BSP Changes in built-in SAP applications

Hello all,
I am aware of BSP programming and had developed couple of applications using the same. But those were independent applications fetching data from SAP data dictionary.
Now I am working on SAP SCM where there are built-in pages and I wanted to customize those pages i.e. to make few changes in layout and corresponding logic to process the same.
Is there any feature in BSP like user-exits or BADIs in core ABAP by which I can make those changes or in general how I should proceed in such cases?

Hi,
Modifying standard application is not recommendable. You will have problems afterwards when you update your core system and will get SPAU (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/c8/61ec66e33611d1954b0000e82de14a/frameset.htm)
I would copy it to a non SAP namespace and do modifications. BSP doesn't offer any special BADIs nor ABAP for specific purposes.

Thanks for ur reply.
I've imported the JSP as a mime object into the BSP.
Now I've created the page to show that Mime Object as an image.
But nothing is coming as an output.
But then,there is an option for that mime object. i.e when I right click on the mime object there is an option called " convert to BSP".
I selected that option and it created a view in my BSP .( My BSP is a page with flow logic application )
Now how should i make this view to be an output ?
I guess this shud be posted in the BSP Forum ...but still taking a chance here :)-

Changing Character set in SAP BODS Data Transport

Hi Experts,
I am facing issue in extracting data from SAP.
Job details: I am using an ABAP data Flow which fetches the data from SAP and loads into Oracle table using Data Transport.
Its giving me below error while executing my job:

 End of file was found without reading a complete row for file <D:/DataService/SAP/Local/Z_R3_QMMA>. The expected number of
 columns was <30> while the number of columns actually read was <10>. Please check the input file for errors or verify the
 schema specification for the file format. The number of rows processed was <8870>.
reason: When analyzed I found the reason for this is presence of special characters in data. So while generating the data file in SAP working directory which is available on SAP Application server the SAP code page is 1100 due to which the delimeter of the file and the special characters are represented with #. So once the ABAP is executed and data is read from the file it is treating the # as delimiter and throwing the above error.
I tried to replace the special characters in ABAP data Flow but the ABAP data Flow doesnot support replace_substr function. I also tried changing the Code Page value to UTF-8 in SAP datastore properties but this didnt work as well.
Please let me know what needs to be done to resolve this issue. Is there any way we change the character set while reading from the generated data file in BODS to convert code page 1100 to UTF-8.

Unfortunately, I am no longer working on this particular project/problem. What I did discover though, is that /127 actually refers to character <control>+<backspace>. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delete_character)
In SAP this and any other unknown characters get converted to #.
The conclusion I came to at the time, was that these characters made their way into the actual data and was causing the issue. In fact I think it is still causing the issue, since no one takes responsibility for changing the records, even after being told exactly which records need to be updated ;-)
I think I did try to make the changes on the above mentioned file, but without success.

Thanks, Flex harUI, for the direction in regards to isolating build changes. That aside (still working on it), can you offer any direction in regards to my original question on SDK and AIR compatibility? I'm specifically looking for a version compatibility mapping or anything that definitively states, "Flex SDK x.y.z works with the following versions of AIR". This information is crucial for us in order to more specifically plan our own roadmap built upon these two frameworks as we consider both existing installations of our software and future distributions.

Change Expense Report in FITV_POWL_TRIPS Application

Hi,
In my workflow, i would like to call the change expense report in FITV_POWL_TRIPS application.
In FITV_POWL_TRIPS Application, it shows all the expense reports and if user wants to Change, then need to press the CHANGE button which shows in the ALV control, in turn calling the SALV_WD_TABLE webdynpro component.
I would like to know which page or iview do i need to call in my workflow, for Change expense report?

the buttons in FITV_POWL_TRIPS always jump to the original Ressources of your Backend's Homepage Framework, apparently somewhere is hardcoded these original sap ressources are used. If you can't, for whatever reasons, use the original ressource for the respective PCD-URL, you have to enhance/modify the respective method in WD4A...
I couldn't find out myself when we tested Travel Management on our sandbox system. I wager there's some method for ALV-Grid Designing... if you happen to find out, let me know
If you can, take my advice and use the original ressources.

Hello , The Hp DP team has done integration of our SAP application server with Hp DP software. However when we check with DB13 transaction we gets following error.,. We have modified initSID.sap file to take backup on disk . Does we need to change anything else tohave ful backup in DB13.

Hi,
I believe in the BRBACKUP command you are using rman_util or rman_disk command. Please go through the below link:

Try to run the BRbackup command from the OS level and see.
If you are using RMAN, you have to create a catalog database and register it and then allocate channels.

You can use the report RSSPACECHECK to check the size of SAP client. You can also use the test run option in client copy to determine the size os a client.

However, individual and contextual differences exist.
Gamification uses an empathy-based approach (such as Design thinking) for introducing, transforming and operating a service system that allows players to enter a gameful experience to support value creation for the players and other stakeholders.Gamification designers address the user as player to indicate that the motivations and interests of the player are in the center of the gamification design.
Gamification in a narrow sense is used in a non-game context, is built into the service system, and is aiming at an infinite experience. It does not aim at creating a game but offering a gameful experience. In a broader sense gamification also includes game context such as in serious games and finite and infinite games.

Domain Functionalities for SAP Applications

Hi All,
I have 2 questions:
1) what are the benefits from joining SAP Applications to domain ( on operating system level)
2) I have SAP Applications that are installed on Linux and the domain is windows 2003, is it useful to add them to the domain or we have to change it to Linux domain

Explain what?
A Windows domain authenticates users centrally and provides services (such as print services) that can only be used by members of the domain. That's why a SAP installation should be done in a domain if you want to use those services.

As of Windows 2008 only domain installations are supported, standalone installations are deprecated.
Be aware of the following:
You can not such put the server in a domain if the system is already installed. You will need to do a homogeneous system copy to do so because the complete environment of the installation changes.

SAP Applications Copy.

Good Evening Gurús.
My SAP Production System is installed as a Distributed System:
SAP Application Host:_ AIX 5.2 - SAP Application (Central Instance - Central Services) based on NW 7.0 - ERP 2005 SR1.
DATABASE HOST: AIX 5.2 - Oracle 10G ver 10.2.0.2.0. - Database remains in SAN (Storage Area Network)
Purpose: I want to change move only SAP Application to a new host and connect to my current Database Host .
Question:
Using Homogeneus Copy (Abap+Java) can I copy ONLY SAP Instances (Central Instance and Central Services) to a new host without copying Database ?

Hi!
This sounds pretty straightforward if you follow the homogenous system copy guide and skip the part for the DB instance is this one stays untouched. Just make sure that you know all the schema passwords...
If you want to think as little as possible you can even copy the DB instance on itself with sapinst probably.
Not sure if this is advisable though...and be sure to have a good backup of all your servers.

P.S. One last remark: To save you trouble in teh future you might think about installing the SAP instances with virtual names on virtual IPs.

via transactions OBMSG...Application Area-AC

to this account.By implementing this note, the above error message is
replaced by a warning message.Following account maintenance, you may

Restore/recover SAP application

One of our ABAPer's made a change in SAP application & transported the changes to PRD
Now payroll cannot run. Is it possible to restore the application to its original state from backup ?

Hi,
Sunil, Audun, and Nick is proposing the right way. All you need is to ask your ABAP-er to find the old version of its program and transported again.
Just hope it worked. Since sometimes user exit doesn't provide backward versioning.
I have this experience before.

Should'nt you make changes here : Middleware_Home>\instances\instance1\bifoundation\OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent\coreapplication_obips1
\analyticsRes\WEB_INF\web.xml
Follow this note : OBIEE 11g: How To Access Custom Files Through URL By Creating Virtual Directory In Weblogic Server? [ID 1408240.1]
And you should be able to deploy that virtual directory and access it after authentication.
