BRFplus: Standard /BOFU/ applications

Hello,
We have a lot of applications /BOFU/ in our standard installation of BRFplus. In the application /BOFU/FDT (description: BOPF Add-Ons for FDT) we have a new class expression (retrieve BO data).
What is the origin of these applications? Are there standard applications of BRFplus (like FDT_SYSTEM)? Which is its purpose? For instance, in /BOFU/FCF there are only data elements, structures and tables, but there is no function .

I am also not sure how does this function (inside method MERGE_PROPERTY_SETS) processed ..which application/transaction.
Did you check the BRF+ demo package "SFDT_DEMO_OBJECTS". It creates brf+application & required objects dynamically & process function. May be this help you complete end to end scenarios.
May be you could give me the what functional software version you have like..ISU,,PLMWUI or TRM anything..or may be you just try to check 'where used list' of "IF_FDT_FUNCTION" interface. This is list (except "FDT_*"namespace) where the BRF+ integrated.& check this can be triggered.

How to use the Portal Connection Service in a standard J2EE application

We want to use portal connection service to connection backgend system from a standard j2ee application.
But the connection need a connectionProperties object which is created in this way:

Because the "request" object is IPortalComponentRequest object, which is a portal object. In our standard application, we can use this way.
So how?

Enhancing standard BSP application by using WebDynpro components

Hi all,
We have standard BSP application delivered by SAP; we need to enhance the functionality and some new views to meet our requirement. We have planned to develop new things in WebDynpro ABAP and attach those to BSP.
Is it good practice to use WebDynpro component instead customizing BSP application?
If any body has fair knowledge on BSP and WDA, please let me know.

Default values for standard WebDynpro application

Hi all,
We are using standard WebDynpro applications (as an example Leave Request as part of ESS).
Are there any functionalities in a standard WebDynpro to set a specific field initially (default value for a dropdown list for example) via the url?
To be more concrete:
On a specific portal page I would like to call the Leave Request application with the Leave Type set to the parameter I passed via this url (e.g. http://mywasserver:50000/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/ess~lea/leaveRequest&leavetype=Exceptional%20Leave)
Any thoughts are welcome.

At the default inplug of your interface view create a parameter that you need to access for e.g LeaveType in this case.
The variable will recieve the value automatically from the url.
Set the value in the context variable of the component controller and then access it from the view.

Integration in a standard J2EE application

I'm developing a standard J2EE application and I need to interact with a WebCenter Content Server (for example to find files having a specified name).
I don't have any idea on how I can do it, please give me an input.

Standard WDA Application - Change UI element image

Dear All,
SNC 5.1 Out of Box solution provides its Web UI in the form of WDA appications.
1. How do I change the image of a UI element for such a Standard WDA Application.
2. Also, is it possible to do the modifications in such a way that only a certain group of users can see the modified UI element and the rest see the standard Out of box solution?

Worst case scenario, you could use the Enhancement Framework to extend the existing application. You can't modify existing UI element - but you can hide existing ones and then add a custom one. You could also add pre- or post- method implementations. Here is some details on the Enhancement Framework specific to WDA:

I used session logging to trace the class called. I am not able to use HTTP Watch. It is on the Client's network using Citrix. Hence cannot install it. but no doubt that is a better way.

Enhancinig a standard BSP application/page (/SCF/UIBSP)

Hi Experts,
We have a requirement to enhance stanard BSP page (application /SCF/UIBSP, ICH, SCM system). I understand that we can't enhance stanard BSP pages like we do in R/3 or ABAP. Please confirm.
Incase I need to copy the entire application to a Z/Y program, I would like to know if I have to take any precautions. I am little concerned, as this is the main ICH page delivered by SAP.

Yes the appliation we are about to enhance used MVC design pattern. So I hope I can use the program u suggested.
Below is our requirement.
We have a Standard BSP application, /SCF/UIBSP called from program /SCA/ICH_START. This BSP application has a Tree View. We have to add one more node in that tree and when clicked on it we need to display a page with some static text and a button. And when User clicks on that button we need to call an RFC from our R/3 system and get data from it and download the same data into a local system(of user).

Acessing EJB from standard java applications

What is the best way to access Enterprise Java Beans from a standard java Application? Any suggestions, documentation, links, ... are welcome.
To illustrate the problem, take the shopping cart example (http://java.sun.com/j2ee/tutorial/1_3-fcs/doc/Session.html). Suppose I now want to create a shopping cart from another swing application started with the 'java' command and not the 'runclient' command. Is this possible? Has it been done before? What is the best thing to do ? Both the J2EE application (like the shopping cart) and the plain java application are already used by customers and cannot be fundamentally changed (the java command cannot be replaced by runclient).

Several options are available.
The easiest is to have the java app call the EJB via RMI/IIOP. You should wrap that process in the "ejb-home factory" and "business delegate" design pattern. I recommend downloading this design pattern book and reading it through.

How to extract the code of standard webdynpro application

We are on ECC5.0, ERP2004 ESS/MSS ,EP6
Can someone tell me, How can we get the code of a standard webdynpro application into NWDS.
( I am familiar that, to modify the standard ESS applications, we need to use JDI.)
is it compulsory that , unless and until i have JDI i can't see that code , no other way?

Customer exit for Custominzing standard BSP applications?

Hello everyone,
I'm getting start in BSP applications and the only thing that I need to do at the moment is to write a LOG in a table when user goes to a Purchase Order detail view, print or download.
Is there any way to insert a code in the standard BSP application, like an exit?

Where do you want to put your customer exit on ?
Do you have a specific BSP application in mind ?
Usually, people code their own BSP applications, that is why you don't find customer exit. It is only relevant for standard code.
<i>About the aspect of writing a log it is more pure ABAP-oriented so you might find a better audience in the ABAP programming forum.</i>
