BT HomeHub firmware upgrade broken network connect...

whatever you guys have done with the latest firmware release on the Homehub 2 has completely messed up my dual-boot Ubuntu-Win7 installation.
Current firmware 4.7.5.1.83.3.18 (Type B)
Last Updated 21/04/11
Ever since Friday when I boot into Win7 then reboot into Ubuntu, Ubuntu cannot aquire an IP address from the router. I have to do a factory reset on the router to get an address. I've 10's of port forwarding setup and this is far from ideal.
What do I do to go back a firmware or who do I contact to get it fixed.
Its a bit pathetic TBH and I'm quite annoyed about this

I've got exactly the same (baffling) problem with my BT HomeHub 2 and Ubuntu 10.10. - worked fine last Wednesday (20th April) and won't work today (26th April). Can see the router just fine but won't connect wirelessly or wired but will connect to BT Open Zone which is enabled on my hub and a couple of other hubs nearby. The OpenZone connection is full strength (which is my hub) - none of the neighbouring connections has ever been a full strength signal. Very odd.
Checked to see if it was my Ubuntu set up by running the machine off the installation disk and got exactly the same symptoms. My HomeHub also updated its firmware some time on the 21st April so, given that nothing else has changed (my windows 7 laptop has continued to work flawlessly) I am driven to the conclusion, like other correspondents here, that the HomeHub update is the culprit.
Ubuntu is growing and it would be good to see BT do some work on this quickly.

  • Homehub Firmware update causes wireless connection...

Firstly I know this is technically a double post but i hadn't realised i had posted in a solved topic.. So from previous posting
I now cannot get wireless connection on a HTC Legend running android 2.2  everything has been working fine for the last 8-9months then after the new firmware that was applied to my homehub on 7/5/11 it all stopped working on the 8th. Before posting i had been into the hub manager and cleared the device list, Changed from WPA to WEP to Nothing and back, tried changing channels etc.
I have also cleared the connection from the HTC legend to no effect. This seems rather too coincidental that the firmware update including "Improvements for smartphones" and it now longer works.  I have tested the legend on other wifi networks and all works well so definately not a phone issue. Interestingly my Desire HD still connects ok ot the homehub but runs 2.2.1 not 2.2.
I would like to roll back the firmware to the previous version on the homehub but cannot find anywhere to get the binaries. Can anyone point me to the right location. Or do i have to do a full hardware reset to restore factory firmware. I'm sure that there have likely been updates that i may actually need?
    Cheers

  • Downloading iTunes Plus song upgrades problem - network connection msg

I recently upgraded to iTunes 10.1. I also purchased the iTunes plus song upgrades for most of my library. When I try to download these upgrades, I get the same message, which is something like "iTunes Network Connection Time Out". However, I have purchased new songs since and been able to download without issue. I have tried all of the following fixes with no avail.
    -Uninstall and Reinstall
    -disabled firewall completely
    -Flushed DNS Cache
None of the above have had any impact on the problem. If I cannot fix this, I will contest the charge for the upgrade with my bank since no one at Apple has been able to help.

I am having the exact same problem. I tried contacting Apple support - I explained my problem and provided the info from running Diagnostics. What I got in return was a cut-and-paste answer about being sure to log in and check my cables, as well as " please note that the iTunes Store cannot investigate every user's connection issue". So what's the point of sending an email in the first place? I'm very frustrated - my iTunes plus upgrade was over $400, and it was billed to my credit card weeks ago while I've been trying to get this solved. I am about to call my bank as well.

  • Kernel Upgrade Breaks Network Connection

    My server uses:
    [15:48] (tunix@kulupler ~)$ pacman -Qs kernel
    local/kernel26 2.6.19.1-1
        The Linux Kernel and modules
    local/kernel-headers 2.6.19.1-1
Kernel headers sanitized for use in userspace
for kernel. The latest kernel upgrade (2.6.19.2-1) breaks network connection after ~5 minutes from the boot. When the network connections fails, kernel says:
Jan 12 15:10:44 kulupler ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth0: link is not ready
The connection never comes either after a network service restart, nor ifconfig eth0 up/down etc... The only solution is to restart, but after ~5 min. it fails again.
So, as a solution, I just downgraded the kernel to 2.6.19.1-1 again.

  • Mountain Upgrade + Missing Network Connections

I just did the recent Mountain upgrade to 10.8.5 and all my printer network connections and my home network connection (which I paid to have set-up) are now missing.  Please tell me there is an easy fix to this problem.
    Thanks in advance.

I can't tell you there is an easy fix because I don't know what's wrong. Requires troubleshooting.
Please start by doing a Safe Boot (it does some repair stuff in the process).
To do a Safe Boot, restart or turn on the computer. After hearing the gong sound, press and hold the Shift key until you see the progress indicator. Then you can release the shift key. Safe Boot will take longer - up to ten or 15 minutes. You can confirm you are in Safe mode by seeing the words Safe Boot at top of login dialog and top of Finder.
Test your internet while in Safe mode. Let us know that result.
Now, restart in normal mode by Not pressing shift.
Again check internet and tell us the result.
If still not working, go to System Preferences, Network prefs, and tell us every thing you see in that dialog box. (left side, what's listed and what color indicator dots by each, etc.)

  • SA520W Firmware Upgrade - Slow Network

Hello - we have a client who has two sites, each with an SA520W connected via a Site-to-Site VPN. Over the weekend while performing maintenance we upgraded the firmware of both SA's to 2.1.18 from 1.1.16. The upgrade went without a hitch at both sites.
Site A hosts the domain controller. After the upgrade, Site B ground to a halt. It took at a minimum 15 minutes for anyone to log in to their computers and authenticate to the DC and we were getting time outs left and right. Network communications at Site A were not effected.
After trying a few different things we finally switched the firmware back to 1.1.16 at both sites (to stay consitant) and the issue was instantly resolved. The timeouts dissapeared and the network was back up and fully operational.
Has anyone had this? Was something introduced in this FW that we missed?? Seems like something pretty major to me if so that we must have overlooked if it was intentional.
Any help or info would be appreciated.  Thanks.

    Hi Wayne,
Is it possible for you to provide us the configuration file of SA520W.
If you do not want to post it on this community forum, you can send it through private message to me.
    Thanks,
    Nitin.

  • Software upgrade breaks network connection

After upgrading the software for the Airport base station I have lost connection between my desktop unit and PB.
Prevously this worked without any problems.
    The configuration is:
Cable modem connected to ASANTE 3004.
    Desktop connected to ASANTE
AEB Connected via the WAN to ASANTE
PB using Airport to connect to ASANTE
eMac Connected to the ASANTE, this is seen by the desktop.
    The PB sees the internet.
    The Desktop sees the internet
But the PB using Airport doesn't see either of the Desktop units and vice versa.
If I connect the PB to the ASANTE with a direct ethernet cable both units see each other.
This seems to have been brought on by the upgrade to the base units software.
Can anyone suggest what might have changed as a result of the upgrade or what could be the source of the problem?

  • No Network Connectivity on G4 after Tiger upgrade.

Yes, I know the machine is ancient. It's a Power Mac G4 with dual 1.25Ghz processors. Has a built in Airport card.
I did a clean install of the Mac OS the machine came with... 10.2. Airport worked fine, was able to get online.
Then, I did an upgrade to Tiger (10.4). After the upgrade ALL network connectivity is gone, cannot connect via Airport or Ethernet.
Airport card still shows up in system profiler, and the status icon is next to the time display. However, it is greyed out, and zero networks show up as being available. There are at least 5 networks available on my other Macs.
Also, Ethernet connection doesnt work either. Again, works fine when plugging the same Ethernet cable into my MacBook...works wonderfully via Ethernet. When connected directly to the Power Mac G4 however, no connectivity. No IP address at all. I've even tried doing a manual IP address, to no avail.
    PLEASE HELP!!

Have been experiencing intermittent drop out of wireless connection and became concerned that WRT54G router was starting to die as all other compnents seemed to be working fine. Decided to do firmware upgrade of router but wouldn't you know, in the middle of firmware upgrade the intermittent connection problem occured and the firnware upgrade process was interuppted. Discovered that is a no-no and now can;t seem to find a way to upgrade the router without forking over $29.99 to Cisco to get technical help when I know what is needed based on their article on doing a firmware upgrade. Is there any way to fix this problem for free? What ever happened to being able to upgrade routers for free?

  • Network connection extremely slow after snow leopard upgrade

I should first state that my son's new Intel Mac Mini (2009 model) is working fine without any issues - it is on the "n" band. My wife's macbook (on Leopard) and my Thinkpad are continuing to work fine - both connecting to the "g" band of my Simultaneous Dual band AEBS.
On my 2008 model mac mini, the installation went thru fine, but the network connection is extremely slow - it is connecting using the "g" band. Even when I launch the Airport utility, it takes a while to locate the AEBS and then when I click on "Manual Setup", it takes a very very long time to read the configuration. This tells me that the airport interface on the mac mini has some driver issue.
I tried all the suggestions given in other threads (listed below), but none of them worked.
    1. Created a new network location and rebooted
    2. Trashed the com.apple.airport.airportutility.plist and rebooted
    3. Rebooted countless number of times - illogical, but that kicks in when I can't find a solution.
It is past midnight here (20miles from Apple headquarter). Going to wait for another 30minutes. After that, I will use SuperDuper to install my Leopard back on my mac mini which I had cloned before starting the installation.
Appreciate any suggestions - I am open to any prayer solution as well! If not, the Snow Leopard family pack is going back to the Apple store on Monday.
Just saw at engadget: "On a 17-inch unibody we were putting through the paces, the WiFi inexplicably has gone out and we have yet to get it working again."

Some more info about my setup:
    *Simultaneous Dual band AEBS:*
    Radio Mode: 802.11n only (5 GHz) - 802.11b/g
    Radio Channel Selection: Manual - 161 (5GHz), 6(2.4GHz)
    *Airport Express:*
Wireless mode: Extend a wireless network
Allow wireless clients checked under the name of the network (same as for AEBS).
Both are WPA/WPA2 Personal security. And both the routers were upgraded to 7.4.2 firmware this morning with the hope that it will help.
    *N Devices (both working fine):*
    Apple TV 40GB
2009 Model Mac Mini upgraded to Snow Leopard - working perfectly.
    *G Devices:*
    Thinkpad running WinXP
    Dell Laptop running WinXP
    Acer Netbook running WinXP
    iPod Touch
    iPhone 3G
    Linksys webcam
_All of the above are working fine_.
+2008 model Mac mini -+ upgrade to Snow Leopard shows extremely slow wifi connection that it is unusable. It takes 20min to load apple homepage. When I boot from the clone of my Leopard lying on my external drive, it works perfectly.
I compared the settings between all the tabs of Network-->Airport-->Advanced and they are identical between Snow Leopard and Leopard mode except that SL doesn't have the "Apple Talk" tab.
Appreciate any help to debug this.

  • Did scan to Diskstation stop connecting with firmware upgrade CLP1CN1516AR

I use my HP 8600 N911g almost daily to scan to LAN network attached storage, in this case a Diskstation. As of today I cannot scan to the Diskatation any more, it just will not connect. I have tried powering off in turn the printer, the router, the diskstation, letting each sit for 1 or more minutes before restarting, to no avail. I can print from my laptop to the printer, i can ping it via IP address and computername, I can open up its web interface and test the network locations - four are defined on the Diskstation, none of them connect. I created a new definition of an existing folder on the Diskstation and tested that, it also could not connect. From my laptop (Windows 7 SP1 64) I can access the Diskstation folders fine through both Windows Explorer and a command line interface. HP diagnostic tools on my laptop all run fine except for the scan test, which pulls in both sheets of paper from the ADF tray but the second sheet does not quite get ejected and the test locked up my printer; cancel and power button did nothing so I had to unplug it. I noticed yesterday that my printer said it was downloading an upgrade but eventually it aborted. Today I ran HP 8600 tools and it said I was up to date. It reported firmware version CLP1CN1516AR, which I understand was released 7/20/15. Could this upgrade be the problem? My printer is connected via ethernet to a LinkSys router that is bridged wirelessly to  a Verizon FiOS ActionTec router to which the Diskstation is ethernet attached. This system has been in place for a year or so. My laptop, bridged router and printer are all within 3 feet of each other, the ActionTec is 30' away through two walls, my latop rates the ActionTec 4/5 bars in Windows icon or -59 dBm from  Xirrus WiFi Inspector, from near to the printer. Vey frustrating. Any ideas, please?

I was called by HP Support, they reached me Friday just as I was about to leave to go on vacation for two weeks. They had read this thread and knew it was more than just me. They acknowledged a problem and assigned me a case number but closed my ticket, I need to call them when I am back on the 24th August so we can work to find a solution. They will open a new ticket then.
I hope HP will contact you and open a ticket for you and resolve the problem and issue a new firmware upgrade including the fix so that I can try it when I return, but that might be a stretch as presumably it goes through some QA testing before they release it. At least they should start working on it with your help.
Please keep us posted on any developments.
For a workaround I enabled scan to computer and email scan. I tried webscan interface and it scans but when finished it says click the save button to save but there is no save button, the two scan and cancel buttons remain unchanged from before initiating the scan. I tried both of those and they do what they say they do and don't save. I can see a preview mini image of the page and if I hover over it it presents a series of icons including a diskette but when I click that I can go through the motions of saving but the file is empty. The email scan is easiest to use, I send to myself and it takes a few minutes after scanning to appear in my inbox and sent folder. From there I can download to NAS or forward as an email. But compared to scan to network it is much slower and more labor intensive.
Good luck, both of you (pcni & greylisted).

  • Hard connect for firmware upgrade?

In my investigations as to what set-up I would llike to use for my wireless network, I noticed that DLink is adamant that their firmware upgrades be done with the router hard wired to the computer, rather than wirelessly.
I wonder if that is advisable for upgrading Airport Express firmware? I didn't see anything to that effect on the Apple download site for the January, 2006 version of the firmware. The assumption seems to be it's OK to conduct the upgrade wirelessly.
Can one connect the Airport Express via ethernet to the computer and perform the upgrade that way? Would that remedy the problems some have reported applying the upgrade. Would that require Airport Extreme be turned on? Would any damage be done by trying the upgrade this way?
Any feedback would be much appreciated.
    Thanks...
iMac Dual Core; iBook G4 12"   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I think you will find that hooking up with an ethernet cable and hard wireing will always be a little better than downloading updates wireless, for speed and accuracy, That being said in many instances it is not a must.
The reason some ADSL modem manufactures recommend the hard wired method is to avoid any mistakes, thus making sure of the accuracy of there firmware update.
Your assumption is in fact correct that it is OK to conduct your upgrades wirelessly. The only time is when the manufacture recommends you do an operation HARD WIRED, they do this for a reason.
Without going into a lengthy disertation. Some Hardware, Software, etc have verification keys that allow your machine, software and hardware to recognize said applications for the download process.
So in the real world it is better and faster hardwired, but not a must in most cases.
    Cheers Don

  • Podcasts -- network connection timed out since 8.1.1 upgrade

Ever since my installation of iTunes was upgraded to 8.1.1, I have been getting several "network connection timed out" error messages on my podcast subscriptions. They are not all coming from the same place, either. I have been able to go to the iTunes store and download new episodes, but the convenient RSS aspect of podcasts seems to be broken in this version of iTunes.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Do you have a fix.

Afraid most of mine don't use feedburner addresses, fed via the iTunes store.
I've noticed that one of them now shows a new podcast on the store but it still won't update. I also tried to subscribe to this podcast using feedburner, but iTunes wouldn't update that either.
I've never been a big fan of the iTunes application. May be it's time to look for an alternative. You'd have thought that for a Mac user it'd be the podcast application of choice.
    Thanks for the suggestion though.

Upgrading to 6.1.1 hasn't solved the problem with network connection on 4S. Still "No Servise"!

Same here.  Everything was fine running on ios 6.0, I don't know what possessed me to upgrade!  I contacted O2 and thet went through the usual settings; reboot; airplane mode etc and it works for a while (like 5 mins) then service is losted with the network.  I've even deleted the exchange email account and rebooted as read on the internet that this would fix the problem.... guest what....yep no joy!  This is clearly a faulty software update and need fixing pronto!  I've read that ios6.1.2 will be out soon to fix the firmware that was suppose to fix the initial network problem.   When will this be realeased Apple?!  It's hardly fit for purpose when I can't make calls or surf the internet.
