BOM Question

Hello Guru,
I want to ask some more information with regards to BOM, since we would like to have develop a new report for a BOM. But there were three field i did not yet know where it was been maintained in the BOM, never been seen values of it when checking CS03. Hope you could guide me where to look at the BOM for the 3 field and how could i will make it populated when doing a new BOM for my data, i will mentioned below: i know the table to look for it was STPO, but i want to see this field in the BOM itself.
1. Operational LT Offset - STPO-NLFZV
2. Prod. Stor.loc - STPO-LGORT
3. Costingrelevancy - STPO-SANKA
Thanks for the help

Dear,
In CS03 transaction after entering Plant/Material/Usage and alternate BOM details, click the Item Icon. You would now be in BOM display. Now select the Items and click details button or double click near the item number area. You would now be in Item level details.
Here in the first tab (Basic Data) you can find
1. Operational LT Offset - STPO-NLFZV
and in the next tab(status/Lng Text) you can find
2. Prod. Stor.loc - STPO-LGORT
3. Costingrelevancy - STPO-SANKA

  • Sales BOM question

I have an issue with Sales BOM's.  When in Order Entry,  I see 2 lines,  the first line is the Saleable Item and the Second line is the Component Item(s). The person entering the Order accidently entered a quantity on the component line and then went back and put the correct Quantity to Order on the Saleable Item line.  When the Order was invoiced,  the Incorrect quantity,  the quantity on the component line updated Inevntory.  Is there a way to a) Either NOT display the component line on the Order Entry screen, or b) Lock the Component Quantity field from being entered?   I checked the Check box on the BOM screen to NOT  print the Component Item on the Marketing deocuments,  but how can or is there a way to lock down then fields on the Component line?
    Thanks in advance!!
    Dana

Just came across this old topic. I think the answer to question A) ["Is there a way to a) Either NOT display the component line on the Order Entry screen..."] can be found in transaction VOV8 for the sales document-type involved: field "Display Range" has value "UALL" for standard order type "OR", which means it will show all items, including sub-items.
When changing this to value "UHAU" you should only see the main BOM item, not the derived components from the explosion.
    (Allowed field values are:
    - UALL    All items
    - UHAU    Main items
    - UMAR    Selected items)
SAP Documentation on this customizing field (TVAK-UMFNG):
    Display Range
Specifies the kinds of items that the system automatically displays during document processing.
    Use
You can specify, for example, that the system displays only main items and that it suppresses those items that are dependent on others. In this case, you can still enter dependent items in the document. However, the system does not display them.

  • DP-BOM questions

    Hi,
I have the following questions in DP-BOM:
    1. Using DP-BOM, I know that I can forecast for a finished good in grid one and then display the dependent demand in grid 2 using DP-PPM/PDS. If I have independent demand and show the statistical output in the Grid2 along with the dependent demand, then how do I do this?
One thought I have is to have a second data view(in the same planning book) with independent components forecast and have a macro at the planning book level that looks up these values from that data view and showup in the first data view. Then have another macro add up the dependent and independent demands? Please correct me if my thought is wrong and if there is another standard way of doing it.
    2. If the finished good demand is forecasted and  released to SNP. Then the SNP uses SNP PPM/PDS to explode and generate dependent requirements. Wha tis the use of using DP-BOM? I mean where do we use these dependent and independent demands? Is it for the demand planner's reference?
    3. Selecting Dp-BOM relevent adds four additional characteristics 9AMATNR, 9ABOMIO, 9ABOMID AND 9APPM. I dont have system in and but just want to know what 9ABOMIO stand for?
    Thanks.

    Hi Somnath,
Thanks for the reply. I understand the concept. My question is how to do it in the system. I am having 2 grids in the data view with upper grid having details on finished product and the bottom grid has details on both dependent and independent demands. When I forecast the finished product, I select a forecasting model.I may not have to select the same model for forecasting the independent demand as well. As I understand, it is only one selection profile that is used in the interactive planning screen for this whole planning(?). I can assign only one forecasting profile at a time to the same selection profile.
Finally my question is how to do forecasting for finished and independent demands in the same planning screen. These two may always have different history and forecasting models..
I am not sure if I am clear. Please let me know.
    Thanks.

  • Follow-up question on BOM production and consumption of same item

Awhile back, I asked the question about whether it made sense to have a BOM structured to simultaneously produce and consume an item.  BOM that needs to produce and consume same component
Thanks for the help and it does what I thought it should.  We have a local difference of opinion on the consumption of primary components, though.  To attempt to ensure that we account for the bleed-off of materials into a vacuum system, we set up a BOM like this
    Material A    498.379
    Material B    332.253
    Material C     14.914
    Material D     22.371
    Material E     64.317
    Material F    103.570
Material F     -35.804  (This is the quantity vacuumed away, treated as by-product.)
to cover a recipe card structured like this
    Material A    481.150
    Material B    320.775
    Material C     14.400
    Material D     21.600
    Material E     62.100
    Material F     100.00
The difference of opinion is whether to recognize the reclaimed material (Material F) at all on the BOM, with a minority saying that we will not consume (and therefore not order) enough of materials A through E.  They say that "you have to put the same amount of good ingredients in as you produce because it's a closed loop system".
So the other approach would be a BOM like this
    Material A    534.252
    Material B    357.852
    Material C     15.840
    Material D     23.760
    Material E     68.310
The  material reclaimed (Material F) is sourced not only from this particular vacuum system, but from other vacuum systems outside the blending operation.
It seems to me that the first approach is correct, because we recognize consumption and production of the reclaimed item, and proportionately increase the component items to recognize that more are needed than will go out as good product.  Even the reclaim becomes reclaim.  The amounts vacuumed off seem to be consistent at 3.57%.
    Which approach is correct?

Thank you for the reply.  The reclaimed material can be as much as 11% of the total material made.  Last year, over one million kilograms were worked back into the product as reclaim, and the metals are somewhat expensive (not like precious metals, but they are not trivial, either).
Accuracy versus precision is always something to consider, but I think it's important enough to follow, especially because it is sourced from several processes.  The sourcing from the other sources means that the reclaimed material from those sources has already been reported as production of the primary product which consumes the virgin materials, so I think it should be re-introduced into the flow as a separate item (Material F)
The primary argument I want to settle is the business about how we won't order enough component materials if we use the BOM that shows simultaneous production and consumption.  I think under the approach in which we ignore the reclaim, we will consume more components from the backflush location than we physically use and would then order too much material because of using a BOM that pulls only virgin materials.

  • BOM:  Variable-size item  Question

    Hi,
As you all know, we can set the item category as <b>R: Variable-size</b> item in BOM when creating or editing BOM via Tcode CS01, CS02,
My question is, when we need to use Variable-size item, what's its main fuctions? could you please give me an example?
    Thanks and best regards.

This item category is used for components that are cut to size. If you assign a material with this item category to an activity , you must also enter data for the item. The system then calculates the necessary variable-size item quantity. Otherwise processing is as for item category L.
Example: Variable-Size Item Data for a Sheet of Metal
    Size             dimension          Entry      Size unit
    1                 Lenght             200         MM
    2                  Width             300          MM
If you do not enter a formula, the system calculates the quantity for the variable-size item according to the standard formula:
    Size 1 * Size 2
The result has the dimension area:
    200 MM * 300 MM = 60,000 MM2 (square millimeters)
The variable-size item unit must have the dimension area (MM2, CM2, or M2) or you must maintain conversion factors in the material master record.
In the customizing of Bill of materials you must maintain the formula key for variable size item category for R.
The variable-size item quantity is used for calculating raw material requirements:
    Raw material requirement =
Number of variable-size items * Variable-size item quantity * Required quantity
    Base quantity

  • LO-VC BOM Quantity explosion question

    Hi SAP Guru's,
I have a special request from my client where they would like to explode a bill of material but subtract the final Qty based upon the Sales Order quanity.
    For example
    Top Level Product (BOM)
         Component:  12345   Qty. 1
If I place and order for "Top Level Product" for a Qty of 10 pcs, the BOM component value should explode as 9
Here is what I have done as a test.
    1.  Created a new characterisic as: QUANTITY referencing STPO-MENGE.
    2.  Created a dependency:  $SELF.QUANTITY = -1 (What this did was if the order was for 10pcs, the actual Componet value would then translate to -10.
    3.  Tried another dependency: $SELF.QUANTITY = Sales_ORDER_LINE_QTY -1.   IF I updated the BOM - CS02 to reflect a Fixed Qty or RC29P-FMENG = 'X' this process worked well.
My first question is there an simple way to write the dependency so if I used $SELF.QUANTITY would give me the correct result = 9 for the component BOM?
Or is there a reference table and field that I could use in the CT04 characteristic that will automatically populate the Sales Order line item Qty?   I tried multiple fields, but none worked:  RCUKO - MENGE, VBAP-KMPMG and RV45A-KWMENG.
    Thankyou

Not answered, just moved the question to the SD forum.  THanks.

  • Question on costing BOM

    Dear all,
I have a question on BOM Usage Type. We know that when the BOM Usage Type is 1 (Production) and when we have different alternative BOM's, Alternative BOM's are picked up by the Production version (based on lot size and other criteria).
    Now the Question is:
When the BOM Usage Type is 6 (costing) and there are several alternatives BOM present for the same header material, where and how exactly are the alternative BOM's used in Costing. Because when the BOM usage type is 6 (costing), it will be not considered for the production but only considered for Costing. So the use of Prouduction version will not be there as there wont be any master recipe for production.
So similar to production version, there should be something which will pick up the alternative BOM for costing purpose. Please let me know on the same. It will also be great if a SAP help link on the same is shared.
    Regards,
    Brijesh

    Hi,
    check the following
While doing the costing run, SAP checks if you have maintained the "Production version to be considered for costing" MARC-FVIDK field in Costing View. It will use this Prodn Version for cost estimate.
If you have not maintained the production version field, then it will use the values maintained in the "Quantity structure data" section on costing view. I.e. it will use the BOM alternative. and recipe information from here.
If you have not maintained above values then system picks up the first BOM alternative (MAST table) and first recipe information (MAPL table) it finds for the material-plant combination.
Also according to my knowledge SAP cannot decide the Lot Size for Prodn Version while doing the costing run. You need to tell the system what data to be used for costing.
While standard cost estimate, In CK11n screen at Quantity structure tab you can choose, the required BOM and routing combination.
Like this you can have cost estimates for different combinations. But you can release only one.
    regards
    Venkat V

  • BOM Delivery Question

Hello! I have researching a support ticket regarding a BOM Sales Order and I am still learning about this part of the system. The issue or question I am researching is that a sales order was created with a BOM and the components had the same delivery group. The person was able to create a delivery for one of the items and do a Post Goods Issue. The person who has posed this question thought that the items had to be delivered together since they belong to the same delivery group. Is this correct? I have done several searches and am unable to find an answer.
    Thanks!

Don't need the answer to this anymore.

  • Transfer posting for sales order stock questions. Propose BOM components?

    Hello
We are working with a third party subcontracting scenario (SD item category TAB/sched line CB), where a Subcontracting PO (item cat L/acc assign M) gets generated.
At MB1B, I perform a 412E movement to issue components to a sales order.
When I issue components to the sales order, I need to manually enter the component and quanity. I would like the system to propose the component quantity, similar to when I do a movement 541 to a subcontractor.
Is this possible? Any advice would be greatly appreciated !!!
    Regards
    Ken

    Hi
Goto  Transaction Code, VOV6--> Choose Sch.Line catagory, CB> Go in to detail--
    >There you maintain  PR Doc.Type as NB, Acc.***.Catagory as "M"  and Itemcatagory as "L",then after completing the sale order, Automatically PR will be created  with item cat L  and acc assign M ....
Then create PO by refering this PR...
(Before that make sure that you have maintained the link bet. Acc.***.Catagory as "M"  and Itemcatagory as "L" in  OLME-->Accout Assignment--
    > Define combination of Acc.***.Catagory and Item catagory
and also In OLME-->Purchase Requisition---->Define document types  -
    >you have to maintain the link for converting this PR into PO...)
If you have already maintained BOM, then in PO---> Material data tab---> the BOM will be automatically exploded.
Then you can issue these items to SC Vendor in Transaction code. ME2O
Hope I have cleared your doubts
    Reward if useful

  • Question on Exploded BOM when copy the contract.

    Hi ,
I have a contract xyz with BOM main component material and sub components materials.
when i create contract XYZ,sub component materials are hide, if i save the contract and open the contract those subcomponents materials will open (explode) and show in the screen.
Now I try to create a contract (type Zxx  ) with a contract reference (type Zxx ) .For now I have an issue because in my new contract the system re-explode the BOM which I donu2019t want.
Please guide me how to overcome this problem.
    Thanks

    Hi,
and also please check the Item category for that document type
In item category also we can maintain BOM details

  • Message type BOMMAT (change BOM)

    Hello Guru,
I have some question and need help, when i try a standard transaction CS02, try to change a BOM material existing for example, the base quantity of the BOM was 650, i enter new data as 655, but suddenly retain the original Qty as 650 and save the changes as SAP will accept the changes i've done (BOM for material 2456 changed) but eventual i have not change any value to the original BOM. SO it mean this is standard SAP funtionality for CS02.
But when we use an interface using message type BOMMAT a standard SAP message tpye, we have created an IDOC using this message type and same data as the original was maintain to it, to be more exact we plan to change a BOM thru this IDOC but all the data we have is the same value of the original BOM, so we expect no error could be encounter of this IDOC since in standard CS02, changing of BOM even same value was inidicated did not had error message encountered when saving.
But thru our process, when we try to process the IDOC with message type BOMMAT in program RBDAPP01 (BD20) the idoc did not pass it when into status 51(Error when saving BOM. Please see the application log.) and when we check the BOM it has duplicate value upon executing the program we able to fix it when we delete the duplicate line segment in the IDOC and reprocess it once again.
my question is why in standard message type BOMMAT had encountered error when processing when we try to make change of BOM even the same value is carried out by the IDOC, and why in standard CS02 saving a change of BOm with same value as it is SAP accept the process? Please help and clear the process.
    Any inputs R.Brahamankar and Vivek

  • Questions about Using APIs to import Bills and Routings - AND COSTS

Hi Forum - the following is a back-and-forth with a customer about use of APIs - Inventory developer suggested I post the question here. Note the 2nd question - and thanks for any assistance.
    SR# 7332152.994 ALCOA
    Instructions given to ct:
Q1 - Can I load the bill header and components at the same time?
You should be able to load the bill header and components at the same time. Customer loads bill and component data inserting enough "other" data for each so that the bill sequence id will be derived. For the component record, the assembly item, org and alternate_bom_designator values will be used by BMCOIN to derive the bill_sequence_id.
    Example:
    INSERT INTO BOM_BILL_OF_MTLS_INTERFACE
    ORGANIZATION_CODE,
    ITEM_NUMBER,
    ALTERNATE_BOM_DESIGNATOR,
    PROCESS_FLAG,
    TRANSACTION_TYPE
    VALUES
    'M1',
    '&PARENT_ITEM',
    NULL,
    '1',
    'CREATE'
    INSERT INTO BOM_INVENTORY_COMPS_INTERFACE b
    ORGANIZATION_CODE,
    ASSEMBLY_ITEM_NUMBER,
    ALTERNATE_BOM_DESIGNATOR,
    COMPONENT_ITEM_NUMBER,
    OPERATION_SEQ_NUM,
    COMPONENT_QUANTITY,
    EFFECTIVITY_DATE,
    PROCESS_FLAG,
    TRANSACTION_TYPE
    VALUES
    'M1',
    '&PARENT_ITEM',
    NULL,
    '&COMPONENT_ITEM',
    1,
    1,
    trunc(SYSDATE),
    1,
    'CREATE'
Hi Aruna, some additional information that may be useful:
We can load/create the bill header and components at the same time using the scripts given (as above)
Required Data for Creating a Routing : assembly_item_id,
    organization_id, routing_type, transaction_type, process_flag
And following scripts can be used to load routing header and operations equences.
    INSERT INTO BOM_OP_ROUTINGS_INTERFACE
    (assembly_item_id,
    organization_id,
    routing_type,
    transaction_type,
    process_flag)
    VALUES (2255800,207,1,'Create',1);
    INSERT INTO BOM_OP_SEQUENCES_INTERFACE
    (assembly_item_id,
    organization_id,
    operation_seq_num,
    Department_code,
    effectivity_date,
    transaction_type,
    process_flag,
    operation_description)
    VALUES
    (2255800,207,100,'ASSEMBLY',
    to_date('24-FEB-2009'),'Create',1,
    'Paint Wagon');
Q2: One more question, can an expense item can be added to the bill and can contribute the cost.
As there is a confusion of what I asked, below I am rephrasing my question
By an Expense Inventory Item, I mean an item that is just tracked for quantity only i.e.,Checking the attributes - Inventory Item, Stockable, Transactable under Inventory Tab and not checking the attribute - 'Inventory Asset Value'.
My question here is, For these Expense Inventory Items, What is the difference between having the 'Costing enabled' attribute turned ON as opposed to having it UNCHECKED
*Q3 I have tried to load the items and I could only load 1st level of components but could not load second level of bom at the same time.
While inserting I have inserted plan level too.
Please let me know if I have to do anything different to load second level.*
    Thanks
    James

You may want to look at using the more4apps bill of materials wizard, an excel based solution for uploading assemblies and their components.

  • VC - Report for charateristics with their corresponding BOM components?

In our company, we define our finished products as configuration material. That means we have
used the variant configuration(VC) in SAP.
We have created super BOM for our finished products. And when our sellers create sales order
in SAP ,they will choose the configuration, and after they choose that, the BOM for production
    will be formed.
For example, just like computer as finished products ,customer may choose different
configurations. For example ,hard disk ,customer may choose 120G or 200G.
In SAP ,to realise that ,we will create one charateristic as HARD DISK, and it has two
    characteristic values:120G and 200G.
And in our super BOM for computer ,we will write object dependency(OD) for two components:
one is 120G hard disk material,we may write :TZ_HARD_DISK = '120G' ; the other is 200G hard disk material ,we may write: TZ_HARD_DISK = '200G". That means when customer create a order and choose 120G hard disk ,the 120G hard disk material will be a component in the BOM,and the 200G hard disk wiil not be a component in the BOM.
My question is that there is correspondence relationship between charateristic and BOM component(object dependency as link), can we get a report or a list to show all the charateristic with their corresponding BOM components?
By use CT11(find characteristics in object dependency) and CU04 (find object dependency with BOM component),we could find BOM component once a time.
So there is a report to show all the charateristic with their corresponding BOM components?
By ABAP development? Or there is standard report? Or ther is third party tools?
    Thanks for any reply!

Are there any other experts who are reach in the Variant Configuration of SAP know?
If there is a report to show all the charateristic of Variant Configuration with their corresponding BOM components?
We are looking for the standard report.
By use CT11(find characteristics in object dependency) and CU04 (find object dependency with BOM component),we could find BOM component once a time.
Are there another TCODE or programme like CT11 but can find many characteristics in object dependency) once a time?By now ,use CT11, we only can find one characteristics in object dependency once a time?
Only by ABAP development? Or there is standard report? Or ther is third party tools?

  • BOM Production in Sale Order

    Hi all,
I have a finished good is ABC, strategy is 20 (make to order).
I have a variant for ABC, the quantity of components in ABC is 1 pc. When I create a Sale order, I have to choose some characterristics. It depend on requirement of customer. I can see cost estimate in cost report function of Sale Order and inform to customer. My question is "if I change the quantiy of component in ABC is 2 or 3 pc, the cost estimate will be change?"
If not? how i see the cost of order after change component in BOM.
    Thanks all

    Dear,
I have noy fully understood your question. What I understood is you have created Sales order and then you chnaged the BOM qty of sales order BOM. Will it chnage the  cost estimation?
It depends. If you have chnaged the BOM after sales order is created, if you go for recost run, it may change. and you may get the correct cost.
    Are you looking for this?

  • Questions on C-Folders

    Hello All,
Here are my questions on C-Folders. Thanks in advance.
    C-Folder questions:
    1. Does a Functionality exist like u2018copy with referenceu2019 in C-Folders for objects. While I was testing I can copy objects (materials, documents) and paste them in same or different folders (within same or different collaborations). But they donu2019t have any relationship whatsoever even if after copy they have the same name.
    2. Am I correct to say that during Copy of Materials, BOMs, Documents  etc the u2018Alias information of backend sytemu2019 is lost. Is there a way to prevent this.
    3. How to perform cut and paste a object from one folder to another folder (in same or different collaboration) without loosing backend Alias information.
    4. When I am importing or exporting Materials and BOMs, it is Automatically creating one new version for material, and in case of BOM is creating 2 new versions (both look exactly the same). Is this Standard ?. If this is Standard, how do I do BOM comparison, how will I know which versions to compare
    5.  While doing import of BOM from C-Folder to SAP, I could not create BOM alternatives. Is this standard. I tried to do first import and entered Alternative 1 (in CFI02) and second import and entered BOM alternative (2) in CFI02, but it did not create Alternative and just overwrite Alternative 1
    6.  When I import materials from C-Folders to SAP, I can only create basic data1,2 views. I cant create Plant specific views. This creates problem and issues an error when I am trying to import Plant specific BOMs which uses materials which donu2019t exist in SAP.
    Thanks,
    Sachin

    Hi,
may be a bit late the answer to (some) of your questions:
    1. Does a Functionality exist like u2018copy with referenceu2019 in C-Folders for objects. While I was testing I can copy objects (materials, documents) and paste them in same or different folders (within same or different collaborations). But they donu2019t have any relationship whatsoever even if after copy they have the same name.
    No, it does not exist.
    2. Am I correct to say that during Copy of Materials, BOMs, Documents etc the u2018Alias information of backend sytemu2019 is lost. Is there a way to prevent this.
Not sure about this one. But I guess you tested it out, and logically it also makes sens, since the Alias information is used in backend integration.
    3. How to perform cut and paste a object from one folder to another folder (in same or different collaboration) without loosing backend Alias information.
    See above.
    4. When I am importing or exporting Materials and BOMs, it is Automatically creating one new version for material, and in case of BOM is creating 2 new versions (both look exactly the same). Is this Standard ?. If this is Standard, how do I do BOM comparison, how will I know which versions to compare
Yes, this is standard for the initial BOM export, actually in order to directly see the delta if someone updates version 2 on cFolders. If you re-export later, only one new version is added.
I see. I think this is a bug, worth an error message.
    6. When I import materials from C-Folders to SAP, I can only create basic data1,2 views. I cant create Plant specific views. This creates problem and issues an error when I am trying to import Plant specific BOMs which uses materials which donu2019t exist in SAP.
The BOM import also creates plant data / storage view for component materials in case you have a plant assigned to the newly created material on cFolders. So your statement is wrong. Verified in the system. Plant-specific BOM import works perfectly also with new component materials added.
