Bootloader pauses before counting down on UEFI motherboard

Hi,
I recently installed Arch Linux on my new computer and, strangely, the computer freezes for a moment before the bootloader counts down. I'm surprised by this because before installing Arch, Windows 8 would launch within a couple of seconds (I have a SSD disk).
Here's the output of systemd-analyze:
Startup finished in 3.076s (firmware) + 11.176s (loader) + 1.477s (kernel) + 15.204s (userspace) = 30.935s
(note that the bootloader's timeout is 5 seconds, so the loader freezed more than 6 seconds.)
I've had the same issue with Gummiboot and GRUB. I'm not familiar yet with debugging/analyzing tools, could someone help me to dig into this bug?
Thanks!
Edit: maybe a useful info: my computer is a Toshiba Satellite Z30t

I guess all those entries come from the trial-and-error I went through when installing my bootloader. Could it be possible that they are responsible for my setup delay?

    I rented a Movie and it has been loading for 3 hours now. Internet connection is fine. Have never had a problem with this before. What's really annoying is that the 24 hour time limit is counting down even though we cant watch it. Any suggestions?

    The first thing to check would be your internet download speed, you can do this at www.speedtest.net.
    HD movies require a recommended speed of 6 Mbps, while SD movies require a recommended speed of 2.5 Mbps.
    Additionally, your 24 hours don't start until you begin to watch the movie, you have 30 days to start watching the movie.

  • Count down to page transition...how?

    On a self playing keynote presentation, I am pausing 4 seconds before each page transition to allow them to take in what is on the page. However, I do not want them to think the slide show is over. How do you put something on the slide to indicate there is another slide coming? I am thinking of a count down timer (4...3...2...1 next slide), but you cannot simply but that in as an element since the last element must play before the 4 second page transition starts.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Bob

    At first I thought OP reads like an oxymoron. If I get what you are saying you need to do the transition manually not using the slide to slide transition then you can do 4,3,2,1; move an object from left to right or even use this little guy:
    Depends on your chosen transition as to how acurately it can be replicated manually but there are lots of options. If you use Magic Move you could even continue to use a transition and move/dissolve/scale/rotate some objects and have others hold there position on screen.

  • How do I overlay a timer counting down on a Keynote slide?

    Hello!
    I am searching for a way (app or otherwise) to have a timer counting down while in "full screen" mode in Keynote. I am an urban educator, and I've found it very effective in having a stunning image on the smartboard via Keynote, in order to focus engagement while the students enter my classroom. I would love to also have a timer overlayed on that slide somewhere (right hand corner likely) counting down - so students know how much time they have to socilize and become situated before class "officially" begins.
    Appreciate any guidance!

    My brain got fried with all of the previous SWFLoader positioning and centering - so much that I had to stop and clear my head and then this became an easy case of putting the HGroup and the Logo inside a BorderContainer.  I had inadvertently placed the Logo inside of HBox.

  • Ipod Songs Count Down

    I don't know if this has happened to anyone but I just got my iPOD a month ago, I haven't done anything crazy with it. i just want to listen to music. I purchased the thing so I can have music while I'm traveling and now it is not working.
    Here is the problem: It just counts down the songs and doesn't play any of them. If I pick and album it counts down all the songs and stops. If I pick a playlist it does the same thing. Never playing any songs.
    Also, the camera import function is not working. I purchased a camera converter to import pictures from my Canon A80 to my ipod and its giving me an import error.

    Have you Reset the iPod? Press and hold Select and Menu for ~6 seconds.

    Did it work before?

  • When watching an item ending in ebay/firefox, the time remaining doesn't count down.

    When watching an item ending in ebay/firefox, the time remaining doesn't count down. However I'm sure it used too.

    Just an update...
    I took my computer into the Apple Store and they gave me a new battery (again).  I also erased my hard drive and reinstalled Lion.  I am still having the same problem with my battery icon not counting down (when i have the power cord unplugged).  Another thing I may have not talked about is when I unplug my power adapter from my MacBook the screen used to dim slightly,  It no longer does that. Hmm.  And yes I have checked the power settings.
    I am seeing a big difference in my new battery though.  The 6 month old battery I was using before my replacement wasn't lasting but maybe and hour before completely turning off my laptop.  SInce I got my replacement battery I am back to a regular battery life.  Maybe a couple issues going on here...
    As a fix, I purchased Battery Guard from the app store and placed the icon on my tool bar.  It actually counts down my battery life as a percentage.  So its a huge help.  I just don't know why the native Mac icon isn't working properly??  One thing I have noticed is the 3rd party app will only count down using a Percentage.  But, like the native Mac icon it will not count down using time.  Something else to add...  After using my battery, and I plug my MacBook back in, the battery icon will count up.  Kinda strange that it will count up but not down.
    Dstppy, any luck at the Apple Store?

  • Count down timer

    I need some help. I have a web site that till tell the blight
    of cats and
    dogs in shelter and rescues that have a short time to live
    before they are
    put down to make room for other stray pets.
    I need a dynamic countdown timer in black with white numbers
    that countdown
    days, hours, and minutes (possibly seconds for dramatic
    effect). Anywhere I
    can find such a movie? I found a bunch of cheesy ones online
    and a bunch
    that do way too much.
    When the rescue or shelter moves the pet to LCP status, they
    will enter a
    date into the database. I need the time to use that as the
    starting point
    and count down till that date and time arrives. I am using
    coldfusion as the
    dev coding for the site.
    Please let me know where I can find such a movie or how much
    it will cost to
    have one done.
    Thanks.

    I did a search on FlashKit for you...take a look at:

  • Pause before function

    I'm making an animation in which the user can drag an object
    (mc) and when it is released it pauses for 5 seconds and then
    begins moving...
    I had hoped to be able to simply make a function (Pause) that
    would count down the 5 seconds and then when Times >= 5 it would
    perform the move function repeatedly...
    But it's not performing the move function...I don't
    understand setInterval very well so it may be a problem with
    that...
    Here's my code....

    Hello Vapor,
    If it were me, I would probably just make that animation's mc
    start on a later frame in the timeline. Example, when a user
    released the object it tells the mc in a certain frame label to
    gotoAndPlay("frame labe"). In that mc I would have nothing for the
    first 150 frames (given if you were setting your frame rate to 30)
    then it would lead into the animation desired.
    Not sure if that is the answer you are looking for, but I
    know I sometimes over-complicate things I need done thinking there
    is a certain Actionscript code for it, and I end up wasting more
    time trying to find the answer. 150 blank frames in an animation mc
    shouldn't add much, if anything, to the overall file size of the
    swf.

  • How to change ADF default session time out behavior to count down

    the ADF default session time out will show a message before some time set in the web.xml , after this time anther alert will show the time out message.
    But our recruitment what use one message dialog first show the session will be out then count down the time at last show the session time out message.
    Dose ADF provide interface to change this ?

    Hi Sudipto:
    If using pure JS and Html I can write thousand way to implement session time out function , but we use ADF :
    ADF limit user to do a lot of thing but only use itself way , it is very hard to change its component's behavior and also hard to get doc introducing how to change its behavior though it can be change.
    So what I want to know if there any interface ADF left to change itself session time out behavior , I think your answer is no.

  • Time count down problem

    Hi,
    Please I need help with time count down display.
    I am using a state machine. In one of the cases ‘rest’ time is calculated. In the next case the vi waits for the ‘rest’ period to expire before continuing with the next case (the stop button should remain active the entire time). The ‘rest’ time count down should be displayed.
    I tried to use Elapsed Time.vi but it works properly only the first time around. Can somebody please help me? I am attaching a sample VI.
    Also how can I accomplish displaying the Program Run Time with no interruptions?
    Thank you in advance for your advice and help.

    It is because you have the Elapsed Time Timer set to Auto-Reset.  As soon as the time has elapsed, it will start counting again.
    Turn off Auto-reset.  Put a True value into a shift register in the state that leads into the DoSomething2, wire that shift register to the Reset input.  Let the default be False for all other cases of the state machine.
    Now when you get ready to go to that state, the True value placed into the shift register will reset the timer.

  • Display dialog count down in sec's

    Hey all
    I need a script that would use a display dialog to count down before next part of script runs.
    is this possible
    I need about 1 min count down in sec's

    You could put something like this in the script. I suggest adjusting the interval (perhaps to 5 seconds) as I would guess the precision will drift according to system load:
    <pre style="
    font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;
    font-size: 10px;
    margin: 0px;
    padding: 5px;
    border: 1px solid #000000;
    width: 720px;
    color: #000000;
    background-color: #FFDDFF;
    overflow: auto;">
    set theCounter to 60
    set theInterval to 1
    repeat until theCounter is 0
    display dialog "Time Remaining: " & theCounter & " seconds" as text buttons {"Wait"} giving up after theInterval
    set theCounter to theCounter - theInterval
    end repeat </pre>

  • After what seems to be a normal upgrade to the new Lion OS. My computer counted down to restart and left a white screen with only a file folder in the center of the screen with a ? in it. How do I get my screen back to normal? Jim L.

    After what seems to be a normal upgrade to the new Mountain Lion OS X on my early 2008, 24" iMac. My iMac counted down to restart but did not turn all the way off. At the end of the count down the screen went white with a small file folder flashing on and off in the center of the screen. Also there is a ?, question mark in the miaale of the file folder. The screen responds to no keyboard or mouse commands. Request help.

    My computer was doing the same as yours hinikuru but now there is a change. I turned my iMac off by the button on the back and left it off for about an hour. When I just turned it on the center Apple logo was back and soon the  loading logo for the new Mountain Lion program came up. On the bottom of the logo there is a horizontal sliding bar that says the program will take 34 minutes to load. Time will tell. I have two iMacs and if this goes we'll I will install the new Mountain  Lion tomorrow. Hinikuru, I was about to follow the information in one of the side bar blocks titled "More like this" on the right side of this screen when my iMac seemed to fix itself! Good luck. I think not all is lost.

  • Counting down to zero from a specified number

    I'm sure this is a very simple thing to do, but I can't figure out how. I want to count down from a specified number to 0, then restart counting at that orginal number. The trick is that I need it to place it in a case structure, and have it restart counting when it switches states (i.e. from TRUE to FALSE and vice versa).
    Example: Say I want to count down from 2 (as specified in a constant). Should look like:
    FALSE
    2
    1
    0
    2
    1
    0
    2
    ---TRUE
    2
    1
    0
    2
    1
    ---FALSE
    2
    1
    0
    2
    1
    I'm sure this is easy to do, but I've been wracking my brain!
    Thanks!
    -Brendan

    While I don't know what you mean by "when it switches states", I have attached one solution using an event structure. Here "it" is simply a boolean control that switches states under operator control.
    See if this makes sense to you.
