Broadband-only line rentals / getting a line recon...
Hi all,
I recently moved into a new flat, and I've been having a few problems getting an internet connection (my initial problems were detailed here: http://community.bt.com/t5/BB-Out-About/BT-WiFi-disappeared-yesterday/td-p/646692). I'm a student, and thus very new to the business of sorting out my own telecommunications, so please bear with me:
1) The flat has a telephone socket in the wall. I've been trying to establish whether this is active but disconnected or dead altogether, but the landlord is all but uncontactable, so I haven't yet received an answer. I'm assuming it's just disconnected, but I still need to know. Obviously, I need to get it reconnected. What would be the best way to go about doing this? BT's help section on what to do when you move home is of no use to me, since I'm not an existing BT customer (and, indeed, wasn't previously renting a line from anyone).
2) It goes without saying that I don't need a landline phone. BT do do broadband-only line rentals, don't they?
Many thanks in advance for your help.
The simple answer to your question is NO BT do not do Broadband only line as Broadband is sold as a Package Phone and Broadband Sorry

When I take my phone off charge in the morning I get an info box on the front which has the sound trumpet icon with a line through it and the word Mute. The only way to get rid of it is to reboot the phone any ideas as to how I can stop this happening?
Hello cor-el, thanks for your reply. I changed my settings for downloads to desktop and it has appeared on there. When I double click I am asked which program I want to open file. I click firefox and another box "opening install" says I have chosen to open the file which is an application and do I want to save it. This is the only real option so I press save file. I get a box saying this is an executable file which may contain viruses - do you want to run. I press ok and the final box showing C drive file name and desktop appears stating application not found.
This happens the same whenever I try to install.
To my untrained eye the application is not being recognised as an application and I cannot work out how to get it to do that.
My plugin is still showing as out of date.
Is there anything you could suggest. Thanks for your time. -
It is unclear the advantage to pre-ordering the new iPhone 5. What I have read is that it will ship on the 21st if you pre-order? If so the only way to get one on the 21st is go stand in line. Please correct me if I am wrong.
if you don't have time to stand in line or don't want to risk getting there too late and leaving empty handed from the apple store preordering will guarantee you one but possibly in a slightly longer timeframe

Fibre upgrade for Exchange only lines (EANAR)
Who can advise me if there are any plans to upgrade Exchange only lines in my local Norfolk exchange (EANAR) to FTTC as I currently cannot get fibre despite my Exchange having been upgraded in Dec 2014? BT Openreach were near useless in just confirming that my existing landline was exchange only followed by rubbing salt in to the wound by announcing how BT Openreach has managed to get fibre to everyone else in the area (i.e. without an exchange only line)! The local exchange was upgraded as part of BB for Norfolk project.
Many Thanks.

I have a broadband land line(BSNL) and do not have WiFi. i am unable to get internet access to my ipad. I have downloaded itunes.Kindly let me know how to proceed. Thanks in advance.Well what is it that you want to do? You have internet albeit with a landline. You have a computer right? The computer is connected to the interent with an ethernet cable I guess. You can have itunes on your computer and you can connect to your ipad to the computer with a usb cable to sync and transfer content to you ipad but without wifi available for your ipad it limits what you can do on your ipad. For ecxample you cant surf the internet on your ipad

Exchange only line really ?
I'm in the unfortunate position of living in an FTTC enabled area but live in a house that is apparently fed by an exchange only line. Whilst there is a green fttc cabinet and green PCP at the end of the road there are also some grey BT cabs at the other end. Now I've heard people say BT cabs are only green but these certainly are BT cabs as I've seen Openreach vans parked in front of them with their engineers working on them. There seems to be a pattern where I live, those with a grey cab can't get fttc, those with a green cab can. My questions however are these ?. Why were the green cabs equipped but not the grey and why would it be stated that I'm an exchange only line when I suspect I'm fed from the grey cab and not the green ? Are there any plans to enable the grey cabs ?
I put my address in as I'm with Sky at the moment and for some reason most checkers say I don't have a phone line but clearly I have. It just says I'm connected to exchange Hardingstone and I can get standard ADSL products up to 3.5 meg. No cab info or indication that I'm exchange only but the mods on here claimed I was E/O some time ago. Maybe it's a mistake in the database but I suspect I'm on a grey cab which somehow makes me e/o. I live approx 2 miles from the exchange so it would be pretty inefficient way of doing things. The grey cabs seem to coincide with newer build houses.

How ship only lines will be updated to bill only lines in OM?
Hi all,
How to identify a order with ship only line that is not associated with the bill only line.
Do a order have lines with different line_types?
Any information on this will be very useful.
Please clarify.
Thanks in Advance.Check the fulfillment flow and line flow assignment of that particular transaction type. The line process name attached (inside 'Assign Line Flow' tab) to a transaction type determines its processing flows.

What is the best MIDI keyboard/control surface to use with LOGIC (Studio - which I assume is the latest & greatest version) and is Axiom Pro the only line that has Hyper control? I already own the Axiom Pro 61, but prefer more keys, and though I like much about it, the keys aren't very easy for playing more complex material, and there is an obvious delay regarding attack response (esp. noticeable at faster speeds). There are other issues as well I've read of regarding key sticking (though I consider myself lucky mine do not, there is nontheless a sluggish clunckiness issue which neither helps agility/acuracy nor the delay factor.) and the unit not lasting very long before it breaks and needs repairing. And lastly, I am no fan of Avid and care not to support them in the least.
Sorry, but is this an iPad question? Axiom Pro 61 is not an iPad-compatible peripheral, so perhaps you mean to post in the Logic forum?

in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1)
are you connected directly to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

I can not find a way to update my 4.2.1 to iOS 5. The only message I get is that my version of 4.2.1 is the current version.
Settings>General>About>Model...post what it says here.
Sounds like you have an iPhone 3G, not a 3GS. If so, iOS 4.2.1 is the end of the line for your phone. -
Like I said in the subject line:
My brand new iPhone 4S/32Gb goes off in any time of the day and the only way to get it back to live is through pressing and holding of the Home and Sleep button together for 5-10 seconds.
Does anybody have that kind of problem as well?
Thank you.I restored it on I tunes as well did something on the phone. The lastest seems to have helped it but I haven't used it much yet! Thanks for the help & I'll let you know!

Hi Maryan,
Open System Preferences > Displays > select the window for you external monitor > click on the Arrangement tab and check the box next to Mirror Displays. It may be slightly different in Lion, but the idea is the same. -
Verizon is a company that is only out to get your cash and leave you with trash. Verizon has mastered deception. Do not get strung along like I did by calling in and letting them try to fix anything-they are there to make sure you get past your 14 day return period so you are locked into a new 2 year contract and can’t take back any of the accessories you bought for your product. If your product does not work out of the box, RETURN IT IMMEDIATELY, do not call in for tech support and take back any accessories you bought for the product as it also has the 14 day policy too. First off let me say that as far as the PHONE SERVICE, it has been great…however…here is what I have experienced with the 3G Droid Bionic and Verizon. I decided to get the Droid Bionic 4G since they are supposed to have 4G service in my area. It’s either their service or the product that is not 100% 4G like my 3G HTC Imagio is 100% 3G, the so called "4G" Bionic flips in and out. I can’t count how many hours I’ve been on the phone with techs at Verizon and Moto but each time, they all had something different to say, but nothing ever worked and if it did, it didn’t work for long before it went back to the same flip flop. There were several other issues as well but too many to list, but one is that when I was tethered and would get a notification it disconnected from the internet...NOT SUPPOSE TO HAPPEN. I had a specific need for the 4G and since it doesn’t work, I don’t NEED it. The biggest lie I bought into is that MOTO is/was supposed to release a software update that is supposed to fix the flip flop 3G to 4G. I talked to a tech tonight at Verizon that was honest enough to tell me that if there was one that was going to be released (within my 14 day period) that they would have been notified of that. Well guess what, he doesn’t have any notices. But every person I talked to at Verizon said there was going to be an update, is it another one of those…no one knows their butt from a hole in the grown or was he telling the truth. Well it makes sense now that when I was talking with the second level tech at MOTO he didn’t know what the heck I was talking about. There’s your proof that the people you call and talk to at Verizon are devious, deceptive jerks and are only out to make money off us and could really care less that you just spent a bundle of money on a piece of cow dung and that their only goal is to keep you tied into the 2 year contract. After talking with the last tech at Verizon that told me there was no notification of a software update coming from MOTO or at least not in the next two weeks, I decided to take back all my accessories to the Verizon store in my area and return the Bionic tomorrow. But guess what, unlike the rest of America where the return policies are 30 days, Verizon also changed the return policies on the accessories too. So I’m stuck with over $100 of “STUFF” that cannot be used on any other phone. My bad, I didn’t have my reading glasses, look 12 inches down the long small print page to see that it said 14 days, when I bought the “STUFF” and I didn’t know that Verizon’s changes applied to the accessories in there stores too. Why is this and issue because Verizon did have me buy another Bionic phone under a new 14 day policy but because I didn’t realize that same policy applied to the hardware at their local stores, I’m stuck with the “STUFF”. Guess what Verizon; you devious, deceptive jerks, what goes around comes around. You are going to get to know me real well in the coming days, weeks, months and years; I’m going to picket until the freakin cows come home and hopefully get on the local news channels too. I’m going to hopefully create a nationwide movement that will either ruin your company or force you to restore the 30 day policy and I don’t care if you try to sue me that will be even better as it will draw even more attention. Money is hard to come by these days and I’ll not let you screw me over like this and get away with it. Because you are treating your customers like cow dung, I WILL NEVER extend my contract again; when this contact ends I’m switching to another cell provider. I’ve been with you since 2004 but tomorrow I’m switching my family’s phones over as soon as possible since they are not under any contract; this I hope will catch on and others will do the same. We can support the other companies and help them grow so that they can also provide better cell service and then we the people will have a choice, NOT TO GET SCREWED. Verizon, you are going to be the reason that a lot of time is going to be wasted in your stores because of processing numerous returns and a lot of Fed Ex charges on you for people retuning your trash items…unless you want to get it right the first time and or BECOME AMERICAN again and restore the 30 day policy. Verizon’s 4G network and or MOTO products still have so many bugs in them that you might as well keep your 3G and wait for another year or so until they fix everything and stop their devious, deceptive tricks, restore the 30 day policy and start selling products that work out of the box. Verizon, you wouldn’t be the first large company that is going to fall if you keep doing this kind of business. See yea on the news. One comment for Moto: Do you really want to associate yourself with a company that treats their customers like this? I guess Birds of a feather flock together…and get shot together.
