Brand new lumia 920, failed to use in 3 day??

This is what happened to me:-->
I bought my phone at 4 March 2013
On 5 March 2013, i charge my phone and it suddenly shut down it self and unable to switch it on.
Same day i bring it to Nokia Care at the place i purchase, the person who incharge told me that might be the WP OS problem. then after he/she help me to switch on back my phone without confirmed what's the actual problem.
he/she told me in case happen again, hole the volume down button+power button+plug USB to the PC. then the phone will like refresh its system.
On 7 March 2013, the phone happened again bout the shut down problem. then i just follow what i learn from the nokia care centre to solve it.
On 9 march 2013, the FACEBOOK and CAMERA apps was Unable to open. just like u click it, it PoP out again to the main screen. even i restart phone, Factory reset, still remain the same problem.
On 10march 2013 i bring to Nokia Care again, and them just received my phone and send to repair.
on 17 march 2013, my Lumia is finally done by repair. and i go collect it. same day at night, Sim card was keep on Disconnect, No line at all, suddenly unable to detect at all.
18 march 2013 i went to Nokia Care again, then they said" Oh Okay, we have to send in repair" again?
19 march 2013, Nokia Care called me and told me It's Done. and i go collect it again. And i mention about can i add some money or what something else to exchange a brand new lumia 920? What the person who incharge my case respond was, "let us send to repair for 1 last time first ok? let see what happen"
20 march 2013 i realise there is no FLASH on my camera, not function at all. even i install apps"flashLight" to test same no function.
21 march 2013 i bring to Nokia Care again. and they said " send in repair " again??
Until now, no respond. Under this situation, Is that nokia should Exchange a brand new phone for me? I paid money just for testing ur Lumia 920? Not even mention exchange a new lumia 920 for me? repair repair and repair..  Is this what i deserve to get?

I have faced the same case. After 2 days i bought the Nokia Lumia 920, the phone suddenly shut down itself and unable to switch it on.
Next day i bring it to Nokia Store, the person who incharge help me switch on back my phone without confirmed what's the actual problem. The person asks me to go to Care Centre and i did not go because i think it is recover.
However, after 2 days, same case happen and i found this comment. Im wondering do I need to send my phone to Care Centre to repair as there are many problems occur after sending to repair. May I know what is the main reason cause the problem? (Make me disappointed on Nokia phone)

  • New Lumia 920 with Here Drive+Beta - no connection...

    Hi!
I have two Lumias - 800 for my private use and brand new 920 for my business use. 800 has WP7.8 installed and Nokia Drive works flawlessly and I can download any maps I want.
But not so with 920 with WP8 and Here Drive+ Beta: phone informs all the time that there is no connection with map server - check your WiFi connection. But WiFi is working Ok with full speed - I have web pages like this opened  without problems (data connection disabled for to be sure WiFi is functional).
Same message appears when I'm trying to download maps through Here Maps. My country, Finland, is of course in the list and as I said before, Nokia Drive works with Lumia 800 and maps can be downloaded.
What could be the problem? Location, GPS works, WiFi works. Nokia account active, WindowsLiveId active. Are map servers for Here Drive+Beta really out of operation right now?

OK, everything is working now. Just waited 8 hrs and servers are up again. Problem solved. Odd although that my Lumia 800 was working at the same time.

  • Nokia Lumia 920 - Unlocked - Cannot use internet

I've been having trouble with my nokia lumia 920, namely with the internet (or rather, lack of it) ever since it was unlocked.
I purchased my locked Nokia Lumia from a Phones4U store in the UK and it worked just fine with my UK Orange sim card. However, when I had it unlocked (not by Orange. They would not sell me the unlock code because I had not bought the phone from Orange, so I had to go through another route) I noticed the internet was not working. Everything else was fine, apart from that.
At the time I was in Greece and using a Vodafone sim card. I received a text from the carrier saying I had to download an app for the internet to work, so I clicked on the link they had sent, which in turn would not work because the app I needed to download apparently did not exist. (I had to do the same thing with my iphone 4S and it worked just fine)! I assumed it was because Vodafone did not have 4G so I ignored it and resulted to using just WiFi whenever it was available.
When I went France I purchased a sim card from Orange in the hope that it would work but, again, I didn't. By this time I had already gone online and had a look for tips (I had done the Settings>mobile network>highest connection speed>3G, in case 4G was not available) but to no avail.
I really like this phone and would like to make use of it but without internet there's not much I can do. Would anyone have any tips as to how to resolve this problem? Anything will be really appreciated! Thanks in advance.

When you click on settings - Wifi stupid i know but check it is switched on. Under that can you see a list of connection points. Also can you connect to internet via GPRS
If above is yes ( as I am sure it will be ) for Wifi. If no for GPRS have you tried inputting a new apn manually.

  • Brand new iMac, can't partition using Bootcamp

I just got a 27" 1TB brand new iMac three days ago. After copying over all my files from my previous computer (PC), installing some software packages and configured the Mac the way I want it, yesterday I wanted to partition 80GB out of remaining 330GB with bootcamp to install Windows 7. After one hour it stopped with an error message that it wasn't able to move some files and I would need to re-format the HD and start again.
Is there really no other way? It took me two days to get to where I am.

Did you use the Boot Camp Assistant to partition the drive?
BTW you should be posting in Boot Camp forum located at:

  • Brand new MacBook Air fails to shut down

I took ownership of a brand new 13" MacBook Air on Friday 15th, have been trying it since then and found that on occasion it hangs during the shutdown process. This has happened five times in two days of use (it's now the 17th). The only way to get the MBA to shut down is to hit the start button for an extended period otherwise it will sit spinning for eternity. I have experimented and tried to shutdown programmes first before shutting down the MBA, but this doesn't appear to help.
I have only installed a few programmes on the MBA since receiving it, (Lightroom and 1Password), everything else is as it was when it was delivered, brand new. I purchased it via the online store and requested that it was upgraded with 8GB RAM and a 1.7GHz processor, so it came from China with these upgrades carried out.
Could this be a memory problem? I understand that MBs can be fussy about what type of memory is installed. It seems odd as the memory was installed in the factory.
Should I do a VRAM and/ or PROM reset? Are either of these responsible for controlling shut down procedures?
It is very disappointing as I had been really looking forward to getting the MBA and I am concerned that this might be an inherent fault with this particular machine. Any help would be appreciated. I will contact Apple Support as I have 90 days phone support, but I thought I should try you all first.
    Chris

RAM should not be a factor for a brand new Mac. Third party software is often the culprit.
Make sure to log out of 1Password before shutting down >  https://discussions.agilebits.com/discussion/5265/1password-cancels-logout
Tip ... there's no need for a third party password manager. The pre installed Keychain Access app can do that for you.

  • Brand new Mac Mini failing to start

I got my Mac Mini 2 days ago (brand new direct from Apple, with Lion install) and everything worked fine until last night when I downloaded and attempted to install various Apple software updates (including a security update). I left the computer alone for about 5 minutes while it restarted and when I came back the screen was off and the computer was unresponsive to keyboard/mouse input.  The Mac's fans were clocking at very high speed and the unit was hot so I powered off by pressing the power button for a few seconds.
I came to switch the computer on this morning and although it powered up and the indicator light came on, immediately the fans kicked in to a very high speed and there was no signal to my monitor.
I've tried all the steps recommended in the FAQ (resetting the PRAM, the SMC etc) and now I don't even get the indicator light.
Are there any tips/suggestions you can offer before I contact customer support?

With a brand new computer like that, I would take it back to Apple and ask them to fix it.

  • AT&T Lumia 920 - 2 Freezes in a few days maybe rel...

    Hello,
I've been using my AT&T Lumia 920 for 8 days. Within the first week I have had 2 freezes. Both were while using Bluetooth, but that may be coincidental.
I am not happy about these glitches as I was previously using an AT&T Lumia 900 since April, and it never had problems like this. I expect the 920 to be an upgrade in every regard.
    I am seeking:
An explanation as to the cause of these issues.
A permanent solution that will prevent these issues from recurring
The specifics of the 2 incidences are:
    First incident:
I was driving & talking on my phone with my Plantronics Voyager Bluetooth headset. I parked at BestBuy & went inside continuing my phone call. In less than 60 seconds, I realized that it seemed like the person on the other end of the phone was being too quite. So I thought maybe the call dropped. I pulled the phone out of my belt holster & found that it showed that the call was still connected. But I could hear nothing. The screen was essentially non-responsive. Within about 1 minute, my screen went black & I couldn't get the phone to do anything. I kept trying to to a soft reset like I did with my Lumia 900 a few times (power button + volume up). This didn't work (I have later learned that the Lumia 920 uses a different button combinatino (power button + volume down). I gave up using my phone & asked the Geek Squad boys if I could use their phone to call my customer back to finish the discussion so that I could confirm I was purchasing the correct product for him. About 30-60 minutes later, I was still periodically trying to figure out how to get my phone to come back to life. I pressed & held two buttons (presumably power + volume down). The phone vibrated & rebooted. Thank goodness.
    Second incident:
I was traveling & dictating an email (which I'm glad that Windows Phone 8 now lets us dictate outside of TXT messages. :-). My first attempt returned no results. I then pressed the microphone button again & retry dictating. At this point, it did something unexpected (I really don't recall the exact specifics). From that point, further attempts to dictate did absolutely nothing. I then decided that I'd just type the email instead. I picked up the phone & pressed in the body of the email. The onscreen keyboard appeared. But none of the keys actually typed or did anything. At this point (of course a bit irritated), I tried to get out of the email, and realized that the phone would not really let me do anything. It displayed the empty email and gave me a flashing cursor, but no buttons or keys would do anything. It was like they were all being ignored by the phone. Then I had this though.... After my previous lock-up, I had read a little bit online that some Lumia 920 users had experienced lock ups when using bluetooth. So I thought, maybe if I power off my bluetooth headset, the phone will break the bluetooth connection & maybe will release control of the phone back to me. So I powered off my bluetooth headset. Sure enough, the phone immediately returned to normal (although it did first quickly make a couple of sounds & display regarding the dictation [like basically the last time I pressed the microphone button, dictation wasn't able to come up, so now it finally did come up & then went away again all within about 1 second]). After powering off the bluetooth headset, my phone has been fine. No need to reboot. A few days have passed with no more issues.
    So in summary:
Is there a problem with the phone's bluetooth support?
Is there a problem with my headset (I don't think so, it works on other phones just fine, and it works on this phone 98% of the time without problems)?
Who is going to fix the bluetooth problems & when (Nokia or Microsoft)?
Can they be fixed, or are they problems inherent with the phone's bluetooth chip which are irreparable?
Is there any sense in me going back to the AT&T store & swapping for another Lumia 920? (I don't think so. Seems like most everything else with the phone works well [I've had a few other isolated incidents with other things, but so far I've written them off as software glitches that Microsoft or Nokia will fix with time]).
Who should I be reporting this issue to (AT&T? Nokia? Microsoft?)? What is the correct support channel to get the issue resolved most quickly? (I am very willing to work with a competent tech support person to troubleshoot & track the issue over time if necessary in order to help facilitate identifying the root cause of the issue so that a proper permanent fix can be implemented by Nokia or Microsoft.
Have any other users experienced this same problem?
Thanks for your time in reviewing my issue. I have been very excited & enthusiastic about the Lumia 920 & Windows Phone 8. I have tried to promote it with my friends and family. However, when I hit an issue like this which didn't exist on my Lumia 900, I find myself feeling a bit embarassed & frustrated.
By the way, to my knowledge I didn't have any other programs running on my phone during either of these incidents (definitely nothing else running in the foreground).
    Sincerely,
    Doug Mortensen

Don't expect support here. Nokia does not bother to pay a tech or two to support the people who have bought the 920. Not really a point to these forums.
Anyways, i have huge bt issues as well. Cannot connect or see my jawbone. In truck with pioneer nav system (it is illegal here to use a phone without handsfree in vehicle) it links, but when i make a call or receive a call it shows the phone off the receiver icon so it knows call in progress, but i either get no sound from the caller... at all, or i get a robotic mess i cannot decipher. when i cannot hear anything, people can hear me, but when i hear robotic, people can hear me but with distortion. However, when it reads a text message, the phone voice is fine through the system. Because i have to turn bt off then to use phone, i have to return this handset and just go back to android.
Have also had this drop calls a few times now as reception is probably the worst i have seen in a decade... even drops in downtown core. Battery life poor because i assume its always struggling for a signal.

  • Brand new Mac user - buying a used G4 17" -  Good investment?

Hello all. I am buying myself a long-desired Christmas gift this year. The computer/IT business that works with our agency has a used G4 Powerbook for sale. Since I know the person who has used it, and the price is incredibly good, I have decided to take the plunge. I honestly do not even know how Macs work, but I have heard so many good things about them as far as their reliability and ease of operation that when the chance came up I knew I had to take it.
I have never had good luck with PC's - even when I have spent a lot of money on a supposedly really good one, and maintain it well, I have issues. I'm tired of spending precious time working on a computer just so I can use the computer to do work. I am far too much of left brained creative type (or is that right brain, I always get them mixed up) to have to be a computer geek at the same time. Everything I've read says English majors like me really need Macs because they "just work" and make ever so much more sense.
So I don't have any specific questions yet, because I don't have it, but I wanted to say hi and introduce myself and I will probably have a gazillion questions once I actually get it and turn it on. I hope you'll indulge me! In the meantime, I'd love to hear that I made a good decision and a worthwhile investment and that this beastie will last many years if I take good care of it. (On the other hand if they're "nothing but trouble" please tell me quickly before I hand them any money!)
Thank you and I look forward to getting to know you. Have a lovely weekend!

If you want to buy a used Powerbook with no warranty, you have to be a lucky one. I am sorry to cast some shadow on your project, but I must tell you what happened to me if you are on a buget and every penny counts.
I was on the market for a Macbook Pro 17. But after reading too many stories of people disappointed with their MBP's because of endless failures, I finally decided for a "near new" Powerbook G4 1,5GHz. I had also read countless stories of Powerbook G4 1,67GHz owners whos LCD screen failed just after the one year warranty was over. Those poor customers are now with a dead investment after just one year because Apple has decided not to aknowledge that there is a problem with a batch of LCD screens. Take a tour on the Powerbook display forum if you want to know more at http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1020
The 1,5 model was not reported to have too many of those problems, so I took my chance despite the still small voice that I should have listened. After three weeks of gentle use, one vertical line appeared. This PB is just 3 years old, like new and has cost me an arm and a leg. Now a new LCD should cost between USD 800 if I replace it myself (tricky job) and USD 1000 if I send it trust it to some company. When I will have it fixed, it will have cost me USD 2300 and the LCD might again fail after the one year warranty for the new part is over.
So to your question, I would answer: avoid the 1.67 GHz Powerbook if there is no long term warranty on the sale. And if you buy another model, make sure you can have a very quick return on your investment! Sadly Apple products are no longer the reputable and reliable products they used to be. Too much chinese mass production involved.
Sorry not to have better feedback.

  • Can I clone a brand new Lion HD, and later use it as upgrade path?

Six weeks ago, I ordered a refurb 2011 iMac from the Apple online store. This was obviously well after the introduction of Lion, but I was hoping the refurb might still come with Snow Leopard, which I still need for several reasons. I confirmed with an Apple online "chat" sales rep that the computer would indeed come with SL.
I ordered it. It came with Lion, and of course no SL discs.
After several calls to several reps, and several delays, I was able to get Apple to send me an original OEM 2011 iMac DVD with the correct version of SL that the computer would have come with. (They actually sent me six DVDs?!) At first they were going to just send me a retail SL, but I explained that it wouldn't install, because it only comes with 10.6.3 and the 2011 iMacs shipped with 10.6.7. I had to give the rep the part number for the OEM disc before she could find it.
However, if I simply erase the HD in the iMac, and install the OEM SL 10.6.7, I will lose Lion of course, but also iLife '11. iLife '11 would have shipped on a separate disc had the computer come with SL, as the on-line chat sales rep had said it would.
In a final conversation with my customer service rep, she refused to send me the iLife '11 disc, and said I could buy it in the on-line store. She also refused to give a code to purchase a Lion upgrade, which I would like to have for a later install. After all the delays it was now after the 30 day purchase window to get the free upgrade.
Her position is that the computer already has iLife '11 and Lion, my position is that they did not send me what they said they were going to send me, and she had an opportunity to make it right.
So, I am wondering if it would be possible to boot up the new computer with Lion, and then use SuperDuper to clone it over to an external HD. Then I could erase the new iMac and install from the SL OEM disc. Then I would migrate stuff over to the iMac from my existing G5.
I'm wondering how the cloned Lion stuff on the external drive would then migrate back over to the new iMac. Would I simply be able to drag iLife '11 over, or would there be missing elements from it? Also, at a later date, would I be able to boot up from the external with the Lion OS, then migrate my SL system over to it, including my home folder, settings, apps, etc? What issues might crop up, or would it even work to do it this way?
    Thanks,
    Don

Yes, but the Lion Recovery Partition is not cloned, just the Lion OS X Partition.
The computer will boot without a Lion Recovery Partition, but you need that to restore a fresh Lion from Apple's servers.
You need to create a Lion Recovery USB first. Then clone Lion to a external drive.

Later versions of SD and Carbon Copy Cloner may include cloning of the Lion Recovery Partition at the same time, but right now I here it's in beta still. So for best results, use Apple's methods.
    Purty Pitcher wrote:

Yes, you need to erase the ENTIRE boot drive, including the hidden Lion Recvoery Partition by selecting your internal drive media on the left in Disk Utility when you c boot from the SL OEM.
    Purty Pitcher wrote:

    A migration from a G5 running 10.5 to a iMac running 10.6 should work.
You can't migration assistant or use TimeMachine that has been connected to a 10.7 machine and restore to 10.6 or 10.5. Everything Apple does is all fowards compatible and not backwards compatible.
    Purty Pitcher wrote:

You can't use migration assistant for this, you can transfer files manually though.
    Purty Pitcher wrote:

No, you would have to install iLife from the AppStore when your on 10.6.8, this will likely require a purchase, the programs are copy protected.

You first clone 10.6 to another external drive, then either spend the $29 to upgrade to Lion or
option boot from the Lion Recovery USB and wipe the drive and install the Lion Recovery Partition and then option boot from the Lion clone and clone that to the Lion OS X Partition then point Migration Assistant at the 10.6 clone and migrate.

  • HT4413 Migration Assistant for a brand new mac that has been used already?

My dad bought a Mini but has been using it for a few months but didn't transfer anything from his old Mac. All his address book entries and files are still on his original Mac. Can Migration Assistant still be of help to transfer over the data without erasing what he's accumlated on his new Mac? Is it going to write over his email for instance?
    Thanks!

Migration Assistant is not the tool you need to use at this point. Instead you should manually copy the data you want from the old computer to the new computer. If both computers have Firewire ports then use Target Disk Mode - Transferring files between two computers using FireWire. Boot the old computer into TDM and the new computer normally. You should then find a disk icon for the old computer's drive on the Desktop of the new computer.
Before you do any of the described file copying below be sure you have quit Mail and Address Book if they are now open except where directed.
For Mail you open Mail and select Import from the File menu. Check the top option to import from Apple Mail. Navigate on the old computer to its /Users/username/Library/Mail/ folder and then locate a folder named "Mailboxes." Select the folder and click on the Open button. Select the mailboxes you want to import and click on the Import/OK button. This will import the old mail to a new set of mailboxes in Mail under a mailbox named Imported. You can then move the old mail to wherever you want in Mail.
For contacts locate the /Users/username/Library/Applications Support/AddressBook/ folder. Copy the entire folder to the new computer to the same location on the new computer.
Last, navigate to the /Users/username/Library/Preferences/ folder and copy these preference files: com.apple.mail.plist and all beginning with com.apple.AddressBook. Copy them to the same location on the new computer.

  • Brand new internal HDD fails again and again after clean Mavericks install - disc utility from Recovery HD can't repair

My old internal (self installed) Seagate HDD broke down, and couldn't be fixed with disc utility (from install disc). I bought and installed a new hybrid Seagate HDD, and did several clean installs of Mavericks, but the problem keep occurring - on the new HDD, just as it did on the old one.
I can't run Hardware test. Happened both on 10.9.0 and 10.9.1.
Will try to repair with DiscWarrior later.

If both the HDD and the hybrid disk are failing, your problem may be the SATA cable in the main HD bay. You might want to search eBay for Apple part # 922-9751, or if you want a tested cable, pay the higher price from ifixit -> http://www.ifixit.com/Store/Mac/MacBook-Pro-15-Inch-Unibody-Early-2011-Late-2011 -Hard-Drive-Cable/IF161-086.

  • Brand new hard drive failed - is it me?!

Hello (Kate HS's other half here)
I recently had to replace the HD on our iMac (the original one failed more or less on it's second birthday)
I fitted a 250gb Hitachi drive about a month ago, restored data from backups and everything seemed great, until tonight...
I was watching TV via Eye TV when the computer froze - and when i forced shut down and restarted I was greeted by a blinking question mark. Booted from Disk First Aid and it couldn't see the HD. Hardware test shows " 2STF/1/4 " error.
Could it be that something other than HD could be causing this - or some other fault is destroying hard drives? (first time i had warning noises and regular crashes for a few days, this time there was nothing - instant death)
Could I have done something wrong when fitting it?
Or what are the odds of having 2 hard drives fail in the space of a month..?
    Hope you can help.

    To Apple Discussions!
Since your HD is only a month old it should still be under warranty. I would contact the manufacturer and/or get a new one.
In case it's not the HD, see your computer comes under the following program since you have an 20" G5 iMac. Hopefully, it's a Rev B:
The 20-inch iMac G5 Repair Extension Program for Power Supply Issues (Rev B)

  • Few questions about my new Lumia 920

    Hi.
First of I'm loving the new phone.  I bought it outright and I'm currently using my rolling contact in it.  I'm on EE in the UK.
I too have had a few hard restarts but I find it's when I'm installing an app.  Fingers crossed a software update will sort out this problem.
Anyway a couple of quick questions.  Is there a way I can turn of the Facebook pictures appearing in my photo's ?  Also is there a way of turning of the notification bar at the top of the phone when a text message comes in ?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Mythril.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Facebook albums can only be removed from the gallery if you remove the facebook account from the phone. You can use the facebook app instead but facebook will no longer be linked to your contacts in the people hub.
There is no way to stop the message pop up yet, Microsoft has yet to add an option to stop it.

  • IPhoto crashes on import. Brand new MBP. Haven't used it before. Photostream still stuffed too.

This is the first time I've been disappointed with my mac. I've had them for years and never had any issues with any software.
The problem starts when I try to import photo's (both drag and drop and from a camera). It freezes for 5 secondsish- then shuts down. Everytime. Then I open it up again and tell it to import the photo's that weren't imported, and it crashes again. Its a cycle!
I was using Aperture on my old MB and decided to go back to iPhoto on my new MBP. Thinking this was a bad idea.
I don't have any 3ivx or whatever it is installed on my computer. It's 2 months old. Ive done a software update, everything is looking good. It's Version 9.21.
Here is the error report. Help if you can.

    Winging it a little here.
Launch ColorSync - it's in your Applcations/Utilities folder
See the Tab for Profile First Aid.
Foloow the instructions in that to repair the profiles. Restart your Mac and try import.

HP 2055dn on windows 7 pc having problems with printer communicating with pc . it is hard wired to pc with usb cable. was printing fine for a few letters then  refuses to print.  I have never had such a problem with a new printer before. It is not wireless and there should be no real issues. can anyone help

    Drew76,
Good morning (depending on where you are)!
Based on your description I'm not sure what the problem could be. Not knowing what you've done already, I'll go ahead and ask some basic troubleshooting questions:
    1) Do you have the lastest drivers installed for this product (http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html)?
    2) Have you restarted your PC since connecting your new printer?
    3) Have you restarted the printer since you started seeing the problem?
    4) Is this a known-good USB cable?
    5) What kind of job are you trying to print? For example, is it a simple Word .doc or a large PDF document?
