Breaking Link Between Audio/Video Clips

Although this question I'm sure is simple, i'm not finding it in any of the documentation.
I need ONLY the Audio portion of some of my Audio/Video Clips. I can't break the link, so that I can slide the Audio Clip around on the time line. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Either hold down the OPTION key before you click on the audio, or look on the button bar above the timeline on the right. There are two default buttons, one being LINKED SELECTION. Turn that one off and audio and video will disconnect.

  • Use more than one transition in the same time between two video clips?

    Dear Premiere Pro programmers,
Could you please create a way to use more than one transition in the same time between two video clips without exporting to media, or creating new sequence, or using another layer (adjustment or transparent)?

    Hi Aqsa Nori,
I'm not sure what you are imagining, but it might be possible to achieve by key framing effects. Can you tell us what you want to do? Also, please feel free to file a feature request: http://adobe.ly/feature_request

  • Merge Audio & Video Clips.

    Okay i have 2 clips.
One is the Camera video + Audio
the other is the Audio from a boom microphone.
I have them both in a bin, but because they started at different times they are out of sync. I can place the video clip into the sequence, and then replace the audio of that with the audio from the boom mic. But then i want to edit them, and cut them up. Is there any way to 'merge' the boom mics audio with the video clip, all fully synced and place it back into a bin as a 3rd clip?
    Adam.

Maybe I am missing something here, but would not plugging the boom
into the XLR on the camera and disconnecting any other mic have been
    the better approach?
    Back
in the cine days, we recorded all Audio with a separate Nagra, that was
synced to the cameras, and then transfered to 16mm or 35mm tape, that
was locked in sync, and cut with the film. Slates were not yet digital,
    but worked perfectly.
    I
will assume that with a "feature film," you slated every take, right?
You'll have no issues with the syning, as you have the slate to cue you.
If I have missed something very important, then pardon my interruption,
    Hunt
I assume the first sentence was for the creator of the thread, but I'll address it in regard to our project.  We didn't use this method for several reasons, the biggest being that we were running several audio sources (wireless lavs on the actors and two booms in the room) and ran them to a multitrack recorder.  I would also site wanting to minimize cables running to the camera (more mobility, less cable wrangling) as another major reason to not use the camera for the audio capture.
In regard to the slate, of course we slated every take (digital slate).
The issue isn't that we don't have something to "visually" cue us.  The issue (and it's a major one), is that Premiere doesn't allow you to sync video with audio using time code (which both Final Cut and AVID do)... In Premiere you have to do it manually by eye (syncing wav forms to video).  On top of that, the only way to save linked audio and video is in a timeline or nested clips (ridiculously ineffiecient when syncing thousands of files).
You have to either export each linked clip as a new clip with audio and video, or create a nested clip with audio and video.
You SHOULD (as all other professional video programs do) be able to sync audio and video using the time code, and then have the program "remember" where they are synced (the video would simply have the audio locked to it at that point).
Having to lay out every clip in a tineline and either access it from said timeline (rather than a bin file) or create new nested clips for each and every clip (thus cluttering your bins and workspace) is incredibly ineffecient and time consuming.
Again, Adobe REALLY needs to address this issue.

  • Link Title To Video Clip - PE8

How do I link a "title" to a video clip so that it is locked and cannot shift when editing or deleting clips?

As you add or delete clips to and from your timeline, it should "ripple", keeping all of your clips in the same positions, relative to each other, but shifting all of your movie right or left as needed as a group.
    Is that not what's happening?

  • Where can I find the folders that hold the audio & video clips of a project

Unlike weapons of mass destruction, I know individual clips exists and that there is a folder somewhere on my harddrive that holds the audio and video clips of each iMovie project. Where can I find them?

They are inside the Project that was made when you first created and named it.
Right-click (Control click) and choose Show Package Contents. Navigate through these folders.
Do not add or remove items as you may ruin the Project.

  • How to edit a multiple audio video clip on Premiere

    Hello everybody
Maybe this is a dumb question, I'm sorry if I'm asking what is obvious for you, but I swear I tried to find on the web and on this forum, but I couldn't find anything.
Well, I made a video using a screen capture software called Dxtory, that provides me the ability to record my PC screen, with multiple audio tracks.
Ok, now I have a 15gb avi file. When I open this file in the Media Player Classic, I can play one or both channels. The first channel is the original audio captured from my PC. Every audio generated by my PC is in this track. The second track is my voice, with my commentaries. I have all of this in one single file. They are not splited. It's just one file.
Then when I import into Premiere, the software just recognize the video track and the first audio track. I can't find the second, with my voice.
I know I can split the clip into 3 files (1 video and 2 audios) but it would take longer. I just want to drop the file on Premiere and edit the audio volumes quickly, because when I talk I would like to low the volume of the PC audio.
Now, the question: Is there a way to Premiere recognize both tracks in this single file? How?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm actually surprised that Pr can import this at all--the video is Xvid. Maybe it's some variant that Pr's importers can handle, as Jeff suggested. I dunno--it doesn't play well for me, regardless, and I'm not going to install the Dxtory codec to find out.
Anyway, to the matter at hand: while AVIs can, apparently, contain multiple audio tracks, Pr's importers are limited to a single track. However, Pr has other importers than can handle multiple audio tracks. QuickTime--which is a wholly different process--supports multiple audio tracks, as does MXF (some flavors). However, Xvid in QuickTime (which is feasible) won't import in Pr (at least on a PC), and Xvid won't go into an MXF file at all; that means you'd have to transcode. Personally, this would be my choice--but I found that the original clip played back pretty terribly, so that would be why I'd go that route.
Additionally, you could extract the second audio track to a separate WAV file, import both the AVI and WAV, and then use the Merge Clips feature to marry them together as one pseudo-clip. Not perfect, but it would work. The benefit is that you don't re-encode anything.
So, I've got solutions for both the re-encode/MXF option (my preference) and the AVI/WAV option. Here's proof of the MXF (transcoded video to XDCAMHD422 50Mbps) with four audio channels (stereo must be split to dual mono):
At the end of the day, these (or a variation of them) are your only options. Pr simply won't import multiple audio tracks (even dual mono) in an AVI container. Let me know if you're interested in either of the solutions.

  • Grouping synced audio + video clips into one clip?

I've been asked to edit some footage together that was shot by some other people. They recorded the audio separate from the video on a Marantz device, but they used a clapboard to mark everything so it shouldn't be too much of a problem to sync the audio files with the video files.
I can do that in the timeline, but I'd like to know if I can take multiple audio files and sync them with the one large video stream and have them treated as one single clip so I can easily cut them and put them in the timeline as usual?

Just put them all in to a timeline and when you have them synced properly export the timeline as a reference or self-contained quicktime and re-import that file.

  • Reconnecting Audio/Video clips

If I have removed the audio or video portion of the clip...is there a way to recconnect (or add back together) them?
    Thanks!

If the audio or video portion removed is from a clip in the timeline, just drag over the clip from the browser and reinsert it.
Unselect (using the little connection thingies on the left side of the timeline) the portion of the clip you do not need.

  • How to break link between iWeb and web gallery?

I have created an external webpage with the use of iWeb, and I have inserted the photos widget through the web gallery which sits on my personal .Mac account (ie. different to the external website which has an independent - no mac - .com address)
I would like people to view the picture widget on the external website (a business website) I have created, but I do not want them to click on it and then be directed to my home web gallery. Basically I just want them to be able to see the rolling pictures, but nothing more.
Does anyone know how to avoid this link from working?

    Hi Kodi,
As far as I know, the object link to material is part of SAP standard customer delivery. Then there is really small customer settings you have to maitain, actually the fields Destination and Web server, as the SAP never knows the name of the system, which customer will use.
Or you talk about others than the 0PLANTMATERIAL, 0PLANTMAT_LONG. If you create new object link type, the install guide  'Collaboration Projects (cProjects): Guide Impl. Object Link ' in the https://websmp105.sap-ag.de/plm-inst should give you detailded information.

  • Sync multiple video clips with one audio track

I'm an FCPX noob, trying to sync some clips.  I recorded a 1.5 hour concert with a DSLR along with an audio track using a separate digital recorder.  I have seven video clips, all in sequence (stopping and restarting the camera because of clip length limitations) and one long audio track in WAV format.  The audio track is longer than the combined video clips, and there are some short dead spaces in between the video clips when I turned off/on.  Now I'm trying to sync them but when I do, the video clips get stacked together with lots of overlap.
I made a test with 3 minute video and audio clips and had no problem.  But when I try to do the whole event, I get a jumbled mess.
I could cut the audio into pieces and sync each piece with its corresponding video, but that seems to defeat the sync process, as well as being a lot of work.  And, wouldn't I end up with lots of overlap anyway, since my audio clips would have to be longer than my video clips?
Am I missing an easier way to do this, or a way to arrange things better?  I can't imagine the problems with several cameras and several audio tracks; my project is actually pretty simple, since it is very linear.
    Any suggestions?  Thanks--

Sorry to take so long getting back to you.  Thank you for this advice, but I'm not sure I'm doing it correctly.  Is there a way to set the angle on all of the clips at the same time?
Yes. Select all the clips you want in the browser, and then in the inspector fill in the camera angle with the value you want. This can be just about anything, it does not have to be a number. I prefer to name  it something meaningful, like "wide" or something.

  • Linking Video Clips

    Hello,
I am wondering if there is a way to link a secondary video clip to my primary video clip so that I can move one and keep the other positioned correctly.
I know you can do this with things like audio, but when I try to link my two video clips together, the command "Link" under the "Modify" menu is grayed out.
    Thanks,
    Matt

You can make a new sequence and copy and paste the clips into the new sequence. Use the new sequence like a clip, nested into the master sequence. That's the only way to link video elements.

  • Can PP make a video clip find its matching audio and pull it.

I have a SEQ that i created. I made 2 copies of the same seq.
Then i used the copy to ad the razamataz.
Then i unlinked the audio and exported that to an aiff.
I opened the aiff in soundtrack. Doctered it a bit and exported an aiff file from there.
I reimported that aiff and put it back on the TL .It matched flawlessly.
Then the client all of a sudden wants me to add another clip.
When i open up PP the original seq was no where to be found.
So is it possible to use the clip on the TL to pull the audio back to at least 1 clip at a time?
Can premier ad that audio clip back to the TL (w/ handles) or am i just simply facing a replace clip and re-edit the video situation?

Its not a large project.  38 clips, 9 SEQs, 14 composition elements, 4 audio elements
I am gonna chalk it up to operator error why the original is gone.
I think this is a straight up 'replace clips' and copy grade situation. Then i gotta reclean the audio.
I did figure out that the fastest way to replace the audio clip was to 'reveal in 'project' , load to source monitor and pull the audio stream.
Maybe CS6 will have the ability to "replace audio/video clip with original source" comand or something to that effect.
    Thanks for your responses.

  • Linking three or more clips with transitions in FCP7

I am cutting my first lengthy FCP7 project from 15 minutes down to ten.
There are a few segments of this video which I would like to keep together -- link. None of these clips in these segments are linked together at all (no underlines).
However, I discover when I use the Command key and darken the two videoclips, the transition between them, and the audio clips that goes underneath all that, the Link function under Modify is greyed out. There's no way to treat these two video clips with transition along with the audio I set under it as a unit.
Am I doing this wrong or is there a workaround when I want to link multiple clips (i.e. three or more) together, even if it includes a transition between the video clips?
    THANKS.

Two ways come to mind ... #1  Nest the clips - select (highlight) the clips in the Timeline, then go to Sequence->Nest Items.
#2  Set an IN and OUT point for the parts you want to combine, then export a self-contained movie.  Import the resulting file into your project and use it to replace the original individual clips .

  • How merge audio/video for easy cropping and editing

I'm trying to build a movie by importing my audio and video clips separately from Cinematize. (This is the only solution because Imovie has a bug and shows the movie file as distorted widescreen - and transitions don't work with a .dv file) I have about 5 different extracted imports - or 5 clips. That means 5 video.mov files and 5 .aiff files
The problem is this - I want to lock/merge the audio to the video FOR EACH CLIP - not to the play head. I want to end up with several merged audio/video clips for easy cropping. Is this possible? Otherwise how do I crop the video clips and keep the audio clips exactly in sync?

    Hi:
You can make your movie and export back to tape and then reimport to imovie, Then the audio will be on the actual video clips.

  • How can I match sound quality between video clips and audio clips?

    Hi guys,
First of all let me say that I enjoy using the latest Media Encoder. However, as a novice, I have two related problems.
1.I am recording video to use with PowerPoint slides in Adobe Captivate. I am encoding the video with best quality FLV. This produces very good video,
but with a degraded audio track, even though I had filtered the audio in soundbooth. The post encoding sounds like it did before Soundbooth corrections.
    2. Some of the video recording has been set cut into audio clips to be used as background narration behind PowerPoint. The logic behind this is: that if both are
recorded at the same time, the voice quality should match.
This is far from the outcome. I have tried MP3 for the audio which of course produced the best sound- but is entirely unlike the rest of the video. I have also encoded the audio with Windows Waveform preset figuring that since the soundbooth edit was a .wav file, that there should be a reasonable match. Wrong again!
So, the audio quality of all clips is poor, and the difference between the encoded video clips, and the audio encoded clips spoils the otherwise professional result in Captivate.
Please help, all of you experts.

    Thank you.
    OS Windows 7 x 64; 3.2 MHz; 2 TB; 12 GB Ram-9GB ram allocated to Adobe.
    My process is this:
    1. The whole video and audio narration material is shot in one continuous video sesseion.
    2. The microphone is only mono, but the camera is set to stereo. Noone can work out how to change the camera to mono.
    3. In Premiere Pro 5, I select render and replace in SoundBooth.
    4. In Soundbooth, I choose Add Multichannels.
    5. In Multichannels, I delete the unwanted noisy channel, and any other unused channels.
    6. With the remaining mono channel, I then select Export and Save As option, then Stereo.
    7. Next I edit the stereo channels as needed.
    8. The imported stereo won't automatically update in Premiere Pro, so in PPR I import the new edited stereo track.
    9. I test this track in PPR, to check that it is playing R & L channels. It is. OK.
10 On the timeline, I proceed to cut apart this single stereo wavelength .
11.These clips are saved as Video, or Audio subclips.
12 From the video subclips, I export to Media Encoder, and choose either FLV4 match attributes (High Q). This I modify to custom 2 pass (Custom save).
The summary says that this is saved to MP3 Stereo.
    13. I import this into Captivate 5, but the Video outcome is Left channel only. I have tested this on Media Player/Real Player where it is also L channel only.
    14. I export my Audio subclips to Media player, and select MP3 option and this summary also reports stereo. The Audio outcome is stereo, when played in any player and in Captivate 5.
I cannot understand how a single, continuous track edited uniformly in Soundbooth to stereo, can produce different outcomes in Media player.
I would so appreciate a solution to this problem, because, in the Captivate 5 e-learning production, the switch between stereo audio (behind PowerPoints), and l. channel video is distracting. Naturally, the l. channel only is a thin sound. It is as if it had never been edited in SoundBooth at all.
