BPC and SOX

Good day all,
Outside of the inherent 'SOX compliance' settings in BPC, I'm wondering what other folks are doing around SOX compliance.  In particular, is there anything that could inadvertantly be overlooked while going through the standard list of access, change control, backup/restore, help system, data integrity , physical security, etc.?  Just trying to ensure nothing gets missed.  Thanks!

It is very specific to client so withdrawing.

  • How to get a parameter from BPC and use it in ABAP program

    Hello gurus!
    I got a problem...
SAP BPC will send parameters such as year, division, category, company code and so on via script logic to SAP BW.
I need to get these parameters from BPC and use them in a ABAP program as a filter.
This ABAP program will do several routines and return new values to BPC. It must be made on ABAP and I need to filter data to avoid performance issues.
Does anybody knows how to do it? or have a example of it?
    Thank you in advance.
    Regards,
    Rubens Kumori

Hello, I'm looking for a suggest.
I need to pass two parameters (users can input them in a data manager package in bpc) to a BAdI.
In this BAdI I write a code that store those parameters in a InfoObject.
    The problem is:
    - one parameter is for CATEGORY value. CATEGORY is a dimension of the application and I read the value with a code like this:
          READ TABLE it_cv INTO l_s_it_cv
               WITH TABLE KEY dim_upper_case = 'C_CATEGORY'.
    - other parameter is a generic DATE. this parameter is not a dimension of the application and I don't know how I can retrieve this value in BAdI.
          READ TABLE it_cv INTO l_s_it_cv
               WITH TABLE KEY dim_upper_case = '.....'.
The data manager dynamic script is:
    PROMPT(SELECTINPUT,,,,"%CATEGORY_DIM%")
    PROMPT(TEXT,%SELECTED_DAY%,"Write the date (format YYYYMMDD)",)
I also have a dynamic constant that assign the name %CATEGORY_DIM% to "C_CATEGORY" value.
    Can anyone help me?
    thanks a lot

  • SAP BPC and Hyperion SmartView

    Hello, Forum u2013
Encountering an issue when trying to use SAP BPC and Hyperion SmartView at the same time and just curious if anyone else is 1) using both programs at the same time and 2) if so, have you encountered any problems?
    Here is the scenario:
I have a SAP template file (EvDRE) that is used in conjunction with Hyperion SmartView.  The way it works is that the template would extract the numbers out of Hyperion and then send the base numbers to the SAP system.
In order to do this, however, I have to create the connection to the Hyperion database first, which I do using VBA code.
When I execute this code within a blank workbook, I am able to successfully create the connection to Hyperion with no problems.
When I execute the same code within my SAP template, I receive a MS Excel error (u201CExcel has encountered an error and must close programu2026u201D).  This has been a consistent result that Iu2019ve received.
Please note that I am not logged into either SAP or Hyperion when I receive this error (this happens outside both systems).  I'm worried that as soon as I log into both programs, the whole thing will crash...
So, just curious if anyone out there is encountering the same issue when trying to use both programs.
    Please let me know.
    Carlo

My suggestion is to attempt to break it into 2 seperate work flows for testing, using 2 seperate templates.  One to pull, then copy the data to the second sheet for submission.  I would assume that you would have to be connected to initiat eeither the extraction of sending of data using your added code, so seperating the 2 steps may prove useful.
    Hope this helps.

  • Definition of the best approach on how to do reporting between BPC and BW

    Hi,
I need your opinion in the definition of the best approach on how to do reporting between BPC and BW.
For example if we want to do reporting using BW on Actuals Vs Budget how should we manage this since technically BPC Model and BW InfoCube is different?
BPC Models have the Budget and BW has the actuals, but the InfoObject that is used for Account is different. What is the best approach to do the reporting?
    Thanks in advance,
    JA

    Hi Gersh
I already thought in that option, but the problem is the Yellow requests in the Infocube that are not used by VP.
In the past I used Report RSAPO_CLOSE_TRANS_REQUEST_ALL3 in the virtual function module to close the requests, but now I didn't want to use VP based on function module.
Is there any option to use data in Yellow requests in VP based on DTP?
    Best regards,
    JA

  • BPC and Financial consolidation

    Dear All,
I would like to understand what is difference between BPC and Financial consolidation.
I have a client who wants to implement only consolidation in system and we would like to know which product to implement BPC or Financial consolidation.
Is there any advantage/ disadvantage  if we go ahead with BPC and not Financial consolidation.
    Regards,

One major difference which BPC has over their competettor product is
"BPC is a unifed application for finacial planning , forcasting , budgeting & consolidation."
if u thinking to use other functions  apart from consolidation like planning etc ... then BPC is the go forward path for u

  • SAP BPC and SSM

    Hi guys
I am currently working on SAP BPC Financial planning project. I know that SAP BPC is used for financial planning & consolidation while SAP SSM is used for operational reviews.I was wondering if there is a value in connecting SAP BPC and SAP SSM. If yes, then how can the financial forecasted numbers in SAP BPC be used in SAP SSM (from conceptual perspective and not technical perspective).
    Please let me know.

  • BPC and RSA1

    Hi experts:
I have seen some questions related to BPC and RSA1 but they are a little bit confusing and I prefer to make a new question.
We have a BPC installed. I can see in table UJA_APPL the application set 'APSHELL' in client '100'. However, I can not acces RSA1 from client '100' because RSA1 is activated in client '001' (field BWMANDT from RSADMINA is informed with value '001').
Does it mean that BPC is installed in client '100' and BW is activated in client '001'?.  I understand that we should be able to acces RSA1 from client '100'.  Can we have some problems with this installation?. We need to work in RSA1 because we need to create transactional infocubes to upload actual data.
We have read note 1508223 that says that you have to activate RSA1 on the client you are going to intall BPC. I understand that if I have RSA1 in '001' and 'APSHELL' in client '100', our installation don't follow instructions of this note, doesn't it?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Best regards

    Hi Jose,
"I can see in table UJA_APPL the application set 'APSHELL' in client '100'. However, I can not acces RSA1 from client '100' because RSA1 is activated in client '001' (field BWMANDT from RSADMINA is informed with value '001')."
According to above statement Yes, RSA1 should be activated in client '100' then you should be able to access APSHELL in RSA1 as well as to create transactional cubes for actual data.
RSA1 and BPC administration screen should have same objects eg:
    Applicationset (BPC) = Infoarea (RSA1)
    Application (BPC) = Infocube (RSA1)
    Hope it helps.
    Thanks,
    Chavi

  • BW and SOX

    Dear all,
I need info on BW query creation and SOX.
What must be done when creating queries for them to be SOX compliant?
Any comment on this would be really appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Juan Manuel

    Hi
We are in the middle of a SOX proccess.
Let me tell you this, SOX is a big ??? for most.
so they try to make proccess that Comply (with ???).
I think that BW is not realy SOX related unless you produce your Fin reports from BW reports (which usually not the case).

  • BPC AND MDXTEST

    HI ALL,
It's possible to use the mdxtest transaction to create queryu2019s to our bpc cubes?
    Any sample?
    Thanks.
    Miguel

BPC does not have any direct integration with APO Demand Planning.  But if they both use the same underlying BW system you could use the BPC Data Manager packages to import/export data to/from BPC and DP.

  • Explain what is BPC and CPM

    Dear All
Im SAP-BW Consultant . I dont have finance experience. Can i learn about CPM and BPC
And what is CPM and BPC .
    Regards
    mohammed

    Hi,
Additionally you may also want to read up some fundamentals on Finance.
There is a e-learning available on BPC  in Enterprise Performance Management of BPX also new BPC version is going to be Integrated to BI, given your BW background this will help you to better understand BPC concepts as well. You can attend standard courses CPM310, 320  offered by SAP - Education to get you started.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers,

    Hi,
you can use ws_upload and upload functional modules.anyways ws_upload became obsolete.so you can try using upload.

  • SAP NW BPM and NW CE in heterogeneous system landscape and SOX

    Hi,
Does anybody have experience with implementation of SAP NW BPM in a heterogeneous system environment (SAP, non-SAP, Legacy) in regards to detailed audit requirements (SOX compliance)? SAP Business Workflow is well established regarding SOX compliancy. But, what about NW BPM?
Thanks for you replies in advance.
    Shahram

    Hi Shahram,
Not sure about the way you are implementing BPM in SAP/NonSAP scenario, but in BPM you can have detailed reporting and analytics for auditing purpose.
You can also create your own data source and pass data values from the process.

  • Material Groups and SOX

Our users create shopping carts in SRM.  For the catalog orders, the material group is automatically determined based on the UNSPSC code that is being passed back from the vendor.  However, for those non-catalog orders, users must select the appropriate material group.  We are finding that not always the best material group is selected.  At the time of PO creation, I have been telling the users to change the material group to something more appropriate.  Now, I'm being told that this could be an issue with SOX.  Does anyone know why?
Is there another solution for changing the material group?  Is there a second field within the material group config that can be used or some other field on the PO?  We are not using material masters in SRM.  It was a major headache prior to SRM and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

If your business is privately held then SOX does not apply to you. If your business has stock w/shareholders then it does.
Correcting or making the material group more accurite is something that would be MORE SOX complient and not a violation.

  • BPC and Office 2007 documents

    Is the following statement true:
"Documents created / used by BPC should be in the Excel 97-2003 format"
I am on the SAP Basis team and new to BPC. We are in the development phase of implmenting BPC 7.5 Patch 6 on Netweaver .
The desktops are running Office 2007 and Office 2010.
I resolved an issue last week for a user that was trying to open a template that was saved in an Excel 2007 format and it would not open.  I have another user telling me that his BPC locks up whenever he attempts to open an Excel 2007 "Marco Enabled Workbook" - this is a *.XLSM file. I have two other users telling me that their BPC session "freeze" and need to check with them as to what exactly they are doing when this happens.
Should I be telling my end users that BPC only supports Excel 97-2003 documents and that they should be saving their BPC related documents in this older format?
Thanks in advance for your input

    Hi,
As Sanjeev said ,  that SAP BPC 7.5 supports MS office 2007 and 2010.
one scenario  is that If you save the file in MS office 2003 and then try to open in MS office 2007 it will give that kind of error.
Another scenario  is that once they installed BPC client and then they upgraded the MS Office to 2007 or 2010 it will give problem.
    To solve this :
Re-install MS office first then install BPC Client.
    Hope this will help youu2026
    Thanks,
    Devi
