...  JARED !

  • Moved G5 to new location, airport not working

I just moved my G5 downstairs to the same exact place where I typically use my laptop (powerbook G4). Never had an issue with the laptop recognizing airport and going online, but now my G5 won't show any networks at all and I can't get airport to work.
Is there something I should be changing in the settings or how can I get airport to work on my G5 in the new location?
    Thanks much!

    Hello BDAqua
No problem, I do quite a bit of experimenting with my Macs and find out some weird things, but some are working to my advantage, I always operate my Power Mac G5 without the side panel now, but of course keep the air deflector in place, unless theres company coming over, then I replace the side access panel. Also, there is an antenna inside the G5. It runs along the opposite side of the G5 case behind the logic board to the rear of the case, where the external antenna is connected. So by removing the side access panel, it allows for moderate reception. =) As mentioned earlier though, definitely not as good as the external antenna, but when used without the access panel in combination with the external antenna, it get better reception than my 1.25GHz iMac G4 did. And by the way, this also is true for Bluetooth as well, as I have a Bluetooth Board installed in my G5. =) I loaded my G5 once I bought it (Used).
    Regards again. =)

  • Embedded font errors after migrating pdfs to new web server

    Hi All,
After hundreds of working pdfs were moved to new web server, they produce variations of the "cannot extract the embedded font" (name of font) "some characters may not display or print correctly" error. The first page loads perfectly and the rest never load. All these files open fine when I open local copies in Reader (9.1.3) and Professional (7.1.0).They also open fine when moved to another server. When I delete copies on the server and re-upload using the working copies, the errors persist. Doesn't make sense. I also occasionally get the error "there were problems reading this document (14)".
I was told by the IT department that a possible cause was that the new server environment used fonts installed on the server rather than the local machine to display pdfs.  This doesn't make sense to me.  I've researched these errors and haven't found anything applicable or that has worked. Any suggestions? Has anyone else expeienced this?
The server is IIS and is running ASP.net. The IT dudes are saying they need to install all the refferenced fonts on the web server but due to the expense of this, they can't.This will nessecitate a really bizzarre and Rube Goldbergesque workaround (that I'm not even going to try to explain here) that I'd really like to avoid.  Any suggestions? Are there any Acrobat settings that need to be twekaed?

    Hi,
I read the following on another discussion in this forum:
it appears that with the shortkey ctrl+shift+Y you can force the pc to work around the system fonts
    Maybe that helps.

The moved package has had a public synonym created and the execute privileges assigned to the original schema by role. what am i missing? Using 11gR2 version 11.2.0.3.0

Privileges granted through roles do not apply to stored procedures and packages that are compiled with definer rights (the default).  You need to grant the original schema execute privileges on the new schema's package directly.
