Broadband fusion usage by device

We have two computers and three iphones that share our Fusion router. Is there any way to measure how much usage each device is responsible for?

We know monitoring usage is important oiseaux831! You should be able to track usage on each device by dialing #DATA or accessing your My Verizon account online. http://tiny.cc/ssw65w

  • Allocating Bandwidth and monitoring usage by device

Can this ben done? I'd like to limit bandwidth to one of my computers, also monitor usage by device.
    Thanks,
    Hank

If your goal is to prevent users on your local network to be able to go to certain websites or category of websites, two simple solutions would be: DynDNS and OpenDNS.
If you are looking at tools that monitor network traffic, there a quite a few out there ... ranging from free to ultra expensive. The latter aimed at corporate or governmental use. One such product for both home or commercial use is Net Monitor.

  • Charged for broadband over usage but still below l...

Hi guys,i hope someone here can help because i'm getting nowhere with bt helplines. At the end of january this year i changed from bt total broadband 1 to infinity. My old broadband limit was 10gb but i usually went over by 2 or 3 gb which i was obviously charged for, no problem there. With my new infinity package my allowance was increased to 20gb per month which was plenty enough for me.however, mybt usage monitor is still showing me to be on the old 10gb package.
Despite several live chat sessions and phone calls(the last one 2 weeks ago informing me i had 40gb usage) i'm still being charged for going over my 10gb allowance.i've even sent them,as requested , a screen shot of my usage monitor!! Why on earth would i have to do that? My latest bill arrived this morning with charges added for over usage.
Can someone please advise me of how to sort this problem out. To make things worse i'm now going to the dentist!
    Thanks in advance,

  • Broadband over-usage - being charged for first mon...

    Hi there,
Last month I went over my broadband usage on option 2, but was informed at the time that I wouldn't be charged for this as you only get charged if you go over again. I've now upgraded to option 3 so this won't happen again. However, I received an email this morning saying that I will have to pay £40 for going over during that first month period.
The chap I spoke to on the phone said not to worry as I've already been told I won't be charged but I would really like confirmation that this is the case as I cannot afford to pay this money. As far as I'm concerned, that was first month usage and I shouldn't be charged.
    Many thanks, Adam.

Hi Adam. You are correct, you should not be charged the first month:
"If you exceed your usage allowance, you'll be charged for additional usage in units of five gigabytes (GB), at £5 per 5GB. Charges will apply from the second month you exceed your allowance and will be shown on your BT bill."

  • Broadband monthly usage BT Broadband Option 1

We started using BT Broadband Option 1 last month and have a download limit of 10GB each month.  We were quite surprised to receive an email saying we'd already used over 7.5GB during February.  We don't download music or films and most of our internet useage is sending a few emails, some browsing (but not excessive) and Facebook most days for a while.  Does anyone know whether using Facebook for games would cause our usage to be high?  I also bought a card making computer programme which involved some digital downloads, so maybe this has also added a lot to the usage.(Our previous internet provider gave a 40GB allowance, so we've never come across this problem before but the customer service was so bad we needed to change.) Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Thanks again to you both. It's made us a bit wiser how quickly the allowance can be used up.  Thanks also for pointing out where we can find the usage monitor.  I've made a note of it and will be checking the monitor daily.
    Hi Susie.
For a quick link to the usage monitor, have a look at my shortcuts (link below) options 14d-14j - the latter two are for the newest version.

  • Show power usage for devices

Is there anyway I can see the power usage on either a 3550 switch and/or 7301 router? I have some far away I wish to see the usage off.
Devices with module power supplies like cat 4500s/6500s/7600 etc all have commands like "show power ...", which will show me input voltage, current and power usage in watts. Is there anything like this for devices without module power supplies?

Sadly that doesn't seem to be very useful on a 3550 or 7301. I know these platform are bit old but there are many of them out there in the wild still churning away. Bit of a shame they can't do something I would consider basic, to show their own power usage. Still thanks for the suggestion!

  • Total Broadband additional usage charges ...

I'm a loyal BT Phone & Broadband customer (have been for 15 years) and I was somewhat shocked upon receiving my latest quarterly bill to notice that my direct debit payments had been bumped up by quite a bit - closer investigation (of this and the previous bill!) revealed that I've been incurring significant additional broadband charges for at least the last 4 months (as I've exceeded the 10 Gb/month limit on Total Broadband 1).
I promptly called BT and got upgraded to the Total Broadband 3 package (300 Gb/month limit) and ended up with a cheaper deal all round than I had before!
This does however leave me about £150 out of pocket and with a slightly bitter taste in my mouth though ...
Granted, it's my problem for not noticing I'd started going over the 10 Gb/month limit early on [my excuse is that with a very busy life I tend to scan the headline figures on the first page of the bill and only investigate if these seem unusual]
Nevertheless, I would have expected BT, in the space of the last 6 months, to:
    a) have the courtesy to notify me more proactively that I'm exceeding the "fair usage" policy limits and/or
    b) Move me up to the next level automatically (seeing as it's ended up cheaper anyway?) and/or
    c) Have somebody call me to suggest that I might want to upgrade to save significant costs ...
Has anybody else had a similar experience ?
I will add though that I'm very happy with BT's service otherwise - just think this particular point merits raising as a matter of principle!

Hello alexm3.  Yes, I have had the same problem.  Although I already had a BT landline, I switched in Sep 2010 to a total broadband package Option 1, (at £7.99 p.m.) thinking 10gb was downloads.  Had an email to my normal aol.com account telling me after the first week that I'd used 7gb.  Took 3 weeks to upgrade to Option 2 with 40gb, still went over the usage, and incurred £50 charge, and this month is £20 extra charge, while waiting to upgrade to Option 3.
I have now been offered Option 3 at £40 p.m. plus line rental of £13.50, plus calls (average £20 p.m.) so look like I am going to be paying over £70 p.m.
I did also find 22 emails last week in my btinternet.com Inbox although I have indicated I only use my old aol.com email address but they cannot use that although BT have been corresponding with me on that one since day 1
Their usage monitor only tells you if you are within or over your usage allowance, not how you've used it!
    Good Luck

  • Home Broadband Fusion Typical High Power Consumption

Question: Has anyone noticed just how much power (watts) the Verizon outside Cantenna and HBR router consume if left on continuously, even while you are not using it?
Fact: I took a measuring device and finding the outside attenna and router plug-ins consumer over 130 watts if continually left on. But what makes matter worse is there is no indication when you sign up this very little known fact.. so.. left on an average consumer burns about the same amount of electricity with the antenna and router as a small kitchen refrigerator or about 6-7 KWH (Kila-Watt Hours) per day.. if your electricity rates are .12 cents per KWH then it costs about 75 cents a day or 23 dollars in a month to power just these devices..
What to do? - TURN OFF when not in use or completely power down. The down side is are there side effects by doing so?
Somebody should launch a complaint to Verizon and to consumer affairs for not being obligated to advertising these facts (it would sort of be like buying a car and not knowing what kind of gas milage you would be getting).
Most folks using these products should see an obivous jump in their regular electric bills.

You're math is off. 130 watts means it uses 130 watts per hour that's 3120 watts in a day or 3.12 kW. Or 93.6 kW in a month. At 12 cents per kW that's $11.23 a month not $23. Also you assume it uses that much electricity 24/7
Also new refrigerators even large ones use maybe $6 a month in electricity.

  • ITunes Match Usage Query: Devices

    Hello,
My fiance and I have a shared apple id for icloud and then have individual accounts for the itunes store. etc.
I read heaps online about how you can use itunes match by signing up with an id and then you can still make your purchases etc with a different id's.. so I signed up for match using our shared icloud id.
Now I can't add match to my iPhone without signing out of my normal apple id.  And if I sign out of the icloud id in itunes, then match disappears for the other id's we login with.
So I assume that this means we can still make purchases etc with our own id's - but they won't upload to match unless we sign in with the match id on the machine?
Also - does this mean we have to sign into the store on our iphones with our shared id now instead of our own id's in order to use match?
Kinda *****.  Surely many couples share one music library but use their own individual id's to make purchases etc?
Anyone else had this issue or know how to work around it?

Okay - update, been on the blower with Apple Support.
The Apple model is one ID per individual user (despite supporting a separate Apple ID for iCloud and Store purchases simultaneously on an Apple device).
So, in terms of iTunes Match, to use it on your device you need to be signed into the APP STORE with the account you used for iTunes Match.
On the Mac, you would make purchases with your own individual ID (if your scenario is like ours) and then sign back into your iTunes Match account to ensure new purchases upload.
Not perfect. But still, some functionality can be gained from it.  (Might turn off auto-renew, however).

  • 4G Broadband

    Hi all,
I signed up for the 4G broadband deal, €23.99 for 30 GB of data per month. (The app tells me it's "4G Meteor Mobile Broadband XXL").
The device arrived yesterday and it's functioning fine, I downloaded a couple of apps to be used with it (namely MyMeteor and Huawei HiLink, the latter of which I particularly recommend for managing your usage). I want to keep on top of the data I use to avoid any surprises, so I'm making sure I know where to look for my remaining data each month.
However, when I log into MyMeteor (be it the website or the app), it seems to say I only have 11 GB of a data allowance/cap per month, or at least this month. It's accurate in telling me what I've used since yesterday (about 1.48GB), so it seems to be tracking my usage accurately, but what's going on with the data allowance only being 11GB? It should be 30GB. Can anyone look into this, and maybe explain what's going on?
    Thanks!

Yeah, we have a 3 device here at home and it didn't give any warning as such when the data limit was approached or exceeded, ended up forking out 80 quid for the exceeded data.
Luckily, the Huawei HiLink app lets you put a cap in place - whether it actually cuts off the wifi upon the limit being reached, I've yet to find out. It's lucky I checked Meteor though, it'd be just my luck to go over my allowance by a GB or two without realising I'd only 11GB to work with!

  • Poor customer care regarding broadband infinity

First of I had sky internet which was woefully slow, so I decided to go for unltd standard broadband from BT with a supposed 8meg speed. This worked ok for a couple of months but then I noticed the home hub4 was running slow & kept kicking me off & also showing a green light. After consulting with the BT tech team they assured me I was receiving 8meg & the reason it was running slow was my ps3 & the amount of other devices connected were a big drain! So I contacted BT regarding fibre optic infinity where I told them of the problems of the 8 meg broadband & was told that the reason it was so slow was my online gaming console was using the lions share of bandwidth making internet browsing for my wife impossible. So not being a computer broadband expert I took the sales persons reason as being accurate & promptly signed up for infinity with all the bells & whistles. However I wish that I had just stuck with the slow internet. The salesperson informed me that my installation date was on the 27th of March between 13.00 & 18.00. The engineer turns up as expected & proceeds with the install everything goes to plan until he tries to connect up to the internet. After 3 hours, most of which is on the phone he tells me there is a problem on the line or at the box. He also says he has reported it to his "engineers technical helpline" & that someone from BT will have to come out & fix it as he is only there to install inside the house. He leaves unable to fix the broadband warning that if it's not fixed before Friday at 19.00 it'll be Monday. On the Friday around 15.00 I call home to see if the issue has been resolved or if anyone from BT has been in contact regarding the problem. No one has called & internet still not working. So I then proceed to call BT from my mobile as I am the named account holder & I am a self employed plasterer working from my van with no landline. I then get passed from pillar to post with assurances that my broadband is working despite my wife telling me it's not. After 4 hours on my mobile I give up!!. When I get back home on Friday I call the cancellations dept where I get assurances that they can put me onto tech support who will resolve the issue. I get transferred to someone abroad again who gets cut off in an attempt to fix the issue, then calls back, then gets cut off & never calls back. I give up it's 20.00 on a Friday evening! Saturday I try again to find out what's going on as no one from BT has called! Once again I have an hour long call from tech support abroad who ask me to check router settings, check colour of router, speed test & on & on!! I thought the BT approved broadband engineer who installed the kit would have done?!?!? To have the tech on the other end of the phone triumphantly claim I can expect 69.2meg download speed. The page to check the download speed timed out! it was that slow. At the end of the call he told me the fault was on the line!!!!! To which I replied I told you that an hour ago because the BT installation engineer had already determined it required a BT engineer to fix it. The tech guy then told me the earliest engineer would get to the fault was 1 of April, 3 days away. Which I find absolutely mind boggling as to why it would take that long from the fault being reported on the 27th until the 1st for an engineer to even look at it 5 days later.... Unfortunately there was no movement on that date! Then on Sunday the 30th I get an unexpected call from BT tech support asking me to again check router settings, reset router switch it on & off to be told at the end of the conversation, the line is fine it's now a faulty router!?!?! & they are going to send me a new router. So I tell the tech that's a polar opposite to what the broadband engineer has said & I'll wait for the engineer to look first. After arguing that every single person I spoke to, until him had said it's the line or box! I did not want fobbed off with waiting for a new router & having the same problems again I asked to be put through to cancellations which he could not do but gave me the number to call. I called cancellations who told me that I would be due to pay them for the service if I cancelled & only tech could waive the cancellations fee. Unbelievable!!!!!!!. I then got assurances from the cancellations dept that the person I spoke to next would definitely be able to help me. I was transferred only to be told I have been put through to the phone tech dept & she couldn't help me & then got cut off!!!!! She called back & transferred me to broadband tech where I got the well rehearsed line of can you plug your PC into the router. I refused as I had now spent probably the best part of 9 hours of my life on the phone to try & resolve BT's problems of connecting me to the internet. After telling the new tech that under no circumstances will I be checking anything, he dropped the bombshell that Saturdays tech who told me an engineer was coming out on the 1st of April was wrong!!!!!! I was to expect a call from a level 2 tech who would speak to me then arrange for an engineer............. At which point I told him not to call me again just to send an engineer out to fix it & hung up. I feel angry, stressed & browbeaten. The points I now think about are 1) was there always a problem with my broadband & have I been duped into fibre at an almost double cost per month? 2) who can help me resolve this problem? I have asked for customer complaints & get told there is none??? 3) British Telecom have spent millions on sport! surely investing in customers needs to provide communications for them should take precedence on TV channels? 4) I never thought when ordering fibre broadband that the only device to connect my household to the internet would be my mobile phone personal hotspot well done Vodafone 4g. Coincidentally that's the only way I can post this!.

That is pretty much exactly the same problem as me, though my engineer came out on the 26th and an engineer has apparently been booked to have a look at the cabinet and the exchange on the 2nd of april wether that happens or not only God knows. BT have just left me feeling like theres nothing I can do and if im stuck in a contract with no internet for the next 8 months theyd still be nothing I could do about it. The problem is there is no customer to advisor understanding. They all read from the same book but come out with different excuses each time. And ive found out they tend to lie to you just to het you off the phone because they no full well youll never be able to track them down through complaints. Let me no if it gets sorted mate.

  • Broadband connect using Treo 700p

I'm now in the market for both a new Mac (MacBook Pro 17" HD), and a new mobile device (Treo 700p seems best). Quite the exciting time, 2 new toys in one year... the wife must love me alot to allow this!
My question: The Verizon Wireless Treo 700p is *supposed to* both sync & run wireless broadband for the Mac devices... In anyone's own experiences, DOES IT REALLY RUN THE WIRELESS BROADBAND WELL?
Here's the tragic comedy... I work for Verizon Wireless. All of our tech support guys are diehard Windows users, so getting an answer out of them is about as comical as the Mac vs. PC ads. "I dunno, I guess it should work, that's what the manual says" isn't much comfort when shelling out $400 for the Treo. Buying a PC is not an option.
