Bridge CS3 opens at wrong location

My older versions of Bridge always opened wherever I last closed it. Now it picks a file and stays there for about a week until it shifts to another file for another week. It's a time waster for me to have to reopen the file every time.
Any suggestions?
thanks!
Karen

Usually Bridge opens with the folder and workflow last open when quitting the application.
If not try resetting the preferences using shift + option + command keys while starting Bridge. Choose reset preferences and normally you should be OK.

  • Bridge CS3 "Open in Camera Raw" unavailable (grayed out)

I am using Bridge CS3 (2.0.0.975; and Photoshop CS3) under Vista Home Premium. I have two accounts on this system (one administrative "root," and my primary limited user account).
My problem: under my primary account (even if I switch it to administrative), unless I open raw files with ACR, I cannot access "Open in Camera Raw..." under the file menu (as it is grayed out and inaccessible while trying to open jpg files, etc.). However, using the administrative account I can access/use the command. I tried uninstalling CS3, switching my primary to administrative and reinstalling using my primary account, but it still appears grayed out and I still cannot open files using the abbrev "Ctrl+R." Note, I can open jpg files in ACR, but this must be the default for all jpg files not ones that I select to open.
Also, under preferences>Labels, I need to uncheck the "Require the Control Key to Apply Labels and Ratings" every time Bridge is restarted as it will not save from startup to startup. Any help is appreciated. --Greg

There are 3 places to check this option, 1 in Bridge preferences itself, 1 in the camera raw preferences via Bridge and the last one in the PS preferences from PSCS3 itself.
They all should have a checkmark. But there are some issues with this option. You might also want to refresh the preferences with restarting Bridge an holding down option key and after doing so again check and set the prefs to your wishes.

  • Bridge CS3 - "Open in Camera Raw..." no longer working

The "Open in Camera Raw..." feature for JPG is no longer available in Bridge CS3. It was just working last week but now it does not appear when I right click on an image, it's grayed out in the menu and Command-R is disabled. Anyone know what's up? Doesn't work from Photoshop CS3 either.

  • Adobe Bridge CS3 not opening Photoshop Image Processor

I selected one, four, and multiple pictures in Bridge to reduce the file size of jpgs. I went to Tools > Photoshop > Image Processor. Nothing happened. Photoshop did not open. That got me to thinking that sometimes while I am in Photoshop Bridge won't open either. Any ideas on resolving issue of "Bridge not opening Photoshop Image Processor" would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Curt Y, Everything is checked in the "Startup Scripts," including Bridge (twice) and Photoshop (twice). Not sure why duplicate entries but there are.
If you mean that you have two of the same versions (both CS3) in there that indicates there is something wrong with your install
If you have any suggestions regarding being able to access the Image Processor to resize pictures and such without first opening Photoshop, I'd greatly appreciate it. If not, the work around will have to suffice.
My first goal would be to reset the preferences for both PS and Bridge and then try again

  • Unable to Open Images in Bridge CS3 and Continuing Icon issues!

Re: Icon issues in Bridge CS3 and also with Photo Downloader that have never been there before.
So, these are the issues.   Just one of the folders that previously would show thumbnails now only shows DNG icons, and none will open in Photoshop to let me work on previous image.    Issue #2  - can't download images with Photo Downloaders - both my wife's Canon G9 only shows CR2 icons, and my Nikon D300 only shows NEF icons - neither of these issues had appeared before or been an issue.  Third issue.  None of my Bridge folders - even those with regular thumbnail immages- will open now - get a message that says words to the effect of Photoshop doesn't recognize this type of file.  Computer is a Mac, with OS 10.5.8
I recently tried to make more room on HD, so must have taken some critical files/commands out by accident.
Thanks for your time and previous  suggestions - still not working.  I'm sure that in trying to correct things have made things even worse- as may be noticed  by the two snapshots I've attached.  The first is one from a library from my user section.  The second library image is from my hard drive.  Hopefully you and others aren't laughing or crying too much over what you see - redundantcy, etc!  All of my energies have focused on taking photos, obviously none to proper setup/use of organizing things on my Mac.  But after the laughing has stopped, any help will be tremendously appreciated - am most anxious to getting back to working with and saving images.

    Thanks in advance

First of all, if you don't know much about how applications work inside of the OS, its wise to not look in the application folder(s). Deleting anything here can make your apps go haywire. If this happened, then you are best to 1)unregister photoshop, 2) uninstall your entire suite. 3) reinstall the suite and finally 4) reregister photoshop.
All images/textures/photo's including dng, cr2 and nef files need to be stored in your pictures folder and no where else, unless you're an intermediate user on your OS. In your pictures folder you can create folders for organizing the pictures whether by location, season's, time, or file format.
Then when you back up you can just drag a copy of the files to another drive including cd's or dvd's.
This will make sure you don't accidently delete important app files.
All this said, my OS of choice is Windows, so if anything does not sound right, thats why.
    Hopefully this helps...

  • Couldn't open RAW files in Bridge Cs3

    Hi,
the RAW files (CR2) cannot be opened/developed with using Bridge CS3. When I double click the file (CR2) in Bridge, it just gave this prompt in Photoshop, "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file."
I used to be able to open Raw files in my friend's G5 using Bridge. When I double click the file, it will automatically open the Canon Camera Raw with settings for me to adjust before I develop the picture. However when I tried on my own computer, it came out the prompt I mentioned above.
Please advise what is the problem with my Bridge. Do I need to reintall the whole of Adobe suite?
    Thank you so much.

    Brian
first check again the right location of (only one!) ACR plug in (see post 3 of this thread for details)
Then quit Bridge, in user library go to preferences and manual trash the plist file for Bridge (com.adobe.bridge2.plist), restart again with option key and again reset prefs.
If this is still not working create a new user account and check if Bridge is working correctly in this new user, if so your user account is corrupt and you should do maintenance for the OS (Archive and install).
If still no luck go again to the user library/cache/Adobe/BridgeCS3/cache. This cache file can grow to the enormous portions, check the size and if you wish make a copy for back up. Then delete this whole cache file by dragging it to the trash. Again delete plist file and again restart option to refresh prefs. By deleting the cache file you will need to recache all your folders so it is a very hard way but it worked for me several times.

  • Opening RAW files with Bridge CS3

When I try to open a RAW file from Bridge CS3 it defaults to Mac Preview and does not open Photoshop Elements 6 RAW converter.  If I open a RAW file outside of Bridge it work fine.  What did I do wrong??   Using a iBook G4 with OS 10.5.8 and Photoshop Elements 6 and new Camera RAW plugin for my Panasonic LX3 camera.  hjz62

Bridge requires the latest version of Adobe Camera Raw to be installed.  http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4581 Adobe states that this is the latest version of camera raw compatible with PSE-6 Mac. Others may have additional information.
As to the issue of defaulting to Apple software, this issue is usually a configuration problem wherein certain file extensions are granted permissin to be summarily opened by a given program. ((Right clicking any given file, then choosing "open with", and selecting a given program  is a work around, but to avoid this step, you need to reconfigure your program settings.)) This is the Windows file path/solution, I am not familiar with Mac. I am confident that the issus is the same

  • Adobe Bridge CS3 photo downloader won't auto-open.

    Hi,
    This is my mystery:
I can open Bridge/File/Get Photos From Camera/, and select my cf card drive. But the Photo Downloader box USED to pop up when I first put my card in the reader. This does not happen any more - and I can't figure out why, or how to reset it.
    Any ideas?

This may add Bridge to your list of "Open XXX with" programs.
    1) Using Windows Explorer, browse to any of the photographs on your system - not necessarily on your camera card. It's helpful if all of your photographs are JPGs or TIFs, but not necessary.
    2) Right-click one of the photo files and select "Properties".
    3) Near the top of that dialog is "Open with <program name>", and there should be a "Change..." button to the right of that. Click the Change button.
    4) On the "Open With" dialog, click the "Browse..." button and browse to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Bridge CS3\Bridge.exe and click OK.
    5) Now, still on the "Open With" dialog, make sure the "Always use the selected program..." check-box is turned OFF. (If you can't turn it off, that shouldn't be a problem.
    6) Click OK and then close your Windows Explorer.
At this point, you should be able to complete step 6) from my previous post. (Of course you'll have to follow all of those steps from my previous post.)

  • Adobe Bridge CS3 is crashing everytime it attempts to open.

I am running a MacBook Pro with 10.9.4.  Today when I attempted to open Bridge CS3, it crashed. No error. Just crash. Repeatedly.  I have deleted all Adobe and reinstalled, but Bridge continues to crash. I have used the "shift/option" menu to reset prefs, etc, and it still crashes. I downloaded a supposed patch for Bridge & installed it even though my APP store didn't want me to, and Bridge continues to crash.
I'm a photographer and depend on Bridge as my photo browser.
Any other ideas for me to try?

Well, I don't know what just happened to the gremlins, but get this:
On a whim, I held down only the shift key while attempting once again to open Bridge. And it OPENED without crashing.
I was afraid to let up on the key...but I did and Bridge did not crash. I browsed a couple of photo folders, closed Bridge....reopened it WITHOUT the shift key & it opened. I've now tried that several times and it's not crashing. And while I'm glad it's working, I'm not holding my breath that it will continue to work.  WEIRD.
I'm going to re-start the macbook pro and see what happens.

  • Bridge CS3 Will not open at all

I get the hour glass for about 1/2 second and nothing else. I have looked and the program is there but will not open. I have unistalled are reinstalled everything but it will not open. All the other Design Premium products are working??? Any suggestions?

Trying to reset preferences of an Adobe application by clicking a Desktop icon has never worked for me - not Bridge, not Photoshop, not any. However, THIS always works for me:
    Try this:
    1) Press and hold Ctrl+Alt+Shift, and do not release them until I tell you to.
    2) Select the following menus: Start => All Programs => Adobe (whatever suite) => Adobe Bridge CS3.
    3) You're still holding down the three keys, right?
    4) In a few moments, the Reset Settings dialog will appear containing three checkboxes.
    5) Finally, release the Ctrl+Alt+Shift.
    6) Turn on all three checkboxes and click OK.
People swear by the Ctrl+click icon method, but that has never worked for me.
You can also delete the cache manually:
    1) Browse to:
    C:\Documents and Settings\{your name}\Application Data\Adobe\Bridge CS3
    2) Delete the Cache folder found there.

  • Can I set Bridge CS3 double-click to open photo in PhotoShop Elements?

I've just purchased PhotoShop Elements 6 for my Macinstosh and would like a double-click on a photo in Bridge CS3 to automatically open in Photoshop Elements 6 for editing. Can this be done and how?

Doesn't Elements 6 for Mac come with its own version of Bridge?
Sorry, but you'll find a lot more users who are familiar with Photoshop Elements in the Photoshop Elements forum:

  • Can only open some JPEG files in Camera Raw through Bridge CS3

I'm running Bridge CS3 version 2.0.0.975. I always edit my JPEG files through Camera Raw in Bridge CS3. I only have to Right-Click on the file and select "Open in Camera Raw...". However, I've come into a situation where some jpg files will not open this way; the option is not even there.
I have made sure to tick the box in preferences under Behavior "Double-Click Edits Camera Raw Settings in Bridge", and also tick the box under Thumbnails -> Performance and File Handling "Prefer Adobe Camera Raw for JPEG and TIFF Files.
These files were originally 16bit Grayscale TIFF files, but I changed them to RGB 8bit JPEG files.
Also, I know the program works because I navigate to an older photo I worked which is a JPEG and the "Open in Camera Raw..." option is there when I Right-Click, but then I navigate back to the image I want to edit, and the option is not there.
Here are links to my screenshots of what I'm talking about. Both images in the last two screenshots are JPEG:
    General Prefs - http://img535.imageshack.us/i/prefgeneral.png/

When I open Photoshop CS3, then go File -> Open As and change the Format Type to "Camera Raw", the JPEG files vanish and I can only see the TIF files. When I open them, it doesn't open in Camera Raw, but rather opens like a normal file would.
That's a fundamental problem right there, and a clue in all this.  You should be able to see JPEGs in the Open As Camera Raw dialog.
What happens if you type in the name?
I'm almost convinced you have a file named .jpg but with a different image format inside.  Can you put one of these files online for others to try to open?

  • Can't open Camera Raw from Bridge CS3

Need Help with the following issue. Until recently I was able to open & edit camera raw files in Bridge CS3. Tried to update Bridge from Adobe website and all of a sudden the "open in camera raw" option under File is greyed out. Also right-clicking the raw (CR2) file does not allow me to open the file in camera raw and I can't view the files as thumbnails any longer. When I double click the file Photoshop opens and subsequently camera raw. I have really lost the convenience of opening the file in Bridge and I'm afraid my workflow will suffer. Any help would be appreciated. I am running Windows 7. Thanks.

I am having this exact same problem and just upgraded to Windows 7...many people are saying to update the Plug In for Camera Raw to 4.6, but that is not working for me to see it in Bridge or Camera Raw.

  • Cannot open image files in PS CS3 from Bridge CS3

Cannot open file in Photoshop CS3 (10.0.1) from Bridge CS3 (2.1.1.9)
Tried choosing File>Open and double clicking the image thumbnail
Error dialogue box pops up and reads:
    Windows cannot find\C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop CS\Photoshop.exe
I wouldnt expect CS\Photoshop.exe to be found because CS3\Photoshop.exe upgrade is installed.
Will downloading the Adobe Photoshop update for Adobe Photshop CS3 (11/15/2007) or Adobe Bridge CS3 update for Adobe Bridge CS3 (11/15/2007) be my best bet for correcting this problem?

Thanks to Freeagent for pointing me to the solution.
    For fellow Windows XP user's:
Control Panel > Folder Options > File Types
It would have been nice if the Install Wizard of PS would have handled this automatically or had an advisory instruction to manually associate image files in Windows XP.
I thought all along this was a Photoshop CS3 / Bridge CS3 problem since Bridge was calling for both the image file and Photoshop.
If Freeagent has anyone's ear at Adobe please pass this on.
    Thanks Again
