BPA and BPEL interaction

Hi All,
I have imported a BPA blueprint into my BPEL console, The Blueprint is residing on a Server.
Now if i make any changes/save on the Bpel process, I want the change to be updated to the Blueprint on the Server.
My colleague was talking about a particular 'Refresh' Button in the BPEL window which could accomplish the task, but couldnt find it.
Is this possible?
If yes, plz do let me know...

Changes in the business process should come from BPA not BPEL, it kind of makes sense, you what the BAs developing business processes not developer. I don't believe there is a way to update the the blue print from BPEL.
The refresh button your colleague was probably referring to was on the composite.xml in JDev. But this is accepting changes from BPA not BPEL.

What's the complete value of integrating BPA and BPEL?

Hi all.
When I look at the original ARIS platform, honestly I don't see a tangible value in automating the BPEL geneation. The amount of BPEL code automatically generated is only the "less painfull step", something that I can quickly create by hand directly in JDeveloper BPEL Modeler by simply looking at the published business process from ARIS. The amount of time spent recreating what is generated is not relevant for many processes, and you have the flexibility of creating activities with your own naming conventions.
Now, when I look to 10.1.3.3 Oracle BPA, with its new features of generating BPEL code direcly in JDeveloper, I still don't see a great value there. Again, if I have a business process just published somewhere, I can look at it and easily construct the BPEL process by myself.
Having said that, I guess that all this effort from Oracle in providing integration between BPA and JDev, with a "shared blueprint" model has much more bussiness/techinical value than just generating BPEL buinding blocks. This is really what I need to understand. What are the complete value for having all this integration?
Could be:
Reverse engineering?
Closed loop between products, facilitating change management?
Can you guys provide me a clear statement listing all the capabilities/benefits of this new features?

Oracle Workflow - Statement of Direction and BPEL

Hi,
I am starting to study Oracle BPEL and other people at my company are studying Oracle Workflow.
Recently I found the following article at the OTN, regarding the Statement of Direction of Oracle Workflow:

"As Oracle BPEL Process Manager provides out-of-the-box features for building human-based workflows, rules-based process automation, and integration style business processes, further development on OW4J will not continue and OW4J will not be released.
Any new or existing customers who wish to build business processes in the middle tier are recommended to use Oracle BPEL Process Manager."
So my question is: Does Oracle BPEL provides (or will provide) all the functionality implemented in Oracle Workflow ? If not what are the main differences ?

I think the above highlighted SOD is about Oracle initiative to re-write current pl/sql based Workflow engine in Java so that it can ported to middle-tier. Since the acuisition of Collaxa they seems to be dumped that idea and positioning Oracle BPEL as the middle-tier process orchestration (BPM) solution.
Having said that let me take a shot at comparing Oracle Workflow and BPEL products....

* No way getting dropped as Oracle EBS has huge investments in it
* Oracle Fusion Applications has plans to use the Oracle Workflow BES functionality extensively
* Good for modeling business processes within a single DB/application instances. It's possible to integrate with external apps but not an elegant solution

* Doensn't provide sophisticated modeling artifacts like TaskManager, Faults, sensors etc out of the box. It's possible to build your own library.

* What ever you can do in workflow can be done in BPEL but not the otherway round

* Interation with Oracle AQs seem to be trivial as there is a native JCA based adapter for it
* You may get performance hit because of the multiple connection points. You may be loosing performance but gaining in flexibility
Overall Oracle BPEL seems to be the way to go if your business process involves multiple applications.

Models between BPA and JDeveloper

Good morning.
I'm testing the generation of Blue Print with BPA and the reading of this Blue Print with the JDeveloper.
I can check that BPA generate Blue Print using EPC model and BPMN model. Well, I have made a "personalization" of the BPMN model, I mean, I have created a new model based on a BPMN model.
I transform the business process into BPEL using the SOA menu and BPA show me the message that the transform finished correctly (I can see the IT Process group at BPA). But when I try to see the new BPEL at JDeveloper creating a new BPEL Process Proyect with the Blue Print type, the JDeveloper don't find this new Blue Print.
Which models can be "understand" by JDeveloper? Are there any configuration file at JDeveloper where I can tell it that new models can be consider?
(Sorry for my english, it isn't very good)

Hello Malhalma,
for the BPEL transformation the diagram types EPC and BPMN are valid. When you create a "new" diagram type based on the above mentioned once it appears that the required flags couldn't be set in the right way due to a missed recognition by the scripts creating the BPA BPEL.
If you do not have made to much changes within your personal diagram type I suggest to select all the objects in your source diagram and paste them in to a new EPC model just for generation purposes. Off course this is just a work around but till this problem is fixed by Oracle this could be helpful.

I am truely confused by how you are attempting to achieve things.
1. The Office 2013 package is only supported if deployed globally
2. AppLocker is the way to restrict users from starting different applications
3. Office 2013 is not supported to be published to users
It seems you have issues with #3. Which is not supported. I am not saying it "doesn't" work, but considering you have issues with it - perhaps we can start by not doing it?

Per your statement, Office 2013 is published globally. Ergo, all shortcuts and applications should be available to all users.

yes. there are a couple of ways to do this.
one is the create a child movieclip of container_mc and load
into that child and assign your onPress/startDrag
onRelease/stopDrag methods to container_mc.
a second way is to load into container_mc (like you're
currently doing), wait until loading is complete (ie, use the
onLoad method of an mcl listener) and then assign your methods to
container_mc.

I suspected you used the eye icon on the timeline to hide the message, but that one has no impact whatsoever on the published version. It is only meant to be used for editing reasons on the stage, to hide objects temporarily on a crowded stage. It is confusing, certainly in CP8 where for both instances the same eye icon is used. In previous versions the Properties panel had a checkbox for 'Show in Output', which was IMO much clearer than this eye icon. But of course, that is only my personal opinion.

Only if the form has been Reader Enabled before it is sent out to the user with Reader.
There are two ways of Reader Enabling the form. One using Acrobat Standard v9 or Acrobat Professional v8 (both have license restrictions). The other is to use LC Reader Extensions ES2, which is a server product (additional costs).

Drag and Drop Interaction Scoring

I've created a drag and drop interaction for a quiz with four
objects. Each object has to match up to the correct spot in order
for the user to get the answer correct. I've done this type of
interactions before successfully and not had a problem with
scoring.
But this time .. the only thing I can see that's different
about this quiz is that I'm not assigning any points in the "Score"
field - I am instead using the Status of Correct Response alone.
I've found that this interaction scoring works perfectly for my
other quiz interactions but there seems to be a problem with the
drag and drop - when the user moves the objects around and
temporarily places an object in the wrong (or maybe even correct)
spot, each of these movements is being racked up as correct in this
interaction So, if there's an ambivalent user they're going to get
many more points than is even supposed to be possible.
I can't see anything different that I've done with this
interaction other than the scoring. I changed to correct response
scoring because it was the only way I could figure out how to reset
the quiz score after the user leaves and comes back. (using
TotalCorrect)
Anyway, I'm open to ideas - even if it's not the scoring -
any help would be appreciated!

Don't use the quiz knowledge objects and code yourself...?
You'll find many on here who can help you with hand coding
and probably none
who know much about implementing those KO's who can answer
questions. The
reason is if you know enough to be able to answer questions,
you know enough
to know that these KO's are a short term crutch that cause
long term
problems.

Best practice for version control B2B, ESB and BPEL

Hello,
we are setting up a new system using B2B, ESB and BPEL. The development team is more experienced working with PL/SQL, Oracle Workflow and we are worried that Jdeveloper generates changes to the source files during development and that we might have problems with the version control.
Is there any best practice for setting up version control for these systems? Do we need to take anything in particular into consideration when setting up the projects?
We are using Serena Dimensions 9.1 for version control with the add-on in Jdeveloper.

I believe JDeveloper has a plugin for Dimensions.
I havent used it but to get it, go to tools (It may be help I don't have JDeveloper on this machine to confirm) check for updates.
If you select the thrid party check box - next, you will see an entry for dimentions.
Configure the connection and develop as you would any other project.

Drag and Drop Interaction Wizard

I am having problems with the Drag and Drop Interaction Wizard. I am using Captivate (6.1) and when I launch the wizard I am able to select the drag objects and drop targets, but when I get to Step 3 (mapping), I am unable to map the drag sources to the drop targets. When I double click on the drag source and draw the arrow to the drop target, the arrow disappears.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what did you do about it?

You do not want to double click on the object in Step 3. All you need to do to map the source to destination, on the Green Items you would notice a '+' symbol, drag and put them on the drop item, you would able to map them easily that way, double clicking them would deselect the object.

Does Safari support a interactive PDF with hidden layers? I'm on version 5.0.3 and the interactive PDF displays just fine, but our web development team tells me all the layers display when they view the same PDF on Safari.

Does Safari support interactive PDFs with layers? Through the use of hidden layers and buttons we built in interactivity that allows the viewers to click on buttons to display different content. When I view the PDF in Safari 5.0.3 on my Mac OS 10.5.8 the PDF displays fine and the interactivity works. However our web design firm tell me the PDF displays all the hidden layers when they view it in Safari. Who's right?

Try updating your Safari to the latest version, 5.0.5.
Also check whether the rest of your system is up to date by going to Software Update in the Apple menu.

Having trouble having both an interactive form and an interactive page curl in a pdf?

Okay, so I need an interactive pdf with a page curl AND an interactive form. I exported my Indesign file as a swf file with the interactive page curl, (which the interactive form doesn't work on), then I imported the swf file back into Indesign, opened the media tab and chose the option to 'open file on current page' so that when I open the pdf it doesn't ask me to activate the file before use, and then export as an interactive pdf. the interactive page curl works perfectly, but the form doesn't work. How do I put an Indesign form into my interactive pdf?

If I understand correctly, you are calling the addInstance() on click of the button that you placed in your form and when you add more pages using this button and save the fikle and open it again, the newly added instances are not displayed in the form. Am I right?
If this is the scenario, the you need to store the value of the forms created using this button and call the same addInstance() method in the initialize event of your form. I.e place the same code that is there in click event of the button inside the Initialize event of the form with the number that we have saved in some hidden field.

AS2 Drag and Drop Interaction help

I am trying to create a reusable template for a drag and drop interaction.
There are 7 drag objects, 7 targets.
Based on a scenario we develop (which of the 7 services [drag objects] are the best solution, for example), I would like to create interactions where some of the drag drop combinations are correct answers and dragging/dropping other combinations would result in an "incorrect" answer.
I am having issues with designating the correct and incorrect responses in the AS code, as well as how to provide the positive (correct answers) and negative (incorrect answers) feedback after a submit button is selected.
Additionaly, I have a reset button that does not function the way I expected - move the drag objects back to the start position and allow the user to resubmit an answer.
I am using Flash CS5, but need to use AS2 as the swf file is going to be inserted into an Articulate Presenter project (Articulate does not support AS3 yet).

Intuitive Drag and Drop interaction

Hi,
i am working on a drag and drop interaction with a direct feed-back built in. there are 6 dragables and 6 drop sources, which are rectangle smart shapes. depending on the answer which is dragged, i want an x or a check to appear next to the smart shape and then disappear if the answer is changed or the reset button is clicked. sofar i have assigned an advanced action to each drop source telling it to make an x or a check appear, depending on if the answer is correct or not. the problem is, that the x or the check stays in place after the answer has been substituted with another. I also tried assigning the the check or x with a fade in/fade out time, but that didn´t seem to work. i know the easy way is to just assign one correct answer to each drop source, but i want the interaction to be a bit more intuitive. Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

I am sorry i am not sure what the abbreviations AFAIK and IMO mean...At the moment i am trying to solve the problem using conditional actions. on the right are the dragables on the left the drop source. what i was trying was: if 1=1 (true) then show check, hide x else show x hide check (this is the script for inserting the correct answer) for all of the incorrect answers i wrote: if 1=1 (true) then show x, hide check else hide x show check...now i am not sure if this is completely wrong, but it seemed to work. the problem is, i would have to write this script for each drop source, making the corresponding x or check appear...is there a way to make a "global" script?
