Brazil depreciation posted at asset level?

Hi all,
I did a quick search here and didn't see anything so thought I'd ask.
We are hearing from our business partners that Brazil has a local statutory requirement to post depreciation to the local ledger in the new GL at the individual asset level, rather than a summary posting.  Has anyone heard of such a requirement?  Do others use the standard SAP depreciation program to make summary depreciation postings to the GL for Brazil local books?  Seems crazy to me.
Thanks,
Patrick

Hello,
You need to create a seperate book for statutory reporting.
Go to OADB > then select Brazil chart of depreciation and maintain the following:
Area
Description
Posting Indicator
Ledger
1
Leading Book
1
0L
*2
Statutory Book
3
**NL
*10
Difference area
6
**NL
*you can choose on your number convention for area
** this is your statutory ledger
Book 10 is the difference between statutory and leading book, set it up as (+positive) Book 01 and (-negative) Book 26.
Hope this helps.
Thanks!

  • Depreciation Posted in Asset Module but not in GL

    Hi,
In one of the assets, falling under the 'Assets Under Construction' by mistake the users defined the depreciation key. Accordingly there was an error while running the depreciation. However, after amending the assets master and removing the depreciation key, the depreciation was again conducted. But this time, the depreciation for the month appears to get posted in the Asset Module, without there being any entry in GL Account. When we look at the asset balances report with posted depreciation, we find the depreciation in this asset. Since there is no Accum Dep account for the AUC, the system is not allowing to carry out the Book Depreciation.
The question is how can we remove the depreciation from the asset module only, without affecting the GAL?
Thanks in advance for the assistance.

    Hi Rajjul,
you mix up things. First of all the changes will not have any effect as long as your RESTART run has not been executed successful. The RESTART will only pick up the postings (on FI-AA side) which have been created in the original run. If there have been values to be posted for an asset, it must be posted.
Therefor you have to change configuration now, store accounts for the Auc class and post the depreciation. First when this run finished successful, and you execute a REPEAT run, the system will catch up depreciation back to zero.
A RESTART run will never calculate the depreciation value to be posted new, it always takes to amount calculated to be posted from its original run.

    Hi Praveen,
Your not mentioned which version followed by you Either ECC 6.0 or 4.7.
If your following ECC 6.0 version Here you can deselect the external check box for document type AF. (OBA7)
Then you can execute depreciation under TC AFAB .
You can see the planned or unplanned depreciation.
The Above information it might be resolved your issue.

  • AR29N Depreciation not completely posted for asset

    Hi,
I am trying to do an asset revaluation using  transaction AR29N
However, the following message appears when the transaction is executed
    Diagnosis
Depreciation still has to be posted for asset.....
    System Response
    The asset cannot be processed
    Procedure
Execute a depreciation posting run for the period 001/2011
I have already executed a depreciation run using transaction code AFAB for the period 001/2011. When I go to Asset Explorer AW01N under the posted values tab I am seeing depreciation posted for the period 01 for the year 2011.
Therefore, I do not understand why the system will still issue a message execute a depreciation posting run.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Niketa

    Hi Bernhard,
    Thanks for replying.
I checked both the SAP notes you recommended and other SAP notes that relate to asset revaluation and still was not able to find any one that matched my problem.
Is there anything else you will be able to suggest ?

  • Problem with depreciation posting for an asset with a '0' net book value.

    Hi,
I have a problem with depreciation posting on one asset. I think it should not be calculated and posted at all.
On 1st November 2010 (our Fiscal year starts on 1st November) there was acquisition posted to an asset and then it was reversed on the same day - so the net book value was '0'.
In AFAB depreciation run for April 2011 - it posted depreciatoion of 0.01 Euro, so now the book value is -0.01.
Do you know how this could have happened and what can I do to get the value of this asset back to 0?
    Thank you,
    Karol

    Hi Murlidhar,
    Thank you for your reply.
I just have one doubt - as depreciation of 0.01 Eur was posted in previous period leaving net value of asset equal to -0.01 Eur.
Shouldn't I get ritd of this asset value before I proceed with the steps you suggested?
I think it is not possible to reverse the depreciation - so I struggle to find a way to bring asset value back to zero.
    Thank you,
    Karol

  • Individual depreciation per particular asset per month-posted&planned

    Hi experts,
how to run depreciation per particular asset and particular month either posted or planned.please help me.
    Regards,
    viswanadh.

    Hi ,
If you Want to Run the deprecation for a single Asset and also if you want to run for a perticular Period ,Follow this Process - in AFAB in Parameters you give fiscal Year and give the Period for which month you want to Run the deprecation and under reason of posting  Select unPlanned Posting run , after this come down to Parameters to test run- give the Main asset Number i.e Asset Number for which you want to run Deprecation, first run in test mode then remove it and excute.
in the above process do not select any thing else.
with the above process you can run the Dep. for single Asset and month.
hope the above fullfills your requirment.
    Thanks

  • Depreciation posting for Book Assets to Cost Center

    Dear Friends,
We have upgraded from 4.70 version to ECC6.0 EHP4. Fixed Assets was not
implemented in 4.70. Now we are implementing Fixed Assets module in
    ECC6.0.
We have copied the Standard Chart of Deprecition 0IN from Client 000
and renamed the same as BCLL: Chart of depreciation: BCLL.
I defined asset masters and maintained Cost center and Bus Area in the
    Time Dependent area.
I maintained the configuration in Transaction Code ACSET for the
    default Cost Center.
But while posting depreciation i.e. AFAB, the system is throwing error
and not posting to the Cost center defined in the asset master.
Hence I am maintaining the Default Cost center in OKB9 for depreciation
    posting.
Please help me in resolving the issue.
    Best Regards
    Srinivas A

    Dear Friends,
As pointed out by you, I have already activated the Account Assignment KOSTL and also maintained the Account Assignment Object in ACSET but the system is throwing the error "Account 4850 requires an assignment to a CO object", Message Number KI235.
The system is not posting to the Cost Center maintained in the Asset Master record.
Hence I posted to the Cost Center maintained in OKB9 but I understand this is not the correct appraoch.

you can reverse posted depreciation by using OASV, but be VERY careful
that you reverse the FI and CO postings.

  • Problems posting depreciation for legacy assets taken over

We recently loaded conversion balances for asset with a takeover date of Aug 2nd, with various prior capitalization dates. The date of last depreciation posted was set as Dec 31st 2004. When we try to post unplanned depreciation for all of 2005 in December, the system says depreciation for period 12 was already posted, so do a repeat run. There was no depreciation actually posted for period 12, because there were no assets before today. A check of the expense account and depreciation report and a search by depreciation doc type confirm this.
When we try a repeat run, it says cannot do it for period 12, need to do it for period 000. When we try it for period 000, it says no depreciation areas to post to. The config has been checked and the depreciation areas and posting periods are set up correctly.  The load, the depreciation posting and all steps for closing of asset fiscal year were successfully carried out in DEV and QA. The only difference in PRD is that the year was closed before the load, but we reopened it.
Also, the opening balance in the asset history sheet for 2006 does not agree with the closing balance for 2005, the difference being the planned depreciation amount. The FI-AA reconciliation report RAABST02 also shows a difference only in the Accum Depn accounts, equal to this figure. So clearly the system THINKs depreciation was posted. When we try to close asset fiscal year it says depreciation was not completely posted for 2005, but it won't let us post it. HELP!

I tested this whole thing in DEV and QA before we did the same process in PRD, and I was able to run depreciation in those clients, so I think the problem is specific to PRD. As I mentioned, the only difference in PRD is that we had closed the fiscal year so I had to re-open it to perform the load.
Yes, the problem I have been experiencing has been for Dec 2005 and I don't expect there to be anything in TABA because the system simply will not let me post depreciation of any type, for any period in 2005. I've tried it for period 8 as well. No matter what, it keeps insisting that depreciation was already run for period 12 2005 and to do a repeat run. When I try a repeat run, it says 'the last posting run was for period 000' and that only period 000 can be posted in the repeat run. When I try doing it for period 000, it says "there are no areas to post to".
I did try to reverse the Y/E close with OAAQ for 2005, but still no luck getting depreciation running. So you see why resetting it was looking like a good option? :-0

  • Asset Depreciation Posting - AFAB

    Hi,
I have executed Depreciation with Test run in AFAB Transaction Code, it says Document Created. But when i execute the Depreciation run through Back ground process, it is not upadating the Depreciation GL account. Please guide me on this regard.
    Thanks
    Sivanand

    Dear,
    Sivanand.
Please check the T.code AFBP which is more reliable than SM37 log. If you have any inputs please provide as said in rest one thread so that any one can guide you to understand the situation.
AFBP shows the depreciation posted log. The report accesses the ANLP log table that was created during the depreciation posting run, and makes it possible to later ananlyze details of depreciation and account assignment per asset. By double-clicking on the document number, you can also jump to all accounting documents that were generated.
I hope this help clears you the issue. If you have any doubts please share.
    Regards,
    Pankaj A Bhalerao.

  • Block the Asset for Depreciation Posting

    Hi All,
Can anybody please tell me as to how to block the asset from depreciation posting. I need to stop the depreciaiton being posted to some assets.
    Regards,
    S.Suman

Tick the "DEACT" check box in depreciation area tab in asset master (AS02). This will deactivate depreciation posting to that perticular asset.

  • Distribution of Depreciation of an asset to multiple wbs elements??

    Dear Members,
    our requirement is as follows.
our cost centers are for 1) departments at head office level 2) Regional offices
whenever depreciation is calculated it's posted to Head office cost center and the same asset will be used for multple projects.
so here our requirement is the depreciation posted for a  particular asset is to be distributed to multple WBS elements or Regional offices (cost centers) ..
please guide us to meet this requirement.
    regards,
    sashi kanth

    Hi Sashi Kanth,
In Asset Accounting Module, you can only assign one cost center to a master data, so all the depreciation posted will be accumulated only on one asset master / cost center. Though, you can settle the multiple WBSelements to a single asset you cannot apportion the depreciation cost per WBS element.
To meet your requirement, you have to create separate Asset Master Records (AMR's) with the required Regional Office cost center, so you will get the depreciation cost regional office WBS element or cost center wise.
