BPEL "HelloWorld" WSDL...
Hi,
Just a couple of n00b questions. Would be extremely grateful to anyone who can assist:
1) I have created a couple of simple BPEL processes to aid the learning process. I am looking at the WSDL for a process that uses a database adapter to update a flag in a table. The WSDL (for the BPEL process) does not include services or bindings entries...why is this?
2) I am attempting to pass parameters into some generic SQL in the database adapter. I can use "#" to define a parameter, but how to I go about passing BPEL variables into these parameters?
3) I have noticed the the database adapter process is a one-way process... I would expect there to be some response from the process (to indicate success or failiure) how do I go about trapping this?
4) Generally, sync process seen simple enough... request...response. Async however seem a little more complex. In my context, I am considering BPEL integration to APEX (Application Express a mod_plsql framework), this allows for the creation of "web service references" which can handle sync processes easliy enough. Async processes on the other hand are not supported by the automated web service reference creation process. I am wondering what approaches are available for this. Is it as simple as creating a manual web service reference? or do I have to expose PL/SQL to handle the incoming response?

Unable to invoke BPEL HelloWorld from Oracle PL/SQL
Hi,
I am trying to invoke a BPEL process (HelloWorld) from Oracle PL/SQL package. I have downloaded the standard "demo_soap.sql" from oracle.com. Find below the PL/SQL block that I am using to invoke to the HelloWorld.
DECLARE
req Demo_Soap.request;
resp Demo_Soap.response;
zipcode VARCHAR2(100) := 'Suresh';
BEGIN
req := Demo_Soap.new_request('initiate',
'xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/HelloWorld"');
Demo_Soap.add_parameter(req, 'HelloWorldProcessRequest', 'xsd:string', zipcode);
resp := Demo_Soap.invoke(req,
'http://nooslux037t.gl.2wglobal.com:7777/BPELConsole/Dev/displayProcess.jsp?processId=HelloWorld',
'http://xmlns.oracle.com/HelloWorld');
END;
But, it gives the following error message.
ORA-30625: method dispatch on NULL SELF argument is disallowed
Please let me know the value that I need to set:
1. Method name
2. TargetName space
3. URL
4. SOAPaction.
Please help me in finding the cause for this error and also the solution.
ThanksHi,
Thanks for your reply.
Is there any pre-requiste required for running the Webservice PL/SQL client?
I tried running the BPEL process as per your input.
DECLARE
req demo_soap.request;
resp demo_soap.response;
zipcode VARCHAR2(100) := 'XYZ';
BEGIN
req := demo_soap.new_request('initiate', 'http://xmlns.oracle.com/HelloWorld');
demo_soap.add_parameter(req, 'ZipCode', 'xsd:string', zipcode);
resp := demo_soap.invoke(req, 'http://nooslux037t.gl.2wglobal.com:7777/orabpel/Dev/HelloWorld/1.0','initiate');
END ;
But it threw the following error:
ORA-20000: soapenv:Server.userException - org.xml.sax.SAXException: No custom elements allowed at top level until after the <body> tag
I have copied my HelloWorld WSDL file for your reference.

PM's accesspoint and BPEL's WSDL question
Hi all
I am new to Oracle BPEL PM and JDev, and here are my questions:
*. I have installed PM when i was connected in a local network, say my ip is 192.168.0.1. Every time i deploy a new process, it will automatically set the service's endpoint as http://192.168.0.1/blah..... After i changed my network area, every time i deploy a new service, its still at 192.168.0.1/.... so could anyone tell me how to change/set it accordingly?
*. For JDev BPEL designer, automatic generated WSDL always include schema, how can i change this to define type schema directly in WSDL file otherwise the exposed service uses included schema which brings troubles when generating client stubs.
*. JDev already provide asynchronism and synchronism patterns, but say syn for example, if i want to have multiple <receive> or <reply>, what can i do with the default pattern except creating a empty BPEL and add everything manually?

perhaps this helps for you first question:

BPEL Process Manager Generated WSDL
We are working on an ant build framework for a Oracle SOA Suite 10.1.3.3.0 project, consisting of a main BPEL process that is synchronously calling another BPEL process via an ESB. This second process uses the same ESB to call back the original process.
This of course leads to a circular deployment dependency, where the ESB requires both BPEL WSDLs before it can be deployed, and each BPEL process needs a WSDL for the ESB endpoint to be deployed.
We are attempting to short circuit this dependency by deploying a web application registry for the WSDLs in question, but this presents us with a further problem. The WSDLs used to communicate with the BPEL processes and ESB are not the project WSDLs, but appear to actually be describing web service wrappers generated on the application server side. In order to use the proposed web registry, we would need to be able to predictably generate these WSDLs (or at least representative versions).
In our example it looks like a case of generating binding and service elements and merging them with the BPEL project WSDL , but we do not feel that it is safe to assume anything about this behaviour and would prefer some kind of documentation to inform our decision.
So, a couple of questions:
1) Can anyone provide documentation and/or description of how the required web service endpoints are generated by the application server/BPEL process manager?
2) Alternatively, is there a better way of avoiding or dealing with the aforementioned circular dependency?
ThankyouI was wondering too what would be a could solution for the "circular dependency" situation.
In my current project we will build some mockup-bpels(just for the interface) for the time being. -
How to get the BPEL WSDL url?
i'm trying to generate a Stub/Skeleton with JDev to invoke a BPEL Proccess from a Java client and i don´t know which is the BPEL Process WSDL
Thanks
GermánHere is the process to get access to the WSDL of a BPEL process.
Step1: deploy the BPEL process to the BPEL server using either obant script from command line or build option in the BPEL console.
Step2: go to the BPEL console (http://[your_hostname]:9700 and login.
Step3: in the dashboard page, you should see your BPEL process in the list of processes. Click on it.
Step4: click on the WSDL sub tab and you will see the link to the WSDL of that BPEL process. You should be able at that point to consume that WSDL in your favorite web services toolkit and invoke it.
Important Note: If you want to have a simple Java API on the generated Java stub, you should create BPEL processes that have a wrapped message style, otherwise the signature of the Java stub is Element and you have to build the element on our own.
I hope this helps. We will have more examples on how to invoke a BPEL process from the JDev on the OTN website shortly.

How to create RPC encoded wsdl for the bpel project created in jdeveloper?
Hi,
I have to create a bpel project in jdeveloper with the wsdl of the project in rpc encoded format. By default when we create a bpel project in jdeveloper it creates a wsdl file of document literal format, but i need the wsdl to be rpc encoded format. Please let me know how can i achieve this.
Thanks.Hi Nico,
Thanks for your reply.
You mentioned to specify type in place of element, from where do you get this type and what more changes we need to do for the entire project to compile well with out errors.
As suggested by you, I changed the element to type and tried to compile, it is giving the below error.
Error:
[Error ORABPEL-10902]: compilation failed
[Description]: in "bpel.xml", XML parsing failed because "undefined part type.
In WSDL at "file:/D:/indu/jdevstudio10134/jdev/mywork/TimerApplication/SelectDB/bpel/SelectDB.wsdl", message part type "SelectDBProcessRequestType" is not defined in any of the schemas.
Please make sure the spelling of the type QName is correct and the WSDL import is complete.
[Potential fix]: n/a.
Please let me know what are all the changes that need to be done to complie the project successfully.
Thanks and Regards. -
Copying Variables in BPEL using XPath Query
Hi,
I am new to BPEL and i want to know if it is possible to copy data from one variable to another using XPath Query in the <from> <to> tags, when the two variables are of different message types.
I am trying to create a sample BPEL that would receive a String through the receive tag tied to one partner link (WSDl) and then invoke a different webservice using the <invoke> tag tied to another partner link (WSDL) by passing the received variable.
I have pasted the BPEL File and the two WSDl files involved.
My Issue is that when I send a soap request to the BPEL, it is passed as null to the webservice invoked.
Probably because the copy tags don't work.
Please help.

Xpath query provides a lot many data type conversion functions(string to int, string to date etc), which can be used in copying variables.

Thx,
RahulYes, U r rite. It takes input like that in SoapUI.
And in OSB Console it takes like below:
<soap:Header xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
</soap:Header>
<hel:process xmlns:hel="*http://xmlns.oracle.com/HelloWorld*">
<hel:input>?</hel:input>
</hel:process>
And this is my Input for Business Service in OSB Console:
<soap:Header xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
</soap:Header>
<hel:process xmlns:hel="*http://xmlns.oracle.com/CHIEF_STE_jws/TestProjectForOSB/HelloWorld*">
<hel:input>?</hel:input>
</hel:process>
Note: And if i use the Bolded namespace of Business Service in Proxy,, it is working.
This is my Request XQuery:
(:: pragma bea:global-element-parameter parameter="$process1" element="ns1:process" location="../Proxy/wsdl/Hello.xsd" ::)
(:: pragma bea:global-element-return element="ns0:process" location="../Business/wsdl/XMLSchema_1137514867.xsd" ::)

declare variable $process1 as element(ns1:process) external;

CustomizeWSDL, importing xsd in wsdl file.
We have requirement of importing centralized XSD files in WSDL,
1) based on best practices I believe we should do following:
<types>
<schema xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" >
<import namespace="http://xmlns.oracle.com/HelloWorld" schemaLocation="http://localhost:7777/xsd/HelloWorld.xsd"/>
</schema>
</types>
2) Now, for life cycle management I thought of writing custom Ant task, but I believe customizeWSDL should take care of it,
I tried,
<customizeWSDL inFile="${process.dir}/bpel/WriteToMyFile.wsdl" outFile="${process.dir}/bpel/WriteToMyFile.wsdl">
<wsdlImport namespace="http://xmlns.oracle.com/HelloWorld" locationURI="http://${http.hostname}:${http.port}/xsd/HelloWorld.xsd" />
</customizeWSDL>
but it didn't work. I know it is for wsdl import, but based document it says XSD and WSDL import are both supported in customizeWSDL.
I looked at the source code of customizeWSDL as well, it doesn't look like there is any special xsdImport child tag inside customizeWSDL.
Can anybody please help me here??
Thanks a lot!
ChintanHi Ninad,
WS Policy is Standard that is used by any intregration tools while generating the .WSDL's, If the 3 party systems cannot understand WS Policy, you can easily remove them by using tools like XML notepad, XML spy in deleting them and feed in your WSDL files to the 3rd party systems.
Hope this clears your issue.
Thanks,
KishoreJ. -
I am trying to create a simple proof of concept that calls OSB from a BPEL Process. I created a WSDL with an EchoService in OSB, I then created a partner link with the WSDL. When using the BPEL Debug Console I get an error:

BPEL invocation securely from client using JAZN security not working.
HI,
We are trying to invoke the BPEL process securely from the client application using JAZN security settings, this is not working, with any credentilas or with out providing the security credentilas BPEL invocation is happening. Need the solution for this security credentials while invoking the BPEL process.
Please provide the update at the earliest. Thanks in advance. Your quick update is greatly appreciated.Hi James,
Thanks for the update.

Error reading WSDL File in ORABPEL 10.1.3.1
Hi all,
I'm stuck with the following situation so any help would be highly appreciated.
I need to use a Web Service provided by a third party. I tested this Web Service using a .NET client successfully. I'm able to create the partner link and see all the available methods on the Web Service but when I'm trying to compile the BPEL project I'm getting this:

I'm a little bit lost into this situation. Also I cannot identified which is the main issue here.
If somebody can give me some advice/orientation about this I would be very thankful.
Thanks a lot.
JoseIf you're using OC4J standalone, use the latest available OC4J, 10.1.3.3.
If you're using a manage OC4J, ie. Application Server, upgrade to the latest available version and upgrade your JDK. The provided JDK might be outdated.

BPEL Scheduling in SOA Suite 11g
Hi,
I am new to Oracle SOA. I have come across of multiple ways of scheduling in BPEL (Using Servelts with Quartz, DBMS_JOB, Enterprise Scheduler, Wiat activity etc). Can any one suggest best approach to handle various scenarios in scheduling. What is the industry standard way of doing it? How should a scheduler handle the any erros during the BPEL executions?
As I know most of the cases, we are using BPEL exposed WSDL call for it's execution. But what is best practices to handle any errors during remote BPEL execution? Also can we get return paramaters to the scheduler from BPEL?
Thanks in advance.
VicHi-
You can refer to the below link.
http://darwin-it.blogspot.com/2008/01/how-to-create-bpel-job-scheduler.html
I have not personally tried but I think it should work.
PLease let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
Dibya
