Brother HL 2070N stopped printing

I know this is probably more about the printer than the Apple, since I doesn't work with any of my Macs, but I am hoping someone knows of perhaps a preference file or something that needs to be deleted, that the people at Brother may not know (since these discussion groups are GENIOUS and can usually come up with the answers when not third party or even Apple can't.
It had been printing just fine, using the Time Capsule. I had a light indicating the toner was low, and I bought new toner. After a while it stopped printing, and although it didn't have the solid light indicating the toner was out, I replaced it anyway. The blinking light went away, but it still won't print. The doc sends to the printer, but in the queue I get an error message pausing the printer that says Reading Error! I have deleted the printer from the utility setup, added it again, and still nothing. I tried connecting it directly to the Mac and although it found the printer in the setup, it does the same thing.
Thoughts? Please?
Thanks
Shelley

I had the same problem with my Brother HL-2070N after upgrading to a new MacBook Pro from a black MacBook. Everytime I tried to print a test page I'd get the error "opening raster file failed." I reinstalled the printer drivers from my Leopard disk and still had the same problem. I tried other Brother drivers, as suggested by other people who have had this problem, but still kept getting the same error every time I tried to print a test page.
Then I tried and experiment and tried to print from Text Edit. Now, lo and behold, I find I can print from an application, like Word, but still not print a test page!? I'm not sure what's going on, but after you've got everything installed/updated/reinitiated, try printing from, say, Text Edit, and see if it still doesn't work.
Hope this helps point you in the right direction.

  • Can'd add Brother hl-2070N printer

I can't add my new Brother HL-2070N printer. It is plugged in and functional (test page prints fine when I press the button on the printer itself). I connected it to the USB port on my macbook pro with a working printer cable. I opened the printers utility, clicked "+", gave it a name, left the location unchanged (automatically selected as my local machine), selected "Brother HL-2070N series CUPS 1.1" from the "model" drop-down menu, and press "add." Then nothing. Nothing happens. I press "add" and I get no dialog box, no new printer, nothing.
I then downloaded the drivers manually from brother's website and tried it again, but still nothing. I've restarted several times, still nothing. Help!

Yes, I tried that. I believe there may be some sort of problem with the apple version of the driver for this printer. I have XP installed on my machine via bootcamp, and I am able to install drivers for and successfully print to the same printer using the same cable and same USB port in Windows. But I can't add the printer from OS X. Please help!

  • Trouble setting up a Brother HL-2030 laser printer with CUPS

    Hi,
I have a Brother HL-2030 laser printer that I've already setup successfully at work, on various distributions: CentOS, Debian and Slackware. I also have this printer at home, so I tried to set it up on my brandnew Arch install. I have a base system with X11 and XFCE desktop environment. To setup CUPS on Arch, I've followed the according CUPS Wiki entries on archlinux.org and archlinux.de.
Here's the packages I installed to have CUPS:
    - cups
    - ghostscript
    - a2ps
    - gutenprint
    - foomatic-db
    - foomatic-db-engine
    - foomatic-db-ppd
    - foomatic-filters
I edited /etc/cups/cupsd.conf, and here's what I changed to the default configuration:
    # Only listen for connections from the local machine.
    Listen localhost:631
    Listen 192.168.1.2
    # Restrict access to the server...
    # By default only localhost connections are possible
    <Location />
    Order allow,deny
    Allow localhost
    Allow 192.168.1.*
    </Location>
    # Restrict access to the admin pages...
    <Location /admin>
    # Encryption disabled by default
    #Encryption Required
    Order allow,deny
    Allow localhost
    Allow 192.168.1.*
    </Location>
I started the CUPS daemon, connected to the web interface at http://localhost:631 and setup my printer with the Gutenprint drivers for HL-2060 (as recommended). Then I defined the printer as default.
Here's the output of lpstat -t in a Terminal, which shows the printer OK:
    [root@archtest2:/etc/cups] # lpstat -t
    l'ordonnanceur tourne
destination par défaut du système : BrotherHL2030
    périphérique pour BrotherHL2030 : usb://Brother/HL-2030%20series
BrotherHL2030 accepte les requêtes depuis le ven 11 avr 2008 08:04:04 CEST
But when I try to print the CUPS test page, I get... nothing. The printer shortly begins to hum, but doesn't print.
Next step, I set the LogLevel in cupsd.conf to being more verbose. Here's the output of /var/log/cups/error_log when I try in vain to print a test page:

    Any suggestions?

my brother hl-1430 shows similar symptoms. should i install the brother drivers for this model too? it worked a few weeks ago... but cups tend to break stuff... constantly. i had this printer working for years, then it wouldn't work for about a year (on gentoo), then i switched to arch where it worked with kde and now it stopped working again. i'm really wondering what those guys are doing over there.

  • Lynksys BEFSR41 hates Brother HL 2070N

    Computer: Mac Pro
    OS: 10.5.8
I installed a Lynksys Router (Mod. BEFSR41 ver. 4.1) and now I can't print to my Brother HL 2070N.
I have upgraded the firmware for both the router and the printer. The router can't recognize the printer (Message: failed to connect to the device) or its drivers (when trying to add the printer after erasing it in System Prefs.) However, Brother FirmwareUpdater updated it from version 1.33 to 1.48.
I can print to an Epson Stylus 1280 that is in the same router. I have another router (Belkin F5D7230-4) and it communicates and prints OK.
    What's happening?

  • My setup: iMac hardline to Canon i960 printer. Issue: endless printing of the same document. The printer window states that the pinter is in use and there is nothing listed in the Print Queue.  How can I stop printing the document?

My setup: iMac hardline to Canon i960 printer. Issue: endless printing of the same document. The printer window states that the pinter is in use and there is nothing listed in the Print Queue.  How can I stop printing the document?

Soution: Delete the printer and add the same printer back in, therefore creating a new print queue.

  • All in One Printer C5180 stopped printing/scanning from mac 10.6.8

    Hi
My All-in-One C5180 has stopped printing and scanning from mac 10.6.8. It had worked for the past few years but after not using it for 8 months (out of country) it hasn't worked since I came back. I have done as a few suggested, carried out a software update on mac and also downloaded a new driver from this site. Neither worked. The message appearing is " printer off-line" and the printer symbol has red exclamation mark.
    Would really appreciate any help.
    Thanks in advance
    Anne

Correction to initial post: The 6 tiny sections incorrectly printed on a single sheet are actually from the bottom right-hand quadrant of the original PDF page - NOT the upper right-hand quadrant.

  • HP Laserjet 400 M401n won't stop printing when more than 1 copy is specified

I use this HP Laserjet printer on a network. It's brand new. I print from both Macbook Pro and / or Mac Pro running OS 10.9.5. Downloaded and installed latest HP printer driver.
Problem: I can print 1 page just fine. But when I specify more than that, the printer will not stop printing copies for the number I specified. I have to press the cancel button to stop it. I have tried resetting the printer. No luck.

    I don't use spell catcher.
I found a workaround posted elsewhere in the Apple discussion forum. When going through the printing dialog boxes, select Preview and print whatever number of pages I need from that window. It works fine so I'll use that method until a future Mac OS X update fixes the problem.
The security update for OS X on 3-1-06 didn't fix the problem even after I repaired permissions.
    Thanks for responding.

  • Laserjet pro 200 color mfp m276nw stop printing memory low

laserjet pro 200 color mfp m276nw stops printing giving an error message that the is memory low. How do I clear the memory?

I have had the same issue, cannot print multiple pages without having the memory low error appear.  I have cleared the faxes from the setting menu. I have done an NVRAM reset and am able to print a 3 page document once and then receive the low memory error when I attempt to print another 3 page document. Please PM me the way to resolve this problem.  Thanks in advance.

  • HP LaserJet P1505n stops printing and blocks network interface

I have been using my P1505n for over two years without any problem. But it suddenly stopped printing. The scenario is as follows:
    1. The P1505n is connected to a wired home network with reserved IP address in the DHCP server.
    2. The P1505n is used from Ubuntu 10.4, 11.4 , Windows XP and Windows 7 without any previous problems.
    3. The last partial successful print job stopped in the middle of a page leaving the rest blank: no paper jam.
    4. I have reset the printer several times: turn off + press Cancel & Go + turn on while holding the two buttons down.
    5. The first reset was successful: the toner level going from 40 to 100%. The next ones may have been successfull too.
    6. After each reset and also after each power-on, I can ping and access the embedded web server.
    7. Whenever I send a print job, the print queue on the computer (all OS behave identically) says "printing" and stops. I can cancel/remove the jobs from Ubuntu.
    8. After the printer receives the print job, it silently blocks the network interface (no ping nor web) and doesn't print anything. No movementsm no LED blinking either: just nothing happens.
What is the reason for this problem? And how do I solve it?

    Hi firedude007,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I see that your HP Laserjet P1102w stops printing files from your Mac but not on Windows, and I am happy to help!
For further assistance, I will need to know the following information:
The version number of the Mac Operating System. To find the exact version, visit this link. Whatsmyos.
If the printer is connected, Wireless, or USB.
If the printer is able to make copies by itself.
In the meantime, I would try the following:
Reset the printing system. Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system.
Verify and repair disk permissions. Disk Utility 12.x: Repair disk permissions.
Hope to hear from you, and thank you for posting!

  • HP LaserJet CM1415fnw stop printing

My CM 1415fnw stopped printing today from every computer in the house. I have had this printer for about a year without any other problems. The wirless network test report states "pass" but the HP Toolbox FX states printer not connected to the network. I have reinstalled from factory settings and started from beginning again. Still same result. The only thing that has changed recently is I had to install a new wireless router in the house. That said, the printer was working fine for the last 3 days on the new router. Any ideas?

It may be that the printer got a new IP address from the new router.   You might look at your printer properties on your pc and look under ports, open up the port and see what IP address it was configured for.  Now print out a config report from your printer and see if they match.  If they are different that may likely be the issue.  To help elimate this problem, (some wireless router will force IP address changes quite often) the best thing to do is assign a manual IP address on your printer.  Please refer to your manual or other support to see how to do that.   You can use the printer's control panel to do this but you just need to make sure you don't choose an ip address that your router might try and give to another device (computer, etc).

  • HP LaserJet P-1006 printer stopped printing after Windows update

One day this printer stopped printing.  Items were queued, wouldn't print.
    Tried changing cables.
    Uninstalled and reinstalled HP software.
Ran HP Printer and Scan Doctor.  Says it fixed Printer spooler error.  Won't print test page.  It's queued.
Ran Windows troubleshooter:  Printer Spooler service isn't runng.  However in Services, Printer Spooler is Started, Auto.
Installed on laptop -- printer prints fine.
    I'm stumped.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • HP laserjet 3300 mfp has stopped printing

My HP laserjet 3300 mfp has suddenly stopped printing. The error log gives no information although is has occasionally given the following message recently:
Error0=2009/10/15 14:54:44 - GetProductDeviceID: Not PML registered, so cannot unregister
Error1=2009/10/15 14:54:41 - unable to find and PML register with device
The trouble shooting process gets me nowhere: nothing has changed (except MS updates! ). I can see the printer from all control panels on the network. It says 'error' but gives no clue as to what that might be. I've tried printing with notepad and a test document and rebooting but nothing works. Its photocopying facility works fine. Help, anyone?

I would think the ip address and folder options of the printer is what probably changed and when you setup the printer again you did so with a new ip address but also had to put the folder info in again. Suggest you type in the ip address of the printer into your web browser and see if there is a link there to setup the scan to folder and if there is, put the correct information back in.

  • I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500A that stopped printing from my HP Pavilion notebook.

I have a HP officejet pro 8500a printer that has stopped printing. It will not print anything off of my HP pavilion notebook and I just found out that it will not copy anything either. Does anyone know what the problem may be?

HI @anewleaf , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I see you're running into copy and print issues.  I'd love to help!
I have a few questions before we get the ball rolling:
Are you using Windows or Macintosh?
If you are using Windows, is it a 32-bit or a 64-bit system?
    Do you recieve any errors?
Is the printer not printing any pages, or printing blank pages?
I'm including documents that will help you find the system info:
Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
Which Windows operating system am I running?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?
Please let me know what you find.  Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!
