Broadcasting an IPVC over IPTV

Is there any way to broadcast an IPVC via IPTV? I seem to recall from this forum that it could be done via h.261, but I can't seem to find how.
Has anyone done this? Will it work?
Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave,
Basically, you stream from the Polycom FX/4000 as an RTP broadcast. (It streams the mixed audio and the video of the dominant speaker.) Define it as a Server in the CM. Create a Live program on a Channel matching the UDP parameters of the RTP traffic (hint, H.261/pcm). View the stream on the IPTV viewer or Record to an Archive/Broadcast Server.
Enjoy,
John

  • Broadcasting Computer Audio over Telephone

    I'm using a "Passcode Entry Operator Assisted Call" for an upcoming meeting.  I've created the audio profile and have made sure it connects correctly (you can hear people talking on the phone through the speakers).
    During this meeting we will be displaying a short video using one of the Connect pods.  However, since people will be connected by phone they won't be able to hear this audio through their speakers (their speakers are muted, otherwise they would hear the same audio they hear on the phone with a slight delay).
    Is it possible to broadcast the audio to the users connected by phone (other than instructing them to un-mute their speakers)?  Is this a setting that I've overlooked?

    When Conect sees that someone has joined a conference over the phone, it mutes the playback of the phone audio over the computer. Attendees should still be able to hear the audio of the video through their computer speakers. There is no built in method for getting the audio for media shared in the Share pod to broadcast over the phone, and this has been a long issue among many people using Connect and there is no easy resolution.
    The only real solution that I know of is to use something like a THAT-2 device, http://amzn.com/B003D82WKC, to bridge the computer audio to a phone.

  • Broadcasting "current song" over multiple computers?

    Hey, I hope this is just a stupid question as it seems possible but I can't figure out how to do it; at our studio we have just connected an Airport express to our stereo and we are all able to connect successfully to the Airport and play through the stereo singularly (off of three different computers.) My question is if there is a way that I can view the current song on my computer that someone is streaming from their computer to the Airport. I've found posts about using an iphone as a remote control for an Airport so it seems like the Airport is obviously broadcasting that information out but I can't figure out how to receive it back on multiple computers/iTunes.
    Any advice?
    Thanks!

    I have a similar problem. Wish I had an answer but am struggling with a similar problem. My situation is this: I have a Imac and a Macbook Pro. I have the same 4 accounts on both and I sync them through '.mac'. It works fairly well. My goal is to get one Itunes library accessible from the 2 computers and the 4 accounts per computer. I am also using Time Capsule/Machine as well. I currently keep the Itunes library on an external drive (not TCapsule). So, my problem is this:
    1. How to update from multiple accounts accross the two machines?
    2. How to access Itunes store from all of the accounts on machine 2?
    I am now trying to set up individual Itunes libraries for each account on machine 1 and share to machine 2.
    In any case, this is not pretty and needs to be reachitected to support a multiple user environmet.

  • Broadcasting over LAN

    I am working on a program that broadcasts a packet over the LAN.I implemented a datagram packet which has some data inside .Is there any way to broadcast this message to the computers without specifying the port number..I want all the computers on LAN to take this packet
    here is the part of the code.
    DatagramSocket socket = new DatagramSocket();
    InetAddress address=InetAddress.getByName("255.255.255.255");
    DatagramPacket sendPacket =new DatagramPacket(m,m.length,address,?????);
    socket.send(sendPacket);

    Hi!
    as far as i know you have to set a port number ;) so:
    int port = 2000;
    DatagramSocket socket = new DatagramSocket(port);
    hmm... getByName is not a good idea, try getByAddress, defining a byteArray first (255,255,255,255).
    InetAddress address=InetAddress.getByAddress(yourByteArray);
    Define your sendPacket like thist, where "buf" is the byteArray of your sendData, like:
    buf = sendData.getBytes();
    DatagramPacket sendPacket =new DatagramPacket(buf, buf.length, address, port);
    finally:
    socket.send(sendPacket);
    could work...
    greetings

  • SSID Broadcast Over 1552E

    Hi All,
    I got big problem with 1552E aps. Can i broadcast a ssid over 1552e ap' s? i m using 2504 controller and i didn t success broadcast a ssid over 1552e. if i can, can anyone send me a documentation about it? thanks...

    Hello Ilkay,
    As per your query i can suggest you the following solution-
    Yes, you can broadcast a ssid over 1552e ap's using 2504 controller
    Configuring Multiple Basic SSIDs
    Access point 802.11a and 802.11g radios now support up to 8 basic SSIDs (BSSIDs), which are similar to MAC addresses. You use multiple BSSIDs to assign a unique DTIM setting for each SSID and to broadcast more than one SSID in beacons. A large DTIM value increases battery life for power-save client devices that use an SSID, and broadcasting multiple SSIDs makes your wireless LAN more accessible to guests.
    For more details refer to the link-
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/12.3_7_JA/configuration/guide/s37ssid.html
    Hope this will help you.

  • Cast in DMM integrated to IPTV----need some tips to improve the channel streams through 4400 DMP. Now the channel streams look little pixelated. Video not sharp...

    Hi,
    Some one kindly suggest a solution for the below issue.
    In one of my customer places we are using the Cast module in DMM 5.2.2 to integrate with the IPTV.
    So the IPTV channel streams when it comes to the LCD its not sharp.
    The feeds are a bit pixelated and also the scrolling news texts from the IPTV channels looks a little weird.
    When we browse the channels using the remote from the Menu the streams coming on the small window on the LCD screen is good but when we put the video to full-screen this pixelation happens.
    The streams are decoded using 4400 DMP and using HDMI connection.
    The receiver used is D9854 and the DCM used is D9900.
    I tried by changing the DMP display parameters but this was not resolved.
    We checked the DCM parameters and verified. The DCM parameters are correct and  when we stream the channels using VLC on our laptop the stream is good.
    So I kindly request to suggest some of the rectification techniques and as such we can resolve this

    JD - I appreciate the feedback - as an update, the customer is still adamant that the DMP is to be used only for digital signs and that now he expects Cast to run on all his PCs (I'm thinking Show and Share is the solution for this).  I try to only "know what I know" and not assume certain things - but this language seems pretty clear:
    "Features of Cisco Cast help your organization to deliver video-on-demand and live broadcast TV channels over IP networks to presentation systems that you connect to DMPs."
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/video/digital_media_systems/5_x/5_2/dmm/user/guide/cast/welcome.html
    To me that implies that cast delivery is done explicitly through DMPs but doesn't come out and *say specifically* such - but the way I remember doing it - you just publish your Cast setup to the DMP - there is no "cast server" that you can browse to per se and manipulate the guide, etc in that manner.  I'm always open to the idea that there's something I don't know - the IT business has humbled me many times - but this seems awfully straight forward to me.
    I'm stuck with the 2200's for cast - I have to try and make them work.  I assume the procedure is to link a stream to a multicast group address, then configure that as a channel target within Cast?  Never done it for real before - need to know by tomorrow ~noon.  Is there any reason why the 2200s would simply NOT work?
    Have you had success with remote control emulation?  I don't even know if the customer has UCM, but I have been informed that Cast is controllable by a mouse or keyboard (another assertion I'm 99.999% is incorrect) so I need to quit worrying about a remote.
    If I sound terrified, it's because I am.  Thanks for all the help.  I'm not confused yet because so far I've been right about everything I think I know, but when expectations don't line up with reality, that's when things get uncomfortable.

  • IPTV Sources

    Hello,
    Does anybody know if you can pick up another source for video to IP for encoding, such as a directly attached IP camera? The trouble I have is that I can't be lugging the broadcast server all over the place for encoding and don't want to have to wire the entire building for composite video capability. I just don't see in IPTV how you can input another source for live broadcast.
    Any ideas?
    Dave

    If your building has structured cabling (Cat5, for example), then you can transmit composite or S-Video over the structured cabling system by using an adapter/balun, such as the Avaya (formerly Lucent) 380A.
    The 380A is composite video and two audio channels into UTP, with no perceptable loss of quality (at EIA/TIA cabling spec - 100 meters). The Adapter actually allows transmition on UTP for distances greater than the EIA/TIA spec (up to 5000 feet, but with "some" loss of quality).
    At that point, all you need to do is cross-connect the live location to the panels feeding your IPTV BC server.
    There are a number of vendors with adapters, the 380a is what I've used the most. As mentioned, there are also some providers for S-Video + audio, but I don't have the names available to me. If I find 'em, I'll post 'em.
    Good Luck

  • Color correcting - broadcast warning.

    what does the yellow exclamation mark on broadcast safe mean.
    Have been reading Ken stons CC tutorials and have been working to make my whites hit the 100 mark in my waveform.
    If it goes over 100 the warning lines turn red - obviously illegal - but am getting this warning even if my whites ar under 100 - i.e white but broadcast legal.
    The only time i get a green tick is when my whites are way away from 100 (at 90) and horribly almost grey.
    The image I am using is pretty much black and white and even when I use autoblack/white the white is defaulting to this 90% grey.
    Surely this is not right.

    In ken stones tute he says that on FCP scopes the
    black and whites are absolute 0 and 100 - unlike
    external scopes in which the blacs would be 7.5 etc
    This in reference to digital vs. analog NTSC scopes and the signal being measured. Digital video is zero black while analog video usually has setup added which is 7.5 IRE black, in NTSC land. You don't have to worry about this.
    so I am trying to get my whites to that 100.
    I turned range check off - and yeah the chroma was
    fine - the luma was over.
    What is the ebst way to stop this excess Luma without
    dropping the whites to grey.
    By the way - the image I am using is very similar to
    this web page - pretty much blanket white wih a small
    patches of purple and black - so it is easy to tell
    when the whites arent right.
    the warning for excess luma is also across the entire
    screen, not just an area which suggest that
    absolutely all the whites on screen are above legal.
    You can use any of the image control filters but the 3way is usually the best tool for darn near anything. If your white is measuring over 100%, you need to lower your white point. You didn't mention what sort of video this is as DV has the capability to capture Superwhite which is a luma level of 109% (that's kinda weird, how can anything be over 100%?). Then for good measure apply the broadcast safe filter over all of it which will clip any errant specular highlights.

  • Make TC invisible over wired network.

    Is there a way to hide the time capsule over the wired network?  Other Macs in the building can see and choose my TC as a TM backup location, its password protected so they can't, but I want to hide my TM completely.  I have already created a closed wireless network so nobody can see it but its broadcasting its name over the wired to all other macs.  Thanks for your help.

    Yes, but it is complicated.

    For most people disk password or user profiles would be enough.. plainly they can choose the TC for TM but without actual passwords they can never accomplish that task. I am not sure what you gain by completely hiding it.. ??
    Same as closed wireless network btw.. anybody who knows about wireless is not going to be tricked by hidden ssid. It is the password which protects you.. not the hidden ssid.
    Anyhow.. tell me how you get internet?
    And how is the TC connected to the network?
    Does it have to be connected for other clients you own to get access to the internet? ie if you are the only person using it.. can we establish a private network to the TC.. would that bother you?
    We can only partly hide it in the main network.. in that again, just like a hidden ssid.. anyone who knows about networking can find it.. Isolated from the network nobody can access it at all.

  • 7921 phone prefers the G band over A- why?

    We are using 7921 phones over our wireless network with A, B and G APs. The phone is set to Auto-A and the APs are broadcasting the SSID over A and G bands. We are seeing the phones pick the G band 90% of the time. We restricted the SSID to the A radios and the phones worked just fine, but this goes against the philosophy of use A and fail over to G. The phones are using WPA, CCKM (TKIP) and have firmware v.1.3.2 (the 1.3.3 firmware had issues authenticating against RADIUS, but 1.3.2 works). Any ideas?

    There was a change in the 1.3(2) release in order to pass WPA/WPA2 enterprise certification, which was to change the auth type from 128 (network-eap) to 0 (open) where EAP is optional.
    If you are using the Cisco WLAN Controller, it supports both types by default.
    If you are using the Cisco autonomous access points, then need to ensure that you have both methods enabled to cover all firmware versions.
    See the 1.3(2) release notes.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cuipph/7925g/firmware/1_3_2/english/release/notes/792x_132.html#wp223099
    There is nothing in 1.3(3) that I can think of that would impact authentication.
    As far as roaming back to 5 GHz even though the voice ssid is still present on 2.4 GHz after failing over to 2.4 GHz when configured for Auto-a, we are planning to make some enhancements in this area for the 1.3(4) release, where it will scan both bands when in an auto mode and ensure it is on the preferred band when available.

  • Can I do LIVE broadcasts of sporting events With My MacBook?

    I want to broadcast live basketball games for my son's school. I would like to do audio and video broadcasts. I have a 13 inch Macbook Unibody (not Pro). Is this possible? And what extra equipment do I need?
    Thanks,
    Curt

    I am wanting for the public to be able to listen to or watch my son's school's basketball, baseball and football games via their home computer. Currently, no local radio station broadcasts their games because they are a smaller school and there's not enough local advertising to make it attractive to broadcast the games over air.
    The Macbook's camera will not be able to film the action on court, as it occurs. I would like to use an external camera and plug it into the USB on the Macbook and then broadcast over the web so people could watch on their computer or listen over iPhone.
    Do you know of any Servers that could be used for live broadcasts? I have seen some, but they've said for "Windows" based PC's. I want something Mac compatible.

  • Listening to live radio broadcasts

    As I have been sitting at my IMac (purchased April 09) day in and day out over the past weeks, I thought it would be good to listen to radio live broadcasts. To my surprise - or not - I find that apart from BBC iPlayer programmes nothing else is useable. (I have tried a wide variety of on-line channels). I seem to have this big machine, supposedly all singing and all dancing, yet can't listen to the radio. I just get the download box come up and a window full of script.
    So answer is - how do I listen to live broadcasts using my mac and why isn't this ability written into the OS.
    Thanks
    Ann

    how do I listen to live broadcasts using my mac and why isn't this ability written into the OS.
    It's not "written into the OS" because a Mac does not have a radio receiver. If you are referring to streaming broadcasts that come over the Internet, that capability is dependent on the web browser, not the OS. And as mentioned above, iTunes also has the capability to stream Internet-based "radio."
    You can also go to any number of web sites that stream "radio" broadcasts. Just do a Google search on "internet radio". For example, here is a web site that aggregates such streams.

  • Ikegami broadcast monitor-Mac won't send 1080p DVI signal

    I'm trying to use an Ikegami HLM-1750WR broadcast monitor connected over DVI with my Mac Pro. It seems the display isn't sending any information to the mac, because 1080P is not an option, and 1080i looks awful. I've tried using SwitchRes X to specify 1080P, and it works—except the entire image is shifted over two inches to the right, leaving a quarter of the image off the edge of the screen. I tried tinkering with the settings, but can't get it to change. Anyone have any tricks to get this to work?

    In reality, the projectors that show the work I'm working on (local Indie films) are connected over DVI-and that's if I'm lucky. Otherwise, its some cheap home projector connected to a DVD player over composite, so in reality DVI is useful for what I'm doing. Also, the monitor in question is far superior to the 9 year old dell I usually have attached, so its a worthwhile project in that sense too.
    Alternate workflows aside, does anyone know a way to force 1080p output?
    I know that SDI is better, but it would also be enlightening to know why exactly that is.

  • Everything you need to know about Foxtel Go

    Foxtel on T-Box customers can self register Foxtel Go on 2 devices per Foxtel on T-Box subscription. You are able to view content on 1 of the 2 registered devices. The T-Box device will automatically be registered on your behalf and cannot be deregistered. You can change the device they have registered once per calendar month.
    To change a registered device you must log into the Foxtel Go app. As a Foxtel from Telstra customer please use your Foxtel My account details. As a Foxtel on T-Box customer please log in with your primary (i.e. the first username created and linked to your account) BigPond username and password.
    Once in the app go to the settings icon and choose 'manage my devices'. Within this section of the app you will be able to select de-register for the device you wish to change. To register, download the Foxtel Go app and log in. You will be prompted to register the device.
    Remember you can only change one device once per calendar month. If you are still able to make a change, you will be advised of the number of device registrations left this month.
    If you recently registered your T-Box, you should have access to Foxtel Go within 1 hour. If you are experiencing errors please try closing the Foxtel Go App and logging in again. If you are still unable to access any content please contact us via Telstra 24x7 or Telstra Technical Support on 13 22 00
    If you swap your Foxtel on T-Box service to a new device, your Foxtel Go service is not affected as it is associated to your BigPond username and password, and not the T-Box device.
    When trying to make a second device change within a month the de-register' button will be greyed out, preventing the change.
    Current channel rights only allow Foxtel Go to be registered on 3 devices per Foxtel Account. For Foxtel on T-Box customers, the T-Box counts as your 3rd device.
    The parental control function is specific to Foxtel Go and managed in the app via the settings icon. To access parental control:
    Go to the settings' icon in the app (top right)
    Access parental controls'
    Choose which classifications you'd like to restrict
    All R-rated content is automatically blocked, but you can personalise your restrictions for other ratings. To do this go to Settings in the Foxtel Go app, turn on Parental Controls and restrict the classifications you would like to block. If this is the first time you do this you'll be prompted to set a 4 digit PIN specifically for Foxtel Go. You can use this PIN to change your parental controls in the future. This PIN is only applicable to the Foxtel Go app. For Foxtel from Telstra customers, the PIN is not the same as you use on your IQ or Set Top Box, and you will be required to setup a new PIN to restrict content on Foxtel Go. For Foxtel on T-Box customers, the PIN is not the same as you use on your T-Box, and you will be required to setup a new PIN to restrict content on Foxtel Go.
    Foxtel Go content is unmetered with Telstra BigPond Home Broadband services. With other internet service providers this will be offset against your data plan.
    If you use Foxtel Go on your device with any 3G/4G telecommunications service provider, including Telstra, usage isn't unmetered and you will incur data charges when using Foxtel Go. The below list provides an indicationof the data you will use per device on the various app settings, based on watching an hour of TV. To view your settings go to the 'settings' icon in the Foxtel Go App, turn on 'video settings' and choose your preferred quality:
    3G Phone/Tablet Best: 320 MB per hour / Low: 170 MB per hour
    Wi-Fi Phone Best: 420 MB per hour / Low: 320 MB per hour
    Wi-Fi Tablet Best: 720 MB per hour / Low: 320 MB per hour
    Wi-Fi PC/Mac Best: 1310 MB per hour / Low: 470 MB per hour
    The size of each episode or Movie on Catch up TV can be found on the Synopsis tab.
    You can use Foxtel Go at a Wi-Fi location or a personal hotspot when you are in Australia provided you have an internet connection. Some locations offer Wi-Fi hotspots where you can log onto the internet for free. e.g. McDonalds, Starbucks, etc. Any data charges incurred are charged to the business and not to you. When connected to Wi-Fi, you'll see a Wi-Fi symbol on your device.
    Foxtel from Telstra customers with a Foxtel iQ or iQHD set top box can Remote Record and send a channel change to their set top box. Unfortunately this functionality is not available to Foxtel on T-Box customers.
    You can pause and rewind the last 30 minutes of Live TV, even if you've just changed to that channel. Due to device restrictions users of Samsung Android devices are unable to use this feature.
    Foxtel Go is a streaming video service. Streaming means that images and sound are delivered live to your device to view when you press Play, rather than being downloaded to your device to view at a later time.
    Games you'd normally see on Foxtel from Telstra or Foxtel on T-Box on FOX SPORTS 3 are broadcast on Foxtel Go on the Footy Play Plus channel
    There are no Catch Up of AFL games or magazine shows on Foxtel Go due to content restrictions.
    The key symbol indicates that a channel isn't part of your package. You need to upgrade your Foxtel from Telstra or Foxtel on T-Box package to watch it. Your package can not be updated through the Foxtel Go app. For Foxtel on T-Box customers you can update your packages in the T-Box App, at www.telstra.com/tboxsetup, via 13 2200 or in store. For Foxtel from Telstra customers you can update your packages through the store or via 13 1999. The lock symbol indicates that, as part of your parental control setting, you've locked this classification of content, and can't watch it. If you want to change the settings then the primary (i.e. the first username created and linked to your account) account holder can change these by:
    Go to the settings' icon in the app (top right)
    Access parental controls'
    Choose which classifications you'd like to restrict
    No other username or password can change the parental control settings.
    We may be required to block out specific programming from time to time, e.g. if a channel doesn't have the legal right to broadcast the programme over the internet. However, all live channels are the same as channels you watch through Foxtel from Telstra or Foxtel on T-Box.
    The vast majority of the Foxtel on T-Box content is available via Foxtel Go. There are some minor exceptions. MTV Music and MTV Dance channels are not available. FOOTY PLAY and FOOTY PLAY+ (overflow) channels are not available on PC and Mac only.
    Access to Foxtel Go is included in your Foxtel on T-Box and Foxtel from Telstra subscription. However, you will incur data charges when accessing the service on a 3G/4G network.

    Re: Everything you need to know about Foxtel Go
    Iam book in to have foxtel install on 2nd of March was offered Thursday the 28 my appointment has been cancelled so can be home Thursday I put a complaint in as was told it was 1hour for change over from T Box but no one has got back to me

  • WoL across subnets, how many helpers can you use?

    Been going through the searches on this and I can't find an answer to my question. We are implementing Dell KACE and are deploying WoL campus wide. I'm following the referenced doc and in our test environment its working well.

    I get the need for the bolded helper addresses on the server VLAN. However, I have nearly 150 target networks to deal with. We are on a Class A 10.x.x.x.x, Is there a better way to break this down or do I have to put a target entry for each subnet like the example. I don't want to combine networks because I don't want to broadcast that traffic over that many networks and hosts. Any ideas.
    L3(config-if)#
    interface vlan 3
    ip address 172.16.3.1 255.255.255.0
    ip helper-address 172.16.2.255
    ip helper-address 172.16.4.255

    I do not believe that there is a limit on how many helper addresses can be configured on a router. I am not sure if the same is true on a layer 3 switch (and I assume that what you are showing us is a layer 3 switch). You might just configure it will all the helper addresses and see if it works.
    It might be possible to implement some hierarchal approach. If your 150 networks were in 10 regions each of which had 15 networks, then it might be possible to put 10 helper addresses on the router/layer 3 switch where the WOL server is located with each helper address going to a region. On the subnet at each region there could be another router/layer 3 switch with 15 helper addresses to send the broadcast out to the networks in that region.
