BPC 10 SP03 NW Installation

Hi All,
We are installing BPC 10 NW SP03 and we need information on few things regarding FIM 10 installtion,
The Installation guide mentions we need to have either SAP BusinessObjects XI 4.0 or SAP BusinessObjects Information Platform Services(IPS) 4.0 before installing FIM 10.
a. What exactly is SAP BO XI 4.0 is that SAP BO Business Intelligence 4.0?
b. Which is good to have, SAP BO XI 4.0 or SAP BO IPS 4.0? (based on Performance/Maintanence/Upgrade etc)
Please help us answering the above questions.

Hi Vojtech,
Before starting the Planning and Consolidation installation, make sure you follow the hardware requirements for the ABAP application server. The ABAP application server can run on any supported NetWeaver platform. For information about the requirements for this server, see the NetWeaver Master Guide and Installation Guide at https://service.sap.com/installnw73.

Unable to do BPC for Office Installation via BPC Client software

Hi,
I am trying to install "BPC for Office Installation" via the client software center. I get an error "You do not have authority to install the BPC for Office.".
I am on Windows 7 Home premium. My username is the only name on the computer and has admin rights.
I did browse through a few threads in this forum and as per the suggestions, I installed .NET 1.1 and service pack for it.
I also modified the "hosts" file in system32\drivers\etc to include the lines I need.
IT STILL DOESNT WORK !
PLEASE HELP!

I enable the Intranet option as per the note and added the website to my zone in the browser security option.
I get case 2 error as per the note. I tried going to the next step. Now it says "Not enough memory. A minimum of 64 MB of memory is required.". My computer though has 4GB memory.

You need to go to SAP Support Portal --> Release & Upgrade Info --> Installation & Upgrade Guides
In the Alphabetical Index at the bottom, click on "B"
Then, on the left panel select one of the following:
7.0, version for the Microsoft Platform
7.0, version for SAP NetWeaver
Once Clicked you will be presented with all available guides.

SAP BPC 7.5 Installation Error

Hello All,
We got a requirement to install the SAP BPC 7.5 on top of fresh machines with SAP BI 7.02 for our customer. As a part of installation and configuration process i have downloaded the SAP BPC Patches and installed on top of BI 7.02 with enhancement pack 2. created a new apshell Apshell whcih is default. the server was included in a DOmain XX. I also craeted the Dot Net server with domain user and which was included in admin group successfuklly. i was able to see the dot server manager diagnoistic green and successful. Now the real confusion starts.
1. After installation of BPC DOT NET server on Windows 2003 server wich was already included in the domain now when i ca access the server http://localhost/osoft which is taking me to the screen sap bpc console and givig me a couple of options like
1.Interfact to word
2.interface to powerpoint
3. Interface to excel
4.Interface to web
5.Administration
when i click on administration it is taking me to second screen where it is askig me to select Appset in a small popup windows. There i dont have any popup to select where as it is leading to empty screen where there is no popup. when i click on ok then it will lead to again the main screen it have all the options interface to word,powerpoit etc..,
I am really confused where i am missing ad whether i need to do anything else more for the same.
I also see lot more in the installatio guide like select apshell.db9 etc where i am unable to see that option. i no where saw the file with name apset. I also saw in the some blogs and installation guide saying that to select the option install on top of mssql2005 where as i didnt see such an option anywhere.
Can any one guide me o this where and what i am really missing.

Hi,
This is one of the most common error I encountered during my recent BPC Project . This can be solved by the following ways.
1.Please check the authorizations ( make sure to have full admin authorizations for the Apshell) .
2.Make sure to Re- install both admin & client tools (check the Diagnostics and uninstall re-install both admin & client tools once.)

BPC 7.0 installation error during creation Apshell db

Dear all,
I've tried to installed SAP BPC 7.1 on multi server environment (OLAP Server, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft SQL Reporting Services, Insight OLAP server in a windows 2003 64 bit server and Application server, File Share, Web Server in a w2003 32 bit server).
When installation start it goes fine until steps : "Create sample appset database".
Datbase AppServer has been created without errors (access to database server seems to be right with domain user used during installation).
The error is:
"Error (A file activation error occured. The physical file name 'Cannot open database "Master" requested by the login. The login failed .\DATA\ApShell.mdf' may be incorrect. Diagnose and correct additional errors, and retry the operation.).
I've checked sql server log file and I've found this error:

BPC ODBO 1.0 folder in BPC 7.5 Installation - what is this?

Experts, what are the new executables for called "BPC ODBO 1.0" in the set of files to dowload for BPC 7.5 M?
I cannot find any information about these files in the Installation guide - when you install this, it is called "ODBC CLIENT", but I cannot tell if this is for the SERVER or for a CLIENT DESKTOP, so any thoughts are appreciated.
Is this for Xcelsius / Business Objects integration or for something else?

Resolved. This file is for BPC integration to display BPC data in the Business Objects tools (Voyager, Xcelsius, Analyzer, Webi, Crystal Reports). The explanation is in Chapter 4 / page 19 of the BPC MASTER guide for BPC 7.5M (not the install guide).

BPC 7.0NW installation error

Hi,
In BPC server diagnosis, we are getting an error 'Current User Name does not have permission for Administrators group. - Incorrect' when we try to install BPC 7.0NW. We get this error when we try to install BPC. The user has full admin rights. Still we are getting this error. We uninstalled and tried couple of times. But we are not able to move ahead. Please suggest.

Please make sure that the account that is used for the installation is a member of Local Admins in Windows on the .Net server. It should be explicitely listed in that group (as opposed to a nested group membership)

BPC 7.5 Installation Guide - Clarification Needed on UJA_SVR_DEFAULT

Page 23, Section 3.4 Item number 10 of the BPC 7.5 NetWeaver Installation Guide says to do the following:
2. Go to transaction SE38 and run program UJA3_WRITE_SYS_USERS.
This updates the settings in table UJA_SVR_DEFAULT with the Planning and Consolidation users defined earlier (step 2).
3.Assign a single domain user to each user type:
Planning and Consolidation System Administrator User - Enter <Domain>\<user name> in AD mode, or <CMS enterprise name> in CMS mode
Planning and Consolidation Administration User - Enter <Domain>\<user name> in AD mode, or <CMS enterprise name> in CMS mode
Planning and Consolidation User - Enter <Domain>\<user name> in AD mode, or <CMS enterprise name> in CMS mode
If I use UJA_WRITE_SYS_USERS and then go in and assign a domain user for each user type, won't this overwrite what UJS_WRITE_SYS_USERS has updated? What would be the purpose of the defining AD users in this table? The .NET server install for BPC only needs the domain account for BPC Sys Admin, and the three ABAP users for BPC Sys Admin, BPC Admin, and BPC User.
My question is why do you need to "Assign a single domain user to each user type"?

I am not sure that you have answered my question. Let me try to add more detail.
No where in the installation do you enter the passwords for the <domain\Admin> or <domain\User> domain user accounts. In fact the installation guide only asks for the following in section 3.4:
6. Enter the System Administrator ID and password for the Windows Server that you are logged on to, then select Next.
11. Enter the System Administrator, Administrator, and User user IDs, together with their passwords, for the ABAP service users that were created during the ABAP server component configuration. For more information, see Configuring the ABAP Server Component [page 20].
So again, my question is why do you need to specify the <domain\Admin> and <domain\User> accounts in the UJA_SVR_DEFAULT table in NetWeaver?

BPC 7.5 Installation

Hi,
We are trying to install the BPC 7.5 and integrate it with the BO Enterprise.
BPC 7.5 is installed and it is working fine. No problems with that.
BO Enterprise is installed and we can log into the CMC. No problems with this as well.
When we are trying to integrate BPC with BO, it is asking to change the web server to IIS.
When we installed BO we used Tomcat as the web server.
But BPC requires IIS.
Our doubt here is can we select IIS as the Web Server after we installed BO with Tomcat as the Web Server.
But when we tried the above option we are unable to find the IIS option during the Setup process. We are doing this just to install IIS only.
Is our perception wrong or any help is greatly appreciated.

Here is a bit more detail.
I installed BPC and BO on the same server.
But I have some doubts.
1. BO has Tomcat as its Web Application Server.
BPC uses IIS.
2. You said that "Did you changed into BPC to use CMS integration?"
I know there needs to be some changes that needs to be done in BPC side to use the CMS. But I'm unable to find that. Can you please guide me in that aspect?
3. To the best of my knowledge, the BO installation was good and all the role imports are working fine.
But what I'm not sure is "is there any thing that needs to be done from the BO side as well like changing the WAS from tomcat to IIS?"

Bpc 7 MultiServer Installation - Olap Problem

Hi, i'm installing a multiserver BPC.
I've got SERVER1 that is a database tier (reporting, analysis and db) and SERVER2 as Application and web Server.
While installing BPC on SERVER2 AT "create sample data set " i obtain
"the istance [MSAS10.name] is not found on [SERVER1] server."
I've put in OsoftInstall.xml i've

If you would like to perform changes regarding the configuration of SAP BPC you have to use Server Manager not xml files.
Information is stored into xml files but also into SQL Server.
Just have a look to table tblserverinfo.
So into Server 2 open Management Studio connect to SSAS instance from SErver 1.
Go to properties and set the port to be 1533.
Of course befoe to do that make sure the port is open between Server2 and Server1
from server 2 just run into commnad line telnet server2 1533 if the connection is opne then is fine.
If the connection is refused then the port is close.
Open Server Manager and input into Server otion port for SSAS to be 1533 (not into .xml file you have to use SAP BPC Server Manager to do this change).
If you were not able to perform the installation of SAP BPC in that case you have to perform the installation one more time and you have to specify into configuration Instance name and port for SSAS.
Make sure that installation user is sysadmin for SQL Instance used by BPC.

SAP BPC 7.0 Installation : Processing of dimension

Hi All,
i have installed the SAP BPC 7.0 M , after installation i am able to create application set , application , set security and full optimise the application.
but when i try to process dimesnionm i get the following error.
" there is no data in Mbr table : Processing fail".
but in the excel sheet we have dimesnionmembers

What if you have this issue on 7.0M SP4 and you're still on SQL Server 2005?
I'll be less than impressed if someone tells me to upgrade to 2008 as well.

I suggest to perform the follow steps:
1. Do a client Diagnostic from Client Software Page and make sure everything is green and you have all prerequisite software installed.
2. Make sure you are connected into you PC with an user which is administrator. Otherwise you are not able to install BPC client.
3. Open Add Remove programs and make sure you don't have a previous installation of SAP BPC. Any other version later than 5.x must be removed to be able to install BPC 5.x client.
4. Restart your computer and try to install again BPC client from Client Siftware page in case if you validate steps 1,2,3.

Hi,
but in general, if it is dev./POC single server systems, create a user like bpcadmin in that server, add it to admin group and use this during the installation for all 3 fields.
if it is productive system, either single or multi, create a user in domain, may be same machine domain, or a service user domain which is connected/trusted to this machine, then add this user in admin group of your .net server and use this during installation for all 3 fields. If you have some security policies, create 3 diff. users as mentioned in install guide and use it accordingly in the same manner.

Changing the URL used in BPC 7.0 Installation

Hi,
We had a new server NLB environment installed by SAP tech services, unfortunately he is not available at the moment.
The installation was done using a temporary URL
Now we have made this the productive system this temporary URL is appearing in a number of places in the system.
Looking at the SAP BPC server manager the temporary URL has been used in the installation.
Is it possible to change this URL through the server manager?

You have to protect the report before distributing it. This is done under Etools-->Workbook Options within the template being distributed. Set the password here and BPC will lock the workbook before distribution. If you do not set the password in the workbook you will get an error.
