Bookmarks using custom Word Styles

Hello:
I have created a Word Document (Microsoft Office Word 2007) with styles that I would like to use as (nestled) Bookmarks in my PDF document.  I am using Adobe Acrobat 9 standard.  I have been successful with this template in earlier versions of these programs.
When I create the PDF, the very first heading in each document  (which I have called H1 in my word document style) leaves off the first word of the heading in the created PDF document.  When I click on the Bookmark in the left column the entire heading shows.  It just is not in my PDF document and does not print the first word either.   I never had this problem with older versions of Word and Adobe.  What do I need to do to not have it drop part of my header when I make the PDF?

Thanks for the reply.  My Word document prints fine.  My PDF document drops the first part of the first heading and does not print it either.  The PDF bookmark has the complete wording of the heading so it is definately reading the word document.  Interestingly, when I removed my customized style on the word document for the header the PDF is complete.  I realize that I can then manually make the header a bookmark, but I would prefer to find out what the glitch is in creating the PDF.

  • Using custom CSS style sheet

    I'm trying to use a custom CSS style sheet and can't get it to work. I've created my stylesheet and uploaded it so it shows under Shared Components >> Cascading Style Sheets.
    Viewing the source for my pages currently shows a reference to what I guess is the default style sheet -
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="/i/css/apex_3_1.css" type="text/css" />But no reference to the one I uploaded. So I guess I need to add a new reference pointing to my sheet.
    So questions would be -
    - How and where do I add this reference?
    - Is this the correct way to do things if I want to use my own styles?

    Antilles,
    Go to your Shared Components > Temples > Select the page template you wish to apply your CSS to and in the "Header" area you will see references to the APEX CSS, something like,
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="#IMAGE_PREFIX#themes/theme_17/theme_3_1.css" type="text/css" />Now, just add your CSS reference after any APEX CSS references.
    Hope this helps.

  • Create Bookmarks from Word Styles on Mac

    With the noticeable absence of PDFMaker for word on the mac creating bookmarked pdfs from word styles seems to be either impossible or less than straightforward on the Mac platform. Does have a solution for how to do this?

    It amazes me that the product is sold for Mac but has reduced functionality. The price is the same as for PC and the customer is not informed about this reduced functionality.  This is concerning from a business integrity point of view.  Had I known about this reduced functionality, I would not have purchased the software. This does not provide me with any more functionality that the Send to PDF function that comes with Microsoft automatically.
    I recommend that Adobe  a) Inform purchasers of the product for MAC of this decreased functionality in the process of purchasing, like a warning that the customer must acknowledge and b) reduce the price of the product for MAC as a result of the decreased functionality and c) initiate engineering to correct the problem immediately.  Mac's are not going away, they are increasing in popularity, and as such, the software must adapt.  Alternatively Adobe should refund the cost of the software.

    The font is set the file "/OracleBI/oc4j_bi/j2ee/home/applications/analytics/analytics/res/s_oracle10/b_mozilla_4/views.css"

  • Is there a way of using a mail merge function while on the iphone or ipad, i wish to email a "Word style, ot TXT" document to 250 of my contacts

    Is there a way of using a mail merge function while on the iphone or ipad, i wish to email a "Word style, ot TXT" document to 250 of my contacts, I have tried downloading my contacts to my PC's outlook but only 1 contact comes across at a time despite the fact that Icloud says downloading namedperson + 249 other contacts to a CSV file

    Hi everyone!
    Looking also for an app that allows me to merge email and send them out to each recipient individually. Apparently that's not possible yet. Here's what the guys at RedbitsApps told me about Group Email capabilities:
    "The current version of the app relies on the device operating system to send the emails. For this reason, sending individual email instead of a single email to multiple recipients is not possible. Apple doesn't allow apps to send single emails to many recipients easily. We may use a custom sending software in a future version."
    Let's keep looking guys...

  • Custom heading-styles using h1 , h2 , etc. tags

    Hi!
    I tried to create custom styles for headings which should then be readable by a screenreader.
    My custom headings could not be read by a screenreader, word however displayed them correctly.
    After I converted one document with custome headings and one with the predefined heading styles to html, I found an explanation. Custom headings are just a new CSS-class with the name of the style. In my example:
    <p class=customhead1>Test1</p>
    <p class=customhead1>Test2</p>
    Using predefined heading styles resulted in:
    <h1>Test1</h1>
    <h1>Test2</h1>
    Is there any way to force word to use the <h1>, <h2>, etc. tags on custome styles?
    Thank you very much and all the best,
    Boris

    I'm afraid yes you will need to apply all the settings again, I can't think of an other way.
    Note that Find and Replace (Ctrl+H) can be used to replace a style with another style (or direct formatting with a style).

  • My table of contents does not use the entry style I select for words in the paragraph that have character styles applied to them in the chapter, so some of the letters are showing up as green, which is fine in the chapter but not in the TOC.

    My table of contents does not use the entry style I select for words in the paragraph that have character styles applied to them in the chapter, so some of the letters, specifically parameters, are showing up green, which is fine in the chapter but not in the TOC. I can manually fix this in the TOC by changing the character style to none after the toc  has been generated, but I don't want to do this.

    What application are you running? Please ask this in the forum of the product you're using.

  • Problem with span style in javamail if html is created using ms word.

    I am using microsoft word to create the html which acts as a html template.
    Following code gets created for image part in html.
    <p class=MsoNormal><img width=390 height=200 id="_x0000_i1025"
    src="http://imagesource/test.gif"><b><i style='mso-bidi-font-style:
    normal'><span style='color:red'>Testing</span></i><span style='color:red'> </span></b></p>
    I am reading this file in stringbuffer sb and sending using file
    msg.setDataHandler(new DataHandler(
              new ByteArrayDataSource(sb.toString(), contentType)));
    where contentType is "text/html"
    Multipart multipart = new MimeMultipart();
    multipart.addBodyPart(messageBodyPart);
    msg.setContent(multipart);
    String fromAddress = getProperty("email.fromaddress");
    InternetAddress FROM = new InternetAddress(fromAddress);
    msg.setFrom(FROM);
    InternetAddress[] addressto = {new InternetAddress(toEmailAddress)};
    msg.setRecipients(Message.RecipientType.TO, addressto);
    msg.setSubject("Test");
    Transport.send(msg);
    but in mail it gets converted to
    <p class=MsoNormal><img width=390 height=200 id="_x0000_i1025"
    src="http://imagesource/test.gif"><b><i style=''><span style=''>ATT</span></i><span style=''> </span></b></p>
    here span style is blank.
    which is avoiding colors to display.

    I am reading this file in stringbuffer sb and sending using file
    msg.setDataHandler(new DataHandler(
              new ByteArrayDataSource(sb.toString(), contentType)));
    where contentType is "text/html"
    Multipart multipart = new MimeMultipart();
    multipart.addBodyPart(messageBodyPart);First you can simplify the above to:
    messageBodyPart.setText(sb.toString(), null, "html");
    Multipart multipart = new MimeMultipart();
    multipart.addBodyPart(messageBodyPart);
    And if you're only putting one body part in the multipart, you can get rid of the
    multipart completely and use "msg.setText".
    As for your real problem, I don't know. It looks like you have a mix of single and double
    quotes in your message, perhaps that's part of the problem? Print out the string you've
    constructed before you send it to make sure it really has all the correct text.

  • Using custom style sheet for UI  presentations

    Hi...
    is there a possibility to use custom stylesheets for UI presentations in BPM ???
    if so how do i link the custom stylesheet to my workspace so that i get the desired output on my UI screens.
    The only style sheet i see fro UI is fo_style.css

    You first will need to import the CSS file into your project. You do this by right clicking on the webResources folder located under the WebRoot branch of your project tree. This will present a short menu to you, and one of the options is Import Resources. Browse to your CSS file and click Open.
    Next you need to open your ALBPM Presentation and open the Properties window. Set the CSS Support property to True, and then select the imported CSS file under the CSS Filename property.

  • Using Custom Styles for Levels in Outline View

    How do you associate different levels in the Outline View with custom styles? By default they are associated with Heading 1, Heading 2, etc.
    Thanks!
    Bobby

    Styles apparently have a hidden "my associated outline level is #" property. However you have to start with a style that has this hidden property set as there seems to be +no way+ to access or change this property yourself (This is unusually poor interface design from Apple - they've traditionally been better than that.)
    You essentially need to use only the names "Heading 1", "Heading 2", etc, for styles associated with outline levels, and you can't create these styles yourself. You can change the formating of these styles in the normal way: Start with a paragraph formatted using "Heading #", changing the outline level to the appropriate one, manually change the text to look the way you want, select the new formatted outline level paragraph, and do "redefine style with selection". You can't just apply another style, it over-writes the hidden outline level # property with its own, usually "body", making it really difficult to add an outline to an existing document - you have to re-create all the styles.
    You can have mutliple styles that apply at the same level by doing the same as above, but instead of redefining the appropriate "level #" heading do "Create new paragraph style from selection". (You have to name it something other than "Heading #").
    Applying this style gives a paragraph the associated outline level as well. Unfortunately, if you promote or demote an "outline level #" tagged paragraph, its hidden "outline level #" property is changed and the new style will always become the "Heading #" style associated with the hidden "outline level #" property. There is no memory of where it came from, of course, so if returned to its original outline level, it looses the "custom named style". There is no way to tell Pages that it should choose your custom named style by default instead of the "Header #" style for a given outline level. I can see no reason Pages couldn't do this too.
    I have a complicated document that was written with consistent styles for headers, and now want to use the outline feature. I have to literally recreate all the heading styles from scratch. I can then do "select all instances" for my former styles and then click on the "Heading #" style reformatted as a copy, changing them to exactly what they were before, except with the new mandated name and the one magic hidden property changed.
    There is also some weird behavior used to hide unused "Heading #" styles: You can see evidence of this if you repeatedly demote an outline paragraph; the extra heading styles automatically appear in the style draw. Then if you then repeatedly promote the same outline paragraph, these intermediate styles go away. How that works without loosing user-defined styles with the same name I have no idea.

  • Headings are getting bookmarked while importing word document to Robohelp 9

    HI everyone. Easter wishes in advance.
    I have a problem while importing word document to Robohelp.
    Version - MS Word 2010
    Robohelp 9
    While I import word document to Robohelp after mapping styles, my heading styles are getting tagged as bookmarks in RH.
    I have customized word template along with customized RH css.
    How can I prevent the headings (all the heading level used in a document) getting tagged as bookmark after I import word docs to RH.
    If there is no solution is there any solution to remove bookmarks at one go from RH.
    Help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    The quickest way to resolve this is to create a new project and import a document that causes this problem. Zip up the project and document and send it to me via my site so that I can take a look.
    You can strip out any confidential content and it only needs to be a document short enough to show the problem.

  • Bookmarks based on Word Headings lose the level number

    I have used Acrobat Pro 8 successfully for several years to create PDFs of Word 2003 documents with bookmarks based on Word Headings and custom styles.
    Occasionally a level number was missing from a bookmark but it was easy to correct the PDF. I'm still using the same software but now I find that level numbers are missing for all level 1 headings and many for levels 2 and 3 - too many to correct in the PDFs. I have checked and reset the conversion settings for bookmarks and also tried different combinations but the missing levels are not restored.
    Does anyone know of a workaround?

    Have you tried an update of both Acrobat and WORD. Sometimes WORD has issues and gets updated, not just Acrobat. It may be that you got a recent MS update to WORD that broke things.

  • Tutorial:  Creating, saving and re-using Custom Shapes

    I've beeen experimenting with custom shapes for the last couple of days, and thought I'd share some of the tips and techniques I found.
    First of all, what are custom shapes?
    Well, they're vector objects.  That means that they are not built out of millions of individual pixels (like images are), but rather they're a series of mathematical statements that describe how to draw a line from point to point to create the vector shape.  This means that custom shapes are "resolution independent", and that they can be grossly shrunk or enlarged and still retain razor sharp edges, curves and corners.
    What are custom shapes good for?
    Pretty much anything where you want to use a good, sharp object.  In particular, using a custom shape as a clipping mask for an image that's been placed as a Smart Object is an outstanding technique, and really shows off the power that PSE is capable of.
    PSE comes with a lot of ready-to-use custom shapes for its Custom Shape tool, and there are probably hundreds of thousands available on the Web -- just search for "photoshop shapes".  Typically, those shapes will be supplied as Adobe CSH (Custom SHape) files, and simply copying the CSH files into the
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\Presets\Custom Shapes"
    directory will make them available for use with the Custom Shape tool.
    Sooner or later, though, you'll get the itch to create your own custom shapes.  Out of the box, PSE does not have the capability to let you create custom shapes and add them to the CSH files like the "big" Photoshop does, so we'll need to use a workaround:  store your custom shapes as layers in a PSD file, and when you want to use them simply copy them into your image.
    N.B.:  To create custom shapes you'll have to use the reasonably priced Elements+ add-in:
    http://elementsplus.net/
    So, the procedure goes like this:
    Create a new image, using the PSE defaults, and save it as "CustomShapes01.psd", keeping it open.
    Open an image containing an object that you want to use as a custom shape.
    Use any of the selection tools to make an accurate selection of the object:
    In the Effects panel, use the Elements+...Paths effect and choose the Create New Path...From Current Selection:
    Use the Elements+...Paths again, choosing "Convert to Shape", giving it a name and colour of your choosing.  This will create a Shape Layer using that name.
    Important:  If your shape has "holes",
    use the Shape Selection tool and click on the shape to select it.  Then hit the "Combine" button in the Options Bar.  This will combine all the individual shapes used to create the shape and its "holes" into one shape, and prevent beaucoup problems later.
    Switch to the Move tool and drag the shape onto the tab of your "CustomShapes01.psd" image, keeping your mouse button pressed.  That image will become activated and you can move your cursor onto the image itself and drop your shape onto it.  Your PSD file will now have your custom shape as a shape layer:
    Save that "CustomShapes01.psd" file.
    You can repeat the process for as many custom shapes as you want, and they will each become a layer in the "CustomShapes01.psd" file.
    To use your custom shape, open the "CustomShapes01.psd" file and your target image and do the drag and drop with the Move tool to copy the custom shape onto your target image.
    I mentioned that using a custom shape as a clipping mask for an image placed as a Smart Object is a very powerful technique.  It's powerful because the custom shape can be altered at any time and still keep its sharpness, and because the Smart Object can also be resized without becoming pixellated.  Of course, that custom shape layer can have any number of layer styles applied to it and those layer styles will "follow" the shape if the shape is moved, resized or rotated.
    Here are three examples of using the custom shapes as clipping masks for Smart Objects:
    In this example, each custom shape is used as a clipping mask for an image Smart Object, as usual:
    Here, one custom shape was used as a clipping mask for an image Smart Object and they were linked.
    Then the shape and image were duplicated and moved, rotated and resized.  Because of the linking, the Smart Object automatically kept its orientation and size relative to the custom shape throughout:
    If you want to use custom shapes as a "combined" clipping mask, the procedure is a little more complicated because you need to get all your custom shapes on one shape layer.
    So, after copying your shapes into the target image (as separate shape layers), use the Shape Selection tool to select one of the shapes.  Using Edit...Cut will cut that shape layer to the Clipboard, and you can select one of the other shape layers and use Edit...Paste to paste the custom shape into that shape layer.  Repeat as necessary, and you will get all of your custom shapes on one shape layer.  Then use that single shape layer as your clipping mask:
    The neat thing is that the individual shapes can be selected with the Shape Selection tool and independently moved, resized or rotated as necessary.
    Enjoy!
    Ken

    Thanks, Michel.
    I forgot to mention one point about copying shape layers into one shape layer:  when you initially use the Shape Selection tool to select a shape for cutting, make sure the option for the Shape Selection tool is set to "Add to Selection".

  • Word styles not appearing in Print Document Appearance dialog

    My custom list styles in Style Mapping.dot are not appearing in the Print Document Appearance dialog when I try to map CSS styles to Word styles.
    The styles do appear in the template when I open it in Word. They appear in the styles task pane whether I select "In current document" or "In use" in the Style Pane Options dialog in Word. The styles have the same name (such as "Bullet" or "Number") in Word as the CSS styles in RoboHelp.
    I tried saving Style Mapping.dot as .dotx, thinking that RoboHelp 8 might work better with the current template type, but no help. I tried adding the template to the same folder as the Normal.dotm template is in and opening it there. No improvement.
    Oddly, the built-in Word styles List, List 2, & etc and List Continue and its series appear in the Robo dialog, but the styles List Bullet and others in that series do not appear.
    I suppose I could modify the list styles that do appear in Robo and map them to my CSS list styles, but that feels a bit like a desperate kluge.
    Does anyone know what might be wrong, either with my Word template or with Robo, that might be causing what seem to be perfectly good Word styles to not present themselves for mapping?
    Thanks again,
    John

    Peter,
    I think your discussion of this problem could explain the situation and propose a workaround more simply than it does.
    Based on your article, I assumed that Robo displays only the built in Word list styles such as List and List Continue (since those were the only styles showing up in the style mapping dialog and since your example shows matching a Robo style named List Mapping to a Word built in style named List). I assumed I would have to match my Bullet style to a style named List in Word, and match the indented bullet style to List 2, and so on. The actual situation is that Robo, for some godforsaken reason that only idiots would understand, will not show a Word style if any numbering (bullets or numbers) is applied to it. That is, one does not have to avoid a class of styles called “List styles”, one only has to avoid applying numbering to the styles until later.
    Thus the workaround is to create the word styles (with names that match the Robo styles!) that contain every attribute you need EXCEPT the numbering. That is, I can link Bullet to Bullet and Number to Number and Indented Number to Indented Number, and so on and on, as long as I have all the Word styles in the template with their numbering set to None.
    Then after I generate the document, I can modify the styles to add the appropriate numbering, and voila!
    Currently scrolling the doc & modifying styles. Might be a glimpse of daylight.
