The iPad was sealed in the box when I got it. It had the plastic screen protector wrapped all around it and when I powered it on for the first time it displayed the "connect to iTunes for setup" message displayed. The only other thing I can think of is if the person I bought it from had ordered it through Verizon on and the iPad was set up on a number on his pre-existing verizon account. My question is should I just keep using it and consider myself lucky? Since there is no way for Verizon to charge me for the usage because I never signed a contract. I realize that if it is on the account belonging to the person I bought it from, they will eventually figure this out and shut it off. But I might as well use it in the meantime right?

It sounds like maybe you installed a trial at some point in the past and trashed the application folder rather than doing an uninstall?

If you are outside the return window, you will have to sell your iPad 2 on eBay or something and apply the money to buying a new iPad. -

I have connected with my mac and shows only 14Gb capacity , where is my remaining 2Gb?Storage is always quoted as the raw storage. But, no device stores data raw, it needs a file system, a language that the disk/memory speaks. Once you format memory/storage it looses space to the disk file system. Then, more space is taken up by the operating system. So thats your 2GB.
Same as when you buy a PC. It says how much space the disk has but Windows or OSX takes up some of that space. -
Last night I decided that I would go and update my ipod for the first time to the latest version of the system. I completely forgot that I still had not backed up any of my purchased music and apps and of course when the update was finished, I found that all my music and apps had been erased. Is there anyway I can get my music and apps back.

Brand new iPad (bought today) stuck in restore mode.
I just purchased a brand new iPad 32gb Wifi. I had it working great and was loving it. I put it down on the couch next to me in sleep mode and a minute later I look down and it is on the "connect to iTunes" screen. I tried to do a restore multiple times and keep getting errors 9 or 28 during the restore process. Is my iPad a lemon???
After about 20 attempts last night, letting it charge overnight, and then another 5 attempts this morning (no exaggeration!), it finally restored. In the process of syncing all the data (which I'd already loaded yesterday) but it appears to be working normally again.
I'd just like to know if there is anything to be worried about. The iPad was asleep when the "connect to iTunes" message first appeared. I'd really like to know the root cause of this issue to be sure it won't happen again. I travel alot and the whole point of buying this $600 toy was to enjoy it while traveling. If this is going to happen again while I'm away from a computer, I might as well return it. -

i just bought my new ipad mini with retina display 128gb, but i after i tried to run in for some apps, i found out the performance is very poor, and i just wondering izzit im the only one who had this problem which i get the lousy ipad mini or every one else who bought the ipad mini 2 got this problem?? Well I don't think is the app problem, since yesterday I already called my country apple customer centre, they told me to reset all setting for my device, the problem is then solve, my anomaly 2 not even lag anymore, and they call me observe 24 hours see how the device work. At first the device work well and no lag anymore for my other game and anomaly 2 too, but after a night, this morning when I wake up, the problem is occurring again, my anomaly 2 is lag as before >_< so I make a call and they call me to restore factory setting, then after restore, the problem solve again , but still I had to observe few more days, if same thing happen again, then they will call me send back my ipad to give them double check and if the device got problem , they promised me will exchange the new one for me ~ will keep update see how after a few day~

Actually, they won't replace the screen, they'll replace it. The following is a C&P from the link that I gave you.

It talks extensively about charging in the user guide, and how USB ports on PCs and older Macs may not provide sufficient power to charge the iPad. The user guide is available for free from the iBook store (accessed directly via the iPad iBooks app).
My iPad charges fine when plugged in to the back of my iMac, but I would always prefer to use the mains adaptor to save the strain on my USB circuits (which can wear out if used heavily to power external devices). -
I bought a brand new iPad 3 and an Apple TV, both connected to the same wpa protected wifi network from home. It worked for a day, but when I woke up, the Apple TV couldn't be found anymore by either iPad, MacBook or iPhone. Anybody a solution for this?
Thanks for the swift reply, I have been looking online and a loose plug seems to be somewhat of an issue with many, I hope mine is actually a problem and not what others are experiencing. It's taken me this long to even reach out for the simple fact I HATE being a complainer but this is just horrible.

Brand new ipad- it won't auto sync with my PC
I expected to pull out my brand new iPad and plug it into my laptop (windows) and it would be a simple automatic process to make them communicate. The iPad comes with this tiny card that makes it sound completely easy and automatic. That did not happen. I've re-booted my laptop and re-plugged in iPad. I've downloaded newest itunes. Nothing happens in my itunes to detect the iPad like it does when I plug in my ipod. The only thing on the iPad screen is a graphic of the USB cord pointing to and iTunes icon. then it goes black again.
Help! I'm very disappointed that I'm wasting so much time searching for help on something I've spent so much money to invest in, hoping it would simplify my life. So far, not so good.Do you have any other iOS devices like an Iphone of ipod touch that connect to the computer? Also make sure your computer meets the minimum requirements, and make sure you're connecting to a 2.0 usb port directly on the computer, not on a hub.

Serious Issues with brand new iPad 3
Ok so I was given a brand new iPad 3 as a gift on Sunday. And since then my life has been stressful!!
Email: When I click on the email icon up comes a message saying Unable to Move Message, referring to one of the first emails I tried to delete. So, no email program then.
Music: My windows media files of literally hundreds of ripped CD's will not copy across. The system is not interested and the computer hangs after a few seconds. So no music program then.
Documents: I don't know how to get literally a decades worth of MS Word docs onto my iPad. The Doc app I downloaded has no instruction page, so I don't even know how to underline a heading (it's called Goodreader). So no document program.
Calendar: When I tried to sync my outlook calendar instead of syncing it, it wiped it clean and dumped the appointments onto the iPad. This means with no appointments now on Outlook, it has synced with Google Calendar and wiped Google calendar clean and in turn wiped my blackberry clean of a year's worth of appointments. I am royally and truly stuffed now.

I have a brand new ipad with iOS 6.1.3 and an imac with OS 10.5.8. I cannot update my OS on this machine, but want to sync the new ipad. What can I do?
If it's an Intel Mac, you can upgrade it to Mac OS X 10.6.8.
If it's a PowerPC Mac, you need to use these instructions and/or iTunes Match to put content on the iPad.

I accidentally synced my mum's brand new iPad to my mac book air. A few days later I realised that my iTune library on my mac is completely gone. So is my iPhone 4s after I synced it with my mac. How do I get my old iTunes library back? I tried using icloud on my iphone but it stated that I have never back up my phone before. So I guess my iCloud data is gone too? But I have back up my mac in my harddrive using time machine. So how do I get my old itune library back? Please help! Thanks!
1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.
