Bounce messages via another smarthost

Hello,
We are using SunOne iPlanet Messaging Server 5.2 HotFix 1.07. Messages which have been created by Messenger Express (webmail) are send through localhost which does some rewriting to the with the from address and passes them on to a MTA with an Virusscanner. Since this is a large site a lot of messages are bouncing because of over quota mailboxes. These messages do not need to be scanned from viri and should therefore be send through a non virusscanning MTA.
The notices should be sent through another MTA. How do I set this up using channels and so on?

Bert

  • Rerouting bounce messages via ldap query inpossible?

    Hi,
    using C650 with 6.4.0-273
I have defined a private listener. For internal domains I have domains assigned routing with a ldap query. It resolves to mailLocalAddress.
    ok
If I get a non delivery notification (hard bounce) so this messages is routed via a SMTP route, no ldap query is done.
We have used SMTP routes before changing now to ldap based routing on private and public listeners. All E-Mails are routed successfully except non delivery notifications.
If I delete the SMTP route (for my internal mail domain) NDN is deliverd via public listener (MX lookup, not necessary at the same IronPort in case of multiple MX records).
Any way to have the same (ldap based routing) for both normal messages and non delivery messages?
    Burckhard

As a workaround, you may route all NDN's to another IronPort Private listener (using smtp route) so that they are again pass thru ldap.routing

  • TS2755 Whenever I send a message to another iPhone user via iMessage it is sending my Apple ID instead of my phone number.  Could someone help me with this??

Whenever I send a message to another iPhone user via iMessage it is sending my Apple ID instead of my phone number. Could someone help me with this???

Check this article: iOS: About Messages
    Additional Information
You can change your iMessage Caller ID setting on iOS devices in Settings > Messages > Receive At > Caller ID. Note that the Caller ID setting is used only for new conversations. If you would like to change the address from which messages are sent, first change your Caller ID, and then delete the existing conversation and start a new one.
iMessage responses will be sent from the address the recipient most recently messaged. For example, on iPhone you can receive messages sent to your Apple ID and phone number. A friend sends you a message to your Apple ID. Responses in this conversation will be sent from your Apple ID, even if your Caller ID is set to your phone number.

  • Safari of my Macbook (on WiFi) suddenly fails to connect to the Internet.  A popup window message says another device on the network is using my computer's IP address.

But then there was still no Internet access even after I have disconnected all other home computers (a total of four including the Macbook and one iMac desktop.  For simplicity, I shall categorically called them Mac hereafter unless otherwise specified.  The Macs are operating on WiFi.).
The window message recommends changing the IP of either the Macs or the other device.  The latter of course does not apply because I don't think the other device is one of my computers.
    My questions:
    (1) Why did that happen suddenly since the Mac and other computers on the WiFi was working fine in the morning (as well as days before) and then all of a sudden an unknown device is using my computer's IP?  As far as I (we) can remember, we did not do any thing unusual this morning nor had we downloaded any special programs.
    (2) How do I change the IP since it requires Internet acess to do it and since I can't access the Internet on the Mac?
    (3) I am almost sure the problem is not caused by the Internet service because when I connected the Ethernet cable from the DSL modem to an old Windows PC, I got Internet via Internet Explorer.  [I am actually sending out this message via IE on my PC.]  However, when I cennected the Ethernet line from the modem to a WiFi router (Airport Extreme) and then connect the router and the old PC, I did not get Internet on either the Mac nor the PC.  Similarly, there was no Internet on both Mac and PC If I connect Ethernet only between the modem and the router but not between PC and router.  So, the question is whether a third unknown party has gotten hold of my Mac IP address and is trying to break into the Mac?  Can it steal my personal info?
    (4)  How can I repair the Mac now and prevent future recurrences?  Is changing the IP address the way to do it?  (But like I said before I had tried but could not change the IP because I did not have Internet access on the Mac.  Is there an alternative method?)
    (5) I wonder if a computer's IP address remains constant if you don't change it.  The reason I am asking this question is because the aforesaid window message on the Macbook--not sure about the iMac--shows a different IP address--a few numerical digits were changed--almost every time it pops up following every failure trial of mine to access the Internet.  Was the Macbook trying to change the IP for me or was there some thing not right?

Re: Another device on the network is using your computer's IP address.
This message/problem was occuring intermittently for me in a household with two MacBooks accessing one Airport extreme.  Rebooting the modem and router would only temporarily fix the issue for me, so I spoke with a friend who works for Apple and it seems that the Airport Extreme settings were at the root of our particular issue.
The router(Airport Extreme) recieves only one IP address from the modem and in order to allow it to share the IP address with two computers at once, the solution in my case was through:
    Applications>Utilities>Airport Utility>Manual Setup>Internet
under Internet Connection- Select "share a public IP address"
under NAT, check the box for "enable NAT Port Mapping Protocol"
(this will allow the sharing of one public IP address with multiple devices)
if this is a new setting, then click "Update" and the Airport Extreme should reboot itself with new settings applied.
When all else is working properly, this is a satisfactory solution in my case.

  • Some emails are not delivered, also not in LOG, no Bounce message

I am Using Mountain lion server with the server app installed.
Not the strange thing is that a lot email is not delevered to my email clients, but some are.
The email that is having problems is [email protected]
Does anybody know how to debug where the email is, that is not deliverd?
Let me explain a strange situation.
When I sent a mail true wetransfer.com from [email protected] to [email protected].
I recieve the message on info@, that is is successfull delevered at test@..  but never recieve the mail at [email protected]

Also some other people are trying to mail me on test@. But I dont see the any message recieving in the logs, and also no bounce message is there.
Hope somebody can help me with this, since I have lost a lot email from now.

    Dear pterobyte,
Thank you very much for you help.
I indeed use a filesending service for testing, and agree that thats not the best way to test, but it was a way.
Since most email are delivered it is hard to test when it is going wrong.
Its a good change that it has to do with the DNS.
Does anybody know how to test if DNS is installed proper? I did install a default MLS installation.
What I see is that there is one issue with my reversed DNS.
    When I type in terminal:
    Host server.crypton.nl,
I get my IP, but when I type:
    Host 83.2.97.95
I don't see my server host but the one from my ISP.
    83.2.97.95.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer 095-097-002-083.static.chello.nl.
    Not
    83.2.97.95.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer 095-097-002-083.server.crypton.nl
    Might that be the problem?
Since you mention it can it has to do with the DNS.
Since it is all default, i dont know what is wrong with it.
    Kind regards,
    Flip

  • Never include orig. message into bounce message/DSN

    Hi all
How can i configure IronPort to never include the original message body into bounce messages or DSNs?
I would like to always include header information (sender, receipient, subject) of the original mail, but never body information or even attachments?
I already tried cli-command bounceconfig, an set max_bounce_copy=1, but then the header is also not included...?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
This one is a bit tricky. The RFC does not state that one "MUST" include a copy of the original message however we do as in general its good practice and it is seen as a courtesy to the recipient.
That being said you may be able to eliminate most of the original message. You were on the right track with that option but I think you were looking for size not number of copies.
You will need to make this modification via the CLI using the command bounceconfig. Depending on the number of bounce profiles you have you may need to edit each to achive the desired results. By default there is only 1 profile listed as default.
    The value you want ot chage is the following;
Please enter the maximum size of the original message (in bytes) to include in the bounced notification message.

  • I have a new printer which behaves OK except it will not print directly from a web site accessed via Firefox. We do not have this problem if accessed via another browser. Suggestions?

New printer is Brother MFCJ615W. OS is XP. Computer is quite old Dell. Printer also refuses to print pictures from .jpg files - but the fact that I can print direct from web sites accessed via another browser suggests some of the problem is with Firefox. I asked this a few days ago and got an email reply giving me a link to click on - but this only produced an error message.

I think I solved the wifi connection problem, just by switching off completely the router! sounds trivial, but in this case it worked!!!
the funny behaviour of the trackpad/cursor still persists. any suggestion???
    thanks again

Yesterday I began to get the identical bounce message no matter who I sent an email to. I even tried it on a two other personal accounts that I control and got the same message. Is anyone else seeing it? Is it real or random? The emails are being received despite the bounce message. My isp is Road Runner and they were sent from my me.com address.

  • Requirement to issue COMMIT to propogate messages via Interconnect;

Interconnect is currently in the frame as the Hub and Spoke for a solution integrating various vendor components.
However one item I would like to get clarity on; the concept that for a message to be propagated via Interconnect a commit must be issued. e.g. Doing data entry against Oracle Database; the inputted data will be validated against details from another database and/or a call to a rules engine using Interconnect. To get the message out to Interconnect my current understanding is that a commit must be issued in the Data Entry Database ==> commits the entered data to the database.
However if the validation fails (e.g. person id not valid ) after the call to the other database / rules engine , concerned we may have previously committed data in the Data Entry Database which is not correct. Ideally would like to issue a commit on the data entry database only when the inputted data has been successfully validated.
    Questions;
Is a commit required to propagate messages via Interconnect ?
If so is it possible to restrict the scope of the commit to Interconnect Message call by using the Autonomous Transaction construct ?
    Are there other approaches ?
Have searched various places on Oracle web-site but can't find a definite answer to the above questions, so all advice most welcome.
Any pointers to what I should read up on which would aid my understanding on Interconnect much appreciated.
    Rgds & Thanks,
    Eamonn

Yes a commit would be required if you are using the database adapter to transmit the data to interconnect.
And yes it is possible to perform this in an autonomous transaction.

  • Why does it take so long to go from one message to another, always says not responding

I will download all of the incoming messages fine, but to go from one message to another it always takes
forever, and in the top header it always comes up not responding.

Size of folder can cause slow performance.
As I do not know how you organise emails nor actual size of folders, can you do the following in the order stated..
'''1'''. Organise emails into various folders.
'''2'''. Archive messages that are older than eg: 3 months.
    To set up Archiving options:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/archived-messages
I would suggest you Archive by month and year and select to maintain folder structure. This means these emails will still be visible via the Folder Pane, just in a different folder under 'Archives'. You can see my 'Archives folder in the image below. Archiving reduces the size of folders, so using less memory to open them.
'''3.''' Move all good emails from Inbox to other folders
'''4.''' Delete all unwanted emails in Inbox.
'''5.''' When inbox is empty - right click on Inbox folder and select 'Compact'.
Whilst it is not necessary to normally empty the Inbox prior to compacting, it is a good idea to do this if you are starting to get issues with that folder.
    Background info:
When you delete a email, it is 'marked as deleted' and from your point of view it is removed from eg: inbox and placed in 'Trash'/ 'deleted' folder. In reality, it is still in the Inbox taking up space and 'marked as deleted'.
Compacting removes 'marked as deleted' emails.
So, you should compact folders on a regular basis to remove those 'marked as deleted' emails. This includes Junk folder. The Inbox may need more compacting than other folders as it gets more activity.
    General useage:
Advisable to keep the Inbox low in email numbers and use as an inbox for incoming messages and not as a general storage for older mail.
I use an addon to help me know the size of my folders, which I have found to be very useful. See image below.
Extra folder Columns addon - I only enable the 'Size' column, so it doesn't use much space.

  • Lumia .sms (text messages) via pc?

    hi all,
its probably not the first one about this, but is there a way to send type sms messages via PC? i love my lumia 920 but if i had known in advance that pc suite would not work anymore this would affected my choice... its a feature i used allllot.... to understate it.
are there no options to make this work or any alternatives?
microsoft used to have a tool for this but it doesnt work with a lumia either,
i thought you could run it via outlook2010 but then udd need to build a exchange server on the lumia... seems all a bit over the top. i wish you would kept the pc suite support...

The operating system on the Lumia 920 is under Microsofts control, that is why it does not work with PC Suite. Microsoft hasn't added the option in the OS to do what you are wanting so at the moment it is not possible.
You can suggest the feature to Microsoft here: http://windowsphone.uservoice.com/forums/101801-feature-suggestions

  • Black Screen on MBP, Can hear chime and can boot from HDD via another MBP!

Hope someone can help me here, as I'm at my wits end.
    I've got two issues, one with my MacBook Pro 17in, 4GB RAM, 160GB 7200rpm (2008) and another with my iMac 24in. 4GB RAM, 500GB 7200rpm (2009).
Firstly the MBP, left work on Thursday last week, got home, powered up the MBP and got a black screen!!! Tried resetting PRAM, SMC, booting in safe mode, removing and re-installing RAM, removing battery and mains power and leaving off overnight etc etc, yet nothing happens. Benn all over the forums and have not found any solution to get my beloved MBP working on it's own. I can boot off the HDD using another MBP 15in, re-install Snow Leopard and as far as I can tell the HDD is fine, as I have run disk utility and it tells me the HDD is OK.
I can't figure this out and it's doing my head in, as I use this laptop for business use and just can't afford to go out and buy another Mac. I should point out that this MBP never had any issues when running on Leopard, but ever since I upgraded to Snow Leopard, I have had nothing, but trouble. I did a clean install, in fact I have done it at least twice, even erasing the HDD securely, both at 7pass and 35pass, yet I have had permissions issues regularly and on the odd occasion, I have also had the problem of the HDD not being recognised.
The iMac is nearly the same, but the screen is working, although the iMac doesn't see the HDD no matter what way I do, again, reset PRAM, SMC, safe boot etc etc. In truth the iMac has been a lot more unreliable, but with the screen working, if I can get any solutions here, then I'll be working to work on that without the need or hassle of working via another.
I think that the MBP is only just still under warranty, but the iMac definitely is, but I need at least one working for business use, so really only want to let Apple have one at a time to look at/repair etc.
Ideally, as the HDD is working in the MBP, if I could get a solution to the black screen issue, then I could do without the iMac for whatever time it takes, so if there is anyone out there that can help, I'd be so grateful.
One last thing, when I bought the iMac 24in., I also bought an iMac 20in., but I never upgraded the 20in. to Snow Leopard and to this day, it has worked flawlessly, without a single issue ever.
Perhaps, I'm getting paranoid here, but there seems to me to be a link between the ongoing and regularly occurring problems with both Macs ant the upgrade to Snow Leopard. Why also, or is it just pure unadulterated coincidence that both the MBP and the iMac 24in have failed at pretty much the same time??!!!!
I'm going mental here, so I hope someone out there has a better fix, then me overdosing on Prozac!!
    PS
I'm not a mac expert, not good with a soldering iron either, but I'm capable of following good instructions.

Concerning your imac, have you tried installing the OS on an external drive and running the iMac from that? My friend in Texas had her iMac's hard drive vanish, so we installed the OS on an external FireWire drive I happened to have and then restored her data from a recent backup. So far I haven't had time to install the drive in her iMac, so it's been running off of the external for a long time now. Perhaps you could do something like that so you could at least have the use of the iMac while your MBP is in the shop. Once you get the MBP back, you can send in the iMac.
Be sure to report both of these to Apple and get case numbers so that you can document that the issues started while you were still under warranty--especially for the MBP that's about to go out of warranty.
    Good luck!
