BPC 10.0 Currency Conversion Scenario

Hello All,
I have a specific business scenario and I'm curious if anyone has anything similar and how they got around it and/or anyone's thoughts on this. I'll try to make as much sense as I can, sorry if it's confusing!
My company is a USD company, however we do business in multiple countries. Within those other countries, we have groups of businesses. So our reporting is something like this:
SubsidiaryA: RMB
SubsidiaryB: EGP
SubsidiaryC: GBP
SubsidiaryD: EUR
These 4 would roll into a group, let's call it Group1 which has a Reporting Currency of EUR.
All of our groups which have different Reporting Currencies, let's say Group1 - Group4 would then need to roll to the TotalCompany which has a Reporting Currency of USD
My question is, how do people typically load exchange rates into their INPUTCURRENCY dimension? How does the Master Data look? Currently we didn't build our system to support this, so all of our exchange rates are based on the USD conversion rate. But we need RMB to EUR, EGP to EUR, etc.  Do people typically just have their INPUTCURRENCY Master Data just have like RMB_EUR, EGP_EUR, USD_EUR, etc.? Or am I missing some sort of logic that makes this whole issue go away?
I know this is probably just a "design preferrence" but I am curious how other companies address this for ideas to present.
Thanks!
Alexander

Hey Vadim,
I don't necessarily have a business purpose to do that, I was just curious if it worked on other packages in general, just picked Copy package for an example.
But same could apply if I need to allocate say, 100USD to BAS(Group1) which has mixed currencies, the system should then apply the exchange rates correctly right?
For example, this would allocate the amounts in the Pre-Allocated Advertising Account to the Advertising P&L Line using the Net Sales of the Entities:
*RUNALLOCATION
*FACTOR=USING/TOTAL
*DIM ACCOUNT  WHAT=PREADVERT;   WHERE=ZFAADVERT;  USING=NETSALES; TOTAL=<<<
*DIM ENTITY WHAT=INPUT_ENTITY; WHERE=BAS(Group1); USING=<<<; TOTAL=<<<
*DIM RPTCURRENCY WHAT=LC; WHERE=<<<; USING=<<<; TOTAL=<<<
*ENDALLOCATION
So in this example, if I run DEFAULT (with FXTRANS), it should allocate those dollars correctly right?
Thanks,
Alexander

    Hi Nilanjan
    I checked this link and is correct, and I can save changes in DHE, my doubt is ?
    should I enter Ownership like this?:

    S100        IC_2000     LC              POWN                    REAL           2010.009       0.80
    and then should I run package Calculate Ownership? (Which is the function  of this package?)
    because when I´m using DHE, the data looks like this
    ENTITY --- INTCO --- CURRENCY --- ACCOUNT -- CATEGORY --         TIME                       SIGNEDDATA

  • Currency conversion error in SAP HANA

    Hi,
    I am new to SAP HANA and learning to create information views in HANA studio (SAP HANA SP6 on Cloudshare, HANA studio 1.0.68). I am trying to create a simple analytic view (on purchaseOrderItem table in SAP_HANA_EPM_DEMO sample database) to have GrossAmount converted to EUR.
    I added a calculated column as follows:
    When i click on "OK", i get error -
    The check box “Calculate before aggregation” has been unchecked, because the definition of the calculated column contains measures with currency conversion, restricted measures or operands with input parameters. For such a calculated column the calculation is always done after the aggregation."
    and checkbox "calculate before aggregation" get unchecked. See screenshot below:
    Please suggest what could be reason? Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Amit

    Hi Amit,
    If you uncheck the "Calculate before aggregation" checkbox and activate the view, you will see in the generated log that a Calc scenario is created. (a view with /olap wrapper). Due to the calc scenario, the aggregation is defined as the default behavior for the KFs and hence the calculation cannot be done before aggregation.
    By the way, I did not understand why do you need calculate before aggregation for a KF which is just a copy of another KF. If you need Gross amount in Local currency and EUR, then just perform the currency conversion without "Calculate before aggregation" checkbox. It will work.

    Ravi

  • Currency Conversion based on condition in BW

    Hello,
    I have gone through the cople weblogs/links/doc whatever information I found on currency conversion. However I am not able to figure out what could be done in below scenario. Please guide.
    Scenario -->
    I have STATUS and POSTING_DATE in my Cube. Key Figure in this cube is AMOUNT. Transactions are created in source system in local currency. When data is extracted to BW, I get AMOUNT in local currency and with right clicking on this column in Bex, I can convert it in Fix Target currency or I can permanently create one new column in my report which will always shows fixed target currency for AMOUNT. So far so good.
    Now the problem is I wanted to use the conversison rate maintained in TCURR table based on some condition.
    Ex: IF STATUS=CLOSED, then use Conversion rate as of POSTING_DATE,
            ELSE, use current date exchange rate.
    Standard currency conversion always use curent date for calculating exchange rate, but can I use conversion rate as of POSTING_DATE?
    Please advice.
    Regards
    Pankaj

    Thanks everyone for reply. I really apprecite your help.
    I tried the suggested FM "CONVERT_TO_LOCAL_CURRENCY", just have one more clarification.
    I debuged this FM and saw that Date which we are passing get's inverted as this is how date is maintained in TCURR table. So far so good. But TCURR table normally get's loaded once a month (say at the start/end of month) and so we will have only one date there. However input date which I am passing into thi FM can be any date (as this is the date maintained at transaction level). How do you handle this case?
    Please advice.

  • Currency conversion issue while creating PO from Shopping cart

    Hello Experts,
    I'm facing an issue in SRM during Limit purchase order creation from Limit shopping cart.
    Scenario:
    Shopping cart was created on 1st of June and Approved on 20th June & Po was created on the same day. But the currency conversion is no ware matching and couldn't able to trace out the same. I have tried several times to replicate the issue it never done in test environments.
    But the PO is creating with refer to Vendor currency. For example if SC was created in USD and vendor order currency in EUR then PO is created in EUR.
    the relevant notes were already updated in the system and it is working fine when the SC is created and approved on the same day.
    Please give me some idea how to fix this issue.
    Is there any way to make SC currency is priority than Vendor Order Currency while creating PO?

  • Changing preferred vendor to fixed vendor in SRM PO- no currency conversion

    Hi All,
    We are on SRM_SERVER 550, SP11, ECS scenario.
    Users create carts where they enter preferred vendor.
    After approval we found that the PO's were created only in "Held" Status.
    So we did a conversion of the preferred vendor (PF 39) to Fixed vendor (PF 19) during PO creation using BBP_DOC_CHANGE_BADI- BBP_PO_CHANGE.
    We also implemented BBP_GROUP_LOC_PO,GROUP_PO so that all items with same preferred vendor are grouped into a single PO.
    We observed that PO is now getting created in ordered status, where the preferred vendor is getting converted to fixed vendor as per our code change. But we also found a problem- that the line item price doesnt get converted to Vendor order currency after the Po is created. For ex: If line item price is 10 GBP and Vendor order currency is EUR, the line item price in the PO shows 10 EUR. The currency conversion fro GBP to EUR does not happen.
    This does not happen for catalog items/PO's where the cart comes with a fixed vendor (PF 19).
    So there surely seems to be something missing in our code for converting Preferred vendor to fixed vendor which is preventing/not converting the currency as well.
    Please find below the code we are using in DOC_CHANGE_BADI for PO, is there any step in this which is causing the currency conversion to be skipped?
    CONSTANTS:C_FIXED_VENDOR   TYPE BBP_PDS_PARTNER-PARTNER_FCT
                           VALUE '00000019',
               C_PREFERRED_VEND TYPE BBP_PDS_PARTNER-PARTNER_FCT
                           VALUE '00000039'.
       READ TABLE ET_PARTNER INTO LS_PARTNER WITH KEY
                             P_GUID      = IS_HEADER-GUID
                             PARTNER_FCT = C_FIXED_VENDOR.
       IF SY-SUBRC NE 0.
       READ TABLE ET_PARTNER INTO LS_PARTNER WITH KEY
                             P_GUID      = IS_HEADER-GUID
                             PARTNER_FCT = C_PREFERRED_VEND.
        IF SY-SUBRC EQ 0.
          CLEAR IDX.
          IDX = SY-TABIX.
          MOVE C_FIXED_VENDOR TO LS_PARTNER-PARTNER_FCT.
       MODIFY ET_PARTNER INDEX IDX FROM LS_PARTNER TRANSPORTING PARTNER_FCT.
       ENDIF.
       ENDIF.
    Regardas,
    Srivatsan

    there is nothing in your code which prevents the conversion between the two currencies,
    it can be the following reason
    1) system as standard is not performing the conversion.
    2) conversion factors are not maintained (or) conversion factors are maintained and the expiry date for the conversion factors has passed.

  • Currency Conversion issue for YTD model

    Hello,
    Currently our Client is using YTD (year to date) model to maintain data into BPC 7.5NW, and planning to use BPC for currency conversion from LC to USD. They are not converting the values in Transactional system. When performing this all Balance sheet accounts will be using YTD model for conversion, but income statement accounts should be using Periodic values for conversion.
    We have two different Entity FX types: one is USDFNC - USD functional and NUSDFNC - Non USD functional. One of the differences between these two FX types is CTA account, USDFNC is using expense Account to Book CTA and NUSDFNC is using Equity Account to book CTA.
    To achieve the above mentioned requirement, I did configure BPC as follows:
    1) Use RATE type AVG (average for Income statement accounts)
    2) Use RATE type END (spot rate for Balance sheet Accounts)
    3) In business rules for Account rate type AVG- formula would be [AVG], apply to periodic flag will be checked.
    5) in business rules for Account Rate Type END - Formula would be [END], apply to periodic flag will be blank.
    6) To calculate CTA for ENTITY FX type- NUSDFNC, I configured the following in Account Rate type AVG - destination account is equity account, Formula is [END]-[AVG], apply to periodic flag will be blank and Entity FX type is NUSDFNC.
    7) To calculate CTA for ENTITY FX type- USDFNC, I configured the following in Account Rate type AVG - destination account is expense account, Formula is [END]-[AVG], apply to periodic flag will be blank and Entity FX type is USDFNC.
    Above configuration is giving me correct converted result for all Balance sheet accounts and income statement accounts are showing the correct values when I use the formula (current period LC amount-previous period LC amount)*(current period AVG rate). But I saw difference in Balance sheet, so further analyzed CTA (currency Translation Accounts) and found that the difference is because of CTA amount only. Similar CTA differences exist for both USDFNC entities and NUSDFNC entities. So, I think my logic to calculate CTA is not working.
    I am using the standard script logic to run Currency Conversion:
    *RUN_PROGRAM CURR_CONVERSION
         CATEGORY  = %CATEGORY_SET%
         TID_RA = %TIME_SET%
         CURRENCY = %RPTCURRENCY_SET%
         RATEENTITY = GLOBAL
    *ENDRUN_PROGRAM
    *COMMIT
    Can any one help me to understand whether this configuration is correct? I feel that I may need to change the logic for calculating CTA. But not sure about what and where

    Thank you Ethan,
    Let me try to explain this with few dollar amounts:
    Let us consider that I have data for 1st month (Jan) of the year 2011,
    Net income for Jan. 2011 in LC = 59916152.19
    Net income for Jan. 2011 in USD calculated using Average rate is  = $ 9,223,013.14
    CTA for the same month is  (net income in LC X spot rate) - net income in USD at average rate =((59916152.19)*(0.154617))-9223013.14 = 41,042.564
    This value is correct.
    For the month of Feb 2011:
    Net income for Feb.2011in LC = 60415519.01
    Net income for Feb.2011 in USD at average rate (with periodic flag on) = 9,300,112.38 ( I calculated this value manually and it is correct after conversion)
    calculated CTA for the same month is (60415519.01*0.154083)-9300112.38 = 8,892.035.
    But actually BPC calculated CTA is 18,547.56 (I felt that this may be because I am not using the Flag apply periodic value while calculating CTA and when I flagged that, BPC is giving me a very big difference in CTA)
    My balance sheet is exactly off with the difference in CTA.
    Hope this helps you to understand my problem.

  • Key figures with currency conversion showing weird values.

    Hi Experts,
    I have a variable screen,
    User can key in Target Currency, and Month.
    Say,
    (Scenario 1) User keys in Target Currency "MYR", and Month "4"
    The report will show
    Jan| Feb| March| April| May| June| ...
    2| 3| 5| 7| 0| 0| 0 ...
    This is correct.
    (Scenario 2) User keys in Target Currency "USD", and Month "4"
    The report will show
    Jan| Feb| March| April| May| June| ...
    2| 3| 5| 7| 3| 5| 7 ...
    This is wrong, should not show figures for month May and onwards.
    (Scenario 3) User keys in Target Currency "SGD", and Month "4"
    The report will show
    Jan| Feb| March| April| May| June| ...
    1| 2| 3| 4| 0| 0| 0 ...
    This is correct.
    *In the infoprovider, the key figure is tied to currency "MYR".
    In developement system, i replicated the exchange rate table, and the problem (Scenario 2) is solved.
    In test system, i replicated the exchange rate table, and the problem (Scenario 2) is still there.
    I am not sure what is happening here.
    Please could you please kindly advise.
    Thanks.
    Tee

    There appear to be two factors happening here.. one is how you have your query restrictions set up, and the other is the currency translation method that you are using. What results a currency translation provides depends on both the translation key definition AND the availability of a valid currency translation for the appropriate period.
    First, review transaction RSCUR and see how your currency translation is defined.
    Then review transaction oB08 and see if there is a valid currency conversion factor during the affected time.
    Once you're certain all that is correct, review your query and how it is functioning. The fact that you wish to display months for which you do not wish to return data seems to indicate your 0CALMONTH2 restriction is not set up properly.

  • Currency conversion with query selection mask and InfoObject 0Curtype

    Hi,
    question to following scenario:
    in the data source is an column with the currency type. This currency type column contains values like
    10 = company code currency
    20 = account area currency
    So for each data set in the table is an assignment of currency types.
    In the cube is an InfoObject called 0Curtype (for currency types 10,20,30 ...).
    In the BEx Query should a filter or selection be possible before the whole data is displayed.
    The user can select in which currency he wants to display the data. When he selects the 10 the whole data is displayed in different currencies which are available because its local currency (Euro, Dollar etc.). By selecting 20 the whole data is displayed in Euro.
    Does anybody knows how to achieve that? Is there any function module availabe which is provided by SAP and it is available for use?
    Thank you in advance!!!

    Hi There:
    You have two options available.
    One you can define currency conversion variable in transaction RSCUR. Then use this currency conversion variable at query run time using a formula Key figure and go to Conversions tab and select this variable. Then at query run time the query will convert your key figure from source currency type to target currency type. But this can significantly impact your query run time because the query will calculate this at query run time.
    The second option is to use a standard SAP function module CONVERT_TO_LOCAL_CURR in the back end and store this key figure in the back end during data load. This way the query will run faster for you. The difference is significant in my case.
    Good luck.
    Let me know if you need more information.

  • Currency conversion - selection screen

    Hi All,
    I am using currency conversion in my report. My requirement is to accept the target currency from user. In my scenario everything is working fine but users are not getting currencies in their selection screen. But if they manually type some currencies in the selection screen he will get report in the required currency. I want to give the users that selection screen with all the currencies. I have maintained most of the currency tables. Is there any specific setting which needs to be done to solve this issue?

  • Unable to create shopping cart due to currency conversion error.

    Hi,
    We are currently working in a extended classic scenario. We have about 8 users connected under a common entity ( dept). Out of which for one user (user1) we are able to create the shopping cart and able to run the entire procurement cycle the entire cycle.
    When we are trying to create a SHC with any other user ( user2 to 8)  its giving the errors like
    1) Currency Conversion Error ( to GBP). Please inform help desk.
    2) Error in account assignment for item 0.
    Attributes for all the users ( user1 to user8) are same and we are not getting any error in the attribute check as well.
    Please suggest.

    Look up note 419423 + related notes to repair incorrect SRM users. What you report sounds a bit strange. A debugging session might be helpful too. Especially the 2nd error looks like something 'home-made'...

  • Foreign currency conversion not picking up rate or time period

    I am running the standard FX conversion (standard stored procedure - fxtrans.lgx) on SAP BPC MS version 7.5 , but everytime I run the package, even though I choose a particular day,  it seems to run for multiple time periods.
    In the formula log  I get more than 50 of the following:
    10000400 - 4 rows calculated
    10000400 - 0 rows updated
    10000400 is the TIMEID for my currency conversion.
    Also, when I look at the result, even though I have entered 1 as my conversion fator I get a multiple of 18.  I tried to change the conversion factor, but no matter what I do for no matter what entity and no matter what LC I always end up with a multiple of 18.
    Any ideas for me?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    This sounds strange. Can you post your script logic file and a small extract from your time dimension please?
