Broken Verizon State IPad 2 Data Plan Transfer

I have recently cracked my iPad 2. It is a state iPad with unlimited verizon 3G data. The folks at the genius bar said they would give me a new or refurbished identical model for the discounted price of $249 in exchange for the cracked one. Can the state Verizon plan be transferred to the new IPad?

I have been subscribed to a Verizon data plan on my iPad for a few months now, each month it's auto renewed for me. However, today I got a message that I was out of data and needed to add more. On my iPad I checked my data plan and my cycle date ended 7/8 but it says I have 1000MB left for -2 days. What does this mean? I then have the option to 'add another 1MB of data' but then I imagine Ill have 2MB per month? I'm very confused on why this is happening and what the -2 days mean. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! thanks!
Hi Delilah05,
I apologize for any confusion caused by the message you received regarding your data usage. We normally send messages alerting you if you are approaching your data allowance before we alert you that you have exceeded your data allotment. If this was the first message you received most likely is simply alerting you about reaching your data allotment.
You are also provided the option to add an extra GB for the reminder of the billing cycle and if you choose to add that extra GB this will not be added on the following billing cycle as it is only added to your current billing cycle to cover any potential data overage.
If you receive these data usage alerts each month I would recommend to reconsider your current data plan and jump to the next Data option as it will cost you less that adding an extra GB each month.
Additionally, please keep in mind that forum members do not have access to your billing and usage information and are very limited as to the assistance they can provide regarding billing and usage. However, our customer service representatives will be happy to access your account and address all your billing and usage concerns if you call us at 1-800-922-0204 at your convenience.

  • Data Allowance?!? Any word on Verizon allowing us bigger data plans?

Is there any word on Verizon allowing bigger data plans? I understand it's a money making business, but we can't continue to get robbed for our pocket change everytime we decide to use the network... Your data calculator is broken, please realise this and fix it - Aaron

    > Is there any word on Verizon allowing bigger data plans?
No.  Even if there was it wouldn't mean anything without an official statement from VZW confirming it.  Anything else shared in here is speculation.
    > Your data calculator is broken
The data calculator (http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/splash/dataShareCalculator.jsp) is only an estimation tool.  It should not be relied upon for actual usage in any way, shape or form.  Real usage is always going to be different than whatever VZW programs into this tool.  Perhaps you are referring to something else?
"These are just estimates, and data transfer amounts will vary. Video calling application and settings in use along with network and conditions may impact the amount of data consumed. Downloads that buffer, such as streaming music and video, will bill for all of the data that has been downloaded, even though you may not have listened to or watched the entire download. Please regularly check and manage your usage.

  • How do I get Verizon to honor unlimited data plan stated on receipt?

I was among those who upgraded their phones during the "glitch" that allowed customers to keep their unlimited data plans. Our two new iPhone 5s' arrived this week, along with receipts for each that, as far as I can tell, maintain our unlimited data plan.
When I called to activate the phones, the rep told me he couldn't guarantee we would keep the unlimited plans after activation, and the activation (along with the potential change to the 2GB plan) was irreversible. I asked to speak to a supervisor, who told me we still have the option for unlimited data and that it was just our luck of the draw. I took this to mean we lucked out with the glitch. However, when the rep got back on the line he said the supervisor meant that when he (the rep) activates our phones, it will kick us to the 2GB plan, and he may be able to switch us back to the unlimited if he acts fast enough, but it was no guarantee (hence "luck of the draw"). I decided to not act just yet and got off the phone.
So, is the rep pulling my leg? I understand I got to this point through what was later revealed to be a glitch, but I thought Verizon stated to the press they would honor the orders, not to mention I have receipts showing the new phones and our current plan that we've had for years.
How should I proceed with this? Thanks for any help.

Fortunately in all my dealings with the court system "written" takes a great sway over intent. You have someone sell you a service and they write this order is final with the additions etc. Then on the day the goods or services are provided the company states this was not supposed to be agreed to (intent) the contract is based on what was written and agreed to.
I am presently locked into a simular situation now with a home improvement contractor. On the contract it stated the job must be completed no later than October 13, 2013 or sooner. Its signed by them and us. Now they missed the contract date, they are claiming the agent for the company had no right to do so. They keep pushing the date further and further away.
Went a filed a court claim for the large money we paid plus simple interest on the amount. Also found another company who will do the job now at a cost $4,000.00 more than the other company. In my state the court can grant me either as relief. Also not doing the job is criminal in nature so we can file a police complaint for grand larceny. Bad business practice.
Evidently the company was served with the summons last week. Since they called and said the work will be done complete Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
They have to honor what was written. Same thing with Verizon via their press release.
I remember years ago an online retailer had a typo in their ad, the price should have been $250 but the printed ad said $25 in that case the companies ad had a disclaimer which said not responsible for typographical errors. In this case verizon had no such disclaimer at the check out process.

  • Verizon Steals Vets Unlimited Data Plan & Veteran Discount

Whats to stop me from Filing an FCC Complaint?
    1. I was promised I was qualified for Edge Program this last Nov. Waited a couple days and went to the Verizon store on my birthday to get my new Note4 and get on Edge. At this moment the sales guy said i didn't qual. because I had a late pmt within 6 months. I of course was very upset and called Verizon to verify and sure enough they admit the initial sales people were wrong and i didn't qual for Edge.
Great birthday right!? Couldn't get worse right? Wrong, I was lucky enough to find the worst barber in town...terrible haircut!
    2. Ok so now I've conceded to suffering with my troublesome Droid M, I figure i will finally get tech support on this. 3 days later i receive a replacement and 12 hrs later i realize this one is just as bad as the previous. I call back tech support, get transferred to a second tier supervisor who states that the issue with the phone is either Me or the phone case. She insists that before she will allow a replacement i must use the phone without the case for a couple weeks. WTH!? I ask well ok, Im tough on my phone so if this one breaks because it has no case do i pay or verizon for deductible. I do she says. Arghh! Are you kidding? I seriously looked around to see if there was a camera and if i was being Punked, of course not.
So I do it, actually has been several weeks and same issues, Called tech back and guy there says he's nvr heard of any reason why a phone case wld be the issue. He says that every time tech support has to send a phone back it looks bad on them and thats probably why she lied/sidelined me. He was helpful got me scanned for a virus, found one and hard reset. Sadly same issues but now i have a replacement.
    3. During this whole ordeal trying to sort out my Edge fiasco and phone support it brought to my attn. that my grandfathered plan with unlim. data was stopped and i was put onto an expensive 10g phone plan during the time i was trying to get the edge program in Nov. Well now its Feb at the point so of course its too late they say to fix the problem! Has to be done within 15-30 days, so within the billing cycle...convenient huh? Okay so I can submit a review to change it back so i do. Denied, says its denied because its passed the 15-30 day period. Wait!, I had to submit the review to override the 15-30 day timeframe yet review is denied for the very same reason!
    4. I am told while trying to fix above issues about a week ago that Verizon decided to take away my veterans discount of 15%. Apparently this happened several months ago. They wont back date they won't retroact it. In fact to reapply for this discount I was told to go online to verify for it.
Guess what? Vets can't verify online. In fact as I was just told today We Vets have to bring a dd214 or vet advantage card down to a Corp. Verizon store so they can copy then fax it to somewhere. Then after a couple weeks it will be applied to the following billing cycle. Not prorated     or retro discount here either...no surprise.
Verizon still refuses to make good on false promises of Edge program, Fixing their error on changing my phone plan, and reinstating my Unlit. Data plan i have had for the last 8 yrs.
Has anyone else out there had similar issues or is it just me Verizon seems to hate?
I wld have left Verizon months ago after the Edge issue but sadly phone reception here is bad without them. Also Im very stubborn and I won't quit until Verizon makes this right!!

Obviously nothing is stopping you from filing an FCC complaint. Does not mean it is a valid complaint, though.
    1. You had a late payment and therefore did not qualify. Additionally, had you actually completed an Edge agreement, you would have lost your unlimited data as it is not allowed under Edge.
    4. Verizon occasionally requires re-certification of discounts to confirm that the discount is still valid. This has been the case for a couple of years now and is stated on the discount page. Additionally, you can do so online HERE and HERE.

  • Verizon OUTRAGEOUS with forced data plans

I've used Palm products since the pilot. I've had a centro for 2 yrs with verizon...now I want to upgrade to Palm Pre 2, but verizon is forcing me to buy a $30/month data plan that I don't want and will never use. I love my palm devices for reasons other than internet access. If Verizon doesn't change this policy, I'll have to abandon palm and go with another carrier. Isn't Palm losing sales becaue of verizon's greed? They should put pressure on Verizon to abandon this outrageous, greedy tactic to abuse their customers.
    Post relates to: Centro (Verizon)

Contact the FCC immediately and file an informal complaint.  As a communication company, Verizon should never by permitted by the federal government to deny internet access by its VZAccess Manager firewall and unreasonable charges.  You can find the FCC information online very easily.  Fill out the PDF and submit it.  The more of us who do that, the more responsive the federal agency will be to force Verizon to reverse its predatory scheme.

  • Is Verizon limiting my unlimited data plan?

I have an unlimited data plan. However, recently it seems like my browser, youtube and netflix apps are all running extremely slow (or not at all at times). I have a friend who is with AT&T who also has an unlimited data plan but when he hits a certain amount of data, AT&T "dials back" or slows his data functionality, making apps and all things that relate to data usage run slow. Does anyone know if Verizon does that as well?

Do you have a 3G or 4G device? If 3G, then yes, most likely you are being, 'Network Optimized'

  • IPAD 3G data plans

I live in South Africa and wish to purchase an iPAD with 3G. I believe that these are only available with a data plan e.g AT&T. I am happy to purchase a 30 day plan with them seeing as I will be travelling to the USA next month. My question is when I get back to South Africa can I get a local simm card and use that in the IPAD or is the IPAD locked for the AT&T USA network only?

Not only are they not locked to AT&T, you don't even have to get a data plan. If you get one with AT&T, there is no contract and you can sign up or discontinue on a monthly basis.

  • Switching iPhone carriers with iPad on data plan

Can an iPad2 currently on AT&T shared plan be put on a new Verizon shared plan without the wi-fi router that costs $20/month?
The Verizon salesman says no, because AT&T "programs" the iPad differently.

You can't. The Verizon uses CDMA while AT&T uses GSM. They are not hardware compatible with each other.

  • IPad2 3G Data Plan with Verizon

I'm really looking forward to purchasing the new iPad 2 when it's released on the 11th. I was leaning toward the WiFi + 3G version with Verizon as the carrier because Verizon has a larger footprint in the U.S. and I'm already a Verizon customer.
However, I spoke with a customer service rep at Verizon a couple of days ago who suggested that Verizon would be charging an initial $35 activation fee. She also said that if you canceled the data plan and decided to re-active 3G service at a later time, there would be an additional $35 for reactivating the service if the service had been turned off for 6 months or longer.
I had only planned on using the 3G service when I travel and in those rare instances when I'm not near a Wifi hotspot - neither of which happens very often. I want the flexibility of being able to purchase a month of 3G service when needed without a contract, but a $35 activation/reactivation fee is a a deal-killer for me. I'm really hoping that the Verizon rep was misinformed and that what she told me was incorrect.
Can anyone confirm that Verizon is really going to charge a $35 activation/reactivation fee with their iPad 2 data plans? Does AT&T charge a similar fee?

have the same concerns about activation / reactivation fees.. went to AT&T store and the Verizon store..also spoke to reps on phone...as best I can find out is that AT&T WILL NOT charge activation or reactivation fees whereas Verizon WILL charge these fees....only specific I could not get from any Verizon rep was how long the 3G service would have to be off before they charged another reactivation fee
find it hard to believe that Verizon is actually doing this considering the imense competition for the Ipad2 between these carriers...
looks like AT & T even though I currently have 3 phones with Verizon...

  • Verizon Data plan costs 80% more than AT&T's

Wow, so I am still in the 20th century when it comes to my cell phone...err, wireless device.  I don't have a smartphone yet and, of course, no data plan.  With the introduction of the iPhone 4 on Verizon, I figure that maybe it's time I get with it and buy a phone capable of delivering my work email to me where ever I am.  I'm finally willing to swallow the $29.99 for the Verizon data plan.  Not so, young grasshopper.  To get email from an Exchange server account, Verizon requires the "Corporate" data plan which is a whopping $45 per month!
So much for competition.  AT&T charges $25/month for 2GB of data, no matter how you have your email set up - POP, IMAP, Exchange, etc.  AH HA!...you say.  Verizon's plan is for UNLIMITED email and data, not only 2GB.  True, but here's the thing - by using both Verizon and AT&T data usage calculators, I will use less than 2GB of data based on how I expect to use the phone.
Why should I pay 80 frickin percent more for the same **bleep** thing?  Don't get me started about speed and multi-tasking either.  Oh, and what about dropped calls?  I probably average about 5 per day (in the LA metro area) with Verizon when I am out on appointments.
    Screw you Verizon.

    TedKord wrote:
Did you even read his post? He needs exchange email, so has to pay $45/month for the Verizon corporate plan. That's $20 more per month, not $5.
That said, he does have the option of going with ATT, even if for only the one phone. If you're due a new phone, you've gotta be within a few months of the contract end. By June, ATT wil probably be announcing the iPhone5. Might be worth the wait.
Thanks Ted.  I thought I stated my gripe pretty clearly.  I have been reasonably satisfied with Verizon, with the exception of their crappy choice of phones, and how they cripple the ones they have.  I just found it incredible that they charge 80% more for data than AT&T if you want email off an exchange server.  It's not like it costs them more to send and retrieve email this way - data is data.  I am most definitely NOT going to get the iPhone 4 now.  I'm going to wait for the iPhone 5 and then decide what I want to do.

  • Unlimited data plan and discount dispute on new phone

    Problem #1
Before the unlimited data plan was discontinued earlier this month, I added it to my current plan (phone is an LG EnV3)
On Monday, 7/18, I became eligible for a new phone upgrade, and wanted to purchase the Driod Incredible 2.
While on the website, I noticed that it would not let me keep the unlimited plan while upgrading, so I contacted an online service rep.
A screen capture of the conversation can be found here -->   http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/5640/chattk.jpg
The online service rep, Logan W, told me that I could keep it, all I would have to do is contact customer service afterwards and have them make sure that my current package stays.
Flash forward to today, I called customer service when I recieved my new phone, and was told that what your online service rep told me doesn't matter, that you can't keep the unlimited data plan if you move from a "feature phone" to a "smart phone."
I told her that is not what I was told prior to purchasing the phone, and she basically said she didn't care, she would send a ticket to some department to see if I could keep the unlimited data plan, but it was up to them, and that I would get a call back with their decision in 24 to 48 hours.
    Problem #2
On Monday, 7/18, the Driod Incredible 2 was shown on the Verizon Website as $159.99 - $50 online discount = $109.99
A screen capture of the webpage --> http://img810.imageshack.us/img810/5301/pricee.jpg
When I added it to the website's cart, it took off $30 for my loyalty discount, resulting in a price of
    $159.99 - $50 online discount - $30 loyalty discount = $79.99
But when I reached the final page of check out, the price went back up to $109.99.  I asked your online customer service rep about this (as seen in the above transcript) , and he said that all I would have to do is call customer service after the sale and they would credit my account for the missing loyalty discount.  I then purchased the phone for $109.99 + $8.80 tax = $118.79
Back to today, after I inquired about the unlimited data plan, I asked the customer service rep about this credit.  After checking it out, she would not believe me that the starting price was $159.99.
She at first said the phone price was $199.99 and I did get my loyalty dscount, but $199.99- $50 online discount - $30 loyalty discount = $119.99 + tax.  When I told her that wasn't the case because that was more than the $118.79 I was billed, she told me that "somehow I get a better deal and should have been charged $10 more"
I tried to tell her that her pricing does not line up with the facts (my screen capture, my order email).  She then told me that my phone was somehow actually $$139.99 and I got my loyalty discount which brought it to $109.99.  It was like she was trying to fudge the numbers so they came out to the right price.
This is a direct copy & paste from the first email I recieved from [email protected], that again shows the original price was $159.99 with a $50 online discount.
    Due Now
    Equipment Upgrade:
    1   HTC DROID INCREDIBLE 2 -regularly $159.99         $109.99*
Due now:  detail of total charges to be billed to credit card
    Shipping: Free
    Subtotal: $109.99
Taxes, Governmental Surcharges & Fees: $8.80
        NY Local Sales Tax* $4.40
        NY State Sales Tax* $4.40
Total charges to be billed to credit card: $118.79
Your customer service rep would not budge, she told me if I didn't like the price that I could send the phone back within 14 days.
I am amazed at how I was told one thing by your online service rep previous to purchasing a new phone and agreeing to a 2 year contract, but after I get the phone, I am told something completely different by your customer service rep.  I feel this is totally dishonest and a great way to make people hate your company.
All I want is VW to honor what I was told previous to purchasing this new phone.  If I can not keep the unlimited data plan I will be returning the new phone and moving on to another phone provider.

    unclebrady wrote:
    Reply to your first point:
I was unaware of this *exception* to the rule when I ordered my new phone and agreed to another 2 year contract.  I did my due dilligence by asking a verizon online service rep to confirm that my unlimited data plan would transfer *BEFORE* I ordered.  I did not know of these forums until after my most recent call when I searched google for "verizon complaint forum."   I didn't read your "transcripts" because it's a moot point - that is Verizon's policy plain and simple, and although I agree it does suck, and it's TERRIBLE that they didn't warn customers properly, the Verizon reps did not know any of the details of the new plans until they were put into affect. (Also, online reps will do ANYTHING to make a sale/commission... Just be warned for next time. I had a 2 hour conversation with one when I wasn't even eligible, who was trying to get me to pay full price but make it sound like it was discounted.)
Read the transcript.  Logan W. didn't say "maybe it will" or "probably it will" he said ""As long as you contact customer service when you get the phone to have them activate it for you they will make sure that you're current plan stays."
Also, it really is none of my concern, as a customer, about the inner workings of verizon, if the unlimited data plan is broken up to 2 different codes, 4 codes, 8 codes, etc, I'm sure if I was the CEO's brother, they'd get it straightened out in about 5 minutes.  As is, I'm just a 7 year customer, which appearently means very little. But clearly it is of your concern, when this is the reason you are not getting your data plan, isn't it? You're MAKING it your concern.
    Reply to your second point:
Again, I was not aware of these forums until after I ordered the phone.  I have a screenshot showing the original price ($159), the online discount ($50), and the price after ($109).  Verizon's customer service people should be able to see that I was also eligible for my $30 loyalty discount on that date.  But, the customer service rep I talked to stated she didn't care if I had a screenshot or not, that if I didn't like the price of $109 then I could return the phone. That was just that specific rep. You'll learn that each rep has their own way of doing things. Some are more sympathetic than others. Just keep calling until you find a rep that will take your screenshot. There have been numerous people on here that have done this, and have gotten their discount. Just like certain reps will move your upgrade date up, and others won't.
And that's the sad part of all of this.  Her attitude wasn't "how can we make this right?" it was "if you don't like it, then send the phone back"  You'd think Verizon wouldn't be so hard headed when I'm trying to give them my business, but appearently what I'm getting is a "if you don't like it then leave" attitude. Like I said, each individual rep. Not everyone in one company has the same attitude/demeanor.

  • Data plans in the new wireless world

I see an impending collapse of many peoples internet service approaching soon and very little discussion on the topic, so I decided to write this to help inform Verizon of some of its customers needs.
What originally attracted me to Verizon was its effort to push beyond the big markets and reach all of America. Create a country where everyone is "connected". Join Verizon and we will take care of you no matter where you live. These are the ideas Verizon has pushed onto people over the years and I commend them on doing a very good job at reaching these goals. The issue is, they have acquired such a large customer base it is now creating problems. An excellent marketing tactic of wireless service providers was always to offer up unlimited data plans to attract people to their service and this used to create very little risk for the service provider because wireless data was slower the telegraph!! Cellular providers used to sell phones, now they sell computers. Have they adjusted to this new market accordingly?
When you had a 3G phone or even back when it was 2G or 1XX paying extra for unlimited data was pointless. As Verizon's CFO recently pointed out "Unlimited is just a word" "people don't use near the data they think they do" this is exactly why they could profit from unlimited data in the past, because this was true. Have you ever tried to stream a hi-def movie on 3G service? you were lucky if it wasn't pausing to buffer every 10 secs, what did you do every time this happened, you stopped trying to watch it!! Therefore you didn't use the data required to stream that content. Now just when wireless technology is finally becoming fast enough to be useful or enjoyable, it is being shut down.
The new 4G LTE services have finally made it possible to reach 8-10 MB download speeds on regular basis. You can stream a full 1080 hi-def Blu-ray quality movie with 7.1 surround sound if your internet connection speed is over 5 MB. This sounds great doesn't it, finally I can watch SyFy, Hulu or Vudu with my aircard. This is the problem Verizon is facing, because that one 90 minute movie from Vudu at 1080 hi-def just sucked up 5 GB!!  No that was not a typo, full hi-def streaming video will push 4-5 GB in a couple hours. Verizon had to curtail this "excessive" data usage by reverting to tiered plans or "shared data"  so with the new data plans that was a $50 movie, at that price you would once again stop watching it and not use the data required to stream that content.
Verizon broadband could not handle this volume of data being used when people started getting 4G internet service, so they had no choice but to end unlimited plans or be faced with the reality that they could not support there millions of customers data usage. For most people this will not create a big issue because they probably still live somewhere that they have access to other internet services such as DSL, Cable, or the best at Fiber Optic. DSL and cable will usually have a plan that creates fast enough internet speeds for streaming video but you will have to pay for a premium service.
This however does create a step backwards, in what seemed like a step forward for the rural community. 3G unlimited aircard was a great option for rural community's, finally offering them an affordable internet service that often could still play Netflix, as well as all the normal uses such as e-mail and browsing, although it would not stream a 1080 hi-def movie it could at times stream a standard-def movie. Now with unlimited going out the window all those people that thought it was going to be so great to upgrade to a 4G aircard and finally watch movies, quickly realized that wasn't going to happen and worse Verizon is showing signs of completely eliminating all unlimited data as they course through their contracts looking for legal ways to stop honoring them, and for those that they can not stop honoring they have started to "throttle" usage when it exceeds a certain amount usually around 2 GB a month. This is perfectly legal to do, almost all ISP's will do this this when you exceed a certain amount of data, the difference is when your ISP offers 8 MB connection speeds and throttles you down to 5 MB speeds because you use a lot of data, you never really notice it unless you download media instead of streaming it and your downloads seem to take longer then normal but it doesn't effect you enough to complain. When your internet speeds are 1-2 MB as they are with 3G service, throttling brings you down to 300-600 KBPS!! They will throttle your speed down so much that you can't do much of anything except e-mail and browsing, Netflix will not work anymore, so thinking you can stay with a 3G device and just keep what you have isn't an option. They are forcing everyone into new plans.
In the past it was very hard to use 10 GB of data on a wireless carriers broadband because speeds were to slow to allow use of all the online media. Now it is very easy to use 60 GB a month if you like movies and online TV. (That is 60 GB without downloading any media just streaming it) Perhaps if we are lucky Verizon will once again return to the table and look for ways to help their rural customers without taking are internet away from us. If I could pay for DSL from my local phone company I would, but I do not even have a phone line tied to my house, and if I decided to get one it still would not have internet access. But due to Verizon's efforts in expanding there 4G service across the country as quickly as possible I do have excellent 4G wireless service available in my home. Just as I thought it was time to get a Verizon aircard and start watching movies again, they told me you will never be able to afford it.
If Verizon can create a rural community data plan for users that have no other means to access the internet and and it doesn't cost $600 a month then I will happily buy it, and also understand that it cannot cost $30 a month either, but if people could get, Phone, Internet (with say 50 GB limit), TV (by tv I don't mean Verizon TV that I agree should be an addition to the bill, i mean the free hulu, syfy and payed netflix accounts that are accessible with any internet connection fast enough to stream), Movie Store in their living room (Vudu) all in one package I think that $200 a month is a reasonable price.
Now all I can do is wait and see who calls first. If Verizon creates a new data plan that allows media streaming at a reasonable price ill buy it. If my Local phone company offers me high speed internet and phone first, ill buy that instead and throw my current $140 month Verizon bill in the trash when I end the contract. I will not have 2 phones, I only have a Verizon phone because I have no Land line in my home. So I guess the race is on to see who can maintain the rural community's business.

What about Via Sat Exede satellite? 12 Mbps down and 3 Mbps up
    25GB $130
Free data midnight to 5 am
Hook up VoIP phone and you got close to what you are asking, depending if you are a night owl or not.

  • Data plan!  why???  whats the difference of me using Wifi or being charged for a data plan?

Feature phones iterally suck, even the internet pro reviews on the phones are very low and most of the feature phones that are  reviewed  the reviewer gives  their  last comment as "don't buy" .
I do not need a data plan, ( I carry either a Verizon netbook or a notebook for all my internet needs) nor am I comfortable with the charge of a data plan being necessary or is this simply another way for a large company with a large profit margin to stick it to the consumer knowing we have to maintain a cell phone in this day and age?.
I had settled on the KinTwo, the reviews are not glowing but .... r not that horrible either.  It is also the only phone which gives the owner WiFi accessibility.  (which makes me wonder if this is the reason Verizon has pulled it off the market).  From my extensive research the KinTwo is the only feature phone choice.  But..... When I went back to the site to order it was gone, and the VW stores do not carry it.
UGH>  I am so discouraged by the data plans and the extremely high price.  Would someone please tell me what the difference is in my using my Netbook, laptop (notebook) on WiFi and not being charged a data fee?  Or why I can bring Wireless Internet into my home and have all my WiFi accessible electronics connect through my main ISP with an additional fee for each WiFi user????   But I am not able to use a Smartphone this way???
I am serious about these data plans  are they necessary????

once upon a time verizon did not require data plans
    many users were happy
but t h is did not last for users started having problems with thier hands
they would often hit the wrong buttons and use data
sometims as little as a mb, sometimes many mb
verizon forums and customer service started recieving phone calls to get credits for this usage
after all its not the users fault is it? i mean are they responsible if they had the phone to a 2 year old to play with and the kid brings up the browser?
so verizon decided it was in its best interest to protect its users.  they started requireing data plans so you wouldnt get hit with huge bills for being an idiot.
So if you wanna cry about data plans blame all those people out there that complained

  • Data Plans

    Here's the question:
Verizon Wireless requires a data plan for the Samsung Omnia 2, but Best Buy gives me the option of not having a Data Plan for the SAME PHONE. Since it is not required for Best Buy, and I choose to order it from Best Buy, when I activate for Verizon Wireless will they charge me for the data plan.

If it is required through verizon then yes it will tack on once the phone is activated.
