Break point in ABAP Routine

Hi Gurus,
In working on 3.5 version. In one of the update rule by mistake break-point is included in the routine which is written for master data look up. and v r calculating the simple formula in the update rule thats it.
For this ODS only my loading performance is very slow does the inclusion of break-point  is impacting the loading ..
Pls let me know
Regards

Also one more thing is that even if you have a break point - very often loading is deon through process chains - this would mean that the load is done through a background user - this should not imipact the data loads since debugging cannot be done using a background user and it should skip these -
IMHO - I have put in break points and transported the same into production to help debug any exceptional cases which could not be caught in development.

    Hi,
    Breakpoints, Watchpoints, and Checkpoints
    Summary
The standard Breakpoints tool is always located on the Breakpoints desktop. With this tool, you can manage breakpoints, watchpoints and checkpoints. In addition, you can monitor the current status of the different breakpoint types.
    Detailed Description
    Breakpoints
In the Breakpoints area, you will see a list of all the breakpoints set so far. If one of the breakpoints has just been reached, this is marked with a yellow arrow. The visibility (Debugger, session, user) and type (line, ABAP command, …) is displayed for each breakpoint.
If you double click the Navigation() column, the system will display the breakpoint in the respective source code.
The visibility of a breakpoint can be changed through the dropdown list. To change the visibility of several breakpoints, mark them and select the pushbutton Save as Session Breakpoint or Save as User Breakpoint.
You can change the visibility of all Debugger breakpoints using the menu path Breakpoints-> Save Debugger BPs as -> ....
In addition, you have functions for creating, changing, activating and deactivating breakpoints at your disposal.
    Watchpoints
In the Watchpoints area, you will see a list of all the watchpoints set so far. The watchpoint last set is highlighted with a yellow arrow.
For each watchpoint you will see not only the current value but the value before the last changed. (Technically speaking, each time you create the watchpoint and each time the watchpoint variable is changed, a clone of this variable is created.)
In this way, you can always determine what changes have been made to the monitored variable. For complicated data structures, such as internal tables or structures, select the pushbutton „Compare Variables“( ) and choose the Diff tool to compare the old and new variable values.
In addition, you have functions for creating, changing, activating and deactivating watchpoints at your disposal.
    Checkpoints
In addition, you can edit conditional and unconditional checkpoints using the Breakpoints tool. This function is provided in the new Debugger only. Conditional checkpoints are set first in the source code using the ASSERTstatement; unconditional checkpoints are set using the BREAK-POINT statement. These have the effect that programs will be continued only if a preset condition is fulfilled. In the following window, these checkpoints can be searched for, activated, or deactivated.

  • ABAP routine in infopackage that runs function in ECC

    Hi All
I need to have dynamic filter in the info package
I have program in ECC that brings me the value that I need to filter in my info packege
I want to use  ABAP routine in infopackage that runs function in ECC and brings the value that was received from the ECC function
    Is that possible?
    Thanks

    Hi All
my CTO found the following option
function module that is "remote-enabled module "
then you call CALL FUNCTION 'Y_FM_IDOC_CATSDB' DESTINATION 'SAP4.7E'
you need to define it in SM59
    code example
data: BEGIN OF IT_SOBSL OCCURS 0,
          SOBSL(2),
          END OF IT_SOBSL.
DATA: ls_range type STANDARD TABLE OF rssdlrange WITH HEADER LINE.
    SELECT /BIC/ZSPEPROCI FROM /BIC/SZSPEPROCI INTO TABLE IT_SOBSL
WHERE /BIC/ZSPEPROCI NOT BETWEEN 'AA' AND 'ZZ'
                          AND /bic/zspeproci ne '' .
    BREAK-POINT.
    LOOP AT IT_SOBSL.
    ls_range-IOBJNM = 'SOBSL'.
    ls_range-LOW = IT_SOBSL-SOBSL.
    ls_range-SIGN = 'I'.
    ls_range-OPTION = 'EQ'.
    APPEND ls_range .
    ENDLOOP.
    loop at ls_range.
      append ls_range to l_t_range.
    endloop.

  • Dump while setting a break point in ECC 6.0

    Dear Experts,
In ECC 6.0, when I try to put a break point in the program to stop the control there. I am not able to do so, it is going to dump. The dump message is also not very clear. Do anyone of you are facing the same problem. Any idea why is this happening and how do I fix it.
Can it be due to the improper installation? Please respond.

First of all thanks to Mickey, Nitin, Anki, Sujit, Red, Madhu, Vibin for the quick response...To be honest I did not expect such a response as a new member to the SDN community...I am sorry I could not mention the detail about the dump initially...Here is the detailed description..
Issue: In ECC 6.0, when I write a simple ABAP program (e.g. 'Hello World' program). When I try to keep the cursor on any abap statement and click on the 'session break point' icon in the tool bar to set the break point, i get a status message 'Compling SAPLBREA in separate task and finally i get the dump.
    Dump Detail :
    Runtime Errors: DBIF_REPO_SQL_ERROR
Short Text : SQL error 1115 occurred when accessing program 'LNAVIDAT' part "SRC".
    Program: SAPLBREA
    Include: LBREATOP
    Row: 41
There is a an include being called at line no 41, which is "Include LNAVIDAT".
Now when I click on the 'debugger' icon in the dump...It points to a functional module "RS_SET_BREAKPOINT"
Also, while double clicking on this include to see the code within, it issues an error message saying "SQL error occurred when accessing the table TRDIR".
                                    Or
While trying to display the code of the include LNAVIDAT in se38 to see what is wrong with that i get another dump and this time it points to be SELECT query in the dump which is:
SELECT SINGLE * from PROGDIR WHERE name = rs38m-programm
                                                              and  state = active.
Thereafter, i keep getting dumps when i try to go to any T.codes (e.g. se11, se38 etc.). until i log off and log in again. Hope this helps you guys understanding the problem. Being new to SAP, I have no clue why is this happening and how to fix it. Thanks in Advance.

  • ABAP routine in Infopackage

I am in the process of creating an ABAP routine in the Infopackage to load current month based on system data from one cube in BW to another Cube in BW. I am getting the following error in the load. I am not an ABAPer and would appreciate if you can help or guide me with a sample code.
    Here is the error.
For sel. field '/BIC/Z_APOSNAP', no selection with SIGN = ''; OPTION '' allowed.
    Thank you
    Neelu

    Hi Neelu,
U can create a ABAP Routine of the type 6 (ABAP Routine),The field you are trying to populate is a select-option so you have to define both Sign and Option along with Low and High values.
As u want to load current month, from a system values , u can do it from sy-datum.
    data: l_idx like sy-tabix.
              read table l_t_range with key
                   fieldname = ''/BIC/Z_APOSNAP'.
                l_idx = sy-tabix.
                l_t_range-low =
                l_t_range-high =
                l_t_range-sign =
                l_t_range-option =
          modify l_t_range index l_idx.
              p_subrc = 0.
Just u can fill Sign as 'I' and Option 'EQ'.
Fill Low and High with values u get from System Data.
    Hope this Helps,
    Thanks,
    Krish

  • ABAP Routine in the InfoPackage

    Hello,
I need to write an ABAP Routine in the infopackage to populate the selection conditions automatically. Coding is for Fiscal year/Period and it should be populated as LOW - Pervious period and HIGH - Current period.
I tried to do the coding myself but couldn't able to fetch the current and previous periods. I would be grateful if some one can share the code with me.
    Best Regards,
    Nene.

    Hello,
    Try this.
    1) Identify the current period by inputting sy-datum to function module  'DATE_TO_PERIOD_CONVERT'.
    2) Find the first day of current period using function module
        'FIRST_DAY_IN_PERIOD_GET'
    3) Minus one day from the first day of current period to get previous period last date.
    4) Call the same function module 'DATE_TO_PERIOD_CONVERT' by inputting the previous period last date (derived in step 3).
    5) Pass the values to the infopackage code.
$$ begin of routine - insert your code only below this line        -
    data: l_idx like sy-tabix.
      read table l_t_range with key
           fieldname = '<field name>.
      l_idx = sy-tabix.
      l_t_range-SIGN   = 'I'.
      l_t_range-OPTION = 'BT'.
      l_t_range-LOW    = <previous period> (refer step 4)
      l_t_range-HIGH   =  <current period>  (refer step 1)
      modify l_t_range index l_idx.
    Thanks

  • Urgent: ABAP routine in transfer rules

    Hi,
when i am loading master data from R/3 into BW, i need to filter some records based on material type. there is no option in RSA6 (on R/3) or in Infopackage (BW) to make it available for filter.
So i assume i need to write ABAP routine in transfer rules. can some one help me with ABAP. i need to load the records only when MTART field(material type) in MARA is "FINI" or "RAW" and skip other records.
what is difference between deleting the whole data packet and deleting the record.
Thank you very much in advance
    Regards
    Emil

    Hi
Write the below code in the start routine of your transfer rules.
    Regards
    Prakash
DATA: IT_DATA        TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF TRANSFER_STRUCTURE
                         WITH HEADER LINE
WITH NON-UNIQUE DEFAULT KEY INITIAL SIZE 0.
    DATA: S_DATA, T_DATA TYPE TRANSFER_STRUCTURE.
    LOOP AT DATAPAK INTO S_DATA.
    IF S_DATA-MTART EQ 'A' OR S_DATA-MTART EQ 'B'.
    MOVE S_DATA TO T_DATA.
    DELETE S_DATA.
    ELSE.
    DELETE S_DATA.
    ENDIF.
    APPEND T_DATA TO IT_DATA.
    ENDLOOP.
    CLEAR T_DATA.

  • InfoPackage ABAP Routine

    Hi,
I have two text tables T1 and T2. The key in T1 and T2 are the same. Only point is T2 has very few records compared to T1.
T1 has key and Medium Texts. T2 has the same.
I am loading the data from T1 to T2. I need to write ABAP routine in InfoPackage to load the text data to T2 where the keys match in T1 and T2.
    Appreciate your help.
    Thanks,
    Pradeep

    Hello Kumar,
You can do this using the following algorithm:
    1) Read the text table for T2. The text table is named /BIC/T<name of T1 infoobject). For example, if my infoobject is ZSAMPLE, then my text table for that is /BIC/TZSAMPLE.
    2) For each row in T2, check if the key can be found in T1.
    3) If yes, then place the key for that current row in a selection.
    4) if not, ignore the key
    Here's a sample code:
    data: l_sel type  rssdlrange.
data: t_t2 type table of /BIC/TT2,
          e_t2 type  /BIC/TT2,
          e_t1 type /bic/tt1.
    select * from /BIC/TT2 into table t_t2.
    loop at t_t2 into e_t2.
select single * from /bic/tt1 into e_t1 where
        /bic/t1 = e_t2-/bic/t2.
      if sy-subrc eq 0.
        l_sel-fieldname = '/BIC/T1'.
        l_sel-SIGN = 'I'.
        l_sel-OPTION = 'EQ'.
        l_sel-LOW = e_t2-/bic/t2.
        append l_sel to l_t_range.
      endif.
    endloop.
    Hope this helps.
